Seller Review - You are much better off selling via Poshmark and having control over pricing. After submitting several items for sale recently, I am shocked at the proceeds I've received (and didn't realize that if you want a cash payout, that amount gets cut in half - read the fine print!). Armani dress (polyester shift), new with tags, original price $187 - earnings $12.60. LOL!! Club Monaco quilted jacket (like new condition) - earnings $9.20. La Vie En Rose satin romper, new with tags, original price $54 - earnings $4.40. *The above amounts are only if I use the earnings in store as credit; they get reduced by about 50% if I request a cash payout. The staff was friendly and the store is tidy and well merchandised, I am just providing an honest review for sellers who want to get higher earnings on quality clothing resales. read more

As a shopper, I find cute shoes once in a while. Occasionally a dress or a blouse. But as a consigner, I think they suck. I bring things that are practically new, some with tags still on them. And they take 1 or 2 items. I guess this is why people sell on FB marketplace or eBay or Poshmark. read more

Husband of the primary customer here. What a great business model! They have their pick of inventory brought to their door at no cost, they may or may not sell the goods, and if so, keep 60% of what they sell it for. When you bring stuff in, you can opt for either the return of unsold items or they will donate such unsold stuff to a charity reseller, likely picked up at no cost to Labels. As I said, a great business model. Our interactions with staff have been friendly enough, as long as one can stand having some of their treasures rejected for resale. If you choose the "donate" route, there is no accountability, which leaves me wondering. When you bring stuff in, they are pretty picky, which is good for all. It is not a junk shop. The downside/upside is that they sell things at generally reasonable prices. Great if you're buying, not so great if you're selling. But hey, it's perhaps a better way to clean your cupboards and closets and make a few bucks than the hassle of holding a garage sale. My main gripe is that my wife usually spends more when we drop stuff off than she takes in from the sale of things. Oh well..... read more

Customer service is awful .. went in and wanted to buy a designer purse that was locked up in glass case .. just needed someone to remove it and do the sale .. plenty of salespeople but all side by side with Canadian customers .. I should have left but instead waited almost 20 minutes and then had a lady with a bad attitude .. as if I was an inconvenience so simply put .. Horrible situation at intake today. Looked like a mom-daughter duo, sloppy as hell, there's no way I was going to bring in my items. The one girl was talking so loudly about another coworker that it made me cringe. I know Mean Girls when I see them. Looked around, couldn't even move the denim hangers due to the racks being so full and yet the retail girl was putting more stuff out! I can't tell you how many times staff in the Northwest store have been rude to me. This past Friday was just the most recent. I brought in two bags plus another bag with a couple of items that did not fit in the other two bags. The lady said in a rude / annoyed tone of voice , we only take 25 items a day. It used to be two bags, so I repeated "25 items per day?" she then corrected and said 25 clothing items and 10 housewares. I stated i didn't think i had more than 25 clothing items because my clothing consisted mostly of summer dresses. She then stated in a rude/annoyed tone that they were only taking "spring" items. I began counting my items to make sure there were not too many and she rudely stated "you can't do that here because other people might come in," then told me to move down the counter. Beware - I took a pricey item into the James Street store to consign along with some less pricey items. The store mysteriously has no record/no memory of it. Completely ripped me off. I wish I would've had Yelp before I took my expensive faux fur coat in to be sold. A lot of reviews (old, but still prominent) said to discuss the price when bringing in an item, and not being real experienced with consignment I didn't do that. The coat was from Midnight Velvet, a high-end online retailer, only a few years old, in immaculate condition and originally sold for almost $400 during a clearance sale. It was my prized possession and I only wore it twice out of fear of it being accidentally damaged.. which may sound silly but I've never had such a pricey beautiful coat and I felt like a millionaire knowing it was in my closet. A personal emergency arose and desperate for funds, I very reluctantly took it to be sold and dropped it off. I was told after 30 days, it'd be sold at half price, so I made note of that. I kept checking the site to see if it was still there and a couple weeks later, it said the coat had been sold.. and I had $10 in my account. $10??????? What?????!!!!!!!! I get that the store gets the lions share of the split.. I GET IT ... but come ON, $10 for a beautiful fur coat??!!! I was expecting more like $50 I should've researched a little more before bringing it there. A lot of reviewers are raving about the low prices they paid for nice things, such as designer jeans for under $20 which means, what, the person who brought them in ended up getting like $3 or something? So yeah.. it's a clean store, evidently the prices are great FOR THE BUYER, but I feel like as a seller, I got ripped off. Consignor warning: Dropped off items for resale at the James Street location. Items were listed promptly and I have had many items sold. Dropped off at the Northwest store and after a month, nothing had been listed on my account page. I did drop off two new Ecco leather Sneakers and was surprised that I didn't see that they had sold. I spoke to Lucy(store manager at the Northwest location), and asked her about the two leather sneakers. She called me back to say that they couldn't find them!! I will only deal with the James St.store. Not only are they trustworthy but very friendly. Love labels! With a HUGE selection of clothes, accessories,housewares, books, stemware and cute dishes for entertaining. What's not to love about Labels? Just a few things in my experience... Sage, the owner is an absolute professional and I have been consigning with her for years at different locations. The James street and NW store seem to be inconsistent with each other as far as what they will accept. If one location does not take something, I go to the other store and they accept it. So, it may depend whose working or the particular needs of the store at a given time. This is my biggest issue with them is the consistency. Their acceptance seems to, at times depend on who is working and I rarely see the same gals behind the counter. They are always pleasant and don't make me feel rushed though. I like that they donate clothes, so you know if Labels does not accept them they will end up in a good home :-) I have purchased a few books here (bran new) but rarely anything else. I searched for jeans several times and can't find my size. Also, it's hard to get to clothes because most of them are jam- packed on the racks with little room to freely move about the store. They accept and move an insane amount of merchandise, which is great for consignors but doesn't lend to to a very pleasant shopping experience. Payments are always prompt and hassle free. Some places require you to have a minimum amount in your account. Not the case here, just present your ID and you're good to go! read more

I you like consignment clothes stores, you will adore this place! This is one of the biggest used clothing shops I've ever been to. I liked how it was clearly organized by item size and type (i.e., a rack for small sweaters, one for medium sweaters, one for large, etc.). The two gals ringing folks up at the center cash area. They were super nice, but there was a long line at both cashiers. Seriously, I think this place could use another cash or two; there was quite the logger jam here today. I'm not a big fan of places like this. I know this shop is very popular, but I'm not into used clothes that look and/or smell used. Most of the items here appeared worn. Some, a lot. And many had that "used" aroma, a little mildewy. The dressing rooms all had a lot of clothes left in them, along with empty hangers. Feels "messy". I only saw a few designer clothes, and all had minor issues with them (missing buttons, or some hanging from a thread, seams in purses' linings had tears, etc.). Plus, there's a ton of jewelry all around the cash register island and it all looks and feels unsubstantial and cheap. The prices here, meanwhile, are a a steal. There were especially a lot of shoes and purses. My kid loved this store! Side note: despite this store advertising itself as a women's clothing designers shop, know that this places also sells lots of household items as well: table linens, tea sets, candlesticks, accent figurines, cookbooks and small kitchen appliances. read more

As a bargain shopper, I am always looking for a good deal. I also love the fit and style of certain designers, so Label's is my new go-to. They are very choosy about the merchandise they bring into the store, so I know that anything I find will not be faded, ripped or look too worn. I appreciate the way their racks are all labelled by size, so I don't spend a lot of time trying to find something that fits. I've found some wonderful deals there lately - Free People, new Nike, Eileen Fisher, Frye, all under $20 as well as some nice finds from Kitchen Aid and handcrafted ceramics. I occasionally consign there, and I am able to see if I have sold something online. This is an interesting place worth a visit. read more

To all those complaining about Label's only taking one of your items And therefore giving them a one-star rating, may I just say...they are "picky" ( I preferred to say discerning) because they know what their customer's want and what will sell. My mom has been going to Labels for years and got me hooked on it! I have found SO many great deals there - I have stuff from Madewell, J. Crew, H&M, Adidas, and so many more great brands that I've gotten for less than $15. As with any consignment shop, it's really luck of the draw any time you go as to what they'll have, but they always have a huge selection of stuff and it's very organized. I've noticed over the last month at this particular location that they've reorganized a little bit and made it feel a little more spread out so there's more room to maneuver in between racks. There's always a great selection of housewares, shoes, and accessories too. The other location on James St. is great too! I've also had great experiences consigning clothes of my own here too. Are their clothes great? Yes. Are their prices great? Yes. Are their employees some of the rudest I've come across? Yes. I've had had many a mediocre customer service experience at both Label's locations but one instance really sticks out as being awful. My soon to be mother in law was kind enough to send me a little Labels card on it letting me to know that she was giving me $100 to Labels. Great. So I go into the Northwest Labels, do some shopping, and go to check out. I let the woman know what I was gifted and show her the card. She then tells me that she has no idea what I'm talking about, says something along the lines of "that's not how we do things here" and basically accuses me of lying. A manager luckily stepped in, made a call to the other location and tracked down my gift card. I still left that day with a bad taste in my mouth and I've felt similarly leaving on other occasions. I get that you all probably deal with some intense customers but damn, try giving people the benefit of the doubt. I've asked around to my friends to see if they've experienced something similar and I've only heard agreement. Such a bummer too, it really is a great store. Will this stop me from shopping at Labels? Probably not. Will I warn anyone asking me about Labels in the future? Probably. read more

I do not have enough wonderful things to say about Labels and the ladies who work there. My husband and I have been coming here almost every week for the last three years. We are on a first name basis with many of the staff members and they love when my daughter comes in ( a 4 month old baby girl). We are always warmly welcomed. Labels takes new and used items on consignment. I believe the split is 60/40, with the seller making 40% on anything below $50. I take all of my clothes and accessories there when I am ready to spruce up my wardrobe and try new things. I always think I might take the money out of my account but most often I just end up spending it in the store. The Northwest branch has an excellent selection of housewares and clothing (I am not a huge fan of James st. they tend to carry cheaper quality items). I have scored insane deals on brands like Free People, BCBG, Lululemon, Adidas, Vincent, and so many others. You can buy a dress for $6 on the low end. Nothing beats the value for the type of items they carry. I think they have the fairest pricing out of any other consignment/thrift store I have ever been to. When it comes to consigning items they only take the good stuff. I am sure that lots of what I have brought in has been donated instead of sold, but they take care of donating so it means one less trip for me when I am spring cleaning. Their pricing is on the lower end so you would have to bring in a lot to make a good chunk of change (especially when you only get 40% of the selling price) but I don't mind. Those items would be very hard to sell on my own. If you do have a particular selling price in mind you can work with the staff and set the price yourself (if they choose to take the item), be warned however that it might not sell. I find the staff knows more about pricing than I do, and if I want any money their advice is the best to go off of. If you want to grow your wardrobe or redecorate for a fraction of the cost this store is a must! I think most of our house has been furnished by Labels. read more

Of the two labels in bham I like this one best... not sure why cause its smaller but I seem to find more classy stuff that works for my body type here. The girls are very friendly and area always patient with me forgetting my card or forgetting which phone number the card is connected to. They will even help you find something special... I've made some good money off them bringing in old clothes and the like for them to sort through and sell... they also donate whatever they can't sell so you don't have to run from labels to value village or goodwill trying to get rid of the stuff that is only taking up space in your closet. They have a great shoe selection and their accesories are pretty fun. The best part about this store is that your credit hops from store to store so if you have credit at one you have credit at both which is pretty cool. read more

No sh*t: Great selection and variety of styles and sizes in clothing. Ok shoe selection. . . Jewelry could be more unique since its all costume. FAVORITE section: HOUSEWARES! Good turnover for wall art and some compelling pieces occasionally. Never disappointed, and always very well organized despite limited space. CONS: Is this a parking lot for ants? I've been going to Labels for a solid 9 years now. This is my go-to for about 75% of my closet. It's so satisfying knowing I'm buying unique and cute clothing while also saving a hefty amount of money! The many compliments I've received on apparel and accessories are usually followed by a "Thank you! I got it at Labels for $(enter super affordable amount here)!" Just the other day I found the ideal dress for a wedding. I had been looking for something like this for a good while and finally found it at Labels for $7!!! My first experience from a sellers perspective ~~ I had very good quality stuff to take in for consignment, most of it either new or worn only once or twice, with a few more used items but even those items were in good shape ~ better than charity store quality. I go to the new store on Northwest and while I'm waiting for them to go thru my stuff, probably the most expensive item sells ~ a pair of $100 Sofft shoes, BRAND NEW never been worn. But given how busy they are I don't ask about it while I'm there. When they're done I collect what they don't want and right away I'm a bit alarmed ~ there was stuff in there that was excellent quality, brand new/not worn (jeans and shoes), as well as some clothes with tags still on them. When I asked about it the girls reasons were strange. In spite of the sick feeling that's growing in my gut I think "whatever" and that maybe it's partly due to the total chaos that was in the place. On my way home I call to see about the shoes that sold. The HUNDRED dollar pair of shoes that were BRAND NEW never worn, were sold for 14.99 I was told. My cut, I was told, was $5.99. Now I'm speechless as I KNOW i've made a huge mistake and I hang up. I am sick about that as I think about all the other stuff they took was really nice stuff. I called back and told them about my concerns and after one of them was rather patronizing I called the other store on Ellis in search of the owner. I called the first store on Northwest back and told them I want all my stuff back. Long story short they increased my account from 5.99 to $20, I removed ALL my stuff from their store and took it to a different consignment store altogether. After speaking with the owner of the different store (who, by the way, wanted nearly everything I had) I knew she knew the value of nice things and expensive labels. (I described the Sofft shoes to her, she knew what I was talking about and said she sells shoes like that for 60+ dollars). ((You know? IF she sells it for cheaper than I'd like at least I know she knows the value and I feel like it's fair business.)) Now, one could say "well at least you're getting SOME money for it" and as true as that is I'm of the opinion that business is business and I don't like getting ripped off. Either be fair in the business you do with me or I will be happy to GIVE the shoes to someone who will appreciate them more than you do. The moral of this story is... if you shop there you are likely to get a screaming deal on excellent quality stuff. BUT if you are the seller you will get ripped off BIG time if you are not a part of the pricing of your stuff, which they don't even allow you to do anyway. And the pricing of items? ~ One girl repeatedly spouted off the standard "one quarter of original pricing" but then another said "1/4 to 1/5" while still another said "one quarter to 30%"... So which is it?? As if it really mattered ANYway because they obviously do NOT have a clue to the original value of anything. So ~ Seller beware. For what it's worth, there is also very poor accountability to your inventory. You do not receive a copy of your inventory there. They say they keep an inventory list but you are basically on THEIR honor system and granted they added $14 to my account, they've already shown me there's not much honor there with the pricing of your items. She rented a little house on the edge of downtown, threw in some clothing racks, hired her neighbor to help out and set up shop. Over the years the Ellis St. Labels has become the flagship, the original great consignment shop that all followers have emulated. Labels is a great place to shop, indeed the most popular clothing store in all of Bellingham, not just among consignment shops but among ALL clothing stores. There are some very specific things that make it so: -It is soooo easy to pop in and out quickly, browse, drop off a bag of clothing and then be on your way. The parking lot is adequate but small and right by the door, the clothing inside is well-organized and easy to peruse. Even if you only have a few minutes to scout for a treasure it is always worth the stop. -Consignors are treated with the same friendliness as shoppers. The consignment process is incredibly easy. You do not need an appointment, do not have to wait for your rejected clothing- sign in, drop your bag on the counter and be on your way. You can call the store to check your account anytime, they won't even put you on hold. -The clothing is gone through pretty thoroughly. Like any consignment shop you want to give items the once over before purchasing, but they weed out the crud really well. And the prices are always low. Honestly, I once got a brand-new with tags ($120) Calvin Klein dress for $14.99. I thought it was a mistake. But it wasn't. -All the other stuff: scarves, wallets, purses, shoes, toiletries, hats, hosiery, jewelry... there is tons of it. I once took in a bunch of rubber stamps from my crafting days and sold them all. If it will fit on the shelf and someone will buy it, they'll take it. The store itself is bright and kitschy and clean. The signs are cute, the details such as the dressing room curtains, are pretty which makes the whole thing a satisfyingly girly experience. The old house is a bit of a maze and charming for it. With upwards of 17,000 consignors, if you haven't been to Labels, you are probably the only woman in town who hasn't. Labels Consignment Shop-Bakerview Square Bakerview Labels: A few years ago, with Ellis St. Labels going strong, the decision was made to branch out. Whoever heard of one small town having two consignment shops owned by the same person? No one. Not even consignment shops in Seattle have more than one store. How could one smallish town support two? As it turns out, really well. The Bakerview store is set up just like Ellis Street in terms of consignment policies, etc., but it really does have a very different feel. It is located in a strip mall in the retail hub of Bellingham and is screaming busy all the time. The place is one big room with a nice flow around the racks. Like Ellis Street, the whole place is cute, kitschy, well-decorated and just fun. Get your shopping fix at either store without breaking the bank. Still waiting for a call back...6 days later....hmmmmmm I called the store. They were unable to find the bracelet and could only determine that it had possibly been stolen. I was told that it would be made right and they would credit my account, which is great appreciated! Thank you! One thing that I would recommend to Labels Women's Consignment stores is a printed record to the customer of their items sold and the amounts said items sold for, when the consignees are using their sales as a store credit or when a check is issued to the customer for items sold. At least ask if they would like a printout, I have never received one or been asked. Other consignment stores I have dealt with have always given me a record of sold items. Also, while I have been told that jewelry is not tracked and the sales clerks cannot tell the consignee if they still have jewelry that hasn't been sold...I would believe that you could at least put the number of jewelry items they brought or sold on their account. The store is a great place to shop for deals....and while I will probably take items there to sell, this has been a learning experience. I would not take jewelry items of any value to sale, unless the store changes the way they handle how they track jewelry. If you have other items of value you want a set amount for, definitely discuss it as they sell items for rock bottom prices. Lastly, I believe that all items, clothing, jewelry, purses or houseware goods should be put out for sale on the floor for at LEAST 1-2 days before any employee or store manager should be allowed to purchase the items. This would alleviate people wondering if items were marked low so that they can be purchased by the staff. read more

I have been consigning here for years. It amazes me how they manage to sell clothes for so little, and I mean for the most part the stuff they sell is pretty dirt cheap, yet I manage to empty my consigning account for a large sum of money! I love this place so much that when I moved from Bellingham nearly an hour down South I still make the drive to both buy and sell there. After shopping at this store before, and experiencing a "buyer beware" attitude about some fake merchandise, I decided to go back with family and check out the new location (as well as the one on James Street.) We noticed all the worn, casual items were on James St. and the more classy items were on Northwest (probably for the borderites who come down to shop in the U.S. for the day, and go back up to Canada in the evening.) There were some interesting things in both shops, however there were SO many FAKE bags and wallets, that I think it is a real problem at this shop. It is a problem for the buyer who thinks they are getting a deal, and for the seller, who could go to jail. This forces me to think again about whether I plan to take family back to shop there-- it makes me question all of the merchandise in there, and the lack of integrity it takes to sell non-designer merchandise--- even if it is labeled "FAUX." While the store looks great,well organized,nice selection and good prices I was shocked when I walked in the door and wasn't greeted with hello or welcome to Labels or how are you...but instead with a snooty girl in the fakest, forced polite tone I've ever heard sharply saying, "oh just so you know we close in 15 minutes so you have 15 minutes to do your shopping"! Not happy,will not be returning to THAT particular store. It's always hit or miss at Labels, but when it's hit, you can get some awesome clothes for incredible prices. I've gotten Guess, Banana Republic, Charlotte Russe, and Express clothes here for cheap and my friend even got a pair of Cole Haan heels for $20! Definitely worth checking out. Like Alisa B. Love this store! They are picky on what they will take, but I like that because I'm a shopper, too and I don't want junk. You get a decent amount for what you sell, but it's not a lot because they sell stuff for cheap prices...again, something I appreciate as a shopper.
