    Ridge Construction - Kitchen Install

    Ridge Construction

We would not hesitate for a moment in recommending Ridge Construction. They have been a delight to…read morework with; they show close attention to detail, to explaining what they are doing and why, and to ensuring that the job is one that they (and we) can be proud of. There's never been any doubt that their core approach is to do a job right from the start. Given we are building a custom 2400 sq ft house, that has taken a lot of the stress out of our lives. Zaccai keeps his crews small - something he noted to us before we hired him. That means he gets to hire exactly who he wants for longer periods, rather than picking up whoever might be available on a given day to rush a job to completion. This shows in the quality of the work that has been done. It also shows in the people doing the work - they are respectful and happy to be on his job, always friendly and courteous, and take the time to tell us what they are doing, or how we can help. Zaccai himself is regularly on site, cranking out whatever needs doing. His work ethic and tenacity for getting things done with a smile are what you want to see on your job. He leads his crews by example. We sat down at the start of the process with Carrie and Zaccai to go over budget. They've kept to that budget, only deviating when there's been some other new options that could get things done either quicker or better. They've presented those options (whether it was a cost saving or an additional expense) to us as we've moved forward, so we felt in complete control of spending. Again, there's never been any doubt that they are trying to build our house right, without spending more than necessary to do so. We've had builders work for us before who said they could do things that it later turned out they couldn't. You'll not have that problem with Ridge Construction. They are good for their word and more. A friend recommended them to us and we now pass that recommendation on to all of you.

United Builders - New Kitchen and Countertop on a remodel Job

    United Builders

I would give minus points for the "United Builders." This is a family-owned (Mother and sons) and…read moreoperated business. You might want to read my experience before you consider hiring these guys. I hired "United Builders" based on their professional-appealing internet web page and that they are people with faith. They even helped to find the land since I live in Oregon. Our contract was established on June 8th, 2021, and I paid $87,386.58 cash- As a registered nurse, I saved up for this forever home to work part-time at home. I made 9 payments, $ 9,709.62 each, $84, 150 total. However, after the 9th payment, one of the brothers (the older one) was searching for cheaper materials for the house. For example, one day, he walked around the local stores, taking pictures of the gray metal roof and sending me 3 gray metal roof samples, even though we decided on the colored metal roof at the beginning of the contract. He insisted that there was no price difference. But I found out that the colored metal roof is always more expensive. There were more similar examples. I was getting concerned, so I asked him/them to be honest via email. He/they broke the contract (house is about 45% done) right after he/they read my email. I request them to return my down payment since he/they broke the contract for their/his own convenience. They refused. Instead, they covered my roof with plastic stuff and asked for almost $23,000- what thieves! After they broke the contract, I learned more disturbing things- they exposed my land so much that my property is at risk for mudslide - there is a neighbors house downhill. I never permitted them to disturb my land in such way- by cutting so many trees and removing roots. Also, they never informed me about it, so I never knew. I had to find out on my own. The house is not built appropriately. An inspector told me that a lot of improvement needs to be done on the house. The "United Builders" are very dishonest, incompetent, and scary people. The older one assured me that he would build my house close to the main road so I wouldn't pay any money bringing electricity into my property. It turned out he built my house too far downhill, GVEA charged me $3,010. I've been asking them for my "house plan," but they failed to provide it. So it only means two things: they built my house without the plan, or the plan is so terrible that they cannot even show it to me. "United Builders" are made out of a prominent family in Nenana, Fairbanks, Alaska. One of them is the current Mayor of Nenana, and the other one ran for the House Representative in 2020. However, no one is above the law. Stand by for updates.

So many small items which I never would have thought of make it so nice to live in. He put a special outlet by the garage door for a boot drier, a sink in the garage, the freezer outlet is in the same circuit as the garage door opener so you know right away if it trips, I swear there is an extra heating loop by the toilet because that part of the floor is always warm. Just really nice well thought out things. Mike is a true professional craftsman and after living in my beautiful new home for a year now I can say his work holds up. There were a few items I didn't understand and when I called him he was super friendly and responsive on helping me figure out the problem. 10/10 would call for construction projects. Thanks Mike!!!!

When I didn't know exactly what I wanted, he helped me with design & accompanied me to the tile store. He didn't attempt to influence my choices, simply took it from there to figure out the rest. He ran all the errands, delivered the tiles & all other related materials ( grout, paint, etc ). He gave us a timeline; started & finished on schedule. I wanted the tub removed, with a floor almost flush with the floor of the BR to accommodate movement, maybe even a wheelchair as we age. This involved some drainage sculpting that he was able to do beautifully. The heavy 12" tiles are secure & I love the smaller tiles of the floor that allow for a very subtle curve for drainage. The design of the horizontal tiles of the walls, diagonal of the floor is eye pleasing. Mike's skill & integrity makes him a craftsman I'd recommend for any remodel.
