This place completely blindsided me with billing, and after reading other reviews, it seems like a pattern. I went in for a tiny cyst on my scalp after being referred by my doctor. The first appointment was maybe 10 minutes. They injected it with a steroid which didn't change anything, so I came back later to have it removed. The procedure itself was quick and uncomplicated, probably around 20 minutes. I was told there might be a $75 biopsy fee, which felt reasonable. I came back once more to get stitches removed. Then months later, I get a bill for nearly $600. It was split into multiple charges and somehow included a high-level office visit that didn't match how simple and quick the appointments actually were. When I called to question it, I was told the charges were correct but was offered a 50% "one-time discount," which made the original pricing feel arbitrary. The medical care itself was fine. The billing practices and lack of transparency are not. I decided to pay the remaining balance just to get them to stop calling and mailing me letters every week. If you go here, ask for a full cost breakdown ahead of time, because they will not volunteer that information. read more

Would avoid this office at all costs. Both poor treatment (I paid for them to remove a wart and some skin tags, and none of them came off. Went to another dermatologist and they got all of them) and also bad service. Needed a refill for a medication, took a week to book a telehealth appt that got cancelled same day and then told me I had to wait 2 weeks to reschedule. No thanks! read more

I want to start by saying that my experience with Dr. Dacko herself was wonderful. She's an excellent doctor, and I felt well cared for during my first visit. Unfortunately, my experience with communication and scheduling from the office was not nearly as positive. I had an appointment on the calendar for nearly a year, and just a few days before, I was informed that Dr. Dacko would be out of town. No problem--I was happy to reschedule for a few days later. However, at 5 p.m. the night before my new morning appointment, I received a text from the office stating they no longer accept my insurance but were willing to charge me a cash fee that was five times my usual copay. I understand that things change and providers may switch insurance policies. However, I don't think it's fair--or ethical--to notify long-term patients of this kind of change less than 24 hours before a scheduled appointment. Doctor's offices often charge patients for late cancellations, so why is it acceptable to leave patients in a position where they must cancel or pay significantly more without notice? read more

Unprofessional and dishonest people. Intentionally misleading. I called to see if I could stop by to meet the staff, see the office, and collect service and pricing information. I was invited to do so. (I did not request a consultation.) The doctor gave me a few pamphlets. On my way out, the receptionist said I owed $200. I had been there a few minutes and had no service. They have been sending me a monthly bill for six months. Avoid this dreary little office. I've been to the best in BH, LF, and on Ventura Blvd. I know what to expect. read more

My only warning about this place. Make sure that you check with your insurance company that they are in network. Do not rely on what they tell you. When I made my appointment I asked the receptionist to please check and double check. She told me yes she would do that. The day of my appointment I asked her if she had checked. She told me she had and that they were network. About a month later I get a bill from them because apparently they were not in network. It's been over a year and they're still billing me. I tried to negotiate the bill with the doctor. She refused. And now we are where we are. Service was fine. Dr seems to know what she's doing. But just do your due diligence with regards to insurance coverage. read more

LACA Dermatology is incredible!! A friend recommended them with me for painful hormonal cysts on my chin and they got me into their office the very next day. Salvatore met me with so much kindness and warmth and actually listed to my concerns vs. some other derms I've dealt with (including Curology... blech). He didn't try to force me on an oral medication and instead prescribed two creams that have already worked WONDERS. Within only one day, my painful cyst was reduced to a scab and we're on the road to healing! I'd recommend LACA Dermatology to anyone. I'm so thankful I found Steph at LACA today - I just got home and had to write a review ASAP. I have Aetna (PPO) insurance and have been looking for a dermatologist for months. So many offices are either no longer taking insurance, have month long waitlists or are simply... rude and icky. I needed a cortisone shot ASAP today for cystic prob on my chin and was running down Aetna's list of in-network options and landed here and called. They were able to get me in the *same day*, are right on Hyperion and they were so friendly. To the woman at the front desk- thank you for being so kind and understanding that I was on a work call while checking in... and not making me feel bad about it. This post is not just to rave about the ease of appointment or taking insurance- it's also about how freaking awesome Steph is. She just gets it. FINALLY someone normal, smart and honest. She knew exactly why I was there, explained everything to me thoroughly and literally gave me the best dermatologist / patient experience I've had in LA / Bev Hills - you name it. I walked away with not only my cortisone shot, but an actual solution/ treatment plan/ path forward to solve to the larger problem I've been trying to get diagnosed and treated for months. And it wasn't just fluff "get this $2k laser treatment!" Literally have seen $300/appt dermatologists who were ineffective and couldn't care less - Steph is the opposite of this in every way. Net net - I was almost in tears I am so thankful I found her and had to share here in hopes that if there's someone else out there, as frustrated with their skin as I am, knows there is someone who can help and cares. Horrible unprofessional experience. I asked when I called and booked the appointment what I'd be responsible for. I also asked if the visit could be submitted as preventive since this would be my annual skin checkup given my history of basals and I was told yes by the person I spoke with. The actual appointment experience was fine even though the office is a bit sketchy and I was literally the only person there. No one before me and no one after me which is a very odd thing at any doctor's appointment and should have been a red flag to me. The dermatologist was very nice and friendly, said there were 3 possible basals, and proceeded to get tissue for biopsies. I called them again immediately after the visit to remind them to please code it as preventive and I was again assured by the person who answered the phone that she was going to remind the doctor to do so. A few weeks go by and I get claim notifications from my insurance. $95 for a visit and $277 for the biopsies. I was very confused and called again. This time the person (same person btw), put me on hold to ask the doctor and came back and said he had coded the visit as preventive and that I needed to speak with their Billing Dept. I called Billing and the person I explained all of this to, says to me "Yeah, they don't usually disclose this but no dermatologist visit can be coded ad preventive." She said she'd speak to the office and get back to me. Never heard back. After a few weeks, I called Billing again and got the same song and dance and was assured they'd either call or email me back with a resolution, and again nothing. Here's the bottom line, your staff gives me incorrect information over the phone, not once but twice, and now I'm stuck paying for the bill? If I take my car to the shop, they tell me exactly what everything is going to cost and I have to approve before they do the work. If I take my cat to the vet, same thing. But here's a dermatologist who goes ahead and does 3 biopsies and never tells me how much that's going to cost? I've always only had to pay my co-pay and was never charged anything beyond that so to me, that's what was going to happen. If they have me send them a pic of my insurance card prior to the visit and they know that my plan won't cover certain things, this needed to have been discussed with me and I should have had the choice to either approve the costs or not. You can't just do whatever you want and then slap me with a bill later without giving me the opportunity to approve or decline the services. THIS IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS AND IT'S NOT RIGHT. I never approved the costs and I should not have to pay for them. In addition, I also had to pay for the lab work which I assume I would and have no problem with but I shouldn't have to pay anything to LACA other than the cost of the visit. And even that is shady since I was told twice I wouldn't have to. To make matters worse, I told the doctor they needed to use Labcorp which is now Oscar's preferred lab, and not Quest but they went ahead and used Quest anyway. Talk about mistakes on top of mistakes and not listening at all to what their patients are saying. Stay away and do not EVER use them. They don't have the first clue about how to run a reputable business. read more

It's hard enough to find good doctors in-network. Even though most of the references from friends and family are for docs out of network, I decided to try this place since it was in network. I went to the Silverlake office for a mole inspection and they caught one that look abnormal, biopsied it, and it came back indeed abnormal. Went in for my second excision today to see if they removed all the abnormal cells. All the support staff and doctors are incredibly helpful, transparent, and caring. I didn't need to ask many clarifying question because they covered all the bases. No one was trying to sell me anything or suggest unneeded procedures/tests that would cost extra. And anything that would cost me was not hidden in fine print on a form, it was told to my face, which is something I can't say for many medical offices. Much appreciated. Will be coming back for regular mole checks or any dermatological needs going forward. Thanks. read more

I saw Dr. Dacko a few months ago to get a couple of cherry hemignomas removed from my neck and lower back. Dr. Dacko made sure I was super comfortable and guided me thru the whole procedure. Barely felt anything at all and the procedure was very quick. The office is super clean, quiet with very kind staff. The office is very covid compliant with all staff members utilizing PPE. I totally recommend Dr. Dacko for any skin care or medical-related issues as she is very knowledgeable and highly trained. read more
