Macaron Lover heaven. Although the luster of visiting the original location is probably diminished due to their various shops around the world (there's three in my area: Beverly Hills, LA, and Glendale), I thought it was still worth a visit on my Paris trip. After taking pictures at the Arc de Triomphe, we walked over to pick up some macarons. There's a dining area for sit-down meals, a bar, a patio, and a bakery on the side. Besides macarons, they offer various pastries and cakes. Lines to the bakery are generally long, there will be a wait. Speaking English is not a problem. Service is a little slow due to the amount of people ordering, they will try to hurry you up so make sure to keep up. The macarons are not made on-site, but near Paris and then brought over (macarons sold outside of France are made in Switzerland). We tried a variety of flavors - caramel, chocolat, pistache, rose, vanille, and vanille fraise. Regardless of how they are made, they still taste great. The shells are delicate, with a slight crunch when you take the first bite. I enjoyed the fillings, each one was consistently good and sweet Compared to Pierre Hermé, I personally enjoy the macarons from Ladurée as a whole. But I will say that PH's infiniment chocolat paineiras was my favorite. Still, the macarons are five star. I personally would buy them elsewhere, like at their shops inside Charles de Gaulle (duty-free) or a location near you. The experience will most likely be the same. read more

After a long day of touring and shopping in Paris, I wanted a light snack. My very first time to eat macarons was at Laduree when I was in Champs Elysee years ago. They were 1,65euros each at the time and I remember it well because it was money well-spent. The salon is very pretty and ornate - the old building gives it so much character. I didn't mind the long line, it gave me time to look around and figure out what I want. The classic green boxes, some special edition boxes, the fabulous desserts and the yummiest macarons in the world - c'est l'amour! I tried all 18 flavors that were available the day I went and favorites are: pistache, vanille, cafe, chocolat, caramel a fleur de del and framboise. I have Laduree up on a pedestal that I've become a macaron-snob. I haven't found pistachio macarons as good and as natural-tasting as Laduree's. Vanilla and chocolate are boring in other places I've tried. Some are too fragile that you're left with crumbs. Others don't have the proper feet/shell. Laduree is just perfect! Want to sit and enjoy a nice cup of tea with some pastries on the streets of Paris - especially on Av. des Champs-Élysées? In a place that looks like it can belong in a castle from a fairytale? Well then, this is the place for you! Of course you have to enjoy some macarons as that is what Laduree is known for. Luckily my bf and I dropped by late at night so there wasn't much of a line but it still was pretty busy all throughout! There is an option to go through a bakery line and specifically pick out macarons and pastries to take with you to go. The other option is to sit at a table and dine - this was the route that we took after taking a look at the pastries in the bakery section. The interior is grand and aesthetically pleasing so it is a great place to sit and enjoy some treats if you get the chance. The macarons are delicious and the texture is perfect. There are so many different flavors to choose from you can't go wrong. There is also a large selection of drinks. We decided to order some tea which paired perfectly with the sweet treats we chose. I originally planned on visiting the Bonaparte Laduree but they were closed for the month of August. If you didn't know this yet, August is France's usual month where they go on vacation so half of the places I've wanted to visit are actually closed while there. However, they had a sign saying their Champs-Elysees location was still open, so since we planned on visiting that reknowned street, we weren't too bummed. The place is quite obvious. It's located at a corner and decked out their signature color. There was also an impressive line to dine in and an impressive line inside to take out. We joined the take out line and it was intense and crazy. Though there is a queue, everyone seemed to be tourists ready with their cameras. I admit I had mine out as well, but as it's a permanent fixture around my neck on this Europe trip of mine, it's nothing new. The line doubles around in a "U" so it's hard to see what was being offered. An employee actually came up saying that if all you wanted were macarons to take-out, you could go to the bar (yes, there is a bar) and they would take care of you there, but if you wanted a pastry, you would have to stay in line. I wanted to try a pastry too, so we needed to bear it with the other tourists. Once you finally get to the counter, an employee will ask you what you wanted as well as how many and if they were to be given as gifts. I was given a little menu of what macaron flavors they had and she beckoned me to follow her so she could gather what I wanted to get. It's a bit difficult since many of the tourists were in groups and the line wasn't quite single file, but it was done. I chose my macaron flavors: coffee, peach, orange blossom, and pistachio. Then I ended up deciding upon the raspberry St. Honore, I believe it was. She even looked at me with an amused look on her face when I finally remembered I had a camera and quickly took 2 photos of their beautiful spread. We were given a "ticket" which was handed to the cashier while our purchases were being packed. All in all, despite the craziness of it all, it went fairly smoothly. There were still too many people, though. The macarons were packed in a little paper bag and the pastry was placed in a box. We got the chance to enjoy them about 30 minutes later at a Starbucks, where they don't quite care if you eat food from other establishments while drinking something from them. The macarons were good - flavors were all there and the texture was what I expected. It was delicate and not too sweet. I think my favorite was the pistachio and the most underwhelming (flavor-wise) was orange blossom as it was rather faint. I originally wanted to try the mint flavored macaron, but was informed it contained alcohol so opted out. The St. Honore was interesting. There were around 5 whole raspberries in it along with 3 smaller "puffs" on a round puff pastry with this lightly sweetened whipped cream. The tartness from the raspberries complimented the sweetness from the "frosting" and the puff pastry/choux rounded everything off. Overall, the experience in regards to the food was as much as I expected from Laduree. The location was good and the system of going through everyone was decent considering. I would have liked more time to go through everything (and less people), but I guess that's what I get for coming to this location. The macarons at Laduree are a little more expensive than the other macarons I've encountered in Paris, but that's to be expected. read more

By far the most gorgeous Laduree location. It was too hot to eat outside, but we were seated for a late lunch in the airy dining room. Upstairs is a series of endless, cavernous room dedicated to tea - definitely worth taking a look at when you go up to use the overly ornate bathrooms. I think this place is a converted hotel. Docking a star because the service was awful (waiters looked right through us, which IMO is a new level of rudeness in a country where service is generally bad anyway), but the food was amazing. I had the Croque Monsieur and my friend had the avocado toast. Her toast had a lot of smoke salmon, if that interests you. My iced tea was boring and not worth the €7+ but otherwise it was a great experience. read more

Ladurée is known the world over for delicious macarons. Their flagship store is a must see on any Parisian trip, and easy to accomplish as it's centrally located on the Champs Elysee. Because so, there's always an endless stream of tourists and locals. The space is beautifully decorated, much like the rest of Paris, opulent and gilded inside. The marble tiling, beautiful goddess lamp posts, and ornate gold ceiling, is every girl's fairytale castle come to life. The service is also white-gloved and no nonsense, but a bit too haughty. I stopped in with a friend, and we each got a few macarons for novelty. I chose the floral Rose Petal, their signature Marie Antoinette Tea, and a classic Chocolat, and they were delectable. The crunchy exterior gave way to a smooth and chewy center, with a subtle sweetness. You know a pastry shop is good when it has security guards outside. Laduree is located off Champ Elysees and has a luxurious ambiance. Pricey macarons but these are worth every penny. THE BEST! Each one in a flavor bomb. Coffee and pistachio are my favorites. The elephant ear cookie is also so sweet, buttery, and flaky - again, probably the best I've ever had. So good!! But ever since having Lette Macarons in LA, I wasn't super super amazed by them. I would have to say Lette is comparable! My friends and I waited in line for maybe 10 minutes before finally getting to order. I was afraid that the staff would be rude since people were rude to us (ie: tourists) in Paris because apparently, Paris does not like tourists. The staff was actually nice and was trying to understand what I was trying to order, and did not rush me. I ordered a box of 8 macarons since I know that they usually get really hard after maybe 3 days, and since I've been eating Lette macarons in LA I didn't crave it too much at the time. Sigh, I want to give this place 5 stars SO BADLY! But I can't because the services leaves a lot to be desired. I guess we can go ahead and get the bad parts out of the way first. We sat for dinner and dessert once and desert another time. Ladurée has some of the slowest service I have ever encountered, definitely in my top 5. It's slow to the point of neglect. It's slow to the point that the table beside us wanted to pay with credit, but got so tired of waiting that they scrounged up coins from the bottom of their purses and pockets to be able to just pay and leave. It's to the point that I could barely think to taste the first few bites of my meal because I just needed something to stop my stomach from burning. Let me tell you, I'm not being dramatic. It did seem like it was a bit short staffed as only 1-2 waiters were serving our dining area. HOWEVER: Their food is absolutely amazing. The vol au vent was to die for. I could not stop smiling while eating that lovely dish. My stomach was full, but my taste buds wanted more. Too bad they won't let you order anything to go, because I would have order 2! My friend also said the lobster pasta was delicious- she went back for it. Dessert: as I said, we sat for it on 2 separate occasions and both were phenomenal. I HIGHLY recommend the rose ice cream with the rose macaron. When I tell you it is fragrant as if you are eating a sweet rose, I mean it. I didn't have one bad macaron, and I tried almost all of them- I know I have a problem! A small tip: if you're purchasing macarons from the shop, you can skip the gift box to save money, although they are beautiful so maybe consider getting a small one. Hands down must visit! Maybe have a little snack before if you're sitting for dinner lol! Cost: it is a little bit pricey. Overall terrible experience that didn't live up to the hype. The takeaway macrons are good, however this review is for the dine in restaurant service and food. First, my sister in law and I both ordered the French onion soup and it was not good (too sweet and lacked flavor depth). We both barely ate our soups and told our waiter we didn't like our soups and had her take them away. The tenderloin my husband ordered was decent and the French toast my kids had was ok. My sister in law and I split the chicken club sandwich and were both surprised after taking a bite that the bacon was missing. The sandwich tasted bland and soggy with heavy mayonnaise. When we informed our waitress that there was no bacon she just blankly stared at us and told us that there is no more bacon. No apologies or offer for us to take a look at the menu again. She just kept asking us if we wanted pastrami, which was confusing. She disappeared and we had to ask to see the menu again 10 minutes later when she showed up again. We ordered another dish that was good, but when the final bill came were disappointed to see both soups and club sandwich still on the bill. We casually asked if it was possible to take the club sandwich off the bill when we paid, but the waitress looked at us offended and said no it was not possible because we had eaten some of the sandwich and that the bacon would have been very little anyways. Pastry heaven. I really should just leave it at that. There were 18 different flavors of macarons there. And croissants! And tarts! And eclairs! I felt like a glutton just looking at these delectable treats. I ended up ordering a box of 16 macarons and a cafe eclair. The macarons...delicious. Absolutely the rudest place I've ever been. Yesterday, while my wife and daughter were buying $50 worth of macarones, I sat at empty bar table because the bar stools were full. My table had 3 reserved signs on one end but not my end. So I sat down for a moment. In 10 mins the 18 yo barmaid snapped at me from the bar, "You can't sit there!' By then her bar was empty and no one had come to the reserved table. My family walked in and we left. Next day we came for lunch because family really wanted the experience. Wife ordered a MARIE Antoinette cake. It was not what she expected and it was dry to boot. When we mentioned it to waitress, she had a fit. "It's what you ordered." In the end I ate the cake and wife had to wait 10 mins for eclair while her coffee got cold! Were it not for tourists like my wife n daughter, this place would be nothing. Basically a requirement on a first trip to Paris, right? We visited on a rainy weekday. The line was surprisingly short, only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. The staff was super quick and helpful with everything. The decor is classic with luxe drapery and pastel colors. We ordered coffee and tea that came with fancy tea sets and silverware. We only ordered the desserts. The regular food seemed expensive for sandwiches and salads. Macarons did not disappoint. Obviously it's what they are known for. The raspberry and lychee pastry was awesome! Very fresh and so flavorful with the fruits. That was probably my favorite thing. The fiance got some type of chocolate mousse pastry. If you're a chocolate lover, this is the one for you! I picked up some macarons to-go to bring home to family in the states. One box of 6 macarons is almost 18 euros. Pricey, but it was a hit back home with the family. The box it comes in is also very nice quality and they give you a nice gift bag and lots of cute cards with a list of flavors. We had come here for our very last meal after a whole week in Paris for a final meal. We had been waiting and excited to go here for a very long time. As the food was excellent during this time my purse was stolen while I was eating food. The purse had been slinged on the back of the chair the entire time next to me. There was no people being seated or going back and forth and only servers had been at our table. We would have never expected on our last day in Paris we would have been pickpocketed at Ladurée. I was so surprised since we had actually been on metro, train, crowded streets, and more but of all places it was stolen at a fine dining restaurant. We talked to the managers if there was any security footage they could pull up but they said there were no security cameras where we were sitting. Then after that another manager came and told us that they had footage but it's "wasn't clear and hard to understand". They suggested us to call the US embassy as we were one hour away from boarding our flight back to the US and were already running late and had no time to go the French police as they suggested before. We had to leave soon and had no time to go anywhere to report. I have a suspicion is could have only been one of the servers there. But I would like to give a special thank you to the ladies sitting next to us as they tried to help us. solve this situation. All of these staff tried to help us with this situation except one of them who got defensive about this situation. As I know there wasn't much that they could do I am still very disappointed. The purse had all my credit cards and documentation to get back to the USA and 300 Euros money too. Wish I would have had a more memorable ending our first real trip in Europe and Paris. read more

The line to get takeout macarons was very long/ we were hungry so we looked at the dinner menu and everything sounded delicious so we decided to sit down. We didn't realize the little outdoor area if for deserts and coffee/ tea only. But we had already sat so we decided to do desert before dinner. The raspberry macarons are the best I've ever had. The chocolate caramel ice cream thing we had was smaller than we expected (since we were sharing) but still pretty delicious. The patio is very busy, and while the waiters were trying to turn and burn we often had to wait for him to go to 4-5 other tables before he could get to ours. They were all delicious...my least favorite probably being lemon. Topping my list was definitely the pistachio followed by the rose water and orange blossom. I loved the lightness of the rose water and orange blossom (my husband said they tasted like flowers), but the pistachio one had a nice strong flavor that I couldn't resist. The server was pleasant and she let us be while we enjoyed the outdoor fresh air. She also spoke Both French and English so it was easy to communicate, and I tried to speak as much French as I can but it is limited. If you do not have time to seat and eat, you can go right in the shop and while the line moves pretty fast, you can pick sweets, coffee and pastries of your choice and take them for yourself. My favorite restaurant in the world, and trust me I travel, is Ladurée on Av de Champs-Elysees. I never miss a chance to experience their magnifique food, wine and exquisite decor. Don't let that frighten you if you are not fancy. No reservations for dinner, however the line is worth it and moves faster than expected, certainly faster than the line outside the Louis Vuitton up the street. Although I often eat alone, and when I screw up packing my suitcase am super casual and mismatched, the staff always makes me feel important and special. My favorite meal, and what I ordered again tonight, is their Vol-au-Vent - Chicken in a puff pastry, coved in mushroom sauce with yummy things in it. Glass of Bordeaux - really good Bordeaux that wasn't bottled last year, and yet is reasonable...not a word my family would quickly think to assign to me. ;) Never rushed, always celebrity- level service without the snooty attitude. Too many desserts to describe and macarons that are famous. As I sit here looking out the window and enjoying my wine and this beautiful decor, I am thinking about what I will bring back to my hotel from the pastry counter downstairs. Great macarons and service on the outside however we waited more than 2 hours and others were seated before us. We have a family of 4 with 2 kids that were hungry. Asked for something to eat while we waited. The lady manager said no, wait for the table. We finally seated at 10pm, not everything was available at that point. And they double charged us for bottle water, instead of giving a dessert, they gave us the bottled water to go in a bag. I hope the manager reads this and fix their slowness and lack of priority for their customers. read more

I would not recommend this location for anyone of color, I waited and watched for 20 minutes as other people were severed and helped. I hate to think that the color of my skin was a factor but it clearly was. I was not acknowledged and the waiter that I thought was coming to help me walked right by me to assist a couple who was seated 20 minutes after I was. I let the waiter know I had been waiting and was actually there before the couple and he responded by saying "no problem, it's the same to me". I informed him that it was not the same for me. When I told people I was planning a trip to Paris almost everyone I told mentioned Laduree. I was told that Laduree is known for their amazing macaroons and has a nonstop line all day for their delicious items. I love macaroons so It only made sense that I had to experience a Paris macaroon while in Paris! Inside Laduree there is a restaurant, a bar and a bakery styled boutique where you can bring macaroons, desserts and gifts (keychains) home. Although I would've much preferred to be seated at the bar and enjoy my macaroons over a mimosa, my group was recovering from our night before and just wanted a quiet lunch. We tried a few of the Laduree Classics. The Isaphan is a macaron that consist of rose petal cream, fresh rapsberry and litchee. (e12.5) and the best chocolate eclair (e 7.2) that I have ever experienced in my life! For those who have never had an eclair before, you must try one out ASAP, you've been missing out on an delicious cream puff pastry filled with a yummy chocolate custard cream. These two choices were made to perfection and literally melted in my mouth and left me craving for more. I also was able to try a few of the other macaroons. The list of macaroons was quite long and unfortunate I didn't think I had enough room in my stomach to try them all so I had to narrow them down. I was able to try the coffee, pistachio, salted caramel, orange blossom, vanilla, chocolate Corsican orange and raspberry. Although all were cooked to perfection my top 3 choices would have been the Pistaccio, Coffee and Salted Caramel. If you can order the chocolate hazelnut cup of chocolate sorbet with your macaroons. The floral flavors are wonderful here: lavendar, rose, orange blossom (tastes like cherry blossoms), strawberry poppy (love the thicker, jam-like filling), geranium (interesting-never tried anything with this flavor before), and tonka (it's a type of bean). There's always a long line for this store since it's along the Champs-Elysees but it moves pretty quickly if you're patient (I know, the irony). BUT I suggest you buy it here only if you're consuming it there. Because if you're thinking about bringing it back to your home country as gifts, I highly suggest you buy it from the Laduree stores (yes, there are multiple ones) at the CDG airport because 1) it's cheaper (no tax included), 2) much shorter line wait, 3) they have the same flavors so you're not missing out on anything. It's a great way to use up the rest of the chump change of euros remaining before flying home... :) read more

I would give negative review if I could. First, we had a party of four people and after waiting for more than an hour, they split us up into 2+2 seating while they had tables that could fit party of 4. Second, they didn't bring the food out for over an hour after ordering it. Some of the people in our party left and the finally when the food came out they said order was lost. Overrated place there are far better places in Paris. Don't get suckered in by the brand and fluff around it. read more

INCREDIBLE. The best macaroons known to man. Simply the best in taste, appearance, aesthetics, texture, size, color, shape, scent, etc. They are not cheap, but I mean who cares they are good and as good as it will get! I highly recommend the chocolate, vanilla, and hazelnut flavors. Great location with a wide assortment. Customer service was amazing and quick! No complaints here. read more

Although the macaroons are good, my opinion is that this store in general is just over rated. There are many stores around Paris that sell quality macaroons that are truly amazing. Don't get me wrong! Laduree's product is really very good, but people often claim it to be the best in the world with no other macaroon standing a chance. I've personally had other macaroons that were just as good at half the price. The price is what somewhat gets me because they I understand that they have to put a pricey amount to make the product more exclusive, but if I'm going to be spending merely six bucks on a macaroon, it better make me grow or do something beneficial for my life. read more

The lineup is long as it is a very popular and touristic place. They had many kinds of macarons. We tried the coconut + lime, the zeste de lime, the strawberry one and the pistachio. The first one was delicious but the latters tasted artificial and didn't have anything special. It cost around 12-13 euros for 6 macarons and 4-5 euros more if you want a nice gift box. If you're seeking something for your sweet tooth while walking along Champs-Élysées look no further than Ladurée. Macaroons are my favorite sweet delight! It is just the right mixture of sweetness and texture in a desert. Minus one star because it is SO EXPENSIVE for one little macaroon. read more
