Although it didn't have as much of that ambrosia apple that I was expecting, it was still quite good nonetheless and I picked up one bottle. I'd say overall, I found Baker & Olive vinegars (down in SoCal) to be more flavorful and true, but this place does shine in their "25 Star" 25-year aged balsamic offering, which definitely lets this shop stand out among their peers. The 25 Star is a must try, pours a dark, rich honey like texture and tastes like blackberry and red fruit with an ultra-long honey finish. I also picked up some Haskap berry elixir mix which I was really excited by. Haskap berries I had never heard of prior to visiting this shop and they apparently contain large amounts of natural antioxidants/anthocyanins which are incredible for health. I had previously been consuming elderberries and wild blueberries which are also high in antioxidants and was delighted to find yet another natural berry source for those. The olive oils there are also quite nice -- although I was not looking for olive oils that day in particular I would return to pick up a bottle the next time I am in the area. They have so many different varietals and even do interesting stuff like Butter Olive Oil (there is no actual butter contained -- the flavor is due to the addition of some kind of nutritional yeast). Looking forward to my next trip back!!! Do check out the rest of Carmel Valley as well, it's a beautiful locale and I caught the golden hour right around 4 pm which made for some unforgettable sun-kissed sights along the drive into the valley.

It's a self serve kind of olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting, which is cool. It's straight up oil or vinegar; there's no cracker or bread to accompany it so you get the full, unfiltered version of the oil or vinegar. Lots of options to choose from and the hardest part may be picking! We ended up with 1 olive oil and 2 balsamic vinegars (satsuma orange and dark pomegranate) and can't wait to enjoy them! Cute store and friendly service as well

So great to stumble on this find for a delicious sandwich for lunch. I got the pork banh mi which…read morewas one of the best I've had. The pork was soft and juicy with a few crunchy edges, the carrots were tangy, the bread was fresh and not tough and kept good balance with the amount of sandwich filling. The $20 price was high relative to where I'm from (Midwest) but it WAS a great sandwich... Also got the potatoes wedges. Not crunchy, but still delicious. Great casual lunch spot! The guys behind the counter were attentive hosts.

I stopped in for lunch and ordered a couple of sandwiches to go, thinking it would be a good way to try the food before committing to a larger purchase like steaks, pasta, or other items from the shop. The sandwiches came out to $42 for two, which felt pretty steep. While I waited, I looked around the store at some of the other products, but nothing really stood out to me, and the service felt a bit underwhelming. The sandwiches themselves were just okay--nothing particularly memorable for the price. A few hours later my stomach also felt a bit uneasy, which didn't leave the best impression. Overall, the experience fell short of what I was expecting. Perhaps I just caught them on an off day, but based on this visit, I probably won't be returning.

SCW and I stopped into Jerome's Carmel Valley Market while walking around Carmel post wine tasting…read more The interior is clean and cozy with the produce off to to the right as you enter. The aisles can be a bit small which I could see being a bit of a pain if there are lots of people in the store. You can pretty much find anything you are looking for here. Albeit not necessarily the same volume as a chain grocery store but everything here seems to be good quality. We found lots of good wine as well. Then we got to the deli. It's pretty impressive with standard items like the various prepared salads (chicken, tuna, etc). We wanted to try the sandwiches and for that you'll need to get the order forms from outside near the entrance, then take them to the counter, wait a bit and they'll call you when it's ready. We both got mediterranean sandwiches to go. You can get build your own as well but I figured I'd go with one on the menu. The sandwich was delicious. Fresh ingredients, really good bread, and everything just worked in the sandwich. I really enjoyed it. We also got some butter beans from the deli and those were amazing as well. I highly recommend Jerome's and will be back again.

First of all, I love this store and I feel very fortunate that we have Jerome's in our small town…read more This review is specifically a sandwich review, as I finally tried their in-house made sandwiches yesterday. We ordered 3 different sandwiches. All three were built generally the same. I personally had a pastrami on a French roll with several veggies to add freshness. Although the sandwich price at $12 is on par for custom built sandwiches these days, I was hoping for more meat and veggies that would stand apart from other delis. But it was probably the least filled sandwich that we all have had in a while. The bread was fresh as well as the ingredients, there just wasn't enough meat or vegetables in the sandwich. I think it is a decent sandwich for the convenience. I just won't get another sandwich or seek it out when looking for a deli sandwich. By the way, they did put a healthy portion of alfalfa sprouts. So if you like sprouts, maybe Jerome's will be your sandwich place.
