Lady Gray was the best bridal dress experience that I had! When I called Tina to make my appointment she asked if I had any idea about what kind of dress I wanted. My answer was "no but my biggest concern is my chest. I'm thinking a v neck would look nice, not too much cleavage and no mermaid, oh and I like pearls." When I got to my appointment Tina told me to look around and pick some dresses to try. When walking around I could see a dress in the back and I was like OMG, that's gorgeous, I wish it was on the floor, I assumed it was someone's dress so I didn't say anything. I tried a couple of dresses on and after a couple Tina said "after our conversation on the phone I put a dress to the side that I thought fit everything you described and that I think would fit you well" IT WAS THE DRESS IN THE BACK. She literally picked my dress from a phone conversation! I tried it on and it was the dress. Nothing else felt right after it. I didn't want to purchase it that day because I hadn't tried on many dresses and had another appointment after. Tina could tell I wasn't ready to purchase and told me to take my time and not to worry, get in touch if I want it. Well after that nothing compared, I called back two days later to ask if I could bring my dad and the rest is history. Tina was amazing and the shop had that nice home/family feel. My mom found a beautiful teal mother of the bride dress for my sister's wedding here that was absolutely stunning. And with the alterations that Tina did, the owner, the dress fit like a glove. Not only are they so helpful for finding a gown but she made last minute alternations so that my mom can pin up her gown and put on her dancing shoes. I had a similar experience to one of the other lady's on here. I was ready to settle for a dress at a different shop, and wanted to check out 1 more store. It just so happened that Tina at Lady Grey had an opening! I am so thankful she did because I found my dream dress! After trying on so many dresses I had an idea of the shape I wanted (fit and flare). Tina was able to pull great options for me based on my shape and the style I wanted. I tried on some great gowns, but the last one was it!!!! I loved the one on one service I received at Lady Grey! Tina is so helpful, honest and makes you feel like a valued customer. I was really impressed by the fact that she does her own alterations, but my dress fit like a glove so I actually did not need any alterations.....not even a hem! Tina did give me a french bussel which I loved! It was easy for my best friend to do the day of the wedding (it took her at most 5 min) it stood all night, and looked much more complicated. I know someone who recently got married and whose bussel took an hour to do so she missed her cocktail hour.....NOT ME! Tina was AMAZING ! I got engaged last week and my mom called and made an appointment with her for the Monday we got back from vacation. I have just begun the journey of searching for my bridal gown. Prior to visiting with Tina at Lady Gray I experienced the mass market bridal shops in Manhattan and boy could you tell there was a HUGE difference in service. Tina, who is the current owner and has been at the store for some 30+ years took over the business from her mother who opened the store 50 years ago! Now there is something to be said for a small town Mom and Pop shop that has been able to survive that long. Tina reminds me of "your best friends Mom", meaning she was happy to give her opinion and honesty but was not overbearing or pushy. My best friend/ MOH made the appointment for me, they asked her all the right questions over the phone in order to be prepared for the appointment. Once we got there I was amazed by the large selection of bridesmaid and mother of the bride gowns they carried! This shop has everything you need in one spot, including beautiful unique jewelry pieces and veils like I have never seen in magazines or other stores, and that because Tina makes them all to order! Not only does Tina make custom veils she also does all of the tailoring in house, once your dress comes in it never leaves the shop! I was further more amazed that the price of the gown included all of the tailoring and fittings a bride would need! After describing the style I was looking for Tina pulled gowns she thought I'd be interested in and honestly I couldn't have done a better job if I was the one pulling the gowns myself. I tended to lean towards the gowns designed by Maggie Sottero, however great quality and design was found in each dress. I have read some of the reviews below that make a point to bash on the fact that they do not allow photos to be taken of the gowns. I of course was saddened and frankly nervous once I heard this as well, how was I going to remember all the gowns and their detail?!? Tina explained that she had good reason for this and after hearing her explanation I could certainly understand her point since I experienced EXACTLY what she was talking about after visiting the bridal shops in Manhattan. I loved so many dresses when they were on me, perfectly pinned, and held in/up by the stylists. The image in the mirror looked great, but when we all went to get drinks after and my mom and bridal party showed me the photos they took I started second guessing everything. With that being said Tina assured me that I could come back and visit with "my dresses" whenever I wanted! My MOH also took diligent notes about each dress and their details and my opinion of them. I will certainly be coming back to Lady Gray, and I highly recommend that any bride in the area do the same, if not only to experience the compassion Tina has for her work and the industry, she treats each dress as though it belonged to a bride that was part of her family. read more

Tina and her staff are the utmost professionals. Tina has such a great eye, and does all of the alterations herself (which were included in the price of my bridal gown). Tina was very helpful in making some changes to my gown (taking a sash off/substituting covered buttons on the back etc). This store is so welcoming, and I felt comfortable each time I entered, from the day I picked out my gown to the day I picked it up. I've been to lady grey 2 times and it was 2 times to many I was in my cousins wedding and when I went to pick up my dress she gave me a really hard time and wouldn't do any alterations with the dress because I should of came sooner but I didnt have all of the money till then. She refused to do any of the alterations and when I went to try the dress on in the fitting room she said oh you lost weight with a sign because the dress was very big on me and then I replied and said well isn't that a good thing lol and she said I guess and walked away like annoyed and when I got changed and walked out of the room she said who are you having do your alterations because I won't be doing them you should of came sooner I apologized to her and said I'm sorry I didn't come sooner but I didn't have the money till now. She scolded and embrassed me in the store like I was a child and said well maybe next time you'll learn and won't wait too long then at the register she refused to take my debit card and told me I can't expect anything but cash and walked me to the door and had me walk to the nearest ATM. She made me feel so small just very cold and robot like. I totally respect her having her own business and that she does things a certain way but what I won't have respect for is how she talked to me and made me feel as a person. read more

I enjoyed working with Tina, although I did not find my dress here. The shop is small, and they have a limited number of dresses available, and just about none in the style I wanted. I hope they will consider expanding/relocating soon. The space I was trying on dresses in was absolutely freezing, and I had to stand around in the cold waiting - they should heat that space, as well as provide more privacy than a thin curtain. read more

Lady gray made my wish come true!! I went to so many big & small shops all over- from lower Westchester, upper, Poughkeepsie, to Orange County, even Rockland. I definitely went into at least 15 stores. Each experience disappointed, either they couldn't deliver the dress I described, had horrible customer service, dirty/smelly, or way too overpriced. Not lady gray! Yes, it's small- it's boutique & that's the service you get! You are remembered, given lots of 1on1 time (given that you have an appt), just really personal experience, not the for 5 minutes kind, but as long as you need. Don't get me wrong, lots of bridal shops give you 1on1 time, but almost never with an expert, but rather someone who has to go ask or confirm or ask the seamstress, or whatever other annoying thing that makes you wonder why you're even dealing with that person. Tina at lady gray will answer your questions about the product & altering directly herself, & if she can't, then she will call the manufacturer while you're there. She follows through on her word & is organized. Ok, I've spoken a lot about the service, & not so much about the dress. You see, you can get your dress anywhere really, try online. But that's not what a wedding dress is about. It's about becoming a "friend" with your seamstress, your "seller." You will go to the shop 3-4 times to try on your dress. In between each visit, you will panic with "is it going to come out right?," "is it on track?," "will it be late?," "will it fit my body right?," "will it be the right shade?," "will it be the right length?," oh & the best two- "will it be perfect when I go pick it up day(s) before the wedding?," & "did I pick the right dress?." You will have dreams & nightmares. But not with lady gray, I had all those thoughts & each one ended in my mind with, "I trust her." That you see is the most important part about selecting your wedding dress- trusting your "seller." I will now say that the dress I picked out & fell in love with, came out better than I dreamt of. I felt beautiful in it. It was the dress of a lifetime, purchased from a lady who deserved every cent I paid. Please go here & trust her! Tina was completely professional and encouraging throughout the appointment. I went into my appointment feeling hopeless, as I had been to many other dress stores from Rhode Island to New Jersey looking for something really special. I am also a "plus size" bride being a size 16. Other dress shops made a big deal over my dress size, but not the girls at lady gray. Tina asked specifically what I was looking for and pulled a few dresses off the rack to see if I liked them. She was not pushy at all and wanted to make sure I would find the dress of my dreams. Most of the sample sizes are a size 12 or 14 and I was still able to put them on (they didn't zipper obviously however I was still able to get a really good sense of how they would fit) They have some really beautiful dresses there and the customer service is exceptional. I felt very comfortable there. They are even inquiring about a dress they don't have to see if they can get it on a loan, which is really exciting since its a dress I've been dreaming about. I had actually gone to the store seeing if I could get some advice or possibly a new gown due to an ill fitting bridesmaid gown I had received from out of state. I could not go out of state for alterations. I really wanted to like the store having walked past it for years and looking forward for a reason to go in. However on my one and only visit one evening, one of the staff there scolded me about having gotten a gown elsewhere and I thought that was just completely unprofessional. Just respectfully decline and turn me away, I could totally respect that. Then when I did try something on, I was followed to the dressing room and was watched through the slats like a common criminal. I'm sorry, this was not a good experience. Maybe I was with the wrong staff person. My visit there was sincerely hoping to get some help. They were either being biased towards me or were having an off day, who knows. I wrote a review elsewhere and another reviewer jumped down my throat for my comment, I thought that was strange. read more

I am a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding, have been a bridesmaid in another 2 weddings, and very recently just got married myself. So I have been to probably about 15-20 bridal salons and dress shops in New York and New Jersey in the last 2 years. The dresses were very over priced (I used the same designer my friend chose) and the customer service from the owner and employees was awful. I live about 2.5 hours away from this shop in New Jersey and made the trip up for my friend. Once the dresses were selected, I asked the sales associate if they gave any discounts for ordering so many dresses or since my friend got her wedding dress there (1 wedding gown and 8 bridesmaids dresses). I was extremely polite in asking, as this was a common theme at many of the places I had already been to. Usually I have seen 10% off if you order more than x amount of dresses, or even more when you order the bridal gown from the same shop. She literally laughed in my face. To follow up, I asked if I could have the dress shipped home because I live far and I don't need to pay the NY sales tax. The associate called the owner over who proceeded to tell me how this designer doesn't do that - which I know is a lie because I had all of my bridesmaids dresses that were ordered in NY shipped to my house in New Jersey. She offered to have me pay for the shipping to send the dress from her store to my house (defeating the whole purpose of shipping it to NJ). WEDDINGS ARE EXPENSIVE - every little bit counts. I went to ask my friend if she felt okay with me ordering the dress elsewhere and she hesitated - I backed out because I didn't want to make her uncomfortable. As I was speaking to the bride, the owner told me in front of my friend, her mother, and the other bridesmaids "if the $15 really means that much to you, you can just go somewhere else". I was mortified. She has no idea about my financial status or how much I will be spending on this wedding and she called me out in front of everyone. To make it more awkward and uncomfortable, she kept calling me "sweetie" and "honey" when we were clearly not seeing eye to eye. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SHOP - OVERPRICED AND RUDE OWNER. read more

I went into the shop via a friends referral and had no idea what I was doing (or at this point what I had not been doing. Apparently, it was late in the game to be dress shopping). Even though we had limited time before my wedding to find a dress, order it, get fitted, altered...
