    Dubai Chocolate Mille Crêpes

I have nostalgia for crepe cake since my son requested one for his golden birthday. The case of cakes was so pretty when we walked by for lunch, so I was excited when someone wanted to share something sweet. I walked over and was surprised they were crepe cakes! The lady working suggested her favorite which was the chocolate Mille crepe- I probably would've picked the tiramisu personally. But it was delicious. The shop is set in the back and off from the main food court, but Mitsuwa is a busy place- so be prepared to hover around waiting for a table.

This crepe bakery stand passes the "Not too sweet" Asian mom dessert standards. Every-time I'm in the area shopping for groceries at Mitsuwa or having lunch in the food court, I make sure to stop by and grab a slice or two to share. The original cream one is a classic but lately I've been enjoying the strawberry matcha crepe cake. The crepe cakes are light and fluffy but if thats not to your liking, there are always a variety of cakes available too. The checkered chocolate vanilla cake is moist and I love the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake.

First impressions: the ordering process is not as easy and streamlined as one would think. First off, when I called the number, it was a central Lady M line, and when I asked to place an order with the Arlington Heights store, the lady said the stores don't have their own individual phone numbers (or they wouldn't share it), so I had to either place an order online (separate sites for more than 1 day vs. same day). She did offer to place an order for me on the phone so I did that. Glad I didn't bank on a same day order bc when I consulted the website, everything was out of stock. Next impression: dang, $66 for a 6" cake? It's definitely a splurge for the unique cake of 20 paper thin crepes with pastry cream in between each layer. Lady M is inside Mitsuwa marketplace, and it's a bit hard to locate, as it's tucked along a quiet, back wall next to Royce and the back of the food court. I circled around the sweets stands multiple times and questioned whether I recalled correctly that Lady M was indeed inside Mitsuwa. What's annoying is that there are NO prices whatsoever posted anywhere by the cakes or slices here. From research, it looks like current pricing is $11.50/slice. When I stopped in, there was signature, green tea, passion fruit, and tiramisu. Impressions when we tasted the signature cake: the pastry cream is very luxurious and of high quality, and the crepes are no joke! I'm sure it's very labor intensive to make crepes so thin and not burn or destroy them. The flavor and texture of the cake are delicate, but all in all, I wouldn't go out of my way for this again. Along with the cake, I was given a knife for cutting it and a set of metallic plastic forks. Note the Arlington Heights number is 224-285-0700 (handwritten on the business cards they have there).

Delicious, fresh crepe cakes--perfect for a special treat! I picked up the tiramisu and original flavors for my mom's birthday, and both were light, smooth, and not overly sweet. Lady M is tucked inside Mitsuwa Marketplace; just head past the registers and turn left--you can't miss it. Definitely worth the stop!

The cake itself at Lady M is as good as expected from a chain with their reputation--light, delicate, and delicious. However, I wish they had their own standalone café rather than being inside the noisy Mitsuwa food court. It's hard to enjoy a slice with coffee while trying to have a quiet conversation amid all the hustle and bustle. The service also left something to be desired. The girls working there were nice but seemed lazy and sluggish. We had to wait about ten minutes for someone to appear, and even then, the pace was slow. It definitely took away from the overall experience.

If you're looking for a delicious treat come to Lady M. I first tried it in NYC last year and dreamed about having a slice of this magnificent work of art again. Then, while I was out shopping I found this cute location! As soon as I walked up it felt as if I was back in NYC. It's a small cozy location inside of a market. To my surprise, it was just as fresh as when I tried it from the source in NYC. I was told by the sweet helpful lady to try the Checkers cake and my only regret was just getting one slice. Not only was it striking in appearance. But, the cake itself was decadent, light, and airy! I savored every last bite. It was $11 but, it was worth every last penny! Don't let the price scare you away from a once and a lifetime experience. She also was very kind and gave me a bag! Don't forget to add one of these beautiful bags to your order. Checkers Cake- The Checkers cake weaved together to create a precise checkerboard of classic and chocolate sponge cake. In between each layer there was a thin layer of fresh whipped cream, which ensured that every square was covered in this heavily cream. To tie everything together, it was topped with a thick silky coat of dark chocolate ganache. Truly a spectacular work of art that I'll never forget. You have to try it!

The Lady M cakes I knew from 5 years ago were so much better in my opinion. I've had the matcha crepe cake like 5+ years ago here and it was sooo good. They increased the prices so much that 1 slice is now $12.79 with tax. The service was fine since there was no line, it was very quick. This location is inside the Mitsuwa grocery store and I would not recommend it to everyone, unless you haven't tried crepe cakes before. Nothing too special about the cake itself.

I got my birthday cake from Lady M. Staff are pretty friendly and kept my cake in fridge to keep it fresh. Highly suggest order online ahead of time. Knock out one star cause they cannot do customization even add a few words on the cake. Chocolate and original flavor are my recommendations. I heard Lady M had a strawberry special cake a few months ago but I'm pretty sure it's not available in Chicago. Flavor is also consistent. This is another part I like Lady M.

I'm a little obsessed with Lady M with their unique flavor mille feuille. My favorites are earl grey and chestnut. I didn't know there is a Lady M inside Mitsuwa and felt like I hit the jackpot. Had jasmine calamansi and tiramisu. Jasmine was alright, extremely subtle and the edges were a bit dry. $11.5/slice is steep and I expected higher quality. However the tiramisu was so good and you have to eat slower as you don't wanna choke on the thick layer of cocoa. Can't wait to try chestnut soon since it's a seasonal flavor!

I would give up my first born child for a Signature Mille Crepe cake. Quick service, located within the food court area of Mitsuwa Marketplace

Went to the Chicago location in Mitsuwa. Bought 4 crepe cakes. Sat down to open the box. Only 3 pieces in the box. Went back to ask and no one is there. Hours online say they are open and it's 12:15pm on a Tuesday. Sign says they are closed and won't be back until 1pm. How does a business mess up an order and then go on break during the lunch rush. Finally saw someone in the back, when we got their attention they said "We're Closed!" Seems like the two girls working aren't interested in helping customers. I showed the one girl my receipt and she reluctantly got another piece for us. Bad customer service. Other issue is that the pastry case is above the legal limit for holding perishable food. You can clearly see in the picture the case is at 45*F. Law says maximum is 41*F. "Danger zone" is clearly listed on the thermometer. Food quality; Tiramisu: Bitter and lacking flavor. Passion fruit: Real seeds which is good. Crepe texture is firm and tastes stale. Mousse is okay. Matcha: Crepes taste old. Not enjoyable. (And I like matcha) Coconut: Same bad crepes. Overall: Crepes taste old and lacking flavor. (Probably from not selling any due to being closed for the busiest time of the day). Pieces are smaller than before. At $40 for 4 pieces of cake it should be perfect service and they should hold their product at the legal limit for food safety. VERY DISAPPOINTED AT MANY THINGS HERE.

I'm glad I got an opportunity to visit Lady M. Lady M is located in the Mitsuwa Food Court. If this is your first visit, it's difficult to locate. Here's how I was able to find it. If you go towards the back of the food court and hang left, you'll find it tucked away in the corner between Mama's house and the Shiseido cosmetics stand. The cakes are outstanding and I would easily give 5 stars for taste and presentation alone. However, this is Yelp and I like to rate on all aspects including cost, service, and ambiance. I knocked off one star in particular for the cost and limited selection. Before visiting the shop, I tried to call and see if they can hold cake slices for pick up. I was told they only place reservations for whole cakes only. Slices are sold based on availability and cannot be held. That bummed me out. I arrived later in the evening and wanted to try a slice each from their Signature and Seasonal cakes. Initially, I had planned on trying their Green tea mille crepe and Green tea checker cake. Both were unavailable by the time I had arrived so I had to settle for what was left. I tried their Chocolate Chess cake. That alone was amazing! It was soft, delicate, and delicious! It was not overly sweet which was nice too. Be forewarned, the cost of these delectable treats are pricey. Slices cost $9 a piece and a whole cake will set you back about $80 so be prepared. Overall, amazing but if you're only planning on ordering slices, call in beforehand to see what is available.

This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.
