We drove past Parlor Donuts while in suburban Chicago and since it was near my hotel, we decided to forgo breakfast and have donuts instead. Parlor Donuts is probably the nicest donut shop I've ever been in. Nicely furnished , products displayed well and just a bright and cheery atmosphere. Besides donuts, they serve breakfast sandwiches and various coffee type drinks. The choices are numerous and if I hadn't been on the website the night before, it would have taken far longer for me to make a decision. I tried the Coconut cream filled and my wife, the Lemon Bar. They were delicious! I tried the Lemon Bar as well. A huge difference with these donuts are they are described as "Sweet Layered Donuts" and remind me of a "Kronut" which is basically a croissant dough made into a donut type creation. Flavors are abundant and creative like French Toast, Bourbon Caramel, Raspberry Pistachio and Peanut Butter Cup. Despite the nice environment and delicious donuts, I found them to be quite expensive so as a daily donut and bagel aficionado, Parlor would not be a regular stop. Also, there are no cake or more traditional donuts-only the spectacular ones! They are usually eaten with a knife and fork. The plastic utensils provided are not robust enough to use on these. I was surprised how large this donut chain is. There are several in my home state of Michigan and I believe they are currently in sixteen states with nearly a hundred locations nationally. I'm not a cake donut fan, so I was a bit hesitant when I first came in and when I tell you, I'm forever changed.... I mean it. The flaky pillowy donuts from Parlor live rent free, I cannot tell you how many times I've been back for both sweet and savory donuts that I was shocked I have yet to write a review. The strawberry donut and the fig and pig donuts are my repeats always, but I love to try the seasonal ones as well. They have plenty of parking outside the shop, but it does get busy when they get busy during peak times. The donuts are made fresh daily and you can taste the quality. Came here around 8:45am on a Saturday morning and the place already had a healthy patronage. These donuts are exquisite looking and invite you to try them all. I ordered a dozen (good value because saves you $1 per donut, coming out to $39/dozen). The texture of the donut is fluffy and flaky, similar to a cronut. Fruit flavor donuts are always a highlight for me, so I loved the strawberry shortcake and lemon. I didn't get a chance to try the raspberry jelly or raspberry pistachio, but my family loved them. I also really liked the chocolate peanut butter donut. One donut that I advise against is the Chicago special with brownie batter filling, this was extremely messy. However, it might've been better if the donut was refrigerated and the filling less runny. We came from out of state and stumbled on this place and it's seriously was a 10/10. Plenty of parking, amazing customer service, ambience and inside seating was great, and we have ever started talking about the food. :0 The savory donuts were out of this world we got the BBQ chicken one and it was just sooooo fresh you could tell they just made it and writing this review is making me want to go back rn and get another one lol. Had the pleasure of visiting here over the weekend and so glad we did! WOW what a selection of unique donuts! I tried the Turtle donut and the Maple Bacon with my hot vanilla latte. They were so huge I needed to eat them in parts but oh so good! At first I thought they were going to be cake-like donuts but not really. They were big but light and not heavy. Thank goodness! In Chicago, the donut craze sort of hit like a tornado. It was massive, but seemingly over as fast as it landed. The love of donuts clearly lives on as strong as ever in the suburbs. I might have to make a list just for the top donut spots. This place would be up there. The hype around this place was no joke. My friends were checking in here and my family recommended it directly after their visit. Its hard to justify going this far from my area for donuts but I finally had a day off and a good excuse, so I made the trip. Worth it. Walking in before noon on a Saturday, seems like I got lucky. It was calm when I ordered but getting crazy by the time I left a few minutes later. The space is nice with big windows that let the sun in. You walk up to the counter and order, they have everything displayed right there in the case next to you so you can agonize over your choices. I got four donuts. The Chicago Style (a featured donut), the bourbon caramel, the lemon bar, and the peanutbutter cup. They have perfectly sized 4 pack boxes too. Cute. So who else remembers the cronut craze? One place did it, then everyone was doing it, then it just disappeared. These donuts are similar, structurally. Flakey tender layers inside, a nice crispy outside, these are good donuts. They hold up to the toppings and fillings your getting as well. They look massive but they're so airy you can keep eating them! I started with the bourbon caramel. Really good flavor on this one. The bourbon flavor is actually noticeable, which I loved, but if you just want caramel it might be a bit much for you. Next up was my new favorite donut, the lemon bar. The lemon curd on top with the icing and whipped cream was just perfect. I'd get this every time. The Chicago Style is decadent. This was the only filled donut I got and the brownie batter filling is rich and delicious! Chocolate sauce topping with Twix crumble too... just a home run. I saved the peanutbutter cup for thr next day, and the donut holds up. Over twenty four hours later and it's still soft and perfect, not stale or hard at all. The toppings are just Chocolate and peanutbutter, but those are always a good combination. It was quite tasty. Price point is high for donuts, but not really for luxury donuts like these, and by today's standards its almost reasonable. They certainly made sure everything was clean and stocked. Their professionalism was remarkable and welcoming. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy your sweet and/or savory donut and a drink. I was recently staying in the Chicago suburbs and saw this unique donut shop nearby. We were craving an afternoon treat so ended up ordering delivery from Parlor Doughnuts to try their unique layered donuts. I was surprised to see that they have sweet and savory donuts and had to try the savory. We ended up ordering a seasonal blueberry cheesecake and a margherita donut. First starting off with the margherita donut, the donut base was great with a crispy outer layer topped with a tangy tomato sauce, cheese, and basil. It did come a bit cold and we didn't wait to heat it up but I'd imagine it would be better warm. The soft yet crunchy donut makes for a great base for the pizza toppings and we really enjoyed this! The blueberry cheesecake was good as well with the donut sprinkled with sugar but I was a bit disappointed that the donut wasn't filled and the only blueberry cheesecake flavor was in the topping. I liked that it wasn't too sweet but it could have been better filled with cream. Overall the texture of the donut is nice and fun to try. Went to Parlor Doughnuts today due to their Vegan/Gluten Friendly Donuts. My son is allergic to gluten, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, and soy. We read their ingredients online and it was all free from those ingredients. We called and asked about their preparation process and area and they prepare and cook their Vegan/Gluten Friendly doughnuts separately from the regular donuts. When we ordered, they did mention that there still is gluten in the kitchen but we were OK with trying it. We ordered the following: Sandy Beach, Double Chocolate, Strawberry with on chocolate, and French Toast. My son tried the Double Chocolate and wanted to devour the whole thing. The doughnut is cake style versus the raised style. He said it wasn't dense and really liked it. He can't wait to try the others. I was so excited to come here! The parking lot though....I was a bit confused. I thought I was going to be able to cut through a lot. The two possible entrances to the lot were kinda small and you had to be heading from a certain direction. The space was pretty spacious and spread out! This place opened not too long ago and if you're not looking for it, you may miss it! They're in between two busy streets so again, look out for it while passing by. The inside is decorated charmingly. It gives southern charm vibes with the decorating. There are couches, a dining room area with tables and chairs, and then some more seating in the front. As those of you who read my reviews know, I can't have dairy or gluten. This makes getting food difficult to say the least. The most problematic are cakes and other deserts. Parlor Donuts offers dairy-free, gluten-free donuts (in addition to ones with gluten and dairy). They are actually very good - surprisingly good. When you go there, they make these to order and they take great care in making them look as good as they taste. I'm afraid I can't compare Parlor Donuts to other donut shops since I can't eat anything at the other stores. But the donuts here are tasty, decorated nicely, and are very fresh.
