While I absolutely love the space (especially the vault door that was left behind when the old bank was remodeled for the smattering of businesses that are now there), the skill of the colorist leaves much to be desired. Leah is an interesting and friendly woman, but she messed up the coloring so badly, that I had to go back for a second after-hours appointment so that she could correct it. I'd requested blond on top, pink peekaboo color, and to leave my natural brown underneath. I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad in a broad sense, but it totally is (bad) in this case since the cost was over $200, I was sitting in the chairs (to dye, to dry, to rinse, and to style - with dismay on my part) for over 4 hours, and I had to go back to have it fixed. I suspect that her trainee didn't rinse the pink colorant out enough and I ended up with pink splotched blond hair (and my natural brown underneath). Though Leah did fix it, more or less, a few days later, I won't be going back. Side note: if you book with her, be forewarned that she doesn't cut hair. I don't know if I was told that when I booked and just forgot or wasn't told, but I was surprised when she told me she doesn't cut hair after I said how many inches I wanted cut off and had already had to put down a $50 non-fundable fee at the time of booking (which is why I stayed). For the price, I'm still amazed that a cut wasn't included. Anyway, I was bummed then and I'm bummed now. read more

Wow, I was treated so nice, neck & scalp massage with oils, a hair wash that was so relaxing. Sanitizing was done after I left the hair washing bowl. The staff was tidy snd careful with sanitation. A lot of great treatment and hair style suggestions were suggested as my stylists worked on my hair. I'll be back, I felt like my stylist listened to me and took great care of me and my first visit. When the haircut started with "beer or wine" I wanted to cry. The aromatherapy was unexpected. And then the shoulder and scalp massage began. Had a lovely experience today with Alyssa. My 11 year old daughter needed to get long layers cut into her hair. She was hesitant to cut her hair as her goal is to wear it long. I knew that long layers would take a lot of the weight off her hair and make it easier for her to style. Alyssa was her stylist and she was patient and very kind to my daughter. She listened to my daughter's concerns. Alyssa styles with confidence and we immediately knew that we were in good hands. She provided a beautiful cut that made my girl look and feel great! Recently moved to the Grass Valley area. Have been looking for a salon. The first one I went to was a disaster. Tried Champagne Janes for a cut and blow dry. Very cute salon. The stylist started with a scalp and shoulder massage, very nice. Shampoo was fine. Overall I am pleased with the cut (I wear my hair very short). The only reason I probably will not return is the price. The cut was $58 so by the time I tipped it was a $70 deal. If I had some coloring or other procedures done it would be fine, but just a cut and blow dry??? read more

Most of the stylists/estheticians are from the old Bon Bon salon that closed. I started going to Taryn for waxing when she was at Bon Bon and I'm so glad that she's still around. I've gone to Leah for color and Catherine for cuts since they were both at Bon Bon Salon. They are the best around, what you'd normally find in a big city salon. The price is a little on the high side, but not as pricey as what I used to pay in San Francisco, and Catherine's cuts last for 10 weeks they're that good. Leah is a master with color. She always gives me the "natural, doesn't look like I get my hair colored" look that I want. I'd rather scrimp and save in another area of my life than with my hair. I'm a forever fan. read more

Love this salon. Leah colors my roots and she also does great hi-lites. I have dark brown hair and she did a subtle beautiful job so that my hair shimmers. I also have Catherine cut my hair and just love her! She did the keratin treatment on my hair and I have no more unruly frizzy hair. It lasts 4-5 months, I'm told. I am just finishing month 3 and it still looks fantastic. I just moved here from the bay area and have to say that this salon provides stylish cuts and color for a competitive price. Nice salon, but...I have seen 1 stylist. Her services are adequate but overpriced. Her scheduling is sketchy...2 of 3 appointments this calendar year were changed, with no apology for the inconvenience. Another was cancelled when she went out of town but I wasn't notified. At my last appointment she put something on my hair and said "I don't know what it was." She abandoned the service and declined to reschedule, saying that's what her gut told her to do. No one ever told me what the liquid was, and no one apologized for the error. Be wary of any liquids that are put on your hair. read more
