This review is for Sera…read more I completely understand that a stylist's time is valuable, and I know it's frustrating when clients are late. I also understand why my appointment needed to be rescheduled. My issue is not with the policy, it's with how I was treated. I was made to feel like an inconvenience from the moment I walked into the salon. I had a 12:45 p.m. appointment and called before leaving home to let the salon know I was running about 10 minutes late, which is their stated grace period. The receptionist told me she would let Sera know. At 12:56 p.m., when I was literally one minute away from the salon, I received a call saying Sera could no longer see me because I was late, and she had back-to-back clients. While I was disappointed, I understood. I asked if I could still come in briefly to speak with Sera because I wasn't even sure I needed a full highlight service, and the receptionist agreed. When I arrived, Sera immediately told me I needed to reschedule and seemed unwilling to discuss my hair beyond commenting that the back was "really dark" and explaining that she had returning clients scheduled after me. She didn't seem to know or care that I was a returning client. Sera had done my hair in February, and I came back because I had really liked her work. Not recognizing me in and of itself is not a big problem--I know a lot of people sit in her chair--but it made the interaction feel impersonal and left me wondering if she'd even prepared for my appointment. I was fully prepared to work with Sera and the receptionist to find another date and time that fit both of our schedules. Instead, both were unhelpful, dismissive, and rude. This experience was especially difficult because I have pretty severe alopecia areata that, thankfully, is now well controlled with medication, allowing me to grow most of my hair back. That said, I wore a wig for five years after losing most of my hair, so finding a stylist I trust is still an incredibly vulnerable and anxiety-producing experience. Every time I see someone new, I have to explain my hair loss and why I prefer a lived-in color that doesn't require overly frequent trips to the salon. I chose to return to Sera because I thought I had found someone I could continue seeing. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and genuinely upset. I walked out of the salon, called my husband, and cried like a reprimanded little girl. I am a 35-year-old grown-ass woman. Policies are important, and I respect them. Kindness and professionalism are just as important. Had the situation been handled with empathy and respect, I would have happily rescheduled. Instead, I left feeling less like a person and more like a time slot or a dollar sign. It seems like Sera may have enough clients that turning one away isn't a big deal, but I was respectful, cooperative, and ready to work with her to find another appointment. I deserved that same courtesy and respect in return.

I had a great consultation prior to my appointment and Jessica was very knowledgeable. She took GREAT care of my curls and took my natural hair color of black to this GORGEOUS coppery color with NO bleach. The cut was awesome as well! She really cut into my hair got off all of the dead ends even at my shortest layer! Her attention to detail was overly appreciated. My curls are perfectly in tact under this blowout! I'm very pleased. The salon is gorgeous as well. Parking was pricey BUT Everyone was very polite, helpful and efficient! They were getting people in&out so fast! I needed some help like picking a shorter hairstyle and the stylist didn't want to help me make decisions at all. I had to ask for product at the end because she just wanted to kick me out with giant puffy hair because she brushed it when it was dry really really hard. I washed and brushed my hair right before I got in the car to go to the salon and there was no reason to brush out my hair like I was a kid before picture day. My hair feels so fried now. I have 3C curly hair and I left feel like my hair looks like a giant triangle. None of the staff would talk to me and everyone was really really hostile and unfriendly and when I was paying the owner started screaming (I think at me?) about how I didn't want to get a color on my hair like I had booked because they told me they were gonna charge me twice the price when I got there and then she complained that I was losing her business money. I'm gonna end up going to another salon somewhere else because my hair looks terrible. I asked for the bare minimum and she did less than that. I felt like she just didn't want to touch me or work on me. I don't know if they don't like cutting men's hair or if it's some other reason. I wanted a regular short men's haircut and instead I got this really weird bob cut. I asked the stylist why she left the back of my hair like 4 inches longer than the sides and she said it was because of my "curl pattern". I gave her the benefit of the doubt that it would look different once it relaxed or something, but it looks really uneven all over. I also had to ask her to even out her own work a few times because she would just leave random strands of hair three times the length of the other strands and like claim did not notice. I have to try to get it fixed before I start my new job because I don't want my boss to think that this is what I bring to the table. Who gives someone this weird asymmetrical cut when they just wanted everything the same length? I told her I didn't like my hair and she said "well, what do you want me to do about it?". She just kept asking me over and over again what I wanted and I kept telling her like how I wanted it fixed and she kept saying like she basically didn't know how to cut my hair. It wouldn't kill their staff to actually treat the people who come in through the door like human beings instead of like an imposition that they just want to go away. It's super awkward having your hair ripped out of your head repeatedly because someone won't just go get a wide tooth comb and they also won't speak to you. You don't brush 3C hair with a paddle brush as hard and as fast as you can and then claim you know how to handle curly hair. I really hate this haircut and I hate how much my scalp hurts right now because someone wouldn't take the time to comb my hair the right way. My stylist literally hid in the back of the salon for 20 minutes texting on her phone instead of cleaning her station like she said she was and she was late to my appointment. I don't know that she knows that I could see her reflection in the salon mirrors and I know she was avoiding me.
