The food looks amazing... but tastes like absolutely nothing. It's one of those hot-bar-style spots where someone prepares your plate as you go down the line, so you'd think you'd be getting some good old-fashioned home cooking. Nope. I could never eat any of the meat -- and I'm not even vegetarian! The meat just doesn't look appetizing... more like fresh roadkill than Sunday dinner. I usually stick to the vegetables because at least they look good. The only things with any real flavor are the collard greens (and maybe the cabbage if you catch it on a good day). But seriously -- where is the seasoning? I shouldn't have to drown my food in table salt just to taste something, and I'm not trying to leave with high blood pressure! And then there were the flies. If they hadn't landed on my food, I might've actually enjoyed the cornbread. Between that and the bland flavors, it was a wrap. The service was halfway decent, though. One waitress was genuinely kind, a few others seemed a little short, but the cashier on the way out was super nice. Still, nice service can't make up for food this disappointing. I've actually been to The Ladybug twice. The first time, I thought maybe I wasn't feeling well and that's why the food didn't hit right. Went back to give it another chance -- and nope, it wasn't me. I'm not sure if we went on a off day but the food sucked.I got grilled chicken and it was tough bland and there was a part of it that was pink. The French fries were warm at best.My husband got catfish and onion rings.The Onion rings tasted like fish.So I think they used the same oil and very greasy. Also the Cole slaw was to sweet. They make this great burger called "The Bud's Burger". Got 2 of them last night and I said "all I want is slaw, chili, onion". That's not what I got. Ticks me off. Plain and simple food at an affordable price point. Me and the hubby both had 2 eggs over medium with liver mush and he had sausage along with hash browns and toast. Not horrible but not the best I've had either. My biggest complaint they use too much oil way too much! The place could use a good clean and the staff was efficient is all I can say. It looks like they offer a cafeteria style lunch that's pretty run of the mill too! It did have a good health score of 95.5 so there's that. read more

Food is great! Have driven by that for years in our way to the beach from Charlotte. Wadesboro is one of the last places to eat for a long stretch. We took a chance, so glad we did. HOT bar FULL of good old southern cooking. Fried chicken, cornbread, collards and yams so good. Cooking like my grandma it's a lost art. It's a little dated inside but country cute! DO expect soggy green beans and collards flavored with fat back. For Wadesboro, probably the most culturally diverse place in town. All welcome. Friendly "you want fried chicken or fried fish sweetie?" type of place. Breakfast served all day. Decent prices overall. Certainly a change to the normal Anson County culinary options of Sonic, McD, Waffle, BO's or Hess Gas Station. Only complaint is that if going old school, do everything home made. Wow! On the way to the beach when the hubby starts complaining about hunger!! We saw it from the road and decided to stop in... We ordered the buffet bar (completely covered with servers fixing your plate) it was amazing, the fried chicken was AMAZING! As was the chicken n' dumplings, the gravy was as good or better than KFC. My husband and I went there for lunch today May 16, 2021 We had our drinks my Pepsi was flat. 42 minutes go by no food. 43 minutes pass I raise my husband's Ice tea glass asking for his 1/2 tea to be refilled She filled it 1/2 tea 1/2 lemonade. 44 minutes after ordering our food or it arrived. My baked was 1/2 raw. The fake butter would not melt. My hamburger steak was dried out. The waitress never came back to correct his tea. I watched others receive their refills. The service was unenthusiastic at best and the food was served on styrofoam with plastic utensils. No explanation given. The dining area was so grubby! Stopped by on the way though town. We were looking for anywhere that wasn't a chain (or mexican food) and happened upon the Lady Bug. Bacon cheeseburger and chili cheese fried were solid, chili was a bit sweet and not too spicy. Cheeseburger was pretty good, better than fast food at a similar price. Would recommend. Bacon was good, pancakes were above average, and the hash browns were fantastic (with cheese). Service was great, everyone was friendly and server was attentive. No frills, basic, good food cheap kind of place. My friend & I ate here on our way to the beach from Charlotte. I had a veggie plate with turnip greens, field peas, cabbage, & peach cobbler. (In NC that's a vegetable.) It was all good! My friend had hamburger steak with onions, field peas, & corn on the cob. Her hamburger steak was a bit over cooked, as was the corn, but it was 2:00 in the afternoon. Maybe it would have been a little better at noon. The sanitation grade is an A with a 95.0 grade, the folks that work here are really nice & call you "sweetie". If you're looking for someplace to take a date, this probably isn't it. But if you're looking for decent food that's not a fast food chain, for a fair price, give it a shot. read more

We only went here once and decided it wasn't worth a second visit. I ordered the country-fried steak and got the salad bar. We went at dinnertime and the place was mostly empty. I got a tiny piece of steak with no gravy and the salad bar was miserable. There were fewer than 10 items and the lettuce was turning brown. The dressing tasted watered-down. My meal (approx. 4 oz. fried cube steak and a salad with brown lettuce, some carrots, mild cheddar, and watery bleu cheese dressing) was $12. Very disappointing. I'm sure other things are better, but our meals were seriously bad. Waffle House has better food than this. read more

It will fill you up if hungry, but halfway through eating you'll realize it is horrible and bland. This spot caught our eye on a long drive home. The food was very good and it really had a diner feel. The decor was a little dated. The wait staff was very accommodating to my family.
