Our 14 month old loves Ladybug Music! He really responds to the music and instruments (especially the drums!) that he gets to experiment with in class. The class feels like the right length for him--not too long--and it gives him good exposure to other kids of different ages. We are on the more cautious end of the spectrum when it comes to Covid safety, so requiring adults to be masked + vaccinated was essential in our feeling comfortable doing an indoor class weekly. Our son also really responds to our instructor, Cynthia! We are counting down the days between the Summer session ending and Fall starting. Can't wait to get back. read more

My son was just under a year old when we began. Teacher, Beth, is an incredible musician and teacher: the ease with which she shepherds this class is pure magic. It doesn't hurt either that her voice is solid gold. The parent, nanny, grandparent culture is supportive, open, and loving. My son's social awareness and ability to follow directions has greatly developed - as well, of course, as his joy of music. We will be there for the next session. We highly recommend. read more

Solid music class but my one complaint is that there is no variety. It is the exact same class with the same songs each week for the whole 8 week session so it has gotten boring. It would be nice if they mixed it up once in a while with new songs, new instruments etc to keep everyone engaged. not likely to continue for another session because of this. read more

We've been moving and shaking with Ladybug Music for almost 5 years now. My oldest daughter and I started with Saskia. It was our very first parent and me class and I'll never forget how she started the class, "If you can't sing, sing louder!" A couple of months ago, my younger daughter and I took our very last class with Beth (who's been singing with us for a little over 4 years). The core of each session is a CD that is given out at the end of the first class. It includes modernized song versions of old nursery rhymes and some original songs. My favorite thing about Ladybug Music, other than the fantastic teachers, is the music. There's rap, jazz, country, folk versions of familiar nursery rhymes. It's a refreshing break from the sometime condescending, obnoxious versions of kid's songs! The class includes small discussions about music and the little ones get hands on with instruments! There's free dance and you can really feel the rhythm when the shakers and sticks are handed out! The music is so popular in my family that my sister-in-law in Denver has a CD and she's never even had the pleasure of attending the class! Our CDs have helped us get through boring traffic and even lulled my girls to sleep in the car (when they used to nap). We are a Ladybug Family. My older son attended class from babyhood right up to starting preschool, and my younger son started accompanying us to classes when he was still a newborn the Moby wrap. I find the teachers and staff warm, enthusiastic and loving, and the music is fun and engaging. I also really love the CDs. Kids' music can be grating but these are fun to listen to over and over. And the kids and I never get bored of it. We've been in class with Beth since the beginning and wouldn't have it any other way. I'm sure the other teachers are equally awesome, but I wouldn't know first-hand. She is just the quintessential first teacher. Very approachable for little kids. Relaxed, pleasant, and with an easy, welcoming smile. They all love her instantly and allow her to open up the world of music appreciation to them. She recently performed at my youngest's first birthday party, and all the families there wanted to get the info for joining her class. I like that the classes are not overstimulating, but are fun. I like that different props and instruments come out, and then have to be put away. Sometimes that can be hard for kids, but it helped my boys learn to be able to handle it with ease. I like that there is a routine the class follows, but that new songs and ideas are introduced all the time. Some of the songs have worldwide cultural influences, and use complicated time signatures. I love that my kids get exposed that kind of thing! The class also encourages self-expression and participation, bolstering confidence. I find working with the office very easy as they strive to be accommodating. And I find the price for class, as compared to other children's classes in LA, to be reasonable. This class taught my kids to love music. My older boy now has a passion for music that I believe will stay with him. So I can't help but be utterly enamored of Ladybug. Highly recommend! read more

We started our son in Ladybug classes at 4 month olds and now at 2 1/2 years old we just finished our last session. Ladybug Music is everything you could want for your kids. Let me start off by saying how special Ladybug music has been to our family over the last 4+ years. Each of our 3 children have absolutely adored Ladybug class and teacher Beth. Beth has a beautiful voice and she interacts with the children with such patience and grace. The songs are interactive and unique, the instrument inclusion is spaced perfectly to keep the children engaged, and the room is comfortable for the children to roam. Although my older two kids are in school now, they still know all of the Ladybug songs on all of the cds as we listen to them religiously at home and on the go. My daughter (now age 6) frequently pretends to be Beth and plays her guitar while leading a Ladybug class for her baby dolls. Ladybug has played an integral role in our children's upbringing and we are forever grateful. Patricia has created a truly magical experience for so many children (and parents too!). read more

UPDATE: Unfortunately, my favorite teacher was replaced. Molly had the personality of Oprah and the voice of Bette Midler and the kid-skills of an American Mary Poppins. Despite Molly encouraging ALL parents to stay in Ladybug throughout her tenure, I do not recommend this company any longer. Good luck, Molly! Teacher Molly - Westside, Venice, Malibu, Palisades, Santa Monica - is incredible! The kids love her so much, and she's very attentive and professional. She has a talent for getting all of the parents, nannies, and grandparents involved, moving and shaking. I highly recommend Ladybug--it's so important for the kids for learning and socializing--but I especially recommend the classes with Molly! read more

My family loves music class. Each week my son asks when he gets to go to music class. It's set up in a way that's easily conducive to meeting other parents with children of a similar age. We love Teacher Annie and Teacher Molly. I enjoy watching my son and others in the class grow and learn to tap and sing along to the original music and choreography. Each semester comes with a CD of mostly original music of all different styles. I only wish we had started our son sooner! Although most of the children are between 18 months and 3 years old, there are babies in the class that are clearly benefiting from being exposed to the music class at such a young age. read more

So we found Ladybug Music pre-COVID; my two year old at the time only got to enjoy 2-3 classes before the shut down. We tired doing the zoom music class but it just didn't work for us. I then signed up to get email notifications so we could sign up the second in person classes started. A year and half went by (or so) and there it was- in person classes!! At this point I now sign up my 3.5 and 1.5 year old. THEY LOVED COMING TO MUSIC. Seeing their bond grow and having a blast through music and instruments has been some of the sweetest moments I've witnessed. We are now doing our 3rd session I believe with ladybug newest teacher Cynthia and she's great! The kids love her and she has an amazing voice! It's also a huge plus that the music they play is good. It's all music made by the founder Patricia and I will say listening to this on repeat in the car is 100 times better than listening to baby shark. read more

My daughter and I have been attending Ladybug music for the past year and a half (we started when she was 16 months old.) and have very much enjoyed our experience! I think it does depend on which teacher you get because teaching style/personality can vary with each instructor and you also want to find the one that will jive with you/your child. We love Beth (Studio City location) and would highly recommend her since she has a very calm yet engaging style of teaching. She's gentle and very respectful to each child in her class -- she respects how each child takes in the music. Every kid is different, some like to observe while others like to imitate and do all the motions to the songs, but either way she allows each child to experience music the way it feels natural to them and not force anything. Beth is also great at explaining throughout class in a seamless way certain musical terms or tips that parents can do at home to expose our children to music and rhythms. (It probably helps that she has kids of her own!) The format of the class flows nicely, not too long and not too short. It can get a bit loud when it comes to the "picking out your own instrument and playing along with the music" section, so just be aware if you have really little ones or sensitive ears. But in general it's a music class so of course it's going to be loud at some parts and the instrument section only lasts for about 3+ minutes. The music itself is fun to listen to and sing along to - the worldly vibes of classic kid's songs are original. My daughter will still sing out songs she learned sessions ago and I feel this class has nurtured her love of music even more. We are thankful we found Ladybug Music! read more

Ladybug music is different from any other children's music we have listened too. It takes old classics and brand new songs and changes them up a bit to explore and expose you and your children to all different rhythms and genres of music. The music is fun and very catchy; even I really enjoy listening to it. The classes go above and beyond other children's music classes I've attended. The excitement about music is infectious and the parent involvement is wonderful. My daughter loves all the movement and instrument play that goes along with every song. She is constantly singing and dancing at home, and when the Ladybug CDs are playing she is performing the moves just as she learned in class. read more

I've been taking my daughter to Ladybug classes and I've seen the amazing growth in her personality and rhythm. She loves dancing and clapping to the songs and is always so curious with all the different sensory items during the class. Sometimes it gets repetitive for adults but I can see her excited expression when she recognizes a song. I would love to keep signing up for future classes, especially for the social interaction, but it gets a bit pricey in the long run. I'm glad they gave a CD though so we can continue the music at home. read more

I thought this program was fine. The music was original and I liked that aspect. What I wasn't too crazy about was the teacher Annie. On the first day of our scheduled class my husband brought our son and the teacher said he wasn't on the list and was rude to him about it. I took him to the next couple classes after that and she was rude to me as well. After our session as over we decided not to sign up for another session. After speaking with other mothers who have tried the program I found we are not the only parents who feel this way about this particular teacher. Some of my friends have other teachers and seem to love them. Either way, one session was more than enough for us. read more

The music is pretty fun but we really got a cookie cutter vibe after the personal touch of the other place. Our teacher while very friendly, she didn't seem to command anyone's attention and didn't seem invested in teaching the kids. We've had our 3 year old in for the last year and it is BY FAR his favorite thing to do all weekend!! There is nothing that doesn't feel very well thought out by Ladybug. We've had two different and equally amazing "teachers". The music is all original, well produced and is full of endless earbugs I catch myself singing all week. We have a 3 year old boy with a typical 3 year old boy attention span and he mostly stays very involved. But when he "drifts" the atmosphere allows for him to wander and remain involved without teach and parent "evil eye". Everyone gets it and we're all happy to be there. This is hands down my daughter's favorite class that we go to, and we've been to a bunch of different ones. We listen to the CDs at home and in the car and sing the songs -- it's become a really fun and positive part of our lives. Ladybug basically made my son love music. When we first joined class my son was only 7 months old and all the sounds and new people quite frankly freaked him out. But the teacher (Saskia at the time) was so nurturing and did not push him at all, and over the 10 week course he became a new, music-loving kid. He would even sing nonsense melodies to himself that morphed into simple little songs. So we kept going and he's kept on loving it more and more. Now, at 18 months, he knows the melodies to almost all the songs and even sings along with a lot of the words. He's picked up all the body and hand movements to go with the songs, and his sense of rhythm and interest in music and instruments is outstanding. Ladybug really has made him love and appreciate music. Now when I say it's time to go to Ladybug class he lights up like a Christmas tree and laughs all through class. We were sad when Saskia moved away, but we love Beth just as much. The structure of the class is well-researched and developmentally appropriate for kids. And the music is actually good. I even enjoy jamming to it. Which is a good thing since my son asks for me to play the CDs all the time. I'm really grateful we found Ladybug. read more
