I would urgently advise anyone even considering Lafferty for any type of work, to do due diligence and look elsewhere. I have many photos of careless work, failure to clean up not only construction debris , but personal items such as cigarettes, lunch containers, water and cola bottles. Also, at the end of everyday there were screws, screening, etc. left in the bottom of the pool. I had asked for a cover for this exact reason-possible rust stains- and was told that the crew is VERY careful and checks everyday. However, nothing such as a shop vac or even a broom was ever brought to the site. My pool person left several pieces of equipment for scooping out the bottom and she changed the filter to run after work hours throughout the night so the workers could see what needed to be taken out on a daily basis. Then there is the final result- obviously, someone from Lafferty measured incorrectly because after 22 years of a straight back cage wall, I now have a slanted one that, in effect, presents an appearance of an uneven slant that is very noticeable. Also, the vertical bars that abutted each side of the raised fountain area are off kilter- one abuts and the other is about 10" off to the right. I will need to have a new pool deck installed; they don't tell you that they will not follow the original vertical locations nor cover them with the new construction. The first inspection failed because there were many areas that needed change to make the cage stronger. A second inspection has not been done. I suppose it's 'looser' in Brevard County than Indian River. HOWEVER, I was emailed today in response to my request to adjust the screen door-huge gaps- that Lafferty will not do anymore work until the final payment is made! A workman told me that Lafferty has been fined several times. I certainly wish I had known that before agreeing to this project, Outwardly, the salesman appears very knowledgeable and promised me that the cage would be the same design but with much better materials. That's what I asked for and the drawings supported that. This company has never understood the concept of trying to make the customer happy. Nor do the owners have much integrity, from what I wrote above to notarizing a document that contained my signature but not in my presence nor with my permission. read more

The two men that did the job were very professional. They got the job done fast and did a great job. There was one panel that needed trimming and they did it when I asked. They worked great as a team. I guess there was some confusion about the bill. I had assumed that because the company had my card numbers it would had been automatically billed. I received a call from a staff member about payment. He was kind enough to tell me about a percentage increase when using a credit card and explained how I was able to pay the bill using a different method. They sent me a link and payment was made in the same hour. I just wish I was told about this before, It would had saved a lot of confusion. They gave us more options and explanation of what was possible than other contractors we contacted for a quote on replacing our hail damaged lanai and their price was reasonable. I'm so disappointed with Michaels Screening Inc. Cody came to give me an estimate for a one-sided porch, including the door screen and a kick plate. The estimate was way way overpriced at a whopping $1034.00. So today I got another estimate from Greg's Screen Repair for $207.00. Wow what a major difference right!!!! I had this company put a privacy fence in a couple years ago. Did a beautiful job no problem. Recently just had another privacy fence in and even though the fence was put in ok they cut into water line for sprinklers that they knew ahead of time that it ran down the side of the yard beside where the fence was being installed. They cut it in two places. Once place they fixed the other one which was the worse one they just covered with dirt and left it. I did not know of the other cut until I put the water on the next day. Had to call someone to come out and paid out of pocket to have fixed. Talked with owner of this business and she said they were not liable that the guy did fix the one and paid for the stuff out of pocket but did not know of the other one. This is crap there was no way he did not know he cut into that water line. They knew of the water line and sprinklers and the location. I do not recommend this place. I will not use them again or recommend them to people. I feel they are liable for repaying me for their incompetence of cutting into the water line. They need to hire people who care about the property of the people that has hired them. read more

I was impressed from the very beginning. The estimate was free and was told it would be 4-6 weeks before they could start at the time our HOA had approved the project. They would remove and replace a shadowbox fence and 2 gates. They went ahead and replaced our neighbor's gate also at her request and put it all on one project. They even checked our other neighbor who is handicapped if they could remove his fallen gate also for which he consented. The guys worked 4 days in temperatures over 90 degrees and the work was awesome. The fence lines were laser straight, gates swung freely. I couldn't be happier. Everyone from the office to the field crew were very polite and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend highly for fence work. read more

In Dec 2019, Michels re-screened our entire pool enclosure, replaced bolts, and re-enforced the structure in several areas. They did a great job and were professional.
