This place is the best place for Indian food for miles. Everything is perfectly flavoured and seasoned and tastes fresh and light. Love the naan bread and the mixed chicken sampler but I've tried pretty much everything on the menu and it's all excellent, whether vegetarian or meat dishes. Picked up delicious Indian take out in the most unexpected location! Lageez at Pharmacy and St. Clair. The food was delicious and ready on time, prices were quite reasonable, especially considering the quality, and they have hubby's favourite Okra dish, and do it the best of all the places we have tried. The butter chicken was not too sweet, a relief since so many other places make it too sweet. The lamb was really tender, my favourite. After trying take out places in Scarborough, and Gerrard Street, and never finding "the one", Lageez is the winner. Might try dining in next time, but it is great having a reliable place for take out. Really good Indian food! For a small strip mall location, in somewhat of a run down area, fairly nice restaurant. We had the Butter Chicken, Chicken Biryani and Lamb Vindaloo. All dishes were very good, large portions and prepared fresh. The naan bread was delicious. Gave 4 stars for slow service, there was only one person out front, but there was only one other small table occupied. Still waiter was friendly, just seemed to take excessively long to take order, bring drinks and deliver bill at end. Will go back, leaning to takeout. read more

Heard about this jewel of a restaurant from a friend. Situated in a non- descript strip plaza on Pharmacy near St Clair Ave East, it is not in a highly visible location, yet don't let the location or the neutral exterior deter you. The food is exquisite, so much so that my wife, who did not enjoy Indian food, likely from going to bad Indian buffet restaurants has had a definitive change of heart because of the influence of this Indian restaurant. Started with the combo appetizer, along with the Noorani Seekth. Added chicken curry, goat curry with bone, tandoor cooked shrimp masala, topped off with their to die for butter naan and basmati rice. Topped off with a cup of masala chai. Our party of five, which started with 4 definitive Indian cuisine enthusiasts ended up with 5, with the promise to return again. Amazingly good food. Everything was excellent. My girlfriend and I got the mixed veg platter and mixed chicken platter to start . She had the chicken korma and I had the chicken madras. Both great. Korma very mild and Madras somewhat spicy but mostly flavourful. The garlic naan is beautiful and soft and very flavourful as well. This place is amazing. Not only is all the food great, but the whole thali thing.... That's just top notch. Most Indian restaurants I go to near where I live serve every dish individually. So I either need to order tons (which I can't eat all of and is expensive)... Or I order a couple dishes and don't get variety. Which is fine... But it's better as a thali! A thali (I think) is a small platter style of serving. For me it's the best way to enjoy Indian food because I can have so much variety, with just a small portion of everything. Pakora, Palak paneer, Chicken tikka, naan, some rice, dessert and more... All for like $12 or something. And it's all phenomenal. It's far from where I live, but I think I'll make excuses to go to that neck of the woods whenever possible just to eat here. read more

I've lived down the street from lageez for 7 years and never frequented because it's so nestled away in a nondescript strip mall in Scarborough. After taking out dinner the other day I'm convinced this is one of the best Indian restaurants in Toronto. Delicious food, decent portions and quick turnaround for a large order. This restaurant was a real find. The location seems a little sketchy but once inside the restaurant any feelings of unease immediately dissipates. Clean and bright inside with wonderful friendly service. The food was very reasonably priced and delicious. Absolutely love this hidden gem and happy its nearby. The lunch specials are incredible, filling and delicious, comes with naan and dessert so good. Not overly sweet balls but warm and perfect way to finish off the meal. Love the fish curry, always large thick chunks and melts in your mouth. Haven't been to this area before and arrived starving but only saw gas stations and McDonalds on the map, which gave me super low expectations of getting anything vegetarian, never mind delicious. Instead, thanks to Yelp, I just enjoyed a delightful homestyle lunch of saag paneer (spinach and cheese) with dahl (lentil stew), rice and hot buttered nan bread. Plus a galub jamun (syrup donut ball) to finish! This meal hit all the right buttons: scrumptious, filling and healthy - with fast, great service too. I'm happy enough here to also order a chai to wash down dessert and this ain't no sugary Starbucks imitation, the flavours are intense and brilliant from long and careful brewing. I was super excited when I saw a new Indian restaurant had opened where Hamish Fish and Chips used to be on Pharmacy, just north of St. Clair. My excitement only increased when my neighbours had a chance to try it before I did. He is a former professional chef and she was born and raised in India. They both raved about it, and said it was as good as any food they'd had in India. Although I've never been to India myself, I trust their opinion. I have eaten a lot of Indian food from a lot of different restaurants, and Lageez is definitely the best Indian food I've ever had. We ordered the mixed vegetable appetizers, butter chicken (of course), chicken Tikka masala, spinach and paneer, naan, and rice. Everything was incredible. We all sat at the table closing our eyes and moaning with every bite. English doesn't have a word for eating past the point of being full just because the food tastes good, but we need one. Because that's how I feel right now. As an Indian who has access to delicious homemade Indian food, my standards for Indian food at restaurants are extremely high. And let me tell you, Lageez met my expectations and then some. We ordered the tandoori grill plate, the tandoori shrimp, the butter chicken, and lamb korma. Everything was excellent. The shrimp in particular was noteworthy - they were huge, juicy, and extremely flavourful! The portion sizes are very generous, and the accompanying naan was fresh and HUGE. Even the regular ol rice was cumin scented and delicious! It's definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in the city and excellent value to boot. When we got to the restaurant to pick up our food total was $10 more than advertised. Worst of all the cashier admitted their online prices have been wrong for two years!!!!! un acceptable. I popped in here this week for lunch with a friend. We only had about 45 minutes, so we were going to do the takeout specials. Our server told us if we wanted to have a sit down meal, he'd get it out to us fast. And he did! I had the chicken thali and it was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and was very well seasoned. The portion size was big enough to take half home and make a second lunch out of it. The naan was a bit greasier than I am used to seeing, but hot damn it was good. Looking for good Indian food close to home and found this place on BlogTO's Best Indian Restaurants. Ordered take out Butter Chicken, vegetable biriyani, Dal Tadka, Onion Bhaji and the butter naan. The sauce for the butter chicken is delicious! It's velvety and rich and flavourful. The Dal Tadka was runnier than I was expecting but was well seasoned. The onion bhaji was crunchy on the outside and dense but soft on the inside. The naan was chewy and soft with a good tandoor oven toast on them. Portions were large enough to have left overs for another meal. The restaurant looked very clean and quite nicely decorated. Will have to eat in another day. Our first impression of Lageez is extremely favourable. I no longer have to drive across the city to have great Indian food. read more

Lageez Althenic Indian Cuisine is our friends go to restaurant when they want to go out for Indian food. They have tried many other restaurants but they like Lageez the best. Our friends found that their food is not as salty as other Indian restaurants. We ordered Veg. Samosa as appetizers, very tasty. Tandoori chicken, well seasoned and the chicken meat was still moist. Goan Fish curry, my favorite, just the right amount of spice. The curry sauce was quite generous that we added a extra order of butter naan bread to soak up the sauce. Palak Paneer which is Indian cottage cheese with pureed spinach, this dish goes along well with the naan and rice that came with our 2 main courses. We ended our meal with Gulab Jamun, deep fried dough similiar to a donut hole and soaked in a sweet syrup. Sharing a order was just enough to finish the meal. The restaurant is small so a reservation is recommended to avoid disappointment. I will definitely be back. read more

Didn't have much else, but we will go back. Takeout was fast and efficient but for some reason their on line prices are out of date (they warned me about this on the phone).
