Ordered a pair of glasses and after getting them adjusted 3 times within two weeks and was told they can no longer be adjusted, I was told the frame was too big. So they said they would order me the smaller frame and its on back order possibly 25 days. Ok as long as I can use what I have for now because I can't see. The Doctor said that would be fine. Well fast forward two months because of the closure..I get a call yesterday saying to come in and try on the smaller frame. So I go in at the right time, let them know I'm here for my appointment, took my temperature and then they asked for my info. So Shirley says Im there to try on new frames, I said no I'm here to try on the frames that were on back order that came in. She goes and gets them and has me sit down. I explain to her that I had--had these ones I have on adjusted 3 times and that they were too big is the reason why I am getting the smaller frame. I explained to her that I had been waiting for a while because of back order and also the shut down. That seem to have made her mad. She says there was nothing we could do, very irritated. I then said over the last two months I have actually been here twice to pick up my kids glasses that were done, one even on back order too. Still just making conversation. While doing this I have a big mask on my face, so I'm sure its muffled. Shirley then starts talking about ok I'll need to take your glasses, you cant have those. I explained to her I can not see at all, I was told by the Doctor I can use them for now, until the news ones came in and that I'd have no reason to keep them at all. She then looked up my insurance, then started tossing paper in the little box and along with tossing my supposed to be new frame in..not gentle at all and then raising her voice saying fine fine fine you can keep those and I will send these out. I said I'm not going to keep them Shirley, I literally can't see. I am disabled and have chronic health issues that have made issues with my eye sight. She then yells "Jesus Christ" as I was walking away. I asked for her manager. She said there was none there today. I asked her why a person in your position would act that way, why would you yell that? She says there are so many people in here complaining over the closure and you just kept going on and on about your kids coming in here. I said wow you didn't even listen to me. And I thought we were just talking. I picked up glasses, that is what I said for my kids, not with them. I was only making conversation and told Shirley it is absolutely unprofessional to act in that manner. She said I don't ask anyone who works with me. I said really because I said I needed these frames for now and you started throwing my new frames and papers and yelling. She said no I did not. I said you got a camera in here..watch yourself. She apologized said she didn't mean to act that way because other customers and her co workers are now starring. I told her she was the one who sold me the glasses in the first place. She said well then I should have know they were not the right size. I explained I am a consumer and by glasses for medical reasons and you are trained to know what a proper fitting is..and then said yeah your right. That behavior from Shirley is absolutely unacceptable. Just because she is obviously having issues with customer service and people being upset is in no way okay to take her frustrations out on me. After a nice call to VSP, I will be calling the manager tomorrow. read more

All three doctors are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely caring. The appointments book up quickly (about 3 weeks in advance), so if you know your schedule you should call in and book your appointment. The staff are very friendly and great! I know many families have been patients for 10+ years. Some are adults with children who have gone when they themselves were little. This place is the exact reason why I support local businesses. One time, I was unhappy with my glasses and they helped me until my problem was resolved. The entire time the entire staff was understanding and patient. I truly appreciated that. The walk in receptionist was nice and helpful. After an hour and a half of searching for contact lenses remover, I finally found them here! I was relieved to have my contacts removed and I thank this place for being the only one in Elk Grove that had them. If you need some eye contact lenses remover, you should come here. read more

I choose this place as my eye doctors after seeing all the positive reviews online. I've been going here now for 2 years and have had very thorough appointments, which is important to me as my eyesight is so poor. I order my contacts through them and they typically arrive within days. One time it took a couple weeks as we didn't find out till after ordering that they were on back order but Laguna Creek helped me out and gave me enough samples to last the time I had to wait. They take VSP or even the out of pocket cost isn't too bad ($95 for a complete eye exam). read more

Dr Chin was my favorite optometrist for years! He still is a great eye doctor but due to a large change in staff constantly I can never get the correct answer anymore. After two days, and talking to 4 different people, spending 2+ hrs on the phone and they kept giving me the run around. One person tells me they don't accept a certain insurance, the other does then after all of my wasted time the only knowledgeable person in the office tells me she cannot order my contacts because they need an updated contact prescription, which the previous person told me they can just use my glasses prescription, which was the same lady who said they don't accept my insurance which in fact they do! They can't book an appointment for another 5-6 months either! Good thing I called around the corner and got an appointment next week. Looking forward to a new establishment with employees who have insurance knowledge and much better customer service. read more

Dr. Eugene Shinfuku is very profrssional and great to deal with. However, the staff who were very nice and helped me since going there in 2003 had retired or moved on. The newer staff are either rude, incompetent, or have no clue with customer service. Their selection of eye glasses are also very expensive compared to other optometry store in the same area. read more

This used be a great optometrist office .. the doctors were very knowledgeable and friendly. Not sure if they have new staff in the front recently but the girls they answer the phone apparently don't know what they are talking about. I called once and asked if they accept a certain insurance company, the answer was yes. So then after I sign up for the insurance, I call back to be told no they don't take that insurance. I understand that all insurance policies have different networks and levels, etc but it would have been very helpful if the first person gave more detail instead of just a quick "yes" answer. Also, girl who answers the phone has no clue what she is doing and has another person in the background who is giving her answers but also sounds like she has no clue and is also super rude and unprofessional. On top of that , they have two other girls answering the other phone line and giggling. This place has gone down hill lately and on top of all the insurance confusion, it takes 3-4 months to get an appointment. Yeah, I'm good. read more

My parents are also his patients and when my dad passed away he sent a heart felt card. I've been coming here since moving to Sacramento in 2005. Dr. Bruce Chin provides thorough eye exam, he always explains everything in details and is an excellent doctor. Most importantly, Dr. Chin listens to your concerns and gives you feedback. He makes you feel like you are his best patient. This is the best optometrist in Elk Grove! They have the right selection of frames, great prices and phenomenal customer service. I highly recommend them and make sure you ask for Aisha! She rolled out the red carpet for me and my wife. Aisha was very patient, gave great advice and educated us on all of our options. The whole staff was great but Aisha went above and beyond the call of duty. My wife and I ended up getting four pairs of glasses (one pair of regular glasses and three pair of prescription sunglasses) for the same price we spent on two pair of glasses at another "popular" optometrist in Elk Grove last year. The doctors at Laguna Creek Optometry are really top notch professionals with great manner. The staff, however, is another story. I purchased a pair of premium Rayban New Wayfarer sunglasses with custom clear prescription lenses installed. The Rayban sunglasses frames are super heavy duty and seem like they would last for years, so I was not particularly surprise that the price was quite high. When the glasses arrived I took them home and noticed a smallish chip or crack in the frames, so I took them immediately back, literally within 15-20 minutes from when I picked them up. What really did surprise me was when the staff accused me of breaking the frames. I was told these frames did not have this damage when they left the store. I did not drop, scratch, damage, or otherwise treat these BRAND NEW glasses in a way that would cause damage. I had, after all, just taken delivery of something I was very proud of and intended to wear in public, why would I damage them? I could always have returned them. I cannot imagine choosing to cooperate with a business run with so little concern to the feelings of the customer. I ended up demanding a full return, which was supplied, so yay to that. Needed an Emergency appointment for my mom that was dealing with some type of reaction or infection on both eyes causing extreme pain, itch, and swelling.. thank God we came across this wonderful Optometrist Office and were treated by Amazing Dr. Yuji! The consult was super affordable compared to other Optometrist offices in the area and he was so helpful and full of information. This I the best place around to go to for glasses! I've gone here two years in a row since I found them. Rita helped me both time and was awesome. She quickly figured out what I wanted and searched in the online catalogues to find the best frames for me. She sent for several frames they didn't have on display. I came back to try them-with no obligation to buy. Other places I went didn't have very good selections and didn't seem very interested in helping me. It felt like they just wanted me to hurry up and buy any old thing. I took my husband to Laguna and it took him about 5 minutes to pick new frames. Dr. Bruce Chin is amazing. I went in for a yearly check up and ordered my contacts and glasses. Two weeks later I was having some eye issues with irritation. I was able to get in right away to get it checked out. He checked my eye and found out I don't produce tears so my eyes were drying out with contacts in. Ordered me new ones and solved the issue right away. Staff is very friendly. I refuse to go anywhere else. read more

I went there a few weeks ago to get my glasses. Unfortunately, one of my dogs chewed up my glasses and they replaced it under warranty. I was so happy that I was able to get my glasses without having to pay more money. The optometrists there are wonderful. They are friendly and really do care about you and your eyes. I've been going to Dr. Bruce Chin ever since I was in elementary school! He always wants to make sure you get the highest standard of care. If there are any issues, he is very willing to work with you to see what is best for your eyes and you. The office is also available on the weekends which is great because sometimes the weekdays I just can't make it in. I've always been happy with this place. The doctors are very professional and good at their jobs. What motivates me to write this review is my experience today. I broke my frames and had to come in and select new glasses. I hate picking out frames and I had my 2 grumpy kids with me, which made it kind of stressful. After I chewed the kids it a couple of times a very kind employee (I didn't catch her name) came out with markers and paper and had an impromptu art session with my kids, which calmed them down and allowed me to choose some frames and purchase them. Best Ever. From start to finish you are treated with care. Very friendly receptionist. I didn't catch her name but she gives a real - non phony Thank You and smile with every request or answer. All rooms are clean, comfortable and stylish. My wife and I went together for a first visit and had the privilege of getting Dr. Chin. What a professional. I actually see him as over qualified. Every question or issue we had (we're both 59 yrs old) was answered with simple explanations yet in depth when requested and necessary. He knows the interactions and complications that could arise from any drug or condition you might have. My wife has a very rare auto immune condition and he was knowledgeable of this and it's effects. Although it is clear they are busy (as to be expected when the care is this great) Dr. Chin and his assistant Rita took as much time as needed and even verbally tell you to take your time as you go through your exam. THEY WANT TO HELP YOU. How refreshing to find good old respect and professionalism when so often we are herded like cattle due to heavy patient booking.
