Booked this for my daughters 5th birthday party. I hadn't been skating here in 20 years. Honestly…read morein 20 years not much has changed. The skates looked like the original skates I wore in the 90s but they still function. I guess things were made better back then. The music was loud, too loud really, and it was crowded. But Santa was there. And the kids enjoyed the play area and it was pretty clean. The bathrooms could have been cleaner. The staff was helpful and attentive. The prices weren't terrible. Brought back memories. If the music hasn't been so loud I couldn't speak over it I would have given 5 stars.

Cons: We went just for Laser Tag, and I've never seen such a poorly run operation. We were told to go to the arcade area (very small) and ask for it there. The guy signed us up, then didn't utter a word and skated off to the rink to have fun. We waited for almost 2 hours before they called the laser tag groups. Session lasted for a few minutes, and half of that was spent changing broken equipment. We tried doing another session, but were told it would be a while, and the guy skated off again. My son left in tears after that, and we'll never be back. Not that it's really the fault of the business, but there were kids throwing bouncy balls on the skating rink and chasing after them without skates on, and they were allowed to continue. Very dangerous, I wouldn't want to skate there.

As such, the park access is not ideal, and the greenway trail running by the river is interrupted and requires a detour. The main section of park that is open has notable merits, including a fitness loop, a smaller pedestrian bridge, and athletic fields. I hope that eventually construction on both the bridge and park will finish and give way to a better facility, but it is a pleasant area.

Roanoke River Greenway, in turn, is one of almost a dozen Roanoke Valley Greenways, and extends over many miles of paved trails. The park has several entry points along Wiley Drive SW with plenty of parking spaces to accommodate the locals and visitors here to enjoy what the park has to offer: the skate park is a clever use of bridge bases (pictured); the baseball and basketball courts seem popular and are often nicely crowded; several picnic areas have tables, bench seats, water fountains, and more; and the children's playgrounds are usually filled with little ones. The trails are paved all the way through, and the Roanoke River is never more than 20 metres away. Enjoy!

Every time I walk into the store I leave feeling refreshed. They have an amazing wide selection of singles and sealed product from various TCG's that I think almost anyone could find a card or item they like. The owner, Evan, is very kind and personable and it's clear he wants to encourage a positive gaming community in Lynchburg. He's also a great businessman, which is essential because when a business does good, I really want them to flourish and stick around. All the employees here are likewise kind, funny, and helpful- I've never felt ignored or treated poorly at all. The space has restrooms, cheap sodas and Gatorade, gorgeous dice sets, card packs, TTRPG books, and more. I've now played a few Lorcana casual league and tournament events here, and Dragon Fire Games has definitely succeeded in fostering a safe and inclusive space for gamers (especially us older-aged gamers and newbies). I wish I was able to hang out here more often (and that the games didn't go so very late, for me), but I'm very grateful to have found this place and for Evan's continued management of the space. Definitely come check it out!
