I was treated like a dog, and lesser than the staff- especially by the security guard Lucas (Fabio). They did not even allow me to call my federal agent I spent 5 days being lied to and neglected without sunlight. Mentioned security guard was anything but trauma informed and should not be working in that unit let alone that hospital. I came in for safety and left more suicidal that I came in with. People started calling missing persons reports on me until the Deputy of Beverly PD & Beth Israel's PD came to make sure I was still alive as they wouldn't let me call my agents. How I was treated was inhumane and I left with a boxer fracture. Even the representative from Beth Israel told me "if you ever need to go to the hospital go to Salem". *mic drop*

There were no ED rooms or even hall beds, so my mom got her vitals taken, an IV put in to draw blood, and then sent back to the waiting room for the duration. Same deal with all the other patients. The big TV was on the Discovery Channel equivalent of COPS the entire time so the room was stuck with a 50 inch TV with a bunch of aggressive cops and prison guards yelling at people and chasing down and tackling people on body cam footage - not exactly soothing or good for a room of people who essentially couldn't leave. The ED tech did her absolute best to manage expectations, but we never saw a doctor. We saw a PA 2am who basically agreed that the instructions we got from the on-call neurologist six hours earlier were .... fine. If we wanted to wait and get a CT scan, it would be easily another 4 hours. So we gave up and went home, untreated. Their Press Gainey score in the email request for review the hospital sent was conveniently worded so that there was no way to say "wanted to be seen by a doctor and never saw one."

I signed up with Gold Direct Care after I heard about what Dr Gold was doing. I was drawn towards the idea of having a doctor who will spend as much time addressing my concerns as necessary. I have been pretty disappointed with 10 minute consultations with previous doctors who don't have time to listen and never really get down to the root of the problem. I got the feeling that they have to make a very quick decision and hope for the best. Try this, take that, come see me again in 6 months. I realized that I have to take my health seriously. Good health is one of the most precious things we have. I made a clear and conscious decision that I do not want to be part of the herd anymore. I wanted a doctor who I have access to. I wanted a doctor who truly cares and who knows me, and I wanted a doctor who had the time to do his job properly with my best interests at heart. I have been with Dr Gold since he started his Direct Primary Care practice, and I am completely satisfied. My first consultation was over an hour. I send him emails which he responds to right away. I have his cell number and I have 24 hour access if I should need it. (Not that I think I will, but it is a comforting thought.) I had a chronic health issue for quite some time, and nobody has been able to get it under control. With Dr Gold's care he had it taken care of within the first month. We spoke often and tried different prescriptions. He consulted with other specialists and before long had the whole situation under control and everything back to normal. I did not get kicked around from one specialist to another, from one test to the next. In the end it was his direct pragmatic approach that solved a complicated situation without having to send me in for a complete "refit". It is also a pleasure to work with him. He has a great sense of humor and a nice personality. It feels like you are talking to an old friend, which takes the anxiety out of visiting the doctor. If anyone is on the fence on whether this is a good fit for them, take it from me, you will definitely not be disappointed. If you take your health seriously, this is a smart investment. Investing in your health is investing in yourself and your future. Dr Gold practices modern medicine with a traditional approach. Everybody wins! I can't recommend it highly enough.

I would have given a five star review until Dr. Mancini terminated me (a 69 year old woman with…read moreunderlying conditions) as a patient during the pandemic without even the courtesy of a phone call. I was a long time patient of Dr. Mancini. It is a concierge practice and I paid for the care of a doctor. When she went on maternity leave I wished all the best for her. I was not happy to find that she hired a nurse practitioner to cover for her rather than a doctor. I had excruciating pain on my left side near my rib. I did get an in person appointment and she said I had a bruised rib. She said I could get an x-ray. She called to say the x-ray showed an enlarged spleen. I was concerned and saw the nurse practitioner who sent me to the emergency room "in case my spleen exploded or something." Luckily I went to the emergency room where I was diagnosed with Costochondritis - a muscle problem that causes extreme pain. This should have been obvious since I have chronic muscle pain. My chiropractor in NYC, bless him, knew exactly what it was and how I got it and has made the pain lessen considerable. I went back because the nurse practitioner wanted more blood tests. She called to tell me that something was high. I asked if I could call to discuss the blood tests. She said no. I decided to get a complete exam in NYC (I live in NYC and in MA). Turns out is normal for the spleen to enlarge slightly when the body is under stress as it is sending out more white cells. My bone density is good and all my pain is muscular. My heart is good. I have lost 40 lbs and gotten my sugar down from 11 to 7.5. Still have to get it to 6 - but you would think these would be things a medical practitioner would know and want to share with me. When I asked when Dr. Mancini was returning I was told August 17th. I got this e-mail from her. "Jan, It has been brought to my attention that you have been unsatisfied with the care you have received since my going on maternity leave and were upset by my taking maternity leave in general. I was also made aware that you were verbally abusive, using profanity, towards our office manager. For these reasons I feel it best you find an alternative primary care physician. I am sorry it has come to this, but I feel the doctor-patient relationship has been irreparably damaged. The date of termination is August 1, 2020. - Dr. Mancini No phone call. No response to my e-mail replies. I was unsatisfied with the care I was given because I was misdiagnosed and not given appropriate information. I never was upset by Dr. Mancini taking maternity leave - I wished her all the best. All women need maternity leave. I did use profanity. Walking - in excruciating pain - to the office - I was made to stand outside in the pouring rain when they knew I was there for over 10 minutes. When I came in I said, "No patient deserves to be treated like s**t. I am a human being." I have a Masters in Counseling degree and if a patient of mine who had always been friendly and responsible reacted that way I would view it clinically as a sign of extreme stress (which it was) and would have checked in to see if they were okay. I have been in other medical places during COVID-19 and strict protocols never involve patients being locked out in the rain. I would have lived with all of this because of COVID-19 but the fact that a doctor would terminate a 69 year old patient with medical problems during a pandemic without even the courtesy of a phone call is inexcusable. When I found Elitra Health in NYC I actually cried during my exam because it felt so good to finally have an intelligent, competent team of people caring for my health. Dr. Mancini also prescribed inappropriate medication but that is another story.

I began seeing the top ENT doctor in Beverly Hills and we started with a surgery to fix my deviated septum and clear out any infections. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem and I continued to have sinus issues. Around 2014 my sinus infections were weekly and I was so ill and in pain. Due to the heavy traffic it would take me 1.5 hours or longer to get to his office I began going to an Urgent Care nearby and was taking 5 prescribed Clarinex's a day, ( allergy pills.) I was put on Qnasl a corticosteroid. Yet as each week continued I found myself weekly at urgent care being put on steroids, antibiotic etc.. it was painful and sheer frustration. My ENT Plastic Surgeon at this time stated after seeing my CAT scan I needed surgery to unblock the bone growth covering each side of the 4 holes on each side of the nose. ( I went out for three other opinions all were of varying answers and directions. We finally decided to leave LA and return to the North Shore after having a surgery in June of 2016. It was then I began seeing Dr Mugge. It was an interesting visit as Dr Mugge was the first doctor that actually took cultures of my nose. It was interesting as I had just had surgery and tested positive for Pseudomonas an antibiotic resistant sinus infection. I was frightened and scared but relieved that someone was thorough and took the time to swab and test. Dr Mugge instead of throwing antibiotics and steroids at me wanted to get at the route of the problem. This was a real wake up call as to what a great doctor he was as he took the time to figure out what was truly going on and not just treat the symptoms. Dr Mugge placed me on a nose spray from the Beverly Compounding pharmacy. We did this for a few months and the Pseudomonas did not go away. It was at this time he felt surgery following a CAT scan was the best form of treatment. Dr Mugge felt that the sinus spray was being blocked, thus endoscopic surgery was the needed. The surgery I was afraid of as my previous surgeries were so painful. I am pain sensitive and he listened to me and really cared. Following the surgery I still tested positive which was a surprise as my nose was no longer inflamed and red. I again took the nasal spray with ongoing cultures. However, finally my results came back negative!!!! I cannot express what a relief this was as I had been suffering for years and had to move across the country. Without Dr Mugge taking the time to test the cultures I have no idea how long and how many years I would have continued to suffer. Additionally suffered with too many antibiotics given to me and steroids which would all have been useless. I am so grateful to Dr Mugge and his team who cared for me when I was ill and truly listened after hours or when a much needed appointment was given to me the week I phoned. ( I recall one time I knew I had a sinus infection in addition to the Pseudomonas and this was the first and only time I stated I need pain medication as my entire face hurt and I had such a horrible headache I was just lying in bed in the dark unable to move. They listened and trusted after hours my symptoms and helped with the pain and antibiotics.) Literally you cannot get better after hours care and again the ability to get in to see the doctors when truly in need. Dr Mugge's nurses line is available and you leave a message and they reply promptly. All of the nurses and Karen are awesome! I found his staff to be caring and friendly and his offices clean and sterile. If you want to truly get rid of sinus infections and are exhausted with antibiotics thrown your way go see Dr Mugge. The first appointment was the hardest for me to get but following that appointment you are a patient and very important to Dr Mugge and his staff. Presently I am now dealing with pollen I have allergic rhinitis and I think after having this antibiotic resistant sinus infection I may be more sensitive to pollen. Please note Dr Mugge knew of my pollen issues and started me on Clarinex 2 times a day and Qnasl. The Qnasl takes a few weeks to work and build up in your system so it was a relief to know that Dr Mugge also took the time to do preventative allergy season work on me. I cannot thank Dr Mugge or his staff enough. Thank you ‼
