A truly authentic experience-- we could tell by how many South Asian families were there! The butter chicken sauce was so thick that we took our leftovers home and marinated chicken wings in it; this was perfection. Also, it was nice to see an accessible washroom-- a rarity in Toronto! Typically I use yelp reviews to help me decide where to eat but this place is a rare exemption, disregard the low average rating. Lahore tikka house is Incredible, my family has gone here for years and of course through multiple owners, ever since the son took over it's been better than ever. It's places like this which make me wish yelp didn't factor old reviews. After the death of the original owner, I believe his wife took over the food began to go downhill in both taste and quality, though I can't blame her as it must've been quite rough to handle. I believe it was when the building burned down when the current owner began to run things. The new building is in my opinion better than the previous, great exterior and the interior is well designed while keeping the general vibe of the restaurant. The food is incredible, large servings for a good price and even if you don't like lamb I'd encourage you to get the lamb chops, lamb biryani, and lamb Karahi anyway. One of the OG Pakistani food spots in Gerrard street area. They have recently renovated the place and we went in on a weekend for dinner. Service was good, we ordered chicken kebab, tandoori chicken, chicken karahi and dal along with garlic naans. Their naans are pretty big in size so we were full by just eating 1 naan. I wasn't a fan of their kebab or tandoori tbh but the chicken karahi stole the show. This was one of the best chicken karahi I've had in any Pakistani restaurant. I've been going to Lahore Tikka House since it opened. I've brought dozens of people here and every time my family gets together in Toronto we go to "Tikka." There was a stretch of time after the founder passed where they seemed to be struggling with running the restaurant and some of the changes didn't really make sense to me. Then during covid it felt like the quality really went down and sometimes they wouldn't have lamb or beef curries on the menu. I imagine this was due to supply issues. Then they closed for about a year because of a fire. Around this time we started to go to other Pakistani restaurants and when Tikka opened back up we didn't feel inspired to go back. Six or so months ago we decided to go to Tikka and our new spot back to back to see which was better. We didn't expect much from Tikka but felt nostalgic about the place and wanted to give it another try. We were kind of shocked by how good it was. It was like the old Tikka but even better. We ended up going twice that week and have been back and have been back several times since. The service is great and the food is of the highest quality and really abundant. It definitely feels like they lost a lot of there customers during all of the changes and closure but I'd encourage anyone who used to love Tikka to give them another try. My only suggestion is that they consider adding the beef karahi back to the menu. read more

I just ordered one of of chicken kebabs which was the highest rated offering on the Uber eats page and it was very salty and no longer has the same complexity in terms of spices being used used as I remember. I could believe how long it took to make an ice coffee drink (15 minutes ) as watched him and two trying to figure out how to make it .When I asked our server about this she didn't speak English . I asked again and all i got was a blank stare with alot of entitlement. She didn't come back to our table again . At the end of our meal it took forever to get the bill and take out containers . The samosas were greasy and cold in the middle and needed some sauce. The food here is very flavourful, and got a kick of spice. Not featured on the photos, we also got a small veggie plate, which was super delicious. The only reason I bumped a start down was due to our waiter. He dropped waters spilling all over the table. We also ordered ribs and got lamb instead, which was fine. About 10 years ago, my family dined at Lahore Tikka on our Toronto trip. The kebabs were to die for and we had to visit again on our trip this time, but all we were served was disappointment. The service was extremely bad - the waiters were rude, it took them forever to serve us water and refill, and it was pretty slow for a fairly empty restaurant. As for the food, I recall really liking their kebabs but they didn't live up to the quality I remember. We ordered the Mixed Tikka plate and the chicken wasn't even fully cooked... they refused to believe us after we told them and it took them a while to finally consider giving us a new platter. We also ordered the Butter Chicken and Paneer Tikka Masala, and the sauce for both were very lemony and tart which is unusual for both of these dishes. It has been a while since we last visited so maybe management has changed because the quality of this restaurant is no longer the same. We tried their Gol Gappe (pic 1) which is a snack that is a fried puff that you fill with a mixture of potatoes and chickpeas and spices. These are super tasty and the kids had fun eating the puff balls. The mains were the Chicken Biryani which we've had several times before. It was actually one of the better versions we had, packed with chicken. The other was their Karahi Lamb (Curry) and doesn't look appealing but it was the sleeper hit. Knowing that Pakistan is sandwiched between Iran, Afghanistan, and India tends to make all of the food pieces fall into place. And the best place to try it in Toronto? Lahore Tikka House in the Little India part of Leslieville is the undisputed choice. You Gotta Eat Here! featured them in their fourth season and blogTO has listed them as the #1 Best Pakistani Restaurant in the city. I visited on a Sunday evening and certainly the first thing that caught my attention is how massive their property is. The two storey building is huge, plus they have their own parking lot and an entire tented patio area. You cannot miss it. I love all of the motorized rickshaws that they have parked out front which really adds to the authentic and fun vibe of the place. It was a hot summer's day and we were seated on the patio. As such, I didn't see much of the inside of the restaurant but from what I understand, they have dining areas on both levels. The colours on the walls are jewel-toned and there are several beautiful murals decorating the space as well. The patio outside is draped in lovely sari-like materials. The restaurant feels nothing short of palatial. The menu is quite extensive and our friendly server was happy to help answer our questions. I was excited to try the special Kashmiri Chai that they make but was unfortunately informed that they didn't have any. Nor their plain chai. This was disappointing because a beautiful chai done properly is one of my favourite drinks. One of the first things that happened is a sword was brought around with flame-blistered green peppers skewered onto it. I wrongly assumed that these would be similar to shishitos... Instead these peppers were very, very spicy. I managed a few bites and couldn't continue! However, I loved this special touch. There is a cute part of the menu that serves up Lahori Street Food and I really liked the idea of this! Unfortunately, we had so many other dishes to order that we couldn't get anything from this section but I would love to on a future visit. Two sauces were delivered to our table; one hot sauce that tasted like it was based in tamarind and a cool yogurt sauce that was seasoned with warm spices. These were both delicious and perfect accompaniments to every other dish of the evening. First to arrive was our Butter Chicken (Boneless, red creamy sauce - $16.99) from the Karahi / Curries part of the menu. A karahi incorporates onions, garlic, ginger, chillies, tomatoes and garam masala spices. I was hesitant to order this because it seemed like such a "safe" and "typical" choice. But on the other hand, butter chicken is delicious so... Here we are. This dish arrived firey hot and spitting molten lava. The pieces of chicken were large and tender, truly bathed in sauce. The curry sauce was quite thick, which I liked, and it had a certain tang to it that I found to be enjoyable and unique. Probably not the best butter chicken that I've ever had but still a very good version. Of course we also visited the Tandoori Naans section of the menu because it would be wrong not to! This flat leavened flour bread is baked in a tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven. I could see the cook making it exactly this way through the window. Plain Naan ($2.89 each) seemed like the right choice because I didn't want any other flavours crowding out the other dishes. Although they do offer seven different types. At first we tried to order three of these but our server smartly advised that only two would be plenty. She was right! We could barely finish two because they were so large. Naan is used as a utensil and the diner rips pieces of bread off and uses it to pick up and eat the food on their plate. This version was very simple and uniform - maybe even a bit too perfect. I tend to prefer a less refined shape and a bit more chew to my naan but at the end of the day you can't go wrong with bread. Next up: Seekh Kababs, the restaurant's specialty. Known for its spice, we chose one Beef and one Chicken (Minced meat infused with coriander, ginger & garlic. Grilled on a traditional clay oven and served on a sizzling platter - $4.29 each). These certainly did arrive to our table sizzling profusely! I could tell that the meat had been formed onto a skewer, expertly crafted, and then cooked. Each kabab was extremely flavourful and bursting with delicious spice. Both types of meat were very good and I liked that we tried both for a bit of variety. This place may have served good food in the past; but has slowly detoriated in food quality and service over the years. We recently decided to go to Lahori Tikka House to eat and wow, we were shocked on how much worse it's gotten this year. We ordered ribs, lamb chops, kebab and daal. Upon ordering the chops and ribs, we requested that the kitchen make sure they can send everything out at once so our naan and daal don't get cold. The wait staff flatly refused and said that when the food is ready, it will come out. Our daal and naan actually came out 15 minutes early and it was terrible! We had to wait 15 minutes and everything was cold by the time the barbecue arrived. The lamb chops (which used to taste amazing) were also heavily disappointing - they changed up the spices they use for these chops and they didn't taste as good. The ribs were just straight burnt, no one even finished them because they were that bad. The kebab was good. The service and wait staff were actually just TERRIBLE and downright disrespectful. I was shocked. Our "server" was Mittal and I've dined at spots before with questionable service, but this waiter would actually IGNORE us and pretend she couldn't hear us while she walked by. The first two times she did it, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. By the third time, I was shocked. We wanted to order sodas, and I called her and she straight ignored me! I actually walked up to the front for every request after that (napkins, to go boxes, etc). I was so turned off. As someone whose worked in the food service and hospitality industry, I can confidently say this woman needs to take a lesson on waitressing and also basic human decency and respect. An absolute gem of an eating joint. I've dined as well as taken the trouble to drive all the way from Vaughan to pickup as well. Everytime I taste the food (Butter Chicken with Butter Naans, Chicken & Lamb Britain) I am left with a feeling of wanting more. For desserts we enjoyed the Kulfi Falooda, which were in my sister's words "exquisite". About the interiors, well there's nothing fancy. If you're coming here then make sure you're just here for the food and not the ambience, which isn't so bad but will do. The restaurant is located on Gerrard St what appears to be old Toronto now. It has very limited car parking infront of the restaurant. And judging by the popularity of this restaurant, be prepared to park your car in the nearby streets. Came back to update my review after many years of this place being my top favourite Pakistani joint I went back there last night and sad to say I had to drop it down a star. Food was delish as ever so lets start there. However, the cutlery was disgusting. I mean really disgusting and got me wondering about their hygiene in the kitchen. Staff is always fast moving and hard working as ever so no complaints there. Part 2 of the complaint is wow have the prices ever skyrocketed. While I understand this place is usually slammed at the seams with long waits, I don't know if I can justify the price for substandard cleanliness and hygiene. Not to mention all the little pieces of bones in the dish def was a bit dangerous biting into it suddenly. I don't remember it being this annoying to eat one of their yummy dishes in the past. The wooden servers they now rest the dirty hot cast iron dish on takes up WAY too much room on the table. Ordered their beef/chicken/lamb kebabs. $4.29x2, $4.89x1. Pani Puri, $10. Garlic naan, $3.49 Take-out. Everything was packed perfectly in separate containers, with sauces. The kebabs had 1/3 inch gaping holes (skewer removed) in the middle. The taste were just ok. We waited for 20 minutes yet the kebabs were not piping hot when given. The meats (chicken/beef/lamb) were all minced not in whole cuts. The spices were more apparent than the taste of meats. The Pani Puri was refreshing with the yogurt added; the shells were not warm either. The naan was ok. Customer service, I would imagine, would have been good since it was not a full house when we were there. Been going here for 15+ years and the place has maintained its name. The food is heavy and oily, so I would suggest ordering and limiting portions with that in mind. We've been to many Indian restaurants that try to modernize to western fine dining culture and sometimes quality and customer service is compromised. This place stays true to its roots, from the moment you enter you feel like you're in an authentic Indian/Paki restaurant that stays true to its culture and origins. Has a big seating area outside as well. Food was really good, ordered for a family of four and had more than enough left over as portions are good. Food all came out hot and stemming. Not one complaint on food, except maybe we prefer food more spicier and did not order it spicier in the beginning. Amazing aspect of the restaurant someone comes around to each table to offer fresh hot green chiles off the grill! People who have been locals may say that before the food used to be better, I can't test to that as I am not a local but the food was good compared to other local restaurants on the same street. I was fully prepared for a crappy under construction/renovation place before my arrival from reading the reviewers and from my fellow dining mates. We've been here twice now. One time on a super busy night and the place was packed and smoky and dizzying (in a good way). And now on a quieter night when we were there early and watched the place fill up - still fun. Gotta say that the kebabs are great. And we had the lamb chop and they were amazing. It is probably better if you go with a few people and sit some curries as side dishes. It all looks and smells great. It is immersive - since you will smell like grilled kebabs after a visit. What a good place to get back to after so many year. The kebabs were just as good after so long. Just the lines were much longer!! Wait not so much. Which frankly I'm not going to complain. A restaurant that does well will have a longer wait. Nothing to complain. Me and my wife "may" have ordered enough food to feed a family of 4 and 2 out of town relatives. Most of it excellent, only gripe some of chicken pieces were just a tad over done. Also the pink beverage you see in the images a traditional tea from North India (Kashmir), it was quite nice. read more

This was my friend's favourite place to come over the years and she seemed very excited to introduce me to some good Indian food. You first order your food and are given a number. You seat yourself and wait for the food. Ours took 20-30 mins. The table seating is simple. My friend ordered the butter chicken which she loves and we shared the king fish which I found very tasty along with the Bhartha (eggplant) which I ended up not finishing and taking it home. I would definitely return here again as I love king fish. read more
