We rented kayaks from Laine's Bait Shop today to paddle in Alviso Slough (Alviso Marina County Park.) If you like to support local businesses, with lots of history, colorful characters (owner has the coolest fish sandals and great taste in music!) and friendly, helpful service, look no further than Laine's! You can call ahead for kayak reservations or try your luck but just stopping by. Either way, they will transport the kayaks to the Marina and get you on your way in minutes. We had a beautiful day on the water at this overlooked local treasure, and Laine's is great business to work with. Highly recommend!

Really genuine folks running this bait shop. Highly recommend stopping by for Baits And Tackle! & Great Prices!

Bought fresh bait from them cause I hear they always stock grass shrimp. And by the way they are huge grass shrimps! Place is family owned and their house is attached to the business, so make sure to call if the door is closed. They also have info on local sturgeon that is caught in the sloughs on the same day and I believe host events or competitions to see who catches the biggest one! Hooked on this 10lb striper with the bait they supplied!

Had a blast renting kayaks. We paddled through the boat launch ramp available in Alviso that provides a route through the salt marshes of Alviso slough out to the open waters of the San Francisco Bay. The current was a little strong so we didn't make it out that far but the boat launch ramp provides access for both motorized and non-motorized boats and for kayaks. Laines Baites is a small mom and pop business, the price is really cheap and the owners were really friendly and knowledgeable about the area as they regularly go out kayaking/fishing/etc In the marshes. I definitely will return to this location to go kayaking!

My brother and I came in to the city for the weekend and found Laine's Baits to be the most convenient and enjoyable times! It was easy to find, pay, the service was great, and the water was great and the boats were easy to use!:) If you are looking for something active to do in the bay go there! They also have other things to do there as well!:) The owners are wonderful and knowledgeable and easy to talk to:) Go check them out! Thank you Kirsten and Kyle!

Ever since I bought and maintained a CA fishing license a few years ago, I go to BPS to for most…read more of my fishing needs. With rows and rows of tackle, I am able to find most lake specific lures, weights, bait, hooks, etc. Sometimes I have to go to the store at the lake itself and get even more specific items, but BPS usually has what I need. Whenever I enter the store, the personnel always ask if I need help or direct me to the area where more specific help can be found. Moreover, the store is dog friendly and has dog treats at the ready. Occasionally, BPS will host a Monday club night whereby if you are a BPS club member, you can stand in line to get a light meal and enter a raffle to win items, but I recommend you go early and stand in line or else there will be no more food left.

I used to enjoy shopping at Bass Pro Shops, but my experience with the Bluegreen Vacations…read morerepresentatives inside the store has completely changed my opinion. They approached me and pressured me into listening to their sales pitch, and it felt like "no" was never an acceptable answer. The entire interaction was uncomfortable and extremely pushy. After signing up, I did more research and realized it wasn't a good investment for me, so I canceled months ago. Unfortunately, the unwanted contact hasn't stopped. I continue to receive spam calls, and when I tell them I'm not interested, they often end the call abruptly only to call again a few days later. It's become incredibly frustrating. Bass Pro Shops should reconsider allowing this kind of aggressive sales tactic inside their stores. Customers come to shop, not to feel pressured into vacation ownership presentations or deal with persistent calls long after they've declined. Because of this experience, I no longer plan to shop at Bass Pro Shops. It's disappointing that one partnership has negatively affected what used to be an enjoyable place to visit.

Posting this as a cautionary tale for anyone buying shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods - Sunnyvale…read more This would have been a one star rating if not for Xavier in Footwear. Excellent service and attitude. I bought a pair of On Cloud shoes and within 5 days realized they were too big. The issue only showed up in real-world use: when walking downhill my foot slid forward into the toe box. That's not something you reliably catch by taking a few steps indoors. I went back to do a simple exchange (not a refund). The shoes were clean and in excellent condition. The only visible difference was very slight yellowing on the outsole contact pads -- noticeable under their bright store lighting but not dirty, or damaged. At first I was told the exchange would be fine. After further inspection, they reversed course and said the shoes were not "resaleable" due to wear. I spoke with multiple people (each initially identifying themselves as "the manager" before clarifying their role), and after a lot of back and forth the best options offered were: * 15% off a replacement pair, or * $60 store credit as a "no receipt return" value (they said this reflects the lowest recent selling price and excludes clearance). I ultimately took the $60 credit because my time is worth something and I needed the correct size. But the key takeaway is this: If you buy shoes here, assume you cannot test them outdoors -- even briefly -- without risking being denied an exchange. The 90-day return policy sounds generous, but in practice footwear appears to need to look completely unworn to qualify. I'm sharing this so others don't make the same assumption I did.

They do cash trade-ins day-of-sale unlike most gun shops in the area that only do consignment. They take the time to properly appraise what you bring in, make sure it's legal for sale in California and make sure all the required paperwork is filled out properly. Their prices are generally fair market value from what I've seen considering it's a cash-day-of trade-in. You'll be waiting for maybe an hour at most here to get paid for selling your stuff instead of the weeks that you would with a consignment sale or what passes for a private-party transaction in CA. Could you potentially get more selling privately or putting your stuff on consignment and waiting for it to move instead? Maybe, but their way of doing things avoids a lot of the multiple trips and waiting time that comes with doing either of those other two options instead in California. I would definitely recommend coming here if you have guns you need to sell urgently or if you would just rather not deal with selling on consignment or arranging a private-party sale yourself.
