I have zero fishing experience and wanted to go crab snaring, and the person who helped me out (didn't get his name) was very patient and answered all my questions, got me set up with the right equipment (and even helped tie all the bits to the rod so I'm ready to start crabbing right away) and taught me to tie the hook/rig if I wanted to switch to fishing. The customer experience is definitely worth visiting this shop, and I got lots of equipment that were deal worthy. Highly recommend to anyone! We were recommended this shop by another fishing group at Calero Lake. This place is amazing and the service is top notch. We went in to see if we could get our kids line replaced on his kiddy fishing pole. The worker said it needs to be done by hand and I was hesitant to do it at home as I am not too knowledgeable on reels and fishing. The work (not sure his name but he has a beard) asked if we had the rod on us. We did and he took care of the entire process himself. He was amazing and I am so thankful. Alright, here we are a couple years later. I still drive to the shop exclusively. The staff still kicks ass. I've made a ton of friends through this awesome place. Denise the owner, has an eye for hiring charismatic staff who will jump at the chance to help out and put you on fish. The selection is still better than everywhere in the area. Always up to date with the new fad baits that we are always dying to see. If they don't have it, they can probably order it. I've warrantied multiple rods through the shop with no headache, which in my opinion is much easier than having to contact an online retailer and ship a broken rod back. This is a pretty decent fishing store, but it's location makes it somewhat limiting. It is located on Monterey Highway between South San Jose and Morgan Hill. The gear they carry is primarily for trout and bass, which is what the surrounding lakes contain. I would not go out of my way to shop at this store, as there are others closer stores carrying the same selection. The only time I make it down there is during their Spring Sale when they have some exceptional buys. I found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable. read more

The guys at CBT are amazing! Recently shopped here during their Black Friday sale and I must say, their deals are almost unbeatable! Unfortunately they did not have every item that I wanted in stock but with the help of their staff, Andrew and the other young guy (can't remember his name) they were able to throw a few alternative suggestions that I was very pleased with. They were even willing to check and double check their back rooms for inventory so I wouldn't be disappointed with walking away empty handed. The guys here aren't like some of the other places I've shopped at before. They're really informative and upfront with the gear and tackle they sell. If a product doesn't live up to its price tag, I was told straight up by one of the employee that there's a better product for a similar if not cheaper price. I love that they don't try to up sale you, instead they offer the best options for your budget. I wanted something that would possibly cover trout as well as shad so Andrew suggested I picked up a Phenix Elixir paired with a Daiwa Fuego 2500 which Andrew recommended to fit my budget better (I really wanted a Ballistic but I knew I had to save my funds for other sales as well). I had recently took it for some ultra light perch fishing in the surf and used it in the delta pulling in up to 17in shaker stripers and was totally blown away by how well the combo performed, can't wait to hit up the trout now!
