The only problem was that I didn't want to go near the city itself since I avoid them if I can on my camping road trips. I ended up finding this little gem of a FREE camping spot! Pretty awesome indeed. Who doesn't love free...and good free at that! LOL The grounds have 7 total spots that are technically for RVs, but appear to be fine for tent use. I'm sure that if all 7 spots are taken you can still find a spot around them that might not get you in trouble, especially if you arrive late, leave early and leave it better than you found it. ;-). All 7 spots have 50 & 30 amp electric plugs as well as 2 110v for household appliances. All spots also have water. There is a FREE dump station. NO BATHROOMS, so be very aware you might need to run 5 min into town for such needs! A couple of large concrete picnic tables are available towards the entrance area. All in all, a great little free camping spot for those passing through with a tent or for those with an RV needing a few days of free stoppage. Enjoy and treat properly! :)

My husband and I live in Austin now but we still keep our membership and pay dues just so that we can come back and enjoy this beautiful paradise. Roaring Springs is truly a magical place that helped shape me into the adventurous, outgoing, and independent woman that I am today. Kids are able to be kids and are able to run free and explore all of the wonderful things Roaring Springs has to offer. You feel so safe and comfortable when you are here because all of the members know each other and are looking out for everyone else and their families. Jan and Gary are extraordinary people that work themselves to the bone to keep this place in top shape while being so kind and going out of their way for every person that walks in the door. The pool is a tropical paradise and provides endless hours of COLD fun for all ages. My husband and I don't even have children yet but love to go out there with friends to BBQ and have a few drinks by the pool. I am not much of a golfer but the greens are beautiful and they put sook much work into them. There is so much land to explore either by foot, bike, car, or my personal favorite, golf cart! This is where I learned to ride a bike, swim, dive off a diving board, and even drive. I have an endless number of wonderful memories about this place and I only hope to make many many more. If you are thinking of getting a membership here, don't think twice and just do it. There just aren't enough places like this left in the world.

Loved this RV Park! Very clean sites. Shade trees on most…read moresites. They have pull-thru or back-in available. The rec room has books, movies, and games. Showers are updated and one of the best I've seen in a long time. Laundry is available ($1.75-wash 75¢-dry). The pool is clean and perfect for a swim after a long day. Most sites don't have grills, but there are a few that do. They have grills you can use that are behind the main office and next to the pool. Airport is across the highway, but you cannot hear airplanes or highway noise inside your camper. Several long term campers, but they are super nice and always offer a smile and wave from their clean and well-kept sites. Karen, in the office, is super sweet and welcomed us as if we'd been there a million times. I would highly recommend and have placed it on my list of RV parks to use should I come back through Lubbock.

The grassy areas at , and near our site (119) were covered in sticker burrs. We weren't aware, so when we arrived and took our dogs out, their paws were immediately covered in painful burrs, as were the bottoms of our shoes. For the rest of our one night stay, we carried the dogs to an area nearby without burrs. Management: it is so simple to treat for sticker burrs. Be aware that for overnight you will probably be in the area without any trees. Brutal heat without shade. No picnic table. Good: Large sites. Easy ingress/egress. Pleasant staff, easy check in.

While this lake park has a great many features and uses, my primary activity here is running the…read moredirt trails that snake their way through the caliche hills and desert brush. These trails were built over time by and for mountain bikers but that also makes them great for running. As they are about the only true nature trail with some topography in Lubbock, I don't have much choice when I want to get off of pavement. That said, the many miles available offer a unique and fun environment for my runs (and perhaps one day mountain bike rides). The lake itself is quite large, yet it is only one lake in the interconnected chain of lakes through the east side of Lubbock. In warmer months, tons of people come here to fish or enjoy some paddling on the lake. There's a regular group of weekend paddle boarders meeting here in the mornings. Of course, there are also the running and mountain biking groups too, hitting the trails before the heat of the day kicks in. And if you aren't much of a trail runner or walker, there is paved road completely surrounding the lake offering a lot of mileage. They just built a new bathroom facility beside the main parking lot - much needed. And if you want to see a large colony of plump prairie dogs, you can watch them to your heart's content here.
