We've tried the steaks (tender and flavorful), sandwiches (yum! -- the cheesesteak seems packed with flavor and the grilled chicken is tender and juicy), fish and chips (not over-cooked -- lightly battered), and salads (fresh). Save -- if you can -- room for dessert! Everything is great, the portions are generous, and the price is reasonable (a rare find these days). Also, Josh (chef and co-owner) is a deep-fry master. His waffle fries, mozzarella sticks, and mushrooms are over-the-top. Josh sometimes steps out of the kitchen to greet customers and make sure everything is OK. The rest of the staff follow his lead for friendly service. If you get the chance, check out the adjacent, beautiful wine tasting room for Lake Barkley Winery. In addition to tastings from proprietor and builder, Bill, you can pick up some great local wines or some California varieties. Not only did Bill build the tasting room by hand (along with the entire building), he's the vintner who created the local wines from grapes he grew nearby. Get some of his local wine before he runs out of it. The California wines are from a vineyard his relative owns. This really is a family business! The tasting room is gorgeous and could be a great place to rent out for an elegant event. I hear JJ's and Lake Barkley are close to opening a banquet facility upstairs -- can't wait to see that!

We had been here over the summer, and stopped by with our daughter to share the experience. Service is always good, and some of the food is great. It seemed like the 1 inch porkchop was not as good as the gigantic one I had last time, but I coykd be crazy. My husband woukd say I was crazy, so there is that. My daughter loved her fish. The mashed potatoes with white gravy were so good, I ate those first. Hubby asked for a garden salad with salmon. He got a spinach salad with salmon. Our server brought it out and offered to have it remade, but the salad looked wonderful and he really enjoyed it. Kudos to the chef for standing his ground haha. We were too full for dessert. Highly recommend, for the experience and the cute period clothing. Get reservations though! We have to wait over an hour on our first visit. We made reservations the 2nd time and we're seated within 10 minutes.

There's this whole lighted (think Christmas type lights) walkthrough area behind the restaurant with animals, a koi pond and stores (gift & liquor). This space is unlike most any restaurant that I've ever been to but it was neat. The food is what really got Patti her rating though. The flower pot bread was good, the spinach salad with the hot bacon dressing was better and that pork chop with the sauce completed an excellent meal. Then came desert, the peanut butter chess pie was phenomenal and of course I had to get it with ice cream and now I'm getting ready for bed from a food induced coma.

We were renting a cabin in the area and wanted a good lunch after checking out. We considered a quick trip over to Patti's, a place I've always found extremely over-rated, but since they were still in tent only dining while the restaurant is rebuilt we decided to heed advice from a friend who recommended this little place. I'm glad we did. I'm not sure what's with the mediocre reviews. Maybe we were just lucky or maybe they've improved as most reviews are older. But, we stopped in for lunch and were quickly seated, fairly quickly served, and everything we ate was great. The highlight of the meal was probably the appetizers--the crab cakes and sauce are really good but the "salt wing" take the cake. Season salt caked and grilled to perfection they were seriously among the top 5 wing orders I've ever had anywhere. The entrees were all good too, I really dug the catfish sandwich and sides. I didn't have room for dessert but one of our friends did and she liked the chocolate pie. Great views, good prices, friendly service. I'll be back when/if in the area again.

We quit going here last year for the same reason. There either is not enough cook space or cooks, I'm not sure which but we won't be going back.
