A very nice BBQ "Joint!" Lots of parking, lots of options on the menu, tables inside and out, a nice selection of sauces, and very friendly staff. The restaurant is very clean and has several televisions. Katie did a great job helping me navigate the menu and keeping my Diet Coke filled. I ordered the Brisket Plate with Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Cheese Grits, and Cornbread. The Brisket was very moist and tender. It had a mild flavor, but the Hot BBQ Sauce helped. All 3 sides were tasty and I'm glad I ordered them. The Corn Bread had a nice texture and flavor, but the piece was a bit small and I would have liked some honey or butter with it. After we checked into the hotel we decided on The Joint for dinner. Only 5 minutes from the Hampton. In and outdoor seating. It was a Saturday night and there was live music on the patio. We sat inside. It was crowded and we sat at the first table inside the doors as it was the only table available. The issue with that table is the counter is right behind the table where costumers stand to purchase hand dipped ice cream. So it was pretty "busy" in the area. Three of us were splitting and we had decided on ribs only to be told they were out of ribs once we had decided to order so we had to go back to the menu to make other choices. We opted for the pork plate, comes we 3 sides and a bread choice. We had green beans, mac and cheese and baked beans, choice of bread was frozen garlic bread (no choice). All sides were kind of odd, green beans didn't have a lot of flavor, baked beans were sweet and the mac and cheese was bland. The pulled pork was tasty and the bbq sauce was good. We also had and appetizer of french fried pickles. They were my favorite thing we ordered. Served hot with ranch dipping sauce. And we had a brisket sandwich that my son in law really liked. For desseet we had a sluce of lemoncello cake. It was very good, rich, lite and fluffy and an excellent flavorful lemony taste. Our server was sweet and patient. They were very busy when we stopped for lunch. We were seated quickly and had our food about 5 minutes after ordering. The food was very good. We had the pulled pork sandwich basket with fries and coleslaw and the brisket basket with fried okra and coleslaw. The meats had some good smoke, but the brisket was a little dry. Bbq sauce took care of that. The slaw was good and a little sweet. The reason for 4 stars is because the restaurant is very noisy. Was traveling through Kentucky on my way back home to Colorado and we decided to give this place a go. We had one delicious BBQ place in Nashville and decided to try one more BBQ place before leaving the south. Now, to my knowledge Kentucky is not known for their BBQ but whatever. The place is very nice and clean when you enter and the servers and employees were all very nice. You pick your seat and the server will NOT forget about you. They want to make sure you have everything you need. They even noticed the syrup on my Coke Zero was almost empty and came back to the table, told me they noticed and are changing out the syrup, and then came back with it. That kind of service is unmatched. I ordered their ribs because I love ribs and my wife ordered the BBQ pork which is essentially their pulled pork (not sure if the term pulled pork is a regional thing). I'll start with the good. The garlic bread was awesome and a really interesting and good side for BBQ. I haven't seen that before but it worked well, other BBQ places should take notice. The fried okra was exactly what I wanted and was good. The potato salad was pretty heavy on the mayo but I liked it. And lastly the fries were...strange. They are steak fries but incredibly thing. I liked them. Now for the ribs...I am sad to say that these are probably some of the worst ribs I have had at a proper BBQ place. The meat was super fatty and the inside of the ribs were...pinkish red. I don't think they were under cooked because I saw pictures of them looking that way but something went wrong with the engineering of how these ribs were prepared. Maybe the smoke ring pierced the meat differently because of how fatty it was, maybe they used cherry wood, maybe the meat was frozen before smoking...I just don't know what went wrong. I never send back food (and didn't with these) but I was close. I tried my wife's BBQ pork and it was fine but pretty bland...it needed sauce badly which is provided at the table. I'm sure there is something good on this menu for an entree but I didn't have it on my visit. read more

We have eaten here 3-4 times now and absolutely love the food, ice cream and staff!!! Service is phenomenal and the wait staff is above par!!! They are kind, answer questions honestly and if you are like my husband and like to "pick" on people, they have a great sense of humor and will banter back and forth. This is one of our go to places when we are in Kentucky. Come early if you want ribs because they can sell out quick on weekends. My husband switches it up and orders something different each time. I was looking for a BBQ joint to eat in Marion at about 5:45 on a Sunday afternoon. There is a BBQ place in Marion but it closed at 6. I didn't want to be that guy. I drove to the next town and discovered that BBQ place closed early at 5:30 though Yelp said 8. It was definitely the restaurant's fault. So the next closest BBQ joint open was in Eddyville and well I'm glad it was a trip I took. I really wasn't impressed with what I read about the joint and then the sight of it being in an old Hardee's was a little off-putting. I'm so glad I gave it a try and didn't judge a book by its cover. There is serious BBQ here. There are no combo plates boo! But I asked the waitress what was the best seller between pork, ribs, and brisket and she said pork. She made an excellent recommendation! This pork was soft, seasoned well, and mixed well with all three of their sauces. With a plate, you were given a choice of 3 sides which is better because most BBQ joints only give you 2 sides. All 3 sides were marvelous and homemade. The baked beans were smoky and chunky. The potato salad was made from red skin potatoes and a sour cream conglomeration. The slaw was diced really fine with a good creamy mix of mayo and vinegar. I was given options for my bread and I went with the garlic toast. I love soft bread and this bread was perfectly soft with a nice garlic spread. There are 3 sauces. Only the mild is on the table so you have to request the sweet and hot. The mild and hot sauce is a mix of ketchup and mustard base with other things. Those 2 sauces had a light peppery and smoky taste. The hot was spicy but not hot. I would say a 3 out of 10 with 10 being super hot. The sweet was a good ketchup base. It reminded me of Sonny's sweet sauce if you have every had Sonny's. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! I got high on the smoke from the BBQ at the Joint and you should do the same. read more

We ordered carryout later in the evening on the Saturday before Labor Day. Food was ready in 20 minutes. Not bad at all. 5/5 for my Beyond burger and a side of red skin potato salad. They were quite tasty and I could have eaten another order of both. Everyone else in my groups seemed to enjoy their meals as well. My Yelp! review would have been the full 5/5 had the employees of The Joint been wearing masks. I read the business owner's disclaimer about their take on COVID days after patronizing this restaurant. I understand you temperature check your employees before each shift, require them to self-quarantine for 14-days if they leave the state and come back and that customers can ask employees to wear a mask, but how awkward? If I had to ask an employee to wear a mask I'd turn around and take my business to the chain restaurant across the street because at least they're mandating masks. Employees, at minimum, should be wearing a mask. Are you not at all concerned about your employees potentially being exposed to an unmasked townie or out-of-towner (like myself) who may be asymptomatic? Can't imagine how many people went in and out of The Joint over Labor Day weekend unmasked. Ultimately 3/5 stars because of their own interpretation of Kentucky's COVID guidelines as they pertain to restaurants. Shame on me for not doing my due-diligence before ordering. read more

Good bbq, neat place. We were camping close and found them on yelp. My wife had the bbq Mac and cheese. She said it was really good and a lot of bbq pork was on it. I had the smoked wings. They were good, maybe a little overcooked but that happens with smoked wings sometimes. All in all we would eat here again. Lots on the menu and the ribs looked really good. Great new business! I've had about 5 Impossible burgers in my life and all were very good. But this joint serves the best I've ever had. Crunchy edges, but this was also delightfully moist too. I'm all about the sauce and I really enjoyed the two that I tried. Both the spicy mustard and the mild BBQ sauce were delicious. All our sides were tasty too. The only complaints were: that the pork sandwich was a little light on pork (we agreed the buns and other toppings were yummy) and they are a 10 hour drive, so it's too far for another meal! We found this place by pure accident today, so happy that we did. YUM!! My wife ordered the pulled pork on fries appetizer as her meal, it was really good. I had the brisket sandwich basket with fries and baked beans. This was also very good. The meat was tender. There are three sauces on the table so you can make it even more to your liking. Our server was very attentive and polite, very nice young lady. The restaurant was clean as were the bathrooms. While traveling, we try not to eat at chain restaurants, this fit the bill. I was also torn between the 3 and 4 star review here. The food was good but not exceptional but it is priced very high for relatively small portions. In retrospect, the greater value is in the sandwiches as the meat portion looks to be similar to the full size dinners but you are paying upwards of $4-5 for some very small sides. The baked beans were very good and definitely worthy of any BBQ joint. The service was not good. It was slow at best and took several of the very slow trips to get basics like silverware. Despite being busy, it took roughly 20 minutes to get the check and get out. We were here on a holiday weekend and the service may have been slow simply due to the restaurant being packed but that brings me to my final point. There are absolutely no COVID-19 precautions being taken here. There is no limited capacity, empty seating between groups, not even a shower curtain. Seating is cheek to cheek indoors. read more

Our vacations so often end up being centered around one big great meal a day. Which means, that one great meal better be good! The Joint was our first meal of our trip to Western Ky, and it was a fantastic choice! We had the fried pickles as an appetizer. They serve a peppercorn Parmesan dipping sauce with it and the combination is unique and delicious. So often places serve a plain old ranch dressing with their fried pickles or any kind of fried vegetable, but this was different with a strong Parmesan flavor and was quite yummy! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with beer cheese and jalapeños. The hubs got a brisket sandwich. I was very pleased with my sandwich and onion rings. The hubs was not as enamored as I within brisket but enjoyed his fries. He claimed it was a little dry. I picked at pieces that were left over on his plate and thought it was quite tasty!!
