This park is complete trash!! Half the rides were closed including the big rollercoaster as well as most the rides in the water park. Even the big splash area with the giant bucket that dumps water was down. Lazy river down. Family raft ride down. They take your money for the ticket and price gouge you on parking. ( over 30 dollars) and then when you get inside you are perplexed. The food is ridiculous in price and the ice machines didn't work. Also becuase most of the rides are down you are waiting in line for hours for the ones that are open. I will probably never return for that experience. And if you go to social media local forums you will see this is most people's experience. Never used to be this way very sad and disturbing. Complete robbery if you ask me. read more

We Love this place. Today was my first visit, but my husband went here as a kid. For group pricing, it was great pricing allowing us to take more family. Honestly, this is a very kid-friendly park. The restrooms could be a little cleaner, the kid's roller coaster should go around more than once, and the prize system when you play to play games I think could be better priced, but overall the place, in my opinion, was better than your big name parks. We Can't wait to return! My kids had more fun here than on our recent trip to sesame place. We spent the entire morning in the water park because the kids loved how many kid-friendly sections the park has. Foodie Tip: The pizza was doughy from too much cheese, the waffle fries and chicken tenders were pretty good, and getting the drink cups for all-day refills saves you $$$. read more

I came here with my friends as a graduation from college celebration. Upon entering the park, we saw a bunch of people leaving but we decided to see what was going on for ourselves. We got on one ride, and it worked and the wait wasn't long, so we assumed the rest of our experience would be the same. We then proceeded to Saw Mill Plunge, and realized we were mistaken. We waited on like for over an hour for a ride that was not being managed well, as there were so many single riders. We then waited in line for Phobia, but someone urinated on the ride and we had to wait additional time. I personally have been coming here since childhood and everything has changed for the worst. I am extremely unhappy with how much money we paid (over $250 total for 4 of us with parking) for the lack of rides being open. Thunder and Lightning was closed, Zoomerang was closed, Boulder Dash was closed, and everything else has ridiculous wait times because there was no crowd control happening due to the lack of open rides. Not to MENTION, we were strapped into Down Time and then taken off of the ride after it malfunctioned while we were on it. This was the worst experience I ever had and I will NOT be coming back. read more

Since Lake Compounce is deleting all negative comments on social media, I felt the need to write a yelp review to keep consumers informed. Got the tickets at a discounted price, however still needed to pay $10 for parking. The facility is completely cashless so be prepared for that. We have gone in the past and had a decent experience so we were excited to go again, but times have changed. We got pictures with Santa but the packages were super expensive and you couldn't just buy an ornament without buying a package so we passed. The hot chocolate was room temp at 330 pm (half hour after opening) and the soft pretzels were stale and dry. There were very few hot food options and everything was insanely expensive. There weren't really any activities for my older 2 kids, but it younger one had fun on the rides. The absolute worse part of the night was the train. We waited 45 minutes to go on the slowest train ride in existence. The lights look like some underpaid employee threw them on the trees haphazardly. The ride was 25min ish and for the first 5 minutes there were lights and music, but for the rest of the trip it was mostly dark and no music. Obviously it was freezing cold and super miserable. We've gone before and there were lights in the lake and all throughout the field and Christmas songs playing, it was so enjoyable but this year wasn't it. Overall there are much better events in the state, and we won't be doing this event again unless they make some huge changes which I doubt they will do! read more

NOTE - this review is for The Haunted Graveyard Only. Although some of the other attractions were open during my time there, I do not feel I spent enough time on them to warrant a full review (guess I will have to go back!) If you love Halloween and all things spooky and scary then Lake Compounce's Haunted Graveyard is the place for you. This outdoor walking attraction scared the living crap out of me from the moment I walked through the doors of the "church" and for the next 45 minutes or so. Kudos to Ernie and his team for putting together a purely terrifying experience - from the spooky music playing to the intricate and well put together scenes to the actor who were terrifying in their own right - it all comes together in a neatly wrapped fright fest. What's more is that the actors get the most amount of terror out of their victims from just jumping out of the darkness or getting so close (without touching) that their sheer presence was enough to make me scream more times then I will write down in this review. Ernie and his staff (who start putting together the attraction each February) have put together room upon room and scene upon scene that just when you think the "exit" is around the corner you are "greeted" by a witch, zombie, crazy hillbilly or Zulu princess. And it's not just the actors but the detail that is in each room/scene - I did not know which way to turn and as much I tried to avoid it, there was always some prop that I just did not expect to move, pop out or fall. A sigh of relief when I finally exited - not because I was glad it was over - but because I knew that I did not have to "hopefully" look over my shoulder anymore. Kudos to Ernie and his staff - this was my first experience at the Haunted Graveyard - it's a hidden gem at Lake Compounce but don't let the size of the park fool you - they pack a lot of fright in those back woods. read more

Lake Compounce is the longest continuously-operating amusement park in the US. Needless to say, there's a lot of history here. I like that this amusement park is able to have some unique charm while also having state-of-the-art rides. It doesn't feel too commercial but also feels safe and family oriented. The people who work here are all super nice. They seem to have a bond together, too. On their opening Sunday night, the lines were really quick. In terms of food, I was ecstatic to see Dippin' Dots. (It doesn't take too much to please me.) There aren't a lot of [good] vegetarian options, unfortunately. Also, the sweet potato fries were too mushy. For the fall time, I also got to experience the Haunted Graveyard (check out my review!). I was surprised that after the graveyard, which is offset from the rest of the amusement park, there are still haunted characters between you and the exit, so beware! read more

This used to be great and they have free sodas. Now you have to paid for sodas. Also it took me 30 mins at Parkside diner to get 3 bacon cheese burger that's suppose to be fast food. Only 1 employees working at the food counter and the short cooks was super slow. Same counter person doing everything during lunch time at 1 pm. Poorly managed location. This made my experience from 3 stars to 1 I will not be back next year. I went with my class on Education Day. There were at least 100 other schools as well. 70% of the food carts were closed. For the few food places that were open, the wait was an hour and a half. It didn't help that kids were cutting constantly. Many of the rides the students were looking forward to were closed. I was there for 7 hours and my students went on 3 rides. THREE RIDES! This place is poorly run to say the least. They should be shut down for mismanagement. How dare they sell tickets to this many people and then have no intention of providing a good experience. Lake Compounce was a treat! We have visited dozens of amusement parks across the U.S, and Lake Compounce is certainly near the top of our list! While it may not be a mega sized park with extreme roller coasters, it is sure to bring a smile to your face. The Boulder Dash was very fun, and is a must-ride for anyone attending the park. There is an average variety of flat rides, a large water park, a stellar Kiddieland, and four larger roller coasters. STAY VERY VERY FAR AWAY! Half the rides have been closed for over a year!!! Place is dirty they charge you for soda now. Staff is incompetent and no one knows what's going on when you ask them. Disappointing. As a person who has been going there every year it was noticeably different this year. It's a shame that they charge $47 per person plus $30 parking fee if you don't get the parking pass online and 5 rides were closed. Went to get ice cream two hours before the park closed and the kid would not serve us because he claimed he was closed. Went to Johnny Rockets to get a shake and was told they don't sell shakes even though there's a clear sign indicating "shakes". And the list goes on and on. We came here last month with our 2 year old and a couple other families with small children to experience the Holiday Lights. This is an event in which the park is decked out with Christmas light shows, ice carvings and holiday spirit. Luckily, the night we went it was chilly, but not bitterly cold. Our son loved seeing all of the lights and even went on his first ride with us, the carousel. He was pretty upset when the ride ended, so the worker running it said that we could just stay on to go on it again. Most of the rides that were open were geared towards small children, say ages 3-9. There were also food trucks parked throughout the park (wish we had known this prior or we wouldn't have had dinner prior to going). We did opt for some hot chocolate from the Dunkin' Donuts. It was a great experience and we would totally go back when our son is big enough to ride most of the rides! read more

I spent many childhood summers at lake compounce theme park in Bristol, CT. We liked that it was a smaller park than six flags, and more appropriate for younger kids who want some dry rides and some water rides for the same admission cost. Boulder dash was always the fan favorite, and we looked forward to the haunted attraction in the fall when you could ride it in the dark and walk through a pretty awesome haunted house. My family truly made great memories there. HOWEVER, we just returned for this seasons fall attraction on 10/15- the "Phantom Fall Fest", with high hopes. We arrived for attractions around 6pm, and paid an astronomical parking fee of $30 to park in their standard lot. Tickets for the attraction were priced around $50 per ticket with taxes and fees, and their online advertising said that rides, food, and 4 haunted houses would be open until 10pm. To our surprise, more than half the rides were closed, including zoomerang, phobia and bolder dash, there were huge lines all over the park for the haunted houses, and no food. Spuds at the front of the park appeared to be the only food available and had a long line that we waited in - and once we got to the front we were told they were out of cheese and potatoes! Because of the lines, we got on two rides - the flying swings and wildcat. We did not get into any haunted house. To make it worse, the park was dirty and chaotic, with no clear guidance on where haunted houses were, where you could find food, and what rides were open. It was all around an expensive, confusing and frustrating experience. To offer a bit of advice: when the haunted houses were outside the limits of the park tucked in the back corner behind zoomerang, everything worked more seamlessly. This is much better than having huge weaving lines all over the park. Also - transparency is a good thing. Tell customers online what rides are open or closed that day. Tell them that they should come earlier to make sure they get through the haunted houses (there was a lack of clarity on the website - it said that 12-6 was for children and 6-10 was for adults). And lastly - have food available! Once you are in the park you have no other choice for food. With all that being said, unless something drastically changes with operations and management, I will not be returning for this event anytime soon. read more

We have been coming here for about 6 years. It used to be a great place to get away. We stay in the campground and trolley over to the park. This weekend we stayed in the campground. Saturday the store gave us our bring a friend passes. Sunday they don't do that! Really??!!!! We've done it at the camp store for 6 years now. And there's no more trolley to bring you over. There is no customer service at all. Doing all the ticket stuff and avoiding the big line was a perk of staying on the campground. So frustrating. Lots of fun! If you've ever been to Rye Playland And love it you'll love this place. Very nostalgic feel up in here! Not over whelming with rides or people. Was a little disappointed with the water area. I think my expectations were too high. I think they should do sessions so that your not waiting on a line to enter the water park. The day we visited, most of the rides were not operating. I am unsure if it was due to staffing or maintenance of the attractions. Most of the food vendors were closed as well. There were only three places open to serve a full park. Lines were not terrible to wait in, however, other patrons in line were rude. They would cut the line and push their way to the front for prime seats on the coasters. We purchased flash sale discount tickets and we're glad we didn't pay full price to go into the park. We have been coming here for years. Under normal circumstances this park is an amazing value. Drinks are free and food prices are not outrageous. Rides that rival bigger better known theme parks, like boulder dash and Phear coaster. plus an entire water park. There are changes during these covid times and it takes away from what i said above. fun diversion, but not a great value. However under these circumstances the mere fact its open might make it a value. gone is the free drinks, bunch of rides and services not open. water park we avoided. crowded (for covid times) and not many masks in sight. (regular ride section requires masks and hand sanitizer everywhere.) overall i normally try to get here more than once a summer, this year once is nice. read more

My kids and I had a great time at this amusement park. It's smaller than other parks, but everything is carefully considered. Our main focus was on Boulder Dash, rated the #1 wooden roller coaster in the land for many years; we totally loved this ride so much we went on it three times. Wildcat was terrible. It was just too rough a ride. Thunder Rapids and the Saw Mill Plunge was fun. Ghost Hunt was cool. We also like the Bumper Cars, the Airplane Flyers, and the swings. The pizza wasn't as bad as everyone says it is. We went to the Pizza Place rather than Harborside Pizza. If you are a roller coaster fanatic, check out Boulder Dash. I'm sure you'll probably have fun on Phobia as well; we just didn't try it because I can't deal with the extreme corkscrews. read more

Meant to post this several weeks ago. Took 6 kids to Lake Compounce in mid- August. We got there early so the kids could get a good spot in line for Boulderdash while I got a locker for our stuff. Park opened, kids raced to the rollercoaster, it was closed; not letting anyone on for about 30 mins. Meanwhile I stood in the locker line for 45 mins because the kiosks were broken. 100s of us swiped our credit cards and at the very last step, it said "cannot process"; I did this twice. Guess what? My credit card got charged both times $23 for lockers I never got (which I did not realize til my cc bill arrived). 100s of us did this; that's over $2000 they made just in people trying to get lockers in a broken system. Finally a man came and said he had to reset all of the kiosks. I called the park 2 weeks later and there is an annoying process to getting your money back, they only refunded me for one of the lockers. Back to the park...I rented a stroller instead and pushed all our stuff around all day. The kids were very disappointed that their second fave rollercoaster - Phobia - was closed - I was told it was because it was "hot out". The wooden rollercoaster was also down "due to repairs". We went in 2021; it was closed then too. So many of the rides did not open until 12 or 1 when staff finally arrived. The park was open 11-6; staff are not going to open rides until 1pm??? Ridiculous!!! So Phobia was closed supposedly due to the heat, so at least we could ride the log flume to cool off...oh wait - nope! That was also closed!! So since there were so few rides open, we headed to the water park. Guess what - half of the slides were closed!! So the water park was overcrowded with people in the pools and the lines for the few slides that were open were unbearably long. Oh yes - let's cool off in the lake instead - nope! My family and I visited on 7/27/24. We purchased our tickets,meal tickets, & parking pass online. We got to the park at 12pm and paid $18 for a locker the size of a shoebox. We try to get food at Nathan Famous were we waited for 3hrs on line. When we get to the front of the line we kept getting skipped by someone who knew the manager working when we finally get our chance to order there sold out of Fries,cheese and cookies only had 1 burger left. So we ordered what we could get and received cold stale nasty food. It's now gonna be 4pm and we haven't even gotten to enjoy 1 ride yet. We hit the wave pool and go to the theme park side. We go and wait on line to the twister, my 12 year old daughter was targeted by a park employee for leaning on the railing I approach the worker and ask him why he's targeting my daughter when there is white kids literally flipping and twirling around the pole, he says nothing and turns around, his vibes with people of color where bad and it was obvious. We were so disgusted and my kids felt very discriminated. When we went to change in the locker to go home we found a used condom on the floor of the men's bathroom. I went to customer relations and told them about our experience and she was very apologetic and advised us to email lake compounce relations department and gave us food vouchers for our next visit which will be never. The 2 hour drive to the park and long lines with no drinks or ice in any station nothing you pay for you get. Hispanics and african americans beware!! read more

Lake Compounce a couple years ago changed pass perks mid season and again today they did it again. With our 3 gold passes we were promised 2 bring a buddy days each. Two of them used both bring a buddy days but today trying to bring the boys' friend again with third pass that used only one was told the gold pass has only 1 buddy day. Few weeks ago had issue with getting charged for drinks that were supposed to be free too. So in the end bought two passes for $150 each and planned so the buddy days would cover their friend- bought that one for that reason- but it has cost me an additional almost $150 for being charged for stuff that should be included. read more

This place is a scam . Service charges, parking charges. Doors open at 11 and many of the rides don't open until 12. Speedpass means if you don't pay more money you're waiting in short line that take hours to traverse because they've slowed down the frequency and amount of cars. On my visit 3 of main attractions were down. And there aren't many basic rides. We were waiting so long for the haunted house, we walked out of line. That's because the speed pass ppl were ushered in leaving the hundreds of others who paid hundreds of hard earned dollars to stand for hiIt's a miserable experience for such a small park. We paid $50 for tickets and arrived just to find out almost every good ride was closed. We eventually went on boulder dash when it finally opened which was the best ride however we left very disappointed and wishing we went to six flags. the fact that the rides were closed resulted in absurdly long lines because nothing else was available. six flags is the choice next time. read more

I've lived in CT basically my entire life. Growing up, this was my family's choice in amusement parks due to its distance from New Haven county and relatively cheap price. Fast forward over a decade, I stopped by to check it out. What I was greeted with wasn't what I necessarily remember. Although I expected parking to be a little expensive as well as entry, I didn't feel as though the park itself justifies the price. Sure it has a pretty decent water park area and a good amount of kiddie rides but very little in the way of thrills. I arrived at 1pm thinking I wouldn't have enough time in the park given it closed 7PM the day we went. I was rather wrong as I saw myself heading home at 5PM and even that was a stretch. The lack of roller coasters, the removal of the trolly (fond memories on it) and price for me became a huge turnoff. I'd much rather make the extra half hour to an hour drive up to Agawam, MA and spend the day at Six Flags that includes nearly everything they have plus a lot more. For some people, this park is absolutely perfect for their needs. Other people like me who want more than a handful of coasters and thrills, this isn't the place. Sad to see how much they've changed and what they got rid of since I was last there. Unfortunate. read more

My daughter and I visited your park on Thursday, August 17, and to say we were disappointed would be a serious understatement. Shortly after we arrived, we were trapped on the kiddie coaster for a half hour when a chain broke during the lift and maintenance could not release the brakes to get us down. For this inconvenience, we were given a single line pass. We hoped to use this pass on one of our favorite rides, the Saw Mill plunge or Boulder Dash, but somehow BOTH rides were closed on this day. The workers assigned to the entrance at Boulder Dash told us that they were told the ride "might open at 1" but of course it never did. Wildcat was also closed and my daughter is too little for Phobia, so right there were four main attractions in the middle of your park that were inaccessible to us during our visit. This is especially pathetic in the case of Boulder Dash, as your website touts a brand new track was just put in place. And it's already broken!? We were given no warning these rides would not be operational. I have a picture of the board by the entrance which says which rides aren't running that day, and it was blank. So you don't find out until you've already forked over $100+ for parking and two tickets. I can only imagine what a large family pays just to be disappointed. Even if the board had been filled in, you've already paid $30 in non-refundable parking. All day long, I could see the disappointment on my daughter's face as she approached the rides she'd been waiting all summer to go on, only to find them closed. She wanted to go on the balloon ride in the kiddie area, only to be told it was "shutting down for the day" at 5:30 when the park closes at 6. Needless to say, our experience was not a good one. I don't know where the disconnect is happening, but you have people visiting your park that expect to get their money's worth, not walk around from closed ride to closed ride just hoping to find something to at pass the time. We have gone to Lake Compounce for the last several summers, but will not be returning unless assurances and serious changes are made regarding the reliability of the rides and management at the park. I hope that you will do something to make this right. My daughter and I chose your establishment for our day of summer fun, only to be stuck on a ride, find the rides we had been looking forward to inoperable with no warning, and leave disappointed.
