I will not be bringing any of my apple products for repair here any more. Once was enough. Got my iPhone 8 Plus screen replaced here, and immediately could tell that the pressure sensor was off, meaning applications would not work correctly, typing was off, etc. The screen they used to replace my old one was cheap, it cracked after normal use, and even popped out of place. Will not be coming back, shoddy material, shoddy work. uBreakIfix is a much better company, uses correct parts, and their work is mint. read more

I was ripped off at the Kalamazoo Ave location in Grand Rapids. Paid $160.00 for new battery on a Galaxy S7, and got and old one, if they really replaced it. Phone is supposed to be sealed; they just glued it. I will not recommend this business. read more

My daughter's phone was stepped on during a track meet. I'm not sure how many of you have a 16 year old daughter, but try depriving her of a phone for even one day! According to AT&T, she was still a month away from and upgrade. They offered to put her on the NEXT program, but I was unwilling to do so. I needed help in a hurry, and the GREAT people at Genius Phone Repair were the answer to my question! Nick was able to repair an old iPhone4 I had in a drawer, and swap out the sim card from my daughter's old phone. Talk about two birds with one stone! happy daughter, happy family. And all because of the dedicated, professional service we got from Genius. And the best part, it was all accomplished on the same day we brought it in, at the price they promised. If there is anyone that needs unhindered access to social media, it's me and my shattered Samsung Galaxy S3 was seriously impeding my ability to read and write Yelp reviews. So I took my phone to the wizards at Genius to replace the screen. I dropped my phone off at 5:00 pm on Wednesday night and by 6:30 that evening I had an email that my phone was finished. I stopped by the next day on lunch to pick it up. Even better, my repair came in at the price they quoted me ($99). A user at my company (I'm the CTO there) dropped her Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and cracked the screen. Don't usually have time for non-critical equipment, so I called and talked to the staff at the Alpine location. I was told $199 to replace the digitizer and LCD. I sent her down to the Alpine location on 6/9/2018 - they tell her she has to send it to Microsoft to have it done or the "charging port won't work". Verbatim from User: "They say the only ones that can fix the computer is Microsoft itself. Reason being, the charging port will not work if anyone else tries to fix it because it is a Microsoft surface." I buy a repair kit for $56. Bring it home that night, and after a little heat from my rework station, some guitar picks, and some iso-propyl for cleanup - the new screen is in and she is already putting new sales orders in the pipeline the next day. If you're the franchise owner reading this - you could do better with your staff. I also wouldn't mind getting an hour of my personal life back - but that won't happen. I'll be stopping by the location with the screen from the R&R as proof and to speak to whoever is in charge. read more

Not so Genius. Second person in their store when they opened with a cracked screen. First person gets the twenty minute repair by paying extra. They tell me 3 hours and I reply that I'll pay for the twenty minute express. I'm told they might get my phone repaired in less than three hours. Why advertise the Twenty minute express service if your employees don't want to provide it . Terrible service! No stars today but I have to give one to vent my frustrations. read more

My son's iPod Touch had the dreaded battery issue and the idea of spending $45 for a battery for an older generation iPod that my 10yr old was using wasn't sitting too well in my stomach. I did not want to mail it away for the replacement because I've had terrible experiences with that in the past. I was pretty happy to snag a Living Social deal for Genius, $25 for $50 worth of repair services. I dropped off the iPod and it was ready less than 24hrs later. The tech was very thorough in explaining how to get the most power out of the battery by showing me some of the settings I could change, he also gave me some direction on how to drain and recharge the battery a few times. The service and parts come with a warranty and that also gives me a lot of confidence knowing they'll stand behind their work. If I have any phone or small electronics issues in the future, they will definitely be my first stop. read more

I took my father's laptop to get the keyboard repaired for his birthday in October. I originally brought it in on October 14th. After 3 1/2 months of poor customer service and communication, I finally got it back. I was promised it would only take 2 weeks and was told that the part was coming from California originally. I was later told it was coming from China and it'd be a month to ship. I called them again and was told that my device was in pickup because they couldn't get ahold of me. I had zero phone calls or voicemails from them. I made every single call to get an update, and each time they were confused because they have such poor communication within the company. They tried to deny servicing my device because my part was "too rare". I googled it and found the exact one on Newegg for $26. The employee wanted to argue with me that it was terrible quality and he refused to use that website. They took it up with their GM and got it approved because of how terrible the experience was for me. Even after all of this, they charged me $120. They didn't even try to cut me a deal for such a major inconvenience nor did they apologize when I finally got my laptop back. They'll never receive my business again and I suggest that anyone else avoids it as well. read more

Avoid at all cost. I have visited multiple times and find this place to be dishonest, creepy and sneaky, and provide horribly poor customer service. The workers are cocky teenagers that don't listen, care, or want to treat anyone with respect. I observe this over the past two days while visiting this store, not only for myself but also watching another customer. I asked if there was a manager I could speak with, but was told that there was no number I could call or someone I could speak with. Avoid. Unfortunately, even the big box cell providers have better customer service - and that is setting the bar low. read more

I was happy when my screen was repaired at the Genius Repair near Celebration Cinema. However, I realized shortly after that I could no longer hear people talk. When I took it back to have them correct the mistake they told me "it is a known problem on this phone...take it to Apple". This seemed a little too coincidental, but I went over to Apple. When they looked at it they told me the warranty was void because I had the screen repair done by a third party. It would cost me another 165 to repair the new damage done by Genius. They suggested I go back to Genius and insist they fix it. I went to the other location on E. Beltline and 28th where they kindly did repair it. They get good marks...the other one I would stay clear of! read more

I brought my iPhone in for a diagnostic and possible cleaning after it came into contact with a minor amount of water. They RUINED it! The cleaning apparently involved something very abrasive, like a toothbrush, which tore of a number of chips on the logic board, and damaged one to the point of not being able to be re-soldered. read more

They are absolutely awful! I dropped my phone and not only did the screen shatter but the inside of my phone had gotten messed up according to them. I asked them to fix it and after it was done I noticed that the screen glitches sometimes. That wasn't a problem because when I turned off and on again it would go away. The real issue is that after about a month my screen just cracked out of nowhere. I set it down pretty lightly the way I normally do and when I came back the screen had a crack in it. Now I am writing this with a cracked screen. read more

Very disappointed with the service and support we received from Genius Phone Repair. We've dealt with them on two occasions and both left us with disappointment. My wife first brought her phone in to repair a cracked screen. She was told the repair would take an hour and a half. 4 hours later, the repair was still not complete. She found this out by walking back into the store. Half an hour or so later, the repair was completed. She left the store happy that her screen was replaced but frustrated with the time it took for the repair. That lasted for a day or two. We soon noticed the corner of the screen started to rise in the upper left. She also experienced issues with response to her touch being sensed (this issue was not experienced before the screen was replaced). After awhile she was getting frustrated with this and I returned to the store with her. They said they'd re-seat the screen since it was still under warranty. It would take an hour or two. Once again, the repair took over 4 hours. When we received the phone back, we still experienced the screen being off and raised a bit. She's still experiencing issues with the screen. And to top it off, they had removed the memory card and forgot to replace it. Coming from this experience, I would not recommend Genius Phone Repair. Extremely long repair times, repairs not being completed properly, and forgetting to replace equipment is unacceptable. UPDATE The issues continued to get worse and worse after the visit to the Genius Phone Repair on Celebration Drive. Thankfully another store opened in Muskegon. I had my wife bring her phone into the new GPR and, to our surprise, they took care of the phone, fixed it, and have not had a problem. I'm not sure what the problem is with the Grand Rapids store but the Muskegon store knocked our expectations out of the water. read more

My LCD burnt out on my Iphone so I brought it here for repairs. They charged my around $130 and had it done in a timely manner. Within three days the touch sensitivity was decreased, by day 4 my fingerprint would no longer register and on day 5 my phone entered the "logo loop"(phone would constantly restart on the apple logo). I brought it into the store and they tried switching the battery out and the LCD out again. Nothing worked and after contacting apple, my phone has experienced "A critical hardware problem" and now I need a brand new phone. I have no proof there's a correlation between Genius taking apart my phone and me experiencing a critical hardware failure, just funny timing. read more

Unimpressed. I took my Galaxy S7 to Genius Phone Repair about a month ago after a nasty fall. They had to replace the glass and the LCD. The phone took over a week to repair because someone kept screwing up the order and either ordering the wrong part or shipped it to the wrong store. Once I got it back, it worked fine but the VERY. NEXT. TIME. it fell from less than three feet onto a soft surface floor (vinyl - to be specific), less than a month later, they refused to compensate AT. ALL. Clearly, a phone's brand new LCD should not break after one short trip to a soft surface. If a phone is really that fragile after a repair that I paid no less than $200 for, then that should be disclosed. Otherwise, it should be covered under their 30 day warranty. read more

I'm shocked at all of the positive reviews here! This place is a massive disappointment!!!!!!!!! They lie throught their teeth about using the "best OEM parts available and they are the same as what apple uses". This is a LIE! I recently broke my screen, they fixed, I was happy. Days later I broke it again...bad luck right? Come to find out after my 5th replacement screen in less than 30 days, the screens they use are EXTREMELY sub quality. The glass adhesive was peeling right off the frame of the new screens. 2 were replaced for free due to warranty, but the last time (5th replacement), they would not warranty my screen cause they said i broke it. The adhesive was AGAIN pulling off and when i pressed it back on with my thumb, the screen shattered! That was NOT my fault, that is POOR quality glass. After taking it to a MUCH more reliable company to fix it, they pointed out the extreme lack of quality in how the glass broke and the parts used. I was shown the difference from the Genius Screen provided, to a "good" screen, the difference was night and day. I don't like being lied to right to my face. I recommend going to Oops Phone Repair!!!!! The customer service alone was 1000x better than the unprofessional children at Genius. read more

Extremely frustrated with the lack of customer service from this location. I took my phone there previously to have it repaired after severely damaging it. They did an amazing job fixing it and got it back to me in a timely matter. Months later the screen has begun to peel off. I went in to have it repaired since they now offer lifetime warranties but refused to help me because I didn't bring my receipt in. When I asked if he could look it up, he said no. He could however look up my information by first and last name...amazing that a ticket # wouldn't be associated with that, right?! So then he said he would talk to his manager and he comes back and says "Nope, there is a scratch on the screen so it will be $150 to repair it" What? Why do I have to pay YOU to repair something that wasn't appropriately fixed the first time? Seems like a scam to me. I left frustrated and confused. Pretty upsetting for a place that was pretty helpful the first time. I will not go back again and would not recommend to anyone looking for a phone repair. read more

Took my iPhone in after I cracked the screen and they "fixed it". Well I thought they did. I get home and the fingerprint scanner for the home button is broke. Not a big problem, so I take in in and since it's still under warranty they fix it. Months later (when my phone is not under warranty anymore) my screen starts to peel off. I take it back to the exact location who "fixed it" last time. They said since its past the warranty it would cost $109. It didn't make sense to pay the same people who broke it on the first place to do the same thing. Very poor customer service I understand warranties but if you guys didn't fix it correctly in the first place why should I have to pay an additional $100 to have you fix your own mistake. Might as well take it to someone else to fix it the right way the first time. read more

I brought my phone in for a screen repair. After one week it started failing intermittently. I brought it in and at that time it was working. I explained the problem and stated it needed to be replaced. They would not do so because it was working. The next day it started acting up again. I found that tapping it on the back brings it back to life. After a week of doing this I dropped it and chipped the corner and now they won't do anything for me because it's damaged. I find this to be poor customer service. I explained this whole story to the manager and there is nothing they will do for me. Going up the chain of command to the district manager. DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE AN IPHONE, went to get my lcd replaced, worked for a day and then the screen went dead, brought it back and the manager was a dick, second time they found my connector the power the LCD was visibly burnt, so asked for my original parts and a refund, couple days later I got it back with my "original parts" the manager said and then told me to bring it to Apple, I brought it to Apple to get fixed and they said it contained off-brand parts. Moral of the story, always go straight to Apple for IPhone issues. read more

They do not stand behind there 90 day guarantee. I had a phone that needed to be repaired. The glass cracked. They did the repair and recommended an Otter box case and an additional layer of glass to protect the phone. Shortly there after the LCD screen cracked. No misuse or abuse to the phone. Both layers of glass were not cracked, there comment was they have never seen this happen before. To my delight they would return my original repair expense and charge me the cost to replace the LCD. I thought that was fair. However when I came back the following business day the person who quoted me the cost and the manager who authorized the repair cost were not there. I was charged the entire amount of the repair, which turned out to be $200.00 There reasoning is that there is no such thing as a manufacturing defect. If it works when they hand it to you and you leave the store and it stops working it has to be something you did. "It worked when you left" I find this to be the most dishonest place I have ever done business with. I can not think of any other place of business that I deal with that would ever treat a customer this way. If you have anything replaced on your phone make sure the part is new not refurbished. Genius charges you for the item, say the broken glass, they do not remove the glass and install a new piece. They install an entire assembly, the glass and the LCD screen. What they do is resell your old LCD screen to a company who replaces the glass and then resells it back to them. You are getting old parts installed into your phone. Don't let them BS you they are only making 20 dollars on the repair they are making money from you and then turning around and selling the parts to be rebuilt. read more

DON'T GO HERE! I took my phone in to get the screen replaced. It immediately cracked again for no apparent reason. I took it back with the receipt and the 90 day warranty. They said that it is impossible for the screen that they installed to be defective and that it never happens that they install a screen incorrectly. They also said that any damage to the screen voids the 90 day warranty. They refused to fix it and said that I need to get a new phone or continue using my cracked one. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
