    Orange Twister

So we visited again and I brought my sister with me. My wife and I ordered the Orange Twister in a cup, and my sister ordered salted caramel and peanut butter on a waffle cone. Service was once again great, the ice cream was great, and since it wasn't so busy, we ate our ice cream on the bench outside. This place is such a wonderful addition to Lake Elmo; we will be back.

Last week I stayed with my sister's family for the week and they were super excited to introduce me to the new Lake Elmo Creamery. We walked as its perfect distance and the weather was incredible. What an inviting space with the bright lights and cute decor. As soon as you walk in, staff are right there to help you and asking if there's any flavors you'd like to try. SO, many flavors to pick from. It took me sometime to decide. The portions are phenomenal and one scoop in the waffle cone makes my tummy happy. I'm not huge on icecream, but during my stay I came three times and don't regret it at all. Each flavor I had was fantastic and I like how flavors are switched out. I loved the limited supply of the chocolate waffle cone... it was yummy. I did notice there were some local chocolates being sold near the counter and a cooler full of pint size ice cream if you're interested in taking some home for another day. Honestly, this is the perfect addition to Lake Elmo. I'll definitely be back soon (maybe even each time I visit my sister!). Don't forget to ask for a receipt and join the rewards program, you won't regret that. Can't wait to return to this new gem that's become my favorite for icecream.

There are plenty of signs, as this place is kind of tucked away. You will park on the street, but given the fact that this is a small town, parking is not an issue. Walk down and order at the window. They take cash and cards. There are so many options to choose from! From what I could tell, there was one dairy free option (raspberry lemon sorbet, very refreshing!) and they did have gluten free cones as a choice as well. There are a few areas for seating, but I would personally recommend taking a short trail to the left down to the river! There are a few little trails and a beautiful little creek! Very peaceful! All of the ice cream was delicious and the girls serving were super sweet! Note: This city has a siren (sounds like the severe weather siren) that goes off everyday at noon. They also use it to call for firefighters, since there is very little to no cell service in the area! Scared the heck out of us hahaha! Definitely worth going to check out!!

You can order inside or come up to the window on three outside and order. I opted to check out the inside of the shop. I ordered 1 scoop of the caramel collision in a cup. It was sooooo delish that I'll definitely be back. It tasted like a rolo and had even mini rolos inside the ice cream. YUM! I can't wait to come back to try other flavors. Another cool feature at this shop is that every ice cream flavor is noted if it has gluten and/or nuts which is helpful for those with allergies.

It did not disappoint! You can either go inside the house or order from the outside window, we stayed outside and loved it. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, and the whole setup feels like you're hanging out in someone's backyard. Super cute and laid-back, with extras like cornhole and photo areas that make it even more fun. There were so many options to choose from, but we landed on: 2 root beer floats, Ice cream nachos with cookie dough and caramel collision (so good!), 1 scoop of playdough ice cream. Everything was tasty, and the staff was friendly and patient while we made our picks. It was the perfect treat after a sunny day. The only downside and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that we had a coupon but weren't allowed to use it or even apply the value toward our purchase. A little disappointing, especially since it was our first visit. That said, Mabel's has so much charm, and I'd love to come back to try the coffee next time. Definitely a spot worth visiting!

Call me a soft serve snob because well, I am. It just hits different. Cup and cone? It just hits different. Rich, creamy, milky, grade A soft serve. Melted like crazy under the dip but still fire and I'd do it again. Haven't tried their food but it always smells good. Should you give any and all the above a shot? Absolutely. Drive across town at rush hour hating your life in traffic? Worth it. The location? Small lot, street parking options, the cutest little stand you could ask for with a few benches to the side. I love it. Spring and summer will eventually be here, do yourself a favor and go treat yourself at cup and cone.

While the root beer flavor wasn't as bold as I expected (I was left wanting a little more of that punch), it was still a good and refreshing treat. Right after paying, I noticed it was Salted Caramel weekend. Couldn't resist adding a kiddy cone just for a taste, and I'm so glad I did. That flavor was amazingly refreshing--the perfect balance of sweet and salty. So far, I haven't tried anything here that I didn't enjoy. It's always a solid stop when I'm in the area. I also really appreciate their portion sizes (just right) and the fact that they offer a cash discount--a nice little perk you don't see often these days. Definitely looking forward to my next visit.
