However, the abandoned- looking aspect of this park is what appeals to me. You will see many locals visiting to do prom, wedding, and cosplay photoshoots at this park. My favorite part is the beautiful pond and the haunted Japanese garden in the back of the park. It is a little difficult to find this garden, but it is hauntingly gorgeous.

What a beautiful park with something for everyone. The park is on 154 acres, handicap accessible and has multiple playground areas, seven baseball fields, volleyball court, 4 tennis courts, basketball courts, skate parks, a multi purpose field, plenty of covered seating areas, pavilions, picnic area, beautiful paved walking trail and clean restrooms. I really like that one of the play areas is covered with colorful awnings offering sun protection for the kids. Parking is plentiful. The Bay Creek Police Station is located directly next to the park.

The sites are well maintained and there are plenty of sites that accommodate our 43 foot camper. There are some premium sites that pull through. Just exercise caution with some of those because you could see where some campers dragged trying to get into those. The bath houses are very clean and modern. They also have 20 cabins you can rent. A fair number have been remodeled and those are really nice. We had a great time and are already planning our next trip.

Do not walk barefoot in the sand unless you enjoy getting your feet sliced up and a bank breaking hospital bill. I had rubber flip flops on the whole time and told my family to wear theirs. Then, the whole beach area isn't open?? They cordoned off most of the water area, except for one sandbar and maybe 75 feet of water across from the entry sand area to the back area on the other side which narrowed to like 40 feet. The exposed sandbar which you were allowed to walk on had what looked like goose droppings all over it. There is very little space to play or wade without bumping into someone with it being cordoned off, and the section of water that is open just looks like a big bowl of muddy water because the cordoned off area is far away from the waterfall and streams that it doesn't get as much movement aside from people. Between the droppings all over the sandbar, broken glass, close proximity of multiple people in that tiny area, it's just asking for a visit to the hospital due to some infection. You do have to pay a fee per person and idk where that money goes, needs more maintenance. It's a shame, the beach area has potential. We will not be going back.

I feel like it has something for everyone. There are steeper trails to challenge yourself and plenty of flat , paved paths for all who might have balance issues or just want to take a smooth stroll. There is so much to check out, I have not been around the entire park on foot yet. I just recently discovered the back end where it turns into the Harris Greenway Trail. The park is a great place for a picnic at one of the many pavilions, fishing or kayaking on the lake, biking, playing outdoor games with plenty of areas to spread out, etc. and the facilities are always clean when I've been here (pavilions and bathrooms). It's just an overall, great tranquil park. You can even bring your horses here, if you have them. Highly recommend this park if you haven't been yet.

This would have been a cute picturesque spot for our engagement shoot but the trees overhead provided too much shade for an early evening shoot. The Rose Garden was unique with its white columns and statues. It wasn't an expansive garden, but it was nice as it was situated in a sunlit area. The park also had a miniature railroad track along with its own town. It looked like toys for the children to interact with. There was a fence around the area so I guess it's only open during certain times. The children's maze seemed fun and interesting... I am unsure of its depth though as we only took a peek inside. The hedge was about 5 feet tall as I could sort of peek over the hedge. There seemed to be another area that might have had walking trails other than just the immediate areas as you enter the park grounds. Plenty of parking to be found as this isn't a popular park. It's clean and nice for sure! There was plenty of nooks and crannies to explore though.

I remember my first visit to the park many, many years ago. The lovely lake and bridges, pavilions, themed botanical gardens, the statues throughout the park, the paved walking trails and the entertaining Vines Garden miniature railroad which has over 1,000 feet of track and runs through a little train town. Although all those things still exist, the park is no longer well manicured and has lost some of the natural beauty I remember it once held. There is a lot of overgrowth of the bushes and trees and the weeds are taking over. It is still a nice and serene little park to visit with very few visitors, but no longer one that I'd make a trip to enjoy its beauty.

So I can see it would be better for 2+ since you could sit on a bench and watch from there. There are no restrooms directly on site and are located within City Hall and only when they are open for business. There are three different areas. There is a swing set that has a few "bucket" swings for those that can't swing themselves and a few regular swings. There are then two other similar play areas: one that is obviously built for 2-3 year olds and one that is built for 4-5 year olds. All in all a good time.
