Well in the burbs of Tahoe City is the Lake Forest Beach. It's located away from the inner town core. Less hub bub and tourists. I say "less" because this place is still pretty active in the summer. Beautiful place to catch the sunrise and sunset. The swath of shoreline to the right side is along a meadow. In the springtime, there are beautiful wildflowers. The shoreline to the right is more sandy beachy, near the boat launch. As you meander to the left... the beach gives way from sand to gravel. Perfect place to teach someone whoever to skip a rock. Every time I skip a rock, it puts a smile to my face. Simple pleasures if life. Regarding the dog situation, some say only dogs are allowed on the right side. Hmmm...I've seen unleashed dogs all over. Regarding the amenities: There are portapotties. They have some picnic tables with bbqs. Parking is limited. Both sides of the beach have makeshift gravel parking spaces. Be cautious if you drive a large vehicle; be aware of the dead end roads. It's a bit of a tight 3+ turn to maneuver back.

We were driving around this past weekend looking for a place to kayak. Of course, it's July fourth weekend, one of the busiest weekends for Lake Tahoe. We weren't having much luck but stumbled across this place! It was so quiet and quaint, and had a lot of available parking. They had a portable toilet area to use which was nice. They had a loading area to put your kayak in the water which made it really nice. A lot of families here enjoying the weather and lake. We will be returning in the future!

Small beach closer to Tahoe City. Can't really call it a beach. But it's a good place to spent some quality time. Lots of picnic tables. The panoramic view is just stunning with the mountains capped with snow. I'm sure, it might look even beautiful during winter time. Not so easy to spot this place. No real parking spots, but you can find some by the road side. We spent an hour there enjoying the stunning view and cool breeze. Kids had a great time playing there as well.

This is a breathtaking beach, especially in winter. Quiet, tucked far away from main roads and dog friendly (on leash). Plenty of picnic tables and views every way you look.

These beauties pop up during wildflower season. They are at their peak right about now, middle of June.

If you've ever seen one of those iconic Tahoe photos of a field of bright purple lupines lining the shores of the lake, this is one of spots that you can get only at spring time. Very limited parking, but great if you can come early, snag a picnic spot with a grill pit and a picnic table. FREE! Portapotties are here but I did not check them out. If you stay to the left where there is a bit of a rocky beach and the picnic spots, dogs are NOT allowed. To the right, there is a cove and a smaller beach and a few trails - dogs ARE allowed (there are clearly dog mitts available to pick up after your dog). Come at sunset and get your iconic lupine shot!

Came here in August and it's beautiful. Very peaceful and secluded. Great place to get away.
