I had a leak from the filter pump and removed the pump and motor from the pump housing. That was Saturday afternoon. I went to a different pool supply store. The attendant there showed no interest in my problem and without even looking, said he did not have any parts that would help. On Monday, I went to Lake Forest Spa and Pool and spoke with the owner, Jack. He took the time to listen then explained how to repair the problem and what I would need to do so. I asked him if I brought the motor to him would he be able to make the repair. He said, Yes and gave me a very reasonable quote. I returned an hour later and left the equipment with him. Two hours later he had it repaired, and charged me less than he originally quoted. I reinstalled the pump and motor and everything worked great...and no leak. Thank you Jack. read more

He came out and at much trouble took my 20 yr old pool heater apart and just when I thought it was a lost cause he found the frayed wire to my temperature probe that was preventing my heater from firing up !!! We hired Lake Forest Pool Supply (LFPS) to re-plumb/relocate the gas and water pipes for our pool equipment, during a home remodel/addition in early 2013. Our pool equipment was to be relocated about 12 feet away from the current location to make way for our home addition. LFPS was to dig a trench and make the appropriate underground extension lines to the new equipment area. This way the equipment could be re-connected one day, after the addition was done. The job didn't call to reconnect the equipment, just to extend/re-plumb the pool light lines, the heater's gas and pump/filter water lines. The cost seemed high ($4,000) given the scope of work, but I figured it was worth it since LFPS was to leave the system under pressure, and ready to be easily reconnected at a future date. About six months after the remodel was done (early Summer of 2014), we hired a 35 yr veteran pool contractor company, to reconnect all the pool equipment. We were surprised to find several issues with the lines LFPS had installed. Two of the water lines were leaking. The pool light lines had been improperly extended and not grounded, which is a huge safety issue. In addition, the gas line was never left under pressure and was leaking as well. All the lines had to be dug up to troubleshoot. When the gas line was dug up, we found that LFPS had used PVC couplings to connect it instead of a proper heat bonding method. The leaking water lines had also been improperly joined, which was causing the leaks. And the pool light lines had been extended using PVC, instead of copper lines. PVC would have been ok if properly grounded, but no ground line was used. I spoke with Jack (owner of the company) about the situation last week. He was very apologetic about the way the job had been run and he thanked me for the feedback. However, I feel that we paid for a service that was not done correctly or as promised. I feel things might have been installed properly, if Jack had spent a little more time supervising the job. So we had to incur quite a bit of additional costs to fix the two leaking water lines, the pool light lines and to replace the improperly installed gas line. In case you're wondering, I was there in person, when all the lines were dug up. So I saw all the issues first hand. So why the 1 star? I guess I feel that Jack could have done more than offer me an apology. Perhaps a few months of complementary pool service or something... LFPS may be a good server, but take caution at hiring them for anything else. read more

After interviewing and receiving quotes from a few pool companies, we went with Lake Forest Pool and Spa. It's a local, family run business and you really feel the personal service rather than a big corporate/commercial feel. Out pool was in dire need of repair/upgrades but we had a strict budget. Tammie came out, measured, gave us solid ideas for upgrades that were within our budget and provided a fair estimate within a couple days. The crews that demolished, repaired, tiled were exceptionally polite, professional and hard working. They all worked solid 8-9 hour days! They cleaned up every day after work and treated our property and our neighbors' properties with respect. Jack came everyday for a few days after we refilled the pool to check on it and do the post fill cleaning and chemical adjustments. Outstanding customer service, response times, and quality of work. I can't say enough good things about Jack, Tammie and their crews. Our pool looks amazing! Highly recommend. read more

WARNING: do NOT use this business! They are dishonest and unreliable. I used this business for a few years (far too long) and would have to put a pebble in the filter to ensure they came every week as agreed. In my opinion, you should be able to trust the professionals coming to your home and not have to check to make sure they're actually doing their job. We finally just discontinued our services with them and notified them mid-April that we would like them to finish the month. They have not shown since. I had my new pool guy come today and he told me there were quite a few issues and that the pool has been neglected for WEEKS (mind you, their last day was supposed to be last week). The following issues include: - leaf trap full - cleaner was clogged - surface was dirty - cell dirty: salt system flashing red lights - pool cleaner clogged and not moving freely - alkalinity low at 70ppm (should be 80-120ppm) - pH was too high I called Jack and spoke to him about this. I said that I would pay for half of the month because his services weren't rendered for the other half of the month. When I started telling him the list of problems, he interrupted me saying, "you realize there was a huge wind storm in Coto right" in a very derogatory tone of voice. I then continued my long list and then he hung up. I called back and he said that he's been doing this for 30 years and his daughter is a lawyer and he will put a lean on my house... and then he hung up on me again. By far the WORST customer service I have ever received and he has earned himself a horrible reputation within our community. Do yourself a favor and find someone else. read more

RIPOFF COMPANY! Do not use! Jack the owner told me and my wife to go f___k ourselves. We spent $14,000 with him. He misrepresented his work. He told us his plaster guy was his own guy, not an 3rd for hire guy. We asked that while the plaster was curing if they should cover the pool because of the moister from the marine layer (we live close to the beach), they said no worries, we do this all the time. Well, there was moisture drip marks all along the side of the pool. When I showed Jack, he said he would fix it but it would take a year to let the pool cure! A year later he came back to tell me that he had talked to the plaster guy, Wait, the plaster guy? I thought he was your guy. Nope and that they would each put up $800 and I to put up $800 to fix THEIR MISTAKE. When I said no Jack said "too bad and go f__k yourself!" Great customer service. When they were laying the plaster it was damp out. I ask him if the moister in the air would affect the curing. He said "no, we do this all the time." He didn't care just wanted his $65 service call fee and didn't seem to want to work at all for it. I found them through a website called Service Magic and Phil came out and cleaned, serviced and changed my spa filter. He was nice, honest and knowledgable. I've been dealing with this company for the past 6 months and am totally satisfied with all apsects of the service I have recieved from them. You get the kind of friendly dedicated service from them that only really comes from a family owned and run business. Jack will spend as much time as you need answering questions and giving advice. If you are willing to learn Jack will help you to fix issues yourself rather than try to charge you a call out and service fee. That being said if the job is one requiring a professional, Jack will do a thorough job at a fair price. Wow. This company is a joke. I was referred to them by fidelity home warranty insurance to get my spa repaired. Guy decided to show up at my place unannounced without calling if I would be available at that time and claim that he can't fix it because he doesn't have access to the pump. It's an above jacuzzi spa and It's just 8 screws that you just need loosen to remove a panel! If I knew it would be a problem for them, then I would have Unscrewed them. But since you came unannounced and state that no one was home, when I was actually in the office part of my house. You can't ring the bell or call me!?! On top of that, I left messages with your rude assistant trying to tell me that he called. I left two messages with her and still no returned call. How is it that my clients can get a hold of me all week and this company can't? Anyway, if you plan to do business with this company, I would go elsewhere and save yourself the headache. read more

I had Lake Forest remove cracks in my pool and install new plaster, tile, pavers and equipment. In a nut shell, Tammi would only agree to get all monies before any project was started. It was a mistake on my part to let her do that. They had my money and refused to correct problens. Jack was supposed to oversee the construction but was rarely there. He said he would fix things which I had to point out like leaks caused by cracks in the spa PVC piping. I asked how his workers had fixed these leaks but he did not know. (I still have leaks.) Overall I would grade them 1/5 for Tammi and 2/5 for Jack. They are nice people but I cannot recommend them. read more

I went in to get water tested. The lady was extremely rude!! I tried them 17 years ago and they said I needed new equipment. I 'm thankful I didn't take them up on it as my equipment is still running strong. I had never taken care of a pool in my ENTIRE life and all of the sudden I was faced with the challenge. The people at pool and spa supply have been my life saver!! I had about a million questions and they answered each and every one of them! I swear I was there on a weekly basis for a while and they were always willing to help me with a big smile on the face. During Christmas when we had the big storms, we had a mudslide into our pool. After cleaning it all out the vent switch broke on the pool. They are also very honest people! They don't try to rip you off in any sense, if even they always help you save money on pool supplies! read more

I was very pleased with the work Lake Forest Pool did for us. A concrete corner of our pool fell off and I was not able to find anyone willing to repair it. Lake Forest came out! Not only did they complete the work but they did it in a timely manner. The work was very reasonably priced as well. We fired Lake Forest Pool and Spa today, not due to questionable capability of Javier, our pool cleaner, but the incredibly horrific service from Jack, the owner. I waited for Javier to arrive to explain again that he needed to brush the rocks so that algae didn't continue to form on the water line however and he didn't come on his usual day. I kept looking for him as I worked in my home office that overlooks the pool. I also noticed that there was a dog toy on the spa overspill area that would have been removed if he had been there. The dog toy was still there at the end of the day so I knew he had not been there. Jack said he would send him out the next day. When no one arrived, I called again and Jack said Javier told him he was there and he believed him. Jack backs his worker which is a commendable trait for an employer, however, he does it at the expense of his customer. Not so commendable. You would think that he would just say that there must have been a miscommunication and we'll have him come out. The problem would have been solved and he would have kept a customer. By the way, the dogs would have let me know if someone was in my backyard as they did each week when someone from Lake Forest Pool did show up! read more

I moved to a new house that has an above ground spa, which didn't work. The good reviews made me call here. Jack was great! He fixed the motor instead of having me pay more for a new one, then taught me how to take care of the spa myself. I now buy the supplies from them even though other places are closer because I know I'll be treated well and get honest help. Can't ask for more! read more

Jack and his folks have done an outstanding job for us over the last 3+ years, from installing a new pool heater and pump to the regular maintenance that we have them do a couple times a year. Their prices are very reasonable and they are always willing to help out. When you get good service, you want tell others so it helps a good company to prosper. I have never bothered to write a review in my life. I leave it to KARMA, but this one merits a review. I asked to receive a call before someone comes over. They came unannounced. Freaked my 12 year old out that was home a lone as I did not tell her anyone was coming..and no one should have. They fixed the issue but apparently caused another one. I had to call and email multiple times. They issue was never addressed or fixed. Multiple invoices came and I ignored them waiting for a result ion to the secondary issue. They completely ignored me and disregarded my inquiries... Then they threatened to throw a lien on my house for all for a $45 bill Jack seemed to be a nice guy and we had used him a few times in the past without issue. Something changed. Completely out of character. Complete lack of integrity, ethics and character. I absolutely do not recommend them. I was shocked to read the other poor reviews, but I now understand how they earned them. I now know to use Yelp more often!!! read more
