We went here with and on a recommendation of a friend. She told us the food was great and strictly fried foods, though neither of which seemed quite accurate to me. The view and seating are wonderful. You are sitting outside yet still under cover in case of rain. Service seemed a bit slow, so is not a place to go on your lunch break, but we are all retired and quite willing to sit through the wait and chat while enjoying the view. I only mention it in case speed is important for you. The others all had fish while I opted for a sausage sandwich. It was fine, though I can make one on the grill a bit more to my liking. The fries were not hot and a bit thinner than I like them. They had salt and pepper on them, which tasted fine to me but might not be to everyone's precise taste. The sandwiches and entrees come with a small portion of Cole slaw, which was also fine. Our friend said she takes out of state friends there because it seems to fit their image of Florida, even including the possibility of a gator sighting. We lived here for around ten years so that doesn't quite describe us, but we were glad to spend our lunch with her there.

What a lovely spot! We rode as a group to this spot and felt very welcome as bikers, which isn't always the case. Our server Cynthia was friendly, funny and eager to please. We had the peel and eat shrimp with Cajun seasoning.. it was good, but seemed to lack flavor. We also tried some hush puppies which were ok. The location is so beautiful surrounded by big cypress trees with Spanish oak draping down and the sound of the lake lapping against the docks. There are lots of picnic tables whether under the trees or on the patio, so plenty of seating. There is a bar in the outside corner with a little bit of additional seating and an indoor bar as well. The singer performing while we visited was Rob Nichols who did an amazing job. Bring your dancing shoes as well. Boats can pull up and tie off on one of two decks that reach out into the water. This place is unique and worth the visit.

Awesome food! Service was pretty good as well. My suggestion would be : if you were there for the music, do not sit so close. Everything was wonderful!

First off: the good stuff. What a wonderful location. It's right on the water. The views are fantastic, including a baby alligator. Our server was efficient and the food was tasty, except my wife reports her pulled pork sandwich was dry. I liked my grouper sandwich but I am spoiled. After eating Frenchy's in Dunedin for years, this just didn't match up. I'm also finding, food at a restaurant is getting mighty expensive. It's costly to eat out. I guess I'm expecting the quality to go up too. Alas, nope.

I have returned to the Hideaway many times since my last review and have enjoyed every visit. The music is excellent...drinks are made well and the staff is awesome. Food is ok...it comes out of the kitchen hot and the prices are reasonable.

I was visiting a friend and she took me here for lunch. We ended up staying for 4 hours The atmosphere, food, service and music were really great! Food... we both had a burger and fries. I would recommend the sweet potato fries... o m g ! The vibe... the entire place just seemed like one big family, like everyone knew each other, it was awesome! The service ... our waitress was very attentive to anything we needed and extremely friendly

They come by boat, bike and even car for the live music, great atmosphere, good food and real people. The menu is local bar food including fried shrimp or gator, burgers and wings. This popular bar is a good time waiting for you. Bring your friends and make some new ones. Driving back to Georgia after a visit to the mouse and wanting to limit our exposure to the I-4…read moretraffic, we drove through the charming town of Mount Dora. There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

Our first time here as we live 60 miles away…read more Puddle jumpers has a very nice menu to choose from and in today's case we had the fried mahi finger bites, which were very good. They were tender. They appeared to be fresh and they were not overly breaded. We also had their onion rings which we found to be very delicious as well. You could actually bite into them and not have the onion come pulling out, which was a plus and once again, not heavily breaded, but a good taste to the breading they did use. We also tried their fresh pork rinds, and they were excellent if this is your type of food we've only been to a couple places that actually know how to properly make them and puddle jumpers is one of them. The other place was in North Carolina, which went out of business and then one in South Carolina near Charleston, which was a barbecue joint. Our guest had other items as they come here on a regular basis and I know they all enjoyed their food, but I didn't ask to get information for this posting As for ambience, it was a very nice place. Stand at it set alongside the lake with of course the sea planes out front although we didn't see any land we did see some. All the staff was friendly, and our server was Bianca T who all I can say is she was very good and I stayed on top of our table I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about the place other than the ink pen ran out of ink when it came to signing the bill lol

The drinks were priced great and the soup and burgers were so good! But I went 01/10/2026 at 230pm (busy rush for a pub on a Saturday) and I ordered a burger and soup because they have a soup of the day each day, who doesn't love that. Well my soup came out quick and I was pleased with that, it was chicken orzo soup, so good! Well I start getting to the soup and thought oh wow they put cheese in here, didn't tell me it would have cheese and I'm rubbing it around in my mouth cause I like to taste my food you know? Well it wasn't cheese...... IT WAS SOMEONES CHEWED MINTY GUM IN MY MOUTH STUCK IN MY TEETH I got sick (in a napkin of course) and informed my server, ran to the bathroom some more getting sick and when I came back my server informed me I wouldn't pay for anything, I made a comment that maybe the dishwasher didn't do a good job but the server told me he wish that was the case that it was intended for an employee on break and he thought it was mine in the window and it wasn't, he apologized, well I took a couple shots of whiskey to kill the bacteria hopefully. I asked for a manger to come talk to me because I work in the food industry and I don't feel it was handled correctly, he informed me the manger was not there he had to text her to get the approval for the bill. So I was definitely taken back. I have never had anything like this happen to me and the two girls I was with also tasted the soup because I said it didn't taste right and they was literally given a bill for their 15$ burgers and I got a 10% card to hopefully come back. I have called twice to talk to a manger and have not gotten through to anyone, I've seen messages online to suspected owners and still nothing back, I was told the guy with the gauges in the kitchen is the one that did it, I woken up with a sore throat today and will be going to get tested and they will be informed of my medical bills by a lawyer. PS my friend ordered a burger Togo a few hours later for her aunt I went in to get the burger and pay with my 10% card and the short haired short server with glasses was seen laughing at the computer about the situation, I just don't think it was funny at all.
