Let's get to it. Portions are tiny and overpriced. Everything is frozen. They wanted to up charge $4.50 for frozen onion rings. We had no drinks and it was $75 for 3. Location docking by the water would have been nice. May be a good place for a drink but would not eat again. It was a favorite of someone who took us there but said it had changed. We went here with and on a recommendation of a friend. She told us the food was great and strictly fried foods, though neither of which seemed quite accurate to me. The view and seating are wonderful. You are sitting outside yet still under cover in case of rain. Service seemed a bit slow, so is not a place to go on your lunch break, but we are all retired and quite willing to sit through the wait and chat while enjoying the view. I only mention it in case speed is important for you. The others all had fish while I opted for a sausage sandwich. It was fine, though I can make one on the grill a bit more to my liking. The fries were not hot and a bit thinner than I like them. They had salt and pepper on them, which tasted fine to me but might not be to everyone's precise taste. The sandwiches and entrees come with a small portion of Cole slaw, which was also fine. Our friend said she takes out of state friends there because it seems to fit their image of Florida, even including the possibility of a gator sighting. What a lovely spot! We rode as a group to this spot and felt very welcome as bikers, which isn't always the case. Our server Cynthia was friendly, funny and eager to please. We had the peel and eat shrimp with Cajun seasoning.. it was good, but seemed to lack flavor. We also tried some hush puppies which were ok. The location is so beautiful surrounded by big cypress trees with Spanish oak draping down and the sound of the lake lapping against the docks. There are lots of picnic tables whether under the trees or on the patio, so plenty of seating. There is a bar in the outside corner with a little bit of additional seating and an indoor bar as well. The singer performing while we visited was Rob Nichols who did an amazing job. Bring your dancing shoes as well. Boats can pull up and tie off on one of two decks that reach out into the water. Waitress states she's working two jobs, not sure which she does well, because her village called, they are missing her. Ordered peel-n-eat shrimp for appetizers, entrees came out and oops, we saw them, then they went inside and sat until cold. Shrimp came out, thirty seconds later the "cold" entrees came out. One sent back, we cancelled. Figure out your area, do a good job, don't blame others. Won't be back. read more

First off: the good stuff. What a wonderful location. It's right on the water. The views are fantastic, including a baby alligator. Our server was efficient and the food was tasty, except my wife reports her pulled pork sandwich was dry. I liked my grouper sandwich but I am spoiled. After eating Frenchy's in Dunedin for years, this just didn't match up. I'm also finding, food at a restaurant is getting mighty expensive. It's costly to eat out. I recently had a business lunch here, we found the place nearly empty so we figured having lunch would be quick and easy - the bartender met us upon entering and we chose our seat, she also would be our server. I was put off a little that the service was a little slow from the start since the restaurant was nearly empty - we waited to get menus, to order our drinks and then waited quite a spell before she returned to take our food order. The restaurant was very clean, neat, organized and the setting on the edge of the lake was beautiful. I chose the pulled pork sandwich by another name and coleslaw - oops I got fries and of course they had to be my least favorite cut of fries, the wait for our food was extreme especially with only two other tables in the place occupied and if my memory serves me right they were drinking only. The pork was pretty good but the bun and bbq sauce were just okay (we aren't going to mention the fries again). Just an opinion - I think this a much better place to drink than eat, the atmosphere besides being a "Steelers" bar promotes this feeling (sorry not a fan). The open area restaurant with easy entry whether you come by land or water, well I guess with the number of seaplanes in the area you could include by air as well which makes this a great gathering place for the locals. There's a nice RV Park just up the road within walking distance so I'm sure this could almost be considered an amenity for them. A nice place on Lake Harris. We docked our boat shortly before noon and walked in. We were greeted right away and told to sit anywhere we'd like. There is a menu on every table, so we didn't need to wait to begin browsing the menu. Our waitress greeted us shortly after our sitting down and service was quick and friendly. The kids burgers were good. I got BBQ wings (traditional) and those were good, not over cooked and plenty of sauce. My husband got the grouper basket, grilled, with fries. The grouper was cooked properly. Most of the seating at Lake Harris Hideaway is outside. It is a small patio overlooking Lake Harris and I am very glad we tried this restaurant. My friend's fish was undercook we send it back and order some chicken and 20min later we are still waiting. This is a biker bar right in lake harris! We like stopping here with the boat on weekends to enjoy the live music. It's a fun atmosphere and the bands are fantastic! The food is typical bar food, nothing to write home about, service has always been good here! The Hideaway is much more about the experience than the food. The food is classic bar food... burgers, sandwiches, wings etc. I've enjoyed my stop ins here every time over the past year. After many visits by boat, we finally decided to drive here! Vehicle parking is plentiful across the street while bike/motorcycle parking is on sight. We've brought our well behaved dogs a couple of times as well and they're always well received by servers and diners alike. The live music is always a treat for us! I'm a fan of Rob Nichols if you're of the Country music genre. He's a local favorite and we certainly make a point to listen to him wherever he is playing, but The Hideaway is our favorite because it's where we discovered him. The remodel of the actual brick and mortar bar inside has the WOW factor... gorgeous restrooms to boot. You're in for a treat if you're fussy about restrooms like I am. Well maintained and new in 2019. So if you're considering a visit here by boat, come early. The boat slips fill up quickly! I would bring out-of-towners here because this view gives a typical lake side view. Just pray for some breeze. Food.....5 stars! I had a tuna melt and it was great. Rye bread was crunchy from the flat top. Hisband has a burger and really enjoyed it. Also had the gator bites. Very good with a dipping sauce. Service....3 Stars. Very unsatisfied. Poor quality food for a premium price. We were visiting the area and decided to try out this restaurant. I should have known there was a problem with this place there were only two other families at dinner time in this huge restaurant. The food prices are a joke. One of our friends at our table got the fried bologna sandwich. What a joke, three very thin slices of cheap bologna on cheap white sandwich bread, a small container of room temperature coleslaw (scared to eat ) for $9. When you walk in there is a sign "if there is a bug in your food it's not our fault you are sitting outside". The only positive thing was our server, she was great. January 2022 - Went here for dinner on a Sunday evening around 6 pm. Three of us ordered burgers, a patty melt and a grouper sandwich. The food came within 15 minutes. First time here, friendly and fast service. Good sandwich, average size. Side of fries are extra, not that great. We did come while they're having a transitional menu while they expand. So I believe the menu was limited. The menu says the sandwiches come with coleslaw. We got chips. We didn't receive any slaw so we asked our server and she said we'd get either or. The menu didn't say that and she didn't ask us our preference, though she did say she'd get us some. They have buckets to hold the condiments and they're pretty dirty. Oh well, it's outside.
