Good food, but the best part is the ambiance! Sitting on the water with sunset views is magical! We always come by boat and we have always found an available dock. They do get busy sometimes, but the wait staff is friendly and they do their best. My favorites are the fried fish and fried chicken. Optional salad for fries is appreciated but the fries are great if you ask for them "well done". The plating is very attractive. The prices on the menu keep creeping up each year,but the quality is consistent. This is our "go to" place when we have guests. Reservations are recommended. read more

Skin on wings was still rubbery (could have used another minute in the fryer to get crisp), grilled summer vegetable sandwich was served ice cold (even the focaccia!!), nachos were exactly as described...meh. Chips were not warmed, ground beef was colder, guacamole from a can. All food came within minutes of each other...no chance to enjoy appetizers before entrees arrived. It's all about the atmosphere here! Magnificent view. Right on the water. Boats pull up and park and their boat is assisted by staff. We had a perfect night. Food was very good. I am gluten free/dairy free and mostly vegetarian. I did find a dish with tofu and vegetables which was very good. There are also salads and a pasta dish(I don't think the pasta was gf). I had hoped for more options for myself but was satisfied with what I ordered. My husband loved his chicken dish. Staff was very nice and accommodating/helpful when needed. Prices charged didn't match menu and when I called they gave me the difference but not taxes charged on the overcharge plus we tipped on the over charge. 3 people - black bean burger, chicken sandwhich and laughably small rice bowl plus Diet Coke and 1 beer - $111 with tip. Insane and not good. Coleslaw tasted like cabbage and mayo no spice no vinegar. Wouldn't reccomend. Come for a drink and appetizer it's a charming dock and water view but over priced, small portions and food is just ok. read more

Dinner on Saturday evening August 16,2025 Ordered the Thanksgiving Turkey Wrap. Reading the menu couldn't wait to try it. Well....... Stale wrap, deli sliced turkey, lettuce, grape tomatoes cut in half and mayo with about 12 fries ( $22.) Daughter ordered the Rice Bowl. 1 tablespoon of rice ( wish I had taken a picture) 3 asparagus, 1/2 chicken breast & couple greens in the bottom of a bowl ($30.) Very disappointed! We've been vacationing at this lake every summer for the past 25 years, and part of our tradition has always been enjoying a nice dinner at The Lakehouse. Unfortunately, after tonight's experience, we will never return. We arrived on a quiet, rainy Thursday evening -- there was only one other table seated, and no one was dining outside. Our party included myself, my husband (a respected federal police officer), our two children, and their grandparents. We were promptly seated and politely placed our drink and appetizer orders with the server. Only minutes later, a manager named Alex approached our table. Without any context or reason, he began questioning who would be driving. He then blatantly accused my husband -- who had not had a single drink all day -- of drinking. When my father calmly explained he would be the one driving, I expressed how shocked and offended I was by the accusation. Instead of deescalating the situation, Alex told us, "If you don't like it, leave." We were stunned. His tone was condescending, his facial expression was hostile, and his approach lacked any professionalism or common courtesy. To make such accusations in front of our children was not only inappropriate -- it was downright insulting. There was nothing rowdy or disrespectful about our group. For a nearly empty restaurant, it's beyond belief that a manager would treat guests this way. It's a shame to see such poor management at a place that once held special memories for our family. Alex's behavior was unacceptable and completely out of line. This experience has left us hurt and disappointed -- and a long-standing tradition has come to a very unfortunate end. read more

The brownie a la more for dessert fell short - especially for $18. Like I said, it was my birthday, so I splurged, but the brownie was lacking a rich chocolate flavor and was dry. I wish I could give this place three and a half stars. It's a beautiful location and super pretty. The food is definitely good but it's pricey and you don't get very much at all it was laughable even. We got lobster Mac and the deckhand burger they were both super good! And then delicious Calimari. But the service wasn't great, it got better as the meal went on and they weren't even very busy. Everyone was nice however. Once again, super cute place but the prices are too high for the amount you get. I would probably go again but only after payday. read more

Amazing staff, ambiance, and food! We had dinner at the Lake House last night and we had a phenomenal time. The only negative was a woman at a table near us causing a scene and being disrespectful to the manager. From what we overheard, the manager was trying to make sure there was a sober driver. I always have low expectations for waterfront restaurants - usually you're just paying for atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised by the Lake House. Our server was awesome, very friendly and attentive and in general the staff seemed happy which is always nice to see. It was great to have nice (though small and expensive) nonalcoholic options for drinks and our food was mostly excellent. As a vegetarian allergic to gluten there weren't many options for me but the rest of my family was very happy (they ate steaks, calamari, scallops). Bonus points for how sweet they were with our dog, bringing her ice water and treats as though she was a guest. The live music was fun and just the right volume. In terms of improvements - in addition to needing more vegetarian/gf options - we needed more effective shade for the tables on the deck (it was blazing hot at 6:30), and the loaded nachos had about a tablespoon of beans and mass-made guac in a plastic ramiken - really chintzy for such an expensive restaurant. Overall a wonderful experience, was a highlight of our weekend. We'd definitely go back! read more

We have eaten here at least once a summer for the last 16 years. It's definitely a great location right by the water, but the food has usually been just ok and expensive for the quality. Tonight we ate here and it was AMAZING! High quality, well prepared and delicious. Yes, a bit expensive but worth it. I got the diver scallop appetizer (22.00)Three large, sweet perfectly cooked scallops with bacon jam. Highly recommend! Then I had a Caesar salad with steak. It was a large salad with a good portion of well seasoned , tender steak (28.00) The lettuce was crispy and cold with a very good dressing. We were told that the kitchen has had updates and the chef has been newly hired. The chef is definitely doing an amazing job. The service was excellent as well. Can't wait to eat here again. (The only downside was that the live music was cancelled, but the food, view and service more than made up for it!) read more

We vacationed in a nice house on Beebe Pond about 5 miles both of the Lake House Pub and Grille and were looking for a nice restaurant for my wife's birthday. After a Yelp search, we decided on this restaurant on Bomoseen Lake. We were sort of expecting a burger and fries type of place, but were pleasantly surprised by much more. Due to weather-rain- we sat inside. Had calamari as shared appetizer - very good. Dinner was salmon for me and lobster roll for my wife. Both were awesome. Dessert was a maple ice cream thing with toasted coconut. Delish! We were so impressed that we immediately made reservations for later in the week Dinner the second time started with calamari again followed by baby back ribs for me, tuna tacos for my wife. The ribs were very good, tuna tacos were amazing. Seared one side, very rare on the other. No way to describe except -Wow!!! Same dessert as before This is a must go to restaurant! read more

Come for the drinks and the views. Eat somewhere else. Service was good. Aside from significantly overpriced menu items, you may experience (as we did) marijuana smoke drifting down the stairs into the deck eating area from the employee who smokes weed on his breaks. I know it is legal, but certainly not appetizing. Having stoned employees certainly would explain the completely charred burger for $20. (Manager did credit the item on the bill after mentioning). Also beware of additional items added to your bill. Most likely not intentional, but just careless. This happened more than once here. I don't mind paying high prices for good food, but the food at Lakeside was unappealing to both the eye and palate. read more

Used to love this restaurant before they changed. We went back this season (2024) they took the stir fry off the menu and replaced it with an Asian rice bowl which was horrendous and for 30 dollars not worth it at all. The rice was horrible the dish was confusing, the rice with the tacos (the tacos were also just not great and the ingredients were lacking) was also horrible. The $44 steak and potatoes lacked basic seasonings like salt. The chicken was also under seasoned. The nachos were also lacking and giving very much store bought. The deserts were okay but we were told as we entered they would be amazing but they were at most average (did like the homemade whip cream though). The drinks to be fair were very good and the service was amazing our server was wonderful and very sweet she definitely cared about all her tables (felt bad she had to go down all those stairs though). The chef they now have clearly doesn't understand how to prepare basic things or use basic seasonings. The price was definitely not worth it ($340 for 4 people) we are now very much regretting our choice and wishing we had saved the money or at least sent something back so we wouldn't have to pay almost $400 for bad food. The restaurant itself is lovely and next to the water I would recommend this place for a drink and the view but NOT the food. Hopefully it gets better and this is just a learning curve, we will return to see if they have improved at the end of the season. read more

Hot sunny day, we ate on the deck - I had to move my seat halfway through to stay under the umbrella as the heat was intense. I felt terrible for the waitstaff who had no shade at the hosting station where they gathered, and were running up and down stairs the whole time. If management is listening - please put an awning over them! (It'll keep your ice water longer too). Speaking of the waitstaff, it's clear the owner has a "type" - all thin white, high school aged girls in ponytails. They were attentive, friendly and professional, even though they were melting in the heat. The food was good, almost too hot to eat, (We had the brussels sprouts app, black bean burger and lobster roll--which wasn't hot, of course.) We got surprised at the bill that the lobster roll was $29. The only really choice I had as a vegetarian, was between the loaded nachos, and the black bean burger. Not very creative, and I went with the burger out of fear that the nachos were more about the creamy toppings and less about the beans. To be fair, I didn't order them, so I'm not commenting on the reality, just the decision process. They have a great beer menu with lots of good local brews to choose from and creative cocktails. We were here last weekend to celebrate a birthday in the family. We chose to sit out on the deck on a gorgeous evening. The view is often the best part about being at the Lake House. Our server was excellent. The live music while ok, but was being played entirely too loud. We were not able to have any conversation as a group because of it. We had to shout to each other and could really only speak with the person sitting right next to us. Even the server had a difficult time hearing us as she took our order. We did ask for it to be toned down but nothing ever came of that request. I've been here before when they've had live music and it was audible without being overwhelming. Our meals were better than most we have had in the past. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We had hoped to have dessert, however a storm was moving in out of nowhere and it was starting to sprinkle so we were never asked just brought the check. Ate there last Saturday for the first time. I'm not from the area, so I probably won't be back, but if I'm in the area again for some reason I could see myself returning. Food: The food was pretty good. There was 10 of us and the reviews were a bit mixed, but I really liked my dish. I had the Osso Bucco, which was done perfectly...it fell off the bone, and was very moist. The portion was quite huge, the potatoes were good, and the broccoli was cooked perfectly. Important note, however, you best like rosemary, as its presence was very noticeable. Price: The prices were reasonable, though I'm not sure how they compare to other places in the area. They also more than willingly adjusted the bill for one of the blemishes on an otherwise good meal. Drinks: Well they have quite a few beers on tap, but they were out of three of them unfortunately. It was comical really, as the order from our large group slowly weeded through the ones they didn't have. Layout / Decor / Etc. The layout was pretty nice, and the elevated view of Lake Bomoseen and the mountains in the distance more than makes up for any decor/layout shortcomings. The music during dinner was a good mix of songs that you'll likely be OK with even if you don't know them, particularly given the low volume. When we were leaving a live band (perhaps just a single person, I didn't look) was starting up, but unfortunately I couldn't stick around. Service: The waiter (whose name escapes me) was very nice and surprisingly quick and courteous given that he seemed to be serving every table in sight. This bar and restaurant benefits from a great location, located right on Lake Bomoseen. Several floors of dining with most tables being situated near the large windows looking over the lake. Or, walk down the stairs to the dockside seating. Bartenders and servers were very friendly (although I must admit that some of our group which varried in age from 78 to 42 were a bit surprised to see our waitress sporting a full set of sleeves - most places that I have been to would require a server to wear long sleeves since not everyone appreciates the intricacy of lots of tattoos), Eight of us in all and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the Thai Scallops which had a sweet chili paste along with a brown rice. Salads were pretty standard fare. They make their own Mozzarella and they fry it up nicely. Overall, a solid place to get a slightly better than average meal. If I was just rating the place on the food 2.5 but the atmosphere, which totally goes into a rating, brings it up slightly to a 3. We tried the Lakehouse on lobster night. I was so glad we made reservations for outdoor dining. It was a nice night so the restaurant was full. The black and blue burger was really good. Most of our group ordered lobster. Fish and chips were a nice size. We had the calamari and nachos for appetizers. We got an aioli dipping sauce for the calamari instead of the normal sauce. Our waitress seemed new but was very nice. Bathrooms are up on the top floor so they require you to walk up some steps. We are beer drinkers and they have a nice selection. Our bill was $60 for 2 sodas, 1 beer, an order of nachos, an order of pasta, and a burger. They charge for soda refills, and it's about 3 tablespoons of soda with the rest of the glass full of ice. I hate when restaurants do this... you pay less than 3 cents for that glass of soda and you're to charge $2.50 for a tiny bit of soda and tons of ice? Ridiculous. My pasta was $17.99 for penne, alfredo sauce, grape tomatoes and spinach. Seriously?! It also came out COLD. Not even room temperature. Cold. So, on a long drive back from visiting colleges in VT, we drove by the public beach for Lake Bomoseen and figured it would be a lovely place for a late lunch. I had a sandwich, but my daughter, a vegetarian, didn't have anything. The Lake House Pub and Grille was the closest establishment. What did they charge for a take-out salad that consisted of a modest sized styrofoam clamshell containing some lettuce and a bit of dressing? $17. That's right -- they charged the young, hungry vegetarian girl $17 for a very modest and undistinguished salad. Yup, there's definitely an aspect of caveat emptor here. But this was a rip-off. If you're by Lake Bomoseen, give this place a wide berth on principle alone. Just keep on driving -- you'll find someplace else eventually, and you'll be glad you did. read more

Food presented in paper-lined plastic baskets. Side of fried contained appx. 20 fries. Ice cream sandwiches sounded yummy but cookies low quality & stale. Gardens on dock overgrown and unkempt. We stopped on a whim after seeing the "Margarita Monday" sign, driving from our campground up the street - the Lake Bomoseen KOA. We first entered in the main restaurant / bar area. Thought it was a very nice ambiance - but we really wanted to sit closer to the water. We took our drinks down to the lower level and found a table right on the edge of the water. It was amazing. What a great place to start our visit to Lake Booseen. The drinks were well prepared. After our first, we ordered a 2nd along with a platter of Wings which were well cooked and seasoned. The service was friendly and efficient, considering how many stairs they had to travel up and down with each order. I could certainly see a phone or some sort of technology to help the ordering process, but I suppose that would take away from the old school Lake House experience. A table near us was raving about their food - not sure what it was, but I saw a steak and a couple of different seafood dishes pass by. The deck filled quickly and everyone was having a good time. There was a communal feel as people chatted openly from table to table. Highly Recommended for the ambiance, the service and the food. read more

Stopped in on way back from Castleton drop off of eldest. WOW! Is this place beautiful. I had the PEI Mussels and Lovey had a cheeseburger. Food was fantastic, and the service was great. I asked the waitress how many steps a day she takes and she confirmed 8-10 miles per double shift. The rear deck is not for the weak or handicapped. It is a full three flights of stairs to get down to water, but the view from inside on ground floor is even better I think. I will be returning for sure. I would highly recommend if you are in the area to stop for drinks or a full meal. read more
