What a delightful surprise! With all due respect, this place is pretty much out in the middle of nowhere, so our expectations were not high when we pulled in. My apologies to the staff for my preconceptions. For lunch, the atmosphere was family-friendly Roadhouse, although I'm not sure if and how the vibe in the large bar area changes at night. The young lady who served us was friendly and efficient and made some spot on suggestions. The New England Clam Chowder was exceptional, as was the Reuben Sandwich. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals just as much as I did. My only suggestion is that if you go in the summer, try not to sit by the front door, the oscillating A/C unit blowing down your neck every 30 seconds or so can be a bit much. Other than that, a solid choice. I would not hesitate to stop back in if I find myself in the area in the future. read more

This was an unexpectedly great find. It's a very nice bar with a good menu and is newly renovated and meticulously clean. I had the New England clam chowder, the Friday night Prime rib special, an on-tap Fiddlehead IPA and six nuclear wings. The nuclear wings were actually very tasty and more like a medium spicy to me. Didn't need ranch or a drink at all. I would definitely come back here. Bar service was incredibly friendly and the male and female bartenders teamed up to take care of me. The last time I ordered from here my meal looked fresh.............. fresh from the morgue ! It was the Philly Cheese Steak. Pasty white soggy roll and grey colored meat. Not at all appealing to the eye and less to the palat. I don't mind paying for quality food at all but what I paid for this was criminal. !!!!!! read more

This was a pleasant surprise. A number of cars in the lot caused us to stop. It is a find! The taco plate (two)and the dessert - maple sweet potato cheesecake - made the stop worthwhile. The tacos were tasty, but not spicy. Keara provided excellent service. read more

This place was great! The food was excellent, and the ambiance was charming. And clean, very clean. In fact, it was so good we made sure to return on our cross country trip. The food was excellent. Fast, hot, and tasty, with plenty of options for hungry travelers. Highly recommend the patty melt and the Reuben, for those so inclined. Probably the best part was the service. We had the same server on both visits, who remembered us and asked after our travels. Tommilynn was super friendly and efficient, and made our visit a joy. read more

My family and I were traveling through the area to the great Northeast from Northeastern Indiana and I had scoped this one out on Yelp and this one did not disappoint! First walked into the bar area and decided to move over to the family room area since we had our 14 yr old son. Service was good and the food was great! Food came out very fresh and quick. Burgers were actually cooked to the temp we requested which doesn't happen very often! My tater tots were good as well. The family room area was very clean and we couldn't have been happier! We left with NY Cheesecake with strawberry topping to go and it was also great at our nearby Airbnb. Go there! Definitely worth the trip! read more

Where do i start. Unfortunately the food each and every time we went gave us some sort of illness. Service was nice and wait staff was attentive to needs, However higher command leaves something to be desired. Ambiance is very small town-ish and definitely proud of their coming ups. What i experienced. What was ordered: Steak Rare, I received a steak undercooked the first time, Overcooked the second time, than they were only able to give us a "VIP discount" to give us 10% off on an almost $70 bill. Owners are shady, they raised prices around 3%, only to give a 3% discount for using cash. Wouldn't go again until some of the issues are resolved or if you're looking to just order alcohol and not eat. read more

Here it goes..... left vermont without having anything to eat after snowboarding a half day.... on our route home we pass this place and hunger hits. Screw it let's stop in..... Walking in the place is clean, smells good and very large. One side (the taproom) is very busy, the other only a few tables occupied. One of the tables a woman eating says, hey you just seat yourself here and they will be with you. Ok great!!! My buddies and I decide to go to the busier section, we planned on having drinks anyway and that's where the bar was. Upon sitting we are greeted by a hustling and bustling waitress that was very friendly and held a great smile. I get up to use the bathroom and walk on to one of the cleanest well maintained watering holes I've ever entered. From this point forward I knew this food was going to hit the spot. I was def not wrong!!!!! We got Buffalo chicken wraps, chicken tenders (more like a nugget), loaded tater tots sweet potato fries (melba sauce, I think that's what it was called, was bomb!!!) and a turkey club sandwich. This place really was a hidden gem. I'm super happy we stopped in and the wait staff was super friendly, helpful and sweet. read more

We ate lunch here again today. Food was very good as usual. We both had the stuffed pepper soup, it was delicious. Great little find in the middle of nowhere near Lake George. The wings were very good, and the burger with House cut fries was exceptional. Better than average beer selection, and the place is really nice inside, definitely rustic. It had very mild biker bar vibe to it, but was full of families eating dinner together. My family travels to Vermont quite often to see football games at nearby Castleton where my grandson plays. We're always searching for nearby restaurants to go to after games, banquets, etc. at the school. Our first experience at Railway was a little over a year ago and since then it has been one of our "go to" eating/relaxing destinations. We usually have between 5-12 folks with us and they have always been very accommodating seating us together. The place is clean, the food is very good, and the waitstaff is awesome. I highly recommend The RailYard you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a great spot while in NY. Small town that you wouldn't expect much food but it was amazing. The service was great as not only the waitress served but the owners were there as well checking in on things. They have American food that tastes amazing. Went to VT for the day and on our return passed by and decided to grab something to eat. What a great choice. From the minute we walked in until we left .... we felt welcomed. Our server Wendy was attentive and knew her menu. We ordered mozzarella sticks and Calamari.... excellent!!... Calamari cooked just right and everything came out hot and fresh.(good sauce by the way.... and that's from an Italian girl ) I had a side salad and the plate and lettuce was cold .... that makes a difference.....No Peppered Parm dressing... so I ordered ranch on the side with some Parmesan cheese... very accommodating! Next out came our meals... 1-Pub burger and 1-Meatball Hero. The burger was REAL meat... not a frozen patty and it was cooked to perfection... Medium for me......NAILED IT. Meatballs were great as well as the sauce. Came out hot and cheese dripping over the mound of goodness. Bathroom was clean and Tidy. The decor is Train Station themed... but not overkill ...would have liked to have seen a little more.....but your there to eat and drink.... Not wait for the train. This place has their shit together when it comes to the dining experience. Will be back for sure..... also to try the dessert because it all sounded great. Don't let the outside deter you from making this your "place to goo". A must stop for every time you pass by!!!!! Not very often do I give 5 stars. I'm impressed!! read more

I want to give a huge shout out to Michael, his family, Tom and their fantastic crew at Railyard! I was charged with the task of feeding 70 people in Hulletts Landing for the filming of "Fourth of July." Michael and his wonderful chef went above and beyond each time they catered for us. From chicken and biscuits to thanksgiving dinner with all the fixins, chicken Parmesan and pasta day, it was all to die for. I even had a nice dinner at their beautiful bar with fried mac and cheese bites and one of the best burgers I've ever had (BBq sauce, swiss cheese, and a fried onion ring on top of a perfectly cooked patty). Not only was the food top notch, the service and hospitality kept me coming back. The crew loved your food and I'm your new biggest fan. I cant wait to visit again. History

Established in 2019.

The original restaurant, The Roma, was opened in 1927 by the D’Amico family. It was sold in 1946 to the Grady family who operated The Roma as a family-style restaurant that emphasized an Italian cuisine for 56 years. The Roma enjoyed a long, rich tradition and was known for being “the place to be" for decades. In 2002, The Roma was sold but operated under the same name under the ownership of Pat and Vicki Roche until March 2012 when the business was sold to Dave and Roxanne Waters, who renamed the restaurant Lucia's. In March 2015, Lucia's was sold to David and Shelly Carpenter, who renamed the business Cook Street Station. In May 2018, the business was purchased by a group of five families, all of whom have ties to the Whitehall community. The five families renamed the establishment The RailYard Taproom & Restaurant and spent the next year completely remodeling the restaurant before opening for business in August 2019.

We stumbled in for a late bite on a quiet winter carnival weekend and there were only a handful of patrons, mostly locals sitting at the bar. The bartender (and our server) Edward was friendly and kept an eye on us and made sure we had what we needed. The food is solidly average pub fare, not bad and perfectly serviceable, but it shouldn't be your primary objective if you're a foodie hunter like me. But on a main drag littered mostly with mediocre bar-restaurants charging tourist prices for tourist indifference, I'll take "just fine" as a win. I'm not much of a drinker but my husband liked his can of Copper Legend lager so much that he ordered another one to go. The location is conveniently central especially if you're staying on Canada St. or doing activities at the lake.
