Was not happy with the former manager Emily and her lack of customer service and attitude... I stopped going to the River because of Emily ! Great food. Seafood Trio was wonderful. Ample portions. Delicious sauce. I had the pulled pork sandwich. Great breast, tasty pork and a topping of their salad was a nice touch too. Started with the fondue which never disappoints! The sweet potato hash is so unique and always order it! The bonus of the night was the dessert. Menu stated it was a double chocolate brownie but more like a blondie brownie served warm and crispy with housemade ice cream. It was DELICIOUS!! Server and atmosphere was very relaxing. The first time we ate here right after they opened (3 years ago) our experience was great. We were visiting the area again and decided to give it a try and we had an awful experience. They only had one server and one bartender working so while I understand that it's hard to get good help, why not close for the night? We had to wait for a long time to be waited on, then it took forever for them to bring our food. In addition, it took them an hour to bring my husband a beer in a can and my burger and bun were burnt. It's a nice restaurant and the employees were kind, but we were very disappointed with our most recent experience there. read more

River Grill is a new resto in Brandon this year. + Ambiance is chill gastro-pub across the street from the Fall where Mae's used to be. Looks updated and indoor and patio seating. While I was visiting, there was a steady flow of people to their patio (~4 tables / 12 seats). Their patio faces SR7. Menu is by QR, but they provide paper menus when they seat you. Generally clean and friendly vibe. + Food is updated American with interesting twist of local meats. There was an emu and pork meat balls on the menu. Apparently, there's a local emu farm nearby. I had a locally sourced beef burger with sweet potato hash. It came out with perfect medium rare and was tasty. Their hash was mixed with red peppers and while it had a nice texture, it was little oily. The only odd thing was their weirdly short fork. It was like eating with a kid fork, but that's the only kind of fork they have. Perhaps order finger foods. + Price is on the higher side but not unreasonable. ++ Service was friendly and prompt. Great little spot about 30 min from Middlebury. They have a very relaxing ambiance here, it's perfect for lunch. We sat at the bar and ordered a round of local beers, as well as an appetizer and a lunch sandwich. The fondue app was very tasty, and came with toasted pieces of pita, as well as green apple slices. The BLT was pretty big (think giant pita wrap) and was stuffed with a ton of sliced Turkey, along with some bacon. It was really filling. The sandwich comes with an option if a few sides. We went with the maple carrots (seasonal). Pricing was very reasonable. Bartender was really nice. Great spot! read more

The service was terrible. The person behind the bar named Emily is not friendly and I had to wait a long time gor her to take my drink order. Even longer to take my food order. she never asked me if the food was good or if I wanted anything else. She never said thank you, come again. Their appetizers are much better than their main courses. They have delicious mozzarella moons and fondue! Saw excellent reviews and decided try this place. We made reservations for 5:30 and walked from the Brandon Inn. Got there about an hour early but the server took us right in to our table. We ordered Irish coffee, which was really good. Then we had Brussel sprouts appetizer which was surprisingly good and watched football. Sadly several large groups were turned away as they just don't have enough tables, but it was filled up by 5:30 with reservationists. Then we ordered. Kathy got the pork chop and I got the ribeye steak. Both were superb. The pork chop was juicy and the sauce was very tasty. My ribeye was cooked to perfection even though it was a little thin. The sauce and thin onion rings on it were marvelous. It also came with potatoes and cooked carrot strips. It was all wonderful. The service was tiptop. Our waitress was there whenever we needed something but wasn't helicoptering all the time. The ambiance was warm and inviting with a bar along one wall with TVs and maybe ten indoor tables and a few outdoor ones. We were100% happy and would go back in an instant. Can't recommend getting reservations strongly enough. You don't want to miss out if you're near Brandon, Vermont! read more

I ended up paying for them which was a pleasure to do to be able to let them enjoy there time with each other an food an not have to pay for it. Got takeout on a Saturday. Place was empty. Caesar salad was the worst ever ( and stupid expensive at $14) and my Turkey wrap was almost as bad with mushy lettuce and very dry and overcooked (microwaved?) pork belly. On top of that mess it was very expensive. Yes, I left the waitress a tip. Our first and only visit I'm afraid. read more

Quaint Grill Pub in downtown Brandon, VT just steps from shops and galleries. Fast friendly service and great food. I had the carrot bisque appetizer followed by the open face meat loaf sandwich. My family just visited after wanting to try it for a while. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but it was not the quality one would expect for the prices paid. The food was bland and underwhelming. A very basic cheeseburger with fries is $15 and is one of the cheapest items on the menu. There is absolutely no kids menu, but they did offer us kids options which were not good. A very basic 1/2 pizza which is 75% bland dough, and sauce and a few clumps of mozzarella cheese on each slice which was not a kid-friendly presentation. The kid's chicken was 1 large chicken strip that came so late that the rest of my family had basically eaten everything. When the 1 large strip came it was overcooked and unseasoned and my child did not eat it. Give this place a pass if you have children, and taste buds. There are better options in Brandon steps away from this restaurant. read more

Now let's get to this amazing food. I got the burger which was super good , but the thing was that the fries were a little bit salty I still loved them. My little brother got the grilled cheese from the kids menu. He gave it a four out of 4. When I tried it I personally loved it, but that's just me though. My mom got got the kale salad and my mom loved it. My dad got the sweet potato wrap with the veggies on the side and he loved it so much. The ambiance felt really good and chill. Just had my husband's birthday dinner here after a day of skiing. Not a thing to complain about. Welcomed from the second we walked in. Amazing VT maple whiskey sour with a frothy egg white. Waitress wrote nothing down and got 4 orders perfect. Homemade house chips with bleu cheese dip. Huge prime rib special for the birthday boy, risotto with no leftovers!, burger, and steak sandwich. All amazing. Then birthday desserts were: towering carrot cake and chocolate mousse cake, both with ice cream and sauce drizzled on the plate. Then the waitress told us the delay was due to staff shortage yet a couple came in shortly after us, ordered drinks and food after us but got their food almost 20 minutes before us.
