Lake Ivanhoe Park is extremely walkable and surrounded by great dining spots, which makes it easy to turn a park visit into a full afternoon out. The views of the lake are beautiful and really set the tone. The play structure is starting to feel a little dated, but it's still solid and well maintained. There's a working water fountain, shaded seating, and accessible swings with handicap seating, which I really appreciate. Overall, a great spot to spend time outside. read more

Lake Ivanhoe Park offers a great view of downtown Orlando. It is a pleasant park and obviously very popular with the residents of the surrounding neighborhood. Orlando has a lot of great parks. Probably the one with the highest profile is Lake Eola Park, and while Lake Eola Park is stunning, Lake Ivanhoe Park itself is definitely a great addition to Orlando. Lake Ivanhoe in Orlando has a history in the late 19th-century as a home to large scale pineapple plantations. Entrepreneur George I. Russell established a 20-acre farm here. By 1927, it had become a large water amusement park built by Russell called Joyland, which featured a dance hall, water slides, and a fishing dock. After the park closed, the surrounding land was developed into a residential neighborhood that became the Lake Ivanhoe Residential Historic District made up of homes built between the 1920's and the 1950's in various architectural styles. Lake Ivanhoe Park is located on the shore of the 125 acre Lake Ivanhoe. It is a passive green space with benches and lake views. This park is a nice place to bike ride or just sit on a bench and enjoy nature. The lake is used by water skiers and fishermen. I really enjoy this park/lake and I hope others do too. It's such a nice place to sit and read a book, take a walk, have a picnic, play volleyball, bring your kids, and stroll with your dog. It's not very big but it does pack a big punch. Being that Orlando has many a lake the competition is stiff. But what this park has that others may not is character and appeal. The walkways are lit, the benches face the water, water fountains are spread throughout, and if you want to be active, a volleyball court sits in the middle. Plus as I mentioned, if you have kids with you, there is a playground area to help keep them occupied. There are small bridges and a larger deck area that make it feel as though it sits in the country and not just a few minutes from downtown. If you intend on driving there, there is a decent size parking lot that doesn't cost a thing. And if it happens to be full there are more spots up and down N. Orange. Which brings me to my next point. There are many great shops and restaurants on Ivanhoe Row which is a great excuse to make a afternoon or night out of your time here. read more

So pretty! I recently relocated to College Park and at the end of my street lives this gorgeous lake. Lake Ivanhoe Park covers 11.2 acres of shoreline on the south, west and north shores of Lake Ivanhoe. Before moving close to it, I would just drive up Orange and see it and always noticed it had great sunset views. However, being so close to it now I walk it a lot more and take in the gorgeousness that is the water, foliage and awesome surroundings. I have seen boating, stand up paddle-boarding, and kayaking but haven't ventured out that way yet. It really has awesome view of the downtown skyline as well, urban setting with a little city feel. Sometimes mistaken with Gaston Edwards Park which sits on the eastern shore of this Lake. Lake Ivanhoe Park is comprised by the lake ...of course, and some green area by College Park. Frequently visited by dog walkers, I have also seen some Yogi's working out to the beautiful sunrise, and just families walking around. Sometimes people launch their SUPs from the shores since the boat ramp is actually located in Gaston Edwards. This park is a Gem for the beautiful space it provides in the middle the urban environment of Downtown Orlando. For those of us fortunate enough to live close by, it is a great place to visit, relax, paddleboard, boat and chill. For those who don't live near Lake Ivanhoe, hop on your car, bike or rollerblades and come check it out. read more

For a park so close to the city Lake Ivanhoe park isn't too bad. We used to put our jet ski in the water there. There is only a small grassy area where you can hang out when boating and Orange Ave. is pretty close on the one side of the park. You may feel a little closed in with the lake on one side and traffic buzzing by on the other. You get a nice view of Interstate 4 too. The cool part is that if you can boat under I-4 there are a few smaller lakes in the back to explore. It's also kind of fun to check out the expensive homes back there. For actual skiing though, it is on the small side, unless you enjoy skiing in circles. It is nice that the park is right along side antique row and just across the street is Brian's restaurant with its legendary cinnamon rolls. read more

Lake Ivanhoe park is right near downtown orlando, and is another great little park that can help get you away from the city...without taking you too far! The Good: Go Boating: Though I myself have not had the joy of owning a boat, if you do there is a nice boat ramp here that will give you the adequate space needed to launch into Lake Ivanhoe for an afternoon of boating. Let the kids play: There's also a very nice playground facility here that is big enough for most kids, but is very friendly to kids as young as 5-6 The Bad: A little small: Call me crazy, but I am like the Dixie Chicks and I love wide open spaces. Ivanhoe park does have some "open spaces" but they sort of miss the wide part... I really like going to Lake Ivanhoe opark, siimply becuase it is an easy to get to place in the cuty that you can go to if you need to keep the kids occupied for a little while. This park is big, beautiful, and well-kept. It appears to be somewhat of a dog park although it does state dogs must be on a leash; however, I am here with my boxer unleashed and she's having the time of her life. From chasing ducks to squirrels and birds alike this is a big dog paradise. I would love to see a fenced in area along the lake so dogs can socialize and swim in the future! Also I can only see one poop bag dispenser and think they could use a few more scattered throughout. Hours are sunrise to sunset and the 270 degrees of water is beautiful :) read more

One of the things I love about the Orlando area is its many lakes, and the little pieces of green often surrounding them. Lake Ivanhoe Park is one such piece - just a thin strip of parkland ringing the lake with shade trees, paths, a playground, and benches. I went out for a run on the paths around the lakes. Was it the greatest run ever? No - attempting to loop around, it felt like an awkwardly short distance, and I wished it was possible to simply run under I-4 to give it more of a continuous-loop-around-the-lake feel. However, the neighborhood I found on the west side of the lake was visually impressive, almost an idealized caricature of Central Florida, with the lake across the street, stately homes and oaks dripping with Spanish moss. If I ever had to live in the Orlando area and couldn't afford Winter Park, I'd probably want to live here. Oh, who am I kidding, I wouldn't be able to afford this either...but it was fun to run and think of all the fishing I'd probably do if I lived right across the street. In a way, proximity to downtown and I-4 makes this lake and park more "cool" than it otherwise would be. It's a prime example of urban green space - something I wish my own hometown had a lot more of. read more

A very nice scenic park. I enjoy riding my bike around the perimeter and enjoying the view. I see folks hanging out here during the day to enjoy the outdoors. The park is used for water sports and fitness bootcamps also. It is a lovely park and lake, and the adjoining neighborhoods are very nice as well. read more
