Old time place for food and stuff. It's like going back in time to a kinder world--except for the modern prices.

Stopped in for lunch and was blown away by the service and quality here. We got the club, an Italian, and a grilled ham and cheese for our kids and every single thing was delicious. By far the best Italian sandwich I've ever had. My husband also had a pizza burrito which was out of this world. The woman making the sandwiches was friendly and was very nice to my young children. We aren't from the area and found this place while we were out for a drive, but we will definitely be making the 45 minute journey again to eat more sandwiches from this place. Even my very picky four year old devoured her sandwich. There's also a little shop outside selling peanuts and kettle corn, and those were delicious as well. This women was horrible to me and had the worst customer service. Her co workers where so quite and didn't even defend her with her poor customer service. I've been coming here for years and never got treated so harshly. I have a family and was buying food for my family and she decided to tell me in a rude way she's hungry. She seemed to not want too work today because I didn't say I was paying with EBT and she got angry that I didn't tell her. This women needs to get fired before she gets more customers disappointed. I pray that I can contact the store manager to report this action. Her attitude was so immature that she got the best out of me and hopefully she doesn't disrespect another customer that would actually act at her level of immaturity. Great to have down the hill, however, super disappointed they stopped doing the tacos. We looked forward to that all the time on the weekends going by as much as we do have notice is not getting the business that used to. My family and I have been coming here for years and even when we have people visit us we take them. I am a firm believer in helping out small family owned businesses. Today was a slap in the face. The girl at the register with the nose ring has zero business working with people. We needed Propane and went in to tell her. You could tell she was bothered. Waited for a long time. Another person pulled up for Propane and a guy came out to help and said that the girl had forgotten about us. When my husband went in to pay she was upset that my husband didn't know how much Propane we got. Then she tried to charge us for not only our tanks but for the other people who showed up. I highly recommend changing your staff if doing a register and having a bit of customer service is too much for her. I hear the circus is hiring...lol read more

This is a hole in the wall place that serves freshly made food. My family and I enjoy their sub sandwiches tremendously. The bread tastes fresh as do the rest of the ingredients in the sand which. I recommend you phone order if you want it fast as they take their time to prepare the food as you order it. The large sandwiches are about a foot long and are full of goodies. They serve it well. Lake mathews store sucks,everytime i go in for propane it like you are asking for something special.and its a pain in their ass to do this for you.When i just want something they have for sale.today i had an emergency,we had a hot water leak and the hot water heater ran us out of propane. So i fixed it and when't for some propane being friday couldn't get a delivery till monday.But it was raining and was told they don't do it in rain.I tried to explain it wasn't for my bbq it was for my house and i had my kid with me.He said sorry no.And there is a cover over the area.Thanks lake Mathews market. read more

Ok so this place is not the fanciest or prettiest... but this place has legit some of the best Mexican food. I'm visiting family in Perris and my cousin knew I loved Mexican street food, especially tacos, so he suggested we stop at Lake Mathews General Store. As we pulled up, I caught a whiff of the meat the cook had on the outside grill and my "EAT TACOS NOW--EAT TACOS HERE" light flashed on in my brain. We each ordered one of each--carne asada, pollo asada, barbacoa (my favorite!) and carnitas. The were simply topped with chopped onions and cilantro. If you long for the authentic taste of those wonderful treats you had in Mexico, look no further--these are the real deal. I could close my eyes take a bite, and be transported to Mexico--yes, they're that good! The accompanying salsa bar may be small by some standards but the flavors are huge. Being a "pepper-belly" all my life, of course I had to try them all. And those labels reading "HOT," well, just believe them. I tried the "HOT HOT" and it fully delivered both heat and flavor--got my endorphins flowing! So I you find yourself on Caljalco Road on the weekend stop by.
