People get there EARLY. I'm talking, I was there 2+ hours before 1st pitch and there were at least a couple rows of cars and more coming already. It gets packed fast so just be aware of that if you're driving. Workers do a good job directing people on the way in, but on the way out it's pretty much a mess. This field and facility are very well maintained. Everything seemed fairly clean, considering how big of a space it is. There is a big lawn behind center field where a lot of young kids run around trying to catch home run balls from the team warmups. It's very family-oriented, just a great and enjoyable atmosphere. The worst part are certainly the prices. If you're not willing to pay minimum $50 at the gift shop don't even walk in there, that was obscene. The food prices are definitely up there as well, but it is still a professional sporting event and that's just how food prices are for that so you have to keep that in mind and be prepared. Also, security can get a little weird if you're not in the main seating area. They make you scan your ticket multiple times to where it gets a little ridiculous. Not a fan of that or the Tigers, to be honest, but I'd come back again because there's few things better than being out at the ball game!

That being said, you will still probably have to wait 25 minutes to get your $5 local brew. Lakeland center is dated, dark, and a long way from being a state of the art facility. However, it really isn't trying to be one either. You get the feeling that if Lakeland center could talk it would say; "I'm not the best venue in Florida and I'm OK with that." All kidding aside, the venue is comfortable, intimate and was a fine place to enjoy some Ring of Honor Wrestling. However, it doesn't appear to have been renovated in several decades and the concession lines were very slow. Lakeland center is a bit like a good dollar store knife, it isn't going to impress anyone but it gets the job done.

It has an arena, theater, 2 large exhibit halls and various meeting rooms. Nice place, don't know how long it's been built but it looks new. Lots of room, there were about 200 vendors in the 2 exhibit halls. Being inside with air conditioning is great. Lots of potties, very clean and nice staff. Only complaint was lack of food choices. There was a 4 Rivers BBQ in the hallway between exhibit halls and a little bar set-up. Could have used more choices. If an event is being held at the RP, don't worry about this venue, it's very nice.

The seats are ancient and uncomfortable, with broken armrests and zero legroom. I spent the entire movie with my knees jammed into the seat in front of me. The sound system was a joke; muffled dialogue mixed with ear-splitting bass that made it impossible to follow anything. Half the screen had a weird blurry spot like the projector needs a serious cleaning or replacement. Prices are insane for the low quality you're getting. $18 for a ticket to sit in a dirty, broken theater? No thanks. This place feels like it hasn't been updated or properly maintained since the 90s. Will never return. Save your money and go somewhere else.

It feels like each visit to this theater is worse than the last. To be clear, the problem is not…read moreentirely the employees. While the theater is obviously understaffed and many staff members are doing the best they can with the resources available to them, there are also times when a lack of attention and oversight becomes apparent. Ultimately, however, those issues seem more reflective of management and company investment than of individual employees. Unfortunately, the theater itself continues to decline. During our most recent visit, the projector was not properly filling the entire screen, and the audio presentation was noticeably flawed. Dialogue appeared to be coming from only a single speaker while the music played through the surround sound system, making portions of the film difficult to understand. These are fundamental presentation issues that should not be occurring in a functioning movie theater. The real issue is CMX as a company. I've seen some of the CMX locations in Miami and Daytona that are modern, well-maintained, and provide an excellent moviegoing experience. In comparison, it appears that their Polk County locations have been largely neglected. That's especially disappointing considering that we are living in an era where movie presentation technology has never been better, with premium formats such as IMAX and Dolby Cinema raising the standard for what audiences can expect. Meanwhile, this theater feels like it has been left behind by decades. Polk County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation. Winter Haven residents here should not have to drive to North Lakeland or Davenport just to enjoy a clean, modern, and comfortable theater experience. Unfortunately, CMX does not seem interested in investing in this location (and the CMX Lakeside 18 location), or even adequately maintaining it. If CMX is unwilling to commit to improving its Polk County theaters, then perhaps it is time to consider selling these locations to a larger chain such as AMC. The community deserves a theater operator that is willing to invest in the customer experience and recognize the potential of this rapidly growing market.
