Spent one night here at the campground in a self contained RV. It cost me $30/night for no hookups. Very, very large campground! Also appears very clean with water and clean restrooms with showers abundantly located throughout the park. The lake is very big as well, but I don't have a boat nor do I like the water, so I can't comment on the lake. This seems like a nice park to spend a night or 2, but not much to do for us and our 9 year old girl for more than a couple of days. read more

Only $10 to enter. We went yesterday 5/31/18 it was empty besides 2 other people. Sooooo nice. Bathrooms were clean, beaches were clean. I think we'll skip going to the beach and start coming here. Plenty of shade by the picnic tables. We went to areas 1-2. We sat and played in the water for 4 hours. We saw several big fishes leaping out of the water which was cool. I bet this place gets packed in the summer and weekends. But our Thursday noon visit was great. read more

I called several times when attempting to plan a day trip here. The employees who I spoke with on the phone never really seemed like they knew what was going on inside of the park. I asked if they had kayak rentals and their response was, "I think there is a place that rents kayaks." You think? You work there! You should know what activities there are. Secondly, once we arrived at the park there was a huge line to get in and only one person at the gate letting people in. The girl who was working at the entrance was moving so slow and spent about 5-10 (Yes, 10 minutes) per vehicle. Once it was our turn, I asked her for some information on activities and places to rent boats and she didn't have a lot of information. She informed us of this water park inside, which we ended up being extremely excited about. After we entered the park and finally found the water park (since she didn't give us good directions), we realized the water park was only open on the weekends. Came around 9am on a hot Saturday and wasn't too busy. Spent the entire day on the boat while soaking up rays and playing in the water. Big enough to circle around while pulling the kids on the tube without running into people. Had a great time... will be back! read more

I hope this helps you. :) It has been years since I have camped and was NEW to Lake Perris. I do wish I would have went up sooner to check it out before. Overall I give my trip a B-. Spending time with family and friends were Great and just getting away. Here are things I realized and wish I knew about. Not all campsites (CS) are the same. I used Google Maps to help pick my location but those pictures are outdated. I rented 362 as my primary and with friends coming up I got 360 for 1 night. CS 360 had NO SHADE, the trees that were there are gone. CS 362 had 1 good tree and another that wasn't all that. The concrete pad by the table also were not all the same. The bathrooms were decent, could have a pest co. come out for those black widows. The Water spouts & Dumpsters were good and close by to wash dishes and throw out your trash. Take a pop-up or Easy Up! It was HOT and did get COLD in the middle of the night. The lake was pretty nice, get there early on the weekend to reserve your spot. It does fill up fast. This is a good place to get away if you live local or if you have a wave runner/seadoo/jet ski, etc. Would I be back? I would but I will check out other camp sites 1st since I do not have any watercrafts. PS: Take ant spray, they are everywhere. read more

The lake itself is good. Except there's way too many restrictions. Half the bathrooms I looked for were shut down and locked (on a Saturday), Law Enforcement and securities are always there, and a lot of restriction signs mostly anywhere in the park. All just for a lake. Just be careful where you park and know your signs when driving around to avoid tickets. Not planning on going again due to excessive restrictions. read more

Tell me why me and 3 other people got sick after swimming here. Literally vomiting and constant diarrhea. we drank some of the nasty lake water by accident while diving and playing in the swimming area. I blamed all the food I ate before that but then this article pops up from May of 2019 warning about the dangerous toxic algae in Lake perris that causes symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea and flu. If you dont get sick from swimming here good for you but if you do then you know why. Try not to consume the water or dont swim at all. read more

Camped at Lake Perris this past weekend. This was our 3rd trip. Love the clean bathrooms/showers, lake and shop. Wish they had better playgrounds for the kids. Didn't love our loud obnoxious neighbors who were yelling and cussing most of the night. There were a ton of kids around but that didn't stop them. Poor review because basically anyone can do what they want there. There apparently are no rules, no quiet hours... We were told there is no staff around after 10 and dispatch won't send anyone unless there's a threat of violence. There should be security for situations like this or a park host to handle loud drunk people. read more

I've been coming to this lake since the late 70's as an OC native. After moving out to the IE in the early 90's we still continued to go. I watched the lake severely decline. Over the past few years alot if work was put into the lake. I just visited the lake yesterday 08/31/2019. The lake was clean and the facilities were kept up and clean. I would have given the lake 5 stars but one incident ruined that. A party next to us was having a birthday party where they would be having a DJ. The gentleman went around to everyone around where his party was and told them he'd be playing music and if it was okay. Everyone agreed to it, including us who was right next to him. After about an hour into the music a park ranger comes up to the guy DJ'ing. Tells him to turn it down or shut it off. The DJ didnt hear what he said and the come back out of the officers mouth was "Do you understand English, what did you think someone wouldn't complain." I'm all for our law enforcement and that thin blue line but you also have to have some integrity doing the job. The officer was out of line when the dj showed no disrespect to the officer at all. As much as I advocate that racism is dead, yesterday changed my mind. As matter of fact the people having the party were also latino but never heard one word of spanish come from their table. As much as I wanted to chime in, I didn't. I will be calling his Sargent, that's for sure. read more

We went here yesterday for the first time and it was great. I don't get all the 1 star negative reviews here. we swam and the lake was clean and clear, no smell, no algae, no seaweed, no grass, no trash.....just clean sand and shells and the water was so clear you could see the bottom. it was a great relaxing day. not many people at all. it was quiet and peaceful. the only sounds were a few kids laughing and the sound of boats. the bathrooms weren't the greatest....but they were way better than any public restroom at any beach down here in san diego! WARNING: lake perris has LEECHES! I have been to the lake a few times but this last experience freaked me out and i will not be going back.. Or to swim at least. Was hanging out in that water for a good 10 minutes with some friends around life guard tower 9 and when we got out of the water there were very small tan leeches attached to our feet and legs. Needless to say we left right away and got our money back. We asked an employee at the lake and they said we were not the first people to mention them. read more

My family and I recently camped in the RV section at the Lake Perris campground. I didn't read these reviews until after I booked our site. I was so disgusted I almost cancelled the trip. My brother has previously visited the lake and assured me he's never had a problem with roaches on the sites or leaches in the water so I decided to proceed with our plans. The drive to the lake was quick and easy. The park rangers were doing a great job keeping things safe but the over weight black lady that checked us in was so rude. She appears to hate her job. With her angry attitude and ghetto demeanor, she's lucky she even has a job! ...that's my only complaint : ) Getting our boat in / out of the water was quick & easy. The water was warm and somewhat clean. Certainly not as filthy as described in some of the previous reviews. Other people at the site and in the water were friendly, helpful and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. The site and restrooms were decent. There were no long lines or waits for the showers and they no longer charge for shower usage. Most of the sites were quiet by 10pm, some were up until about midnight but they were not playing loud rap / mariachi music until 2-3am as mentioned in a previous reviews below. It's possible we went on a "good weekend" but it seems more like they've made some improvements since some of the negative reviews have been posted. Overall we had a great time and are looking forward to our next trip to Lake Perris! **I highly recommend bringing a canopy / ez up since there isn't much shade. We also brought our own small grills. We has sites 210-216. These sites were super convenient, I highly recommend them if you are looking for RV sites. read more

If you want to go swim in a murky pond, Lake Perris is the perfect spot for you! There's so much algae that Swamp Thing might actually make his home here. Seriously, it really is that bad... and the water stinks too. Fortunately, there are other activities. There are plenty of BBQ's for use, expensive rentals (jet-skis and boats), and horse-riding. The horse riding was the best feature - around $20 for an hour. If you live in the vicinity and own a jet-ski or boat, it would probably be fun to take it out. My family and I used to have a blast water-skiing. I went here last summer for the first time in a decade, and was impressed with everything except for the water. If you want to swim, make the extra drive and just go to the beach. read more

Went camping May 1st thru the 3rd 2014 campsite 420 has shade but its too close to the main road. Lake perris is a good last minute or beginner campsite. Swimming, boating, and fishing is welcomed at the lake. Boats can be rented for very cheap. Make sure to keep ur site clean of any foods or red ants will storm ur campsite! read more

This place had plenty of spaces left for a last minute reservation. No wonder why... First of all, there is a $4 reservation fee per day. The fee for the second car is $10 per day as well! I ended paying $88 for this horrible tent campsite. We reservated for two nights but ended up staying 12 hours due to millions of bugs after dark. We could not BBQ and eat because they swarmed into our foods and to us! Not only flying bugs but there are thousands and thousands of roaches! We had kids and they literally stayed inside our car the whole time. They were crawling everywhere. You'll also see them in the restroom. The worst camp experience I've experienced. This lake has quite a few memories for me. Even though I'm not religious, I was baptized here amid a school of tiny silver fish. This place is really beautiful to me and it offers great views from just about anywhere. I usually hang out at the little pier in lot 1. I've also been camping here and it was pretty chill, I'd never been camping before and I think this place is an easy segue into camping, you're away but not REALLY away - we were right next to a bathroom with showers and we had a table at our site. We didn't put our food in the car and when we woke up things were scattered about, so be sure to at least follow that camping rule. I believe when we did that it was like $25, but if you can hike in it's free... maybe not anymore but I'd definitely ask about that, though you might want to just pay because the actual camping area is up quite a ways from the entrance. I've hiked up the hill to get here plenty of times though (if that counts as hiking haha), and it wasn't too bad. A final note on camping, it's not a place for revelers or anything, some people were told to turn their music off by the patrol, idk what time it was, but it wasn't even that late, so if you're looking to party this is not the lake to do it at. There are plenty of opportunities for fishing and there is even a little store by the marina to pick up snacks and fishing supplies at. You should get a boat for fishing though, dont fish on the shore. This lake is a really nice way to spend a peaceful day, especially if you dont come on like fourth of july or memorial day when it'll be tough to even find parking in the entire park sometimes. I've seen people walking up the hill to get in before, crazy! It's great, but not that great lol, I dont even really swim here anymore since it seems dirtier than it used to be and the water has receded quite a bit. However, it is still a nice place to be, and I'm sure it's fine to swim in, I'm just a bit of a priss... read more

This is my first time camping, but regardless, you don't need to be an expert to realize the good facilities located at the camp: Electric source is provided less than 20 feet away from where you actually setup the tent( couple 25 feet extension cords will do the job more than nicely) A water tap assigned to each lot The bathroom are clean, well stocked with toilet paper, and clean showers with private door and a bench (hot and cold water) No soap, but cry me a river! Get your own! The Rangers are very hands off as long as you are safe. The lake site is less than 10 minutes away (sometimes 20 depending if certain gates to the lake is closed) The lake itself is nice to sit by and look at, but not good for swimming ( to slimy and dirty) I have ATT a and I got signal 90% of the time and enough to stream music. Actual stores and suburban area is 20 minutes drive Over all a very good camping site that accommodate for a comfortable tent living and access to modern utilities. read more

who knew the IE had such a gem? went there july 30-aug 1 to camp at the campgrounds for the weekend and was pleasantly surprised pros: - location: this place is about 40 mins from my house, and 1.5 hours from LA. its a local area to go camping for the weekend, especially great because your friends can just come after they get off work on friday. .... admittedly it was really strange to drive through moreno valley before hitting the campground. but this made it great to drive over to stater bros to get ice and other things you may have forgotten - campgrounds were clean! each site had a bench, but the bench was chained to each spot, so you cant move them. the main area with the bench is nicely paved! so you dont have to constantly walk around in dust/dirt. plenty of space to set up many tents. also there was a trashcan right next to our site as well as a water spout - bathrooms: decent campground bathrooms. the shower was coin operated, although the shower near our site was jammed meaning FREE hot water! - lake: area around the lake is a great place to go to cool off from the hot sun. plenty of trees providing cool shade. there were also lots of gazebos. cons: - the wait! we got to the campgrounds exactly at 2pm to check in and it took us nearly an hour to get through the line! luckily once you get checked in you can squeeze into the far left lane and not have to go through the wait - privacy: im used to campgrounds that provide lots of brush and coverage between sites for privacy. this campground was extremely open with very little brush. so be aware of this when you pick our your campsites - the beach. i dont understand why the beach was so large. it took FOREVER to get from the lot to the lake edge. considering it was in the upper 90s, i thought id pass out from the walk back to the lot. the sand was also horrible. felt like walking through sharp glass. stupid shells. i dont know if id make the trek back to get into the murky water would i go again? ... to go camping, sure. would i go back just for the lake... no. read more

LAKE HAS LEECHES! Took my kids yesterday, Friday July 22nd 2016, to spend a day in the water. Got there around 4pm, parked in lot 1&2 and noticed the water wasnt the cleanest but got in anyway. As I was in there, I kept feeling small bites but didnt think much of it. I got out and noticed both my feet had a lot of small worm like things attached to my skin. I had no idea what they were and walked over to the lifeguard. He in fact confirmed they were leeches and said theypl had a problem with them on the other side of the lake and that they must of spread onto the beach side. He did help pluck them off with his car key. I had about 10 leeches latched to my feet. I actually took a live leech inside a little shell to the staff member at front gate but no one cared or was surprised. Be very careful, I would imagine getting a leech in your private parts, nose and ears might be a horrible experience. read more

Came here with the entire fam-bam for some camping and basically it was a disaster. --It took several HOURS to gain admittance (and we'd paid and made reservations weeks in advance) --Minimal trees and Perris is a virtual desert wasteland - so yeah, you will roast --The campground is like a mile away from the water front --There is ZERO shade by the water --You cannot pull your vehicle immediately up to the lake - you have to park about a 1/4 mile away in the paved lot, then lug all of your crap and the kids down to the water --The "beach" is chipped stone and rock - NOT sand, so kiss your feet goodbye walking on that mess; kiss your knees, shins and ankles goodbye wading in the lake --The campsites were overrun with insects - and not native species, but those attracted to human food and waste - flies, gnats, bees and roaches, lots and lots of roaches --Do not stay anywhere near the restrooms - all night drunks will be stumbling and trudging past your campsite - in the a.m. there will be trails of puke and spilled food up to the restroom If you must come here - do not forget your shower shoes - there are showers, but ewwww; bring some kind of shade, and for sure, bring one of the net tents to store your food or to picnic under - the insects are relentless. There is a Walmart on the "backside" of the park, but be prepared to wait in line to get back into the park if you leave to get more ice or some such. read more

My family and I have been camping here for many years. This recent camping was a disappointment. The campground didn't seem to be too concerned about the people who were camping and the amount of vehicles parked in spots and especially the way an RV was parked blocking the path way. There were trash everywhere, junk, kids smoking and partying in girl's restroom. I know people were celebrating graduation and family reunion, but come on! Is this how you live at home? My little girls couldn't even use the restroom or take a shower. Ugly situation! Cars speeding through the path way; no concern for little kids playing around. Cars were parked on both sides of the path way making it hard to get out with your boat. A lot more to write .... I just can't even believe no popo around for speeders on the road, they were even chasing someone in the campground. Yikes! What happened to the family quality time at Lake Perris Campground? I camped here over the weekend and every worker (except the lady at the marina store) was not friendly or inviting at all...this was my first time here in about 10 yrs. We had fun camping and enjoying the out doors but staff should take some customer services seminars or training, if you were a camper and arrived later then the rest of the group they gave you a hard time, if you were just coming for the day with campers you had to park at the marina until 11 because they needed to "check inventory" I was at the site the whole time no ever came by to check anything! They were pulling people over left and right and annocing quite time at 10pm on the dot and making more noise then any of the other campers..I understand rules but the staff should also understand families going to have a good time..will probably never camp here again but will try to see if spending the day at the lake is any different. read more

My brothers and I went camping here last weekend (1-22-14) and it was a great experience! It was my first time camping there even though I've fished there more times than I can recall. The price was great at $25 a night! And each car after was only $10 (up to 3 cars per site). The campground was nice and clean. They had a fire pit / bbq grate for cooking. The fishing was terrible even though that had recently stocked with rainbow a week or two prior. My brother caught about a 1 1/2lb rainbow but other than that we got skunked!! Speaking of skunks there is a pretty big one that roams around so WATCH OUT!!! I will definitely return for more camping, drinking and fishing!!! read more

I drove to Lake Perris this morning 13 June, 2013 to check out the camp sites for a future visit. Being a Thursday morning there was no wait at the entrance. I pretty much drove into each beach, picnic and boat launch area. I love that you can drive right to the waters edge at one of the spots (Sail bay?) The camping section has a ranger station/check in and the older gentleman working there let me check out the spots and even handed me a map so I could circle the ones I like. There were a few families setting up sites for the weekend. The tent areas all seemed pretty nice, the park is kept clean. The area I didn't like was the RV area with hook ups...it looked like extra wide parking spots and for $45/night I would save the fee & fuel and sleep in my driveway. It is super dry (being summer in the desert and all) but the park area around the lake is lush green grass and plenty of shade trees. I will certainly come back (mid week) but doubt I will ever stay a weekend. read more

In the past I read a ton of bad reviews about this park, but I must say I enjoyed my time at the camp. There were no bugs ( maybe because it was cold when I went) the restrooms were maintained very well, and the park rangers patrolled the site very often. With that said there are some cons too; kids running around unsupervised, people smoking weed, and loud people. In my opinion it was a good experience an I really enjoyed myself. It was my first time camping and overall my fiance and I had a good time. I would come back again. The bathrooms were ok and not a far distance from our tent. We had a big space for just us two and wished we brought more things to enjoy, so bring your toys and hammock etc. It was a gloomy weekend and the only bugs i saw on more than one occasion were the fire ants and flying bugs. you should be fine if you bring bug repellant to spray on the ground and bug candles. Also, you may want to carefully check the picnic tables because there was a black widow living in ours. You should cover the table with a cheap plastic table cloth so you're more comfortable. Other than the normal bug issues you experience in nature, camping here was fun. Though you can hear your neighbors, it wasn't obnoxious or annoying for us that we couldn't sleep or felt like we didn't have any privacy. My tip would be to bring lots of firewood and have lighter fluid in case! read more

This lake sucks. The water patrol harass you like crazy. i went over the speed limit w/o knowing on my jet ski. This was my first time at this crappy place as well. The signs were small, the stupid patrol only gave me one warning and later when a friend took off with the jet ski they supposedly gave us 3 warning which was only 1 and they told us to either park the jet ski or get a ticket. We never rode it again because we were scared of getting a 300 dollar ticket. I wouldnt go back here again. read more

I seriously wonder whether all these nitwits writing 1 star reviews for how dirty the water is and how dirty and disgusting the beach and bathrooms were, were actually at Lake Perris and possibly at another lake mistakenly. Today was my 1st day at the lake and it was beautiful and relaxing. to start, the frint gate girl was friendly and helpful and gave suggestions as to where was the best earas to go. next, the parking lot was spotless and pretty empty. The bathrooms were nothing special but ive seen worse at a popular beach bathroom. My wife said some TP and some clothes were littering the floor in the corner of the ladies room, but she too said it was no biggie. Next, the beach and sand was spotless!! i found one starbucks cup rolling around in the sand and i myself picked it up and threw it out. The sand was great (other than being nuclear hot!!) and it was fine. The Water? perfect!!! spotless and virtually CRYSTAL CLEAR!!! i was in the water up past my waist and i could see every shell on the lake bed floor and see all my toes like you would in a pool. All day long, the water was perfect temperature and calm, obviously. i went out to where i could barely touch the ground and it was still nothing but clear water, and nothing but sand and pebbles on the lake bed. i dont know what everyone was talking about with all the seaweed, algae and green slime. The whole place was not very crowded at all and it was like we had a whooooole park of the lake to ourselves. the air and water smelled perfectly fine. it was relaxing, calm, serene and we cant wait to go back there again! oh, and there were lifeguards there who were attentive and alert and even watched one of them run across the beach to investigate a potential victim. everything was fine, and then she ran back to her post and was incredibly professional and i felt VERY safe with her, or any of them around me. so overall, there are a few complaints posted here from others that this park wasnt relaxing and empty on the Fourth of July Weekend....c'mon, people. wake up. where the heck can anyone go for peace n quiet n relaxation at a public park on the Fourth of July!!!!!! thats the last day id ever go there!! I totally loved it there and have already told a few friends that this is the place to go if youre tired of the beach n waves n salt water. Rock on Lake Perris!!! read more

Has trees for shade for your tent or chairs. Arrived Friday and saw the bathrooms were cleaner than beaches but by Saturday it was filthy. Dead roach in the sink and tissue all along the floors. Only two showers in the restroom . The first one has more light but only cold water. The second with the not much light has hot water but many more bugs for some reason. A park security came to us to turn down our music yet we had nothing on it was the people next to us. He then got in his car and left, not even talking to who was next to us which didn't make sense. No music after 10 but no one abides by that and they should. At 11:20 at night no one should be blasting music especially if your a far walk away and I can still here it. 08/2018 read more

Beautiful lake. Not crowded. We started off by the boat launch and walked a quarter mile north along the shore. Plenty of shore access. Unfortunately we didn't catch any fish and I didn't see anyone else catching any either. read more

Went on a Wednesday during summer break. Got on the water before 12noon. Water was smooth and great temp. Had a great time swimming with the kids and driving the boat around the lake. It was quiet and the girls loved building sand castles along the shore, looking for minnows and spotting cool birds. read more
