Lake Pflugerville has been a consistent place I visit since moving here in 2015. I've always felt safe; it's always clean, and I love that a portion of the lake is marked for swimming. (Both human and doggo) I would eventually love walking lights along the trail on the ground, especially when walking around the houses. It gets so dark back there - again, I've always felt safe - but it would be nice to have it a little brighter back there. read more

I saw this body of water while driving past and pulled over. I don't know how many miles this is, but it's a big loop around. I walked a little, then sat down near the water, admiring the scenery. It seems a lot of people come out here for a run or some form of exercise, or bring their furbabies. It is a very relaxing area, so I can see why so many people are out here on this Christmas day. I will tell you if you want to sit like me, there's plenty of sitting along the trail and at the edge of the water. Also, there's a lot of grassy area for the dogs. Oh, and the trail is more of a gravel trail instead of a pavement, so wear a pair of sturdy tennis shoes. read more

I live near Lake Pflugerville, and it's one of my favorite places for daily walks and relaxing outdoors. The lake is very well maintained, clean, and peaceful -- perfect for morning walks, jogging, or just getting some fresh air. There is a nice 3-mile loop trail around the lake that's great for walking, running, or biking. You'll often see families with kids, people walking their dogs, fishermen, and kayakers, which gives the place a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. I especially like that there is a small beach area, picnic tables, and a playground, making it a great spot for families. The lake looks beautiful year-round, and the sunsets here are amazing. The only downside is that it can get crowded on weekends, and there isn't much shade on hot days, but those are minor compared to how enjoyable it is to live nearby. Overall, living near Lake Pflugerville is a real pleasure, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful outdoor spot close to the city. read more

A really nice and simple area. I love coming here for a walk with my husband and daughter. It's mostly a gravel path but there are some cemented areas. On the weekends during the summer I think you can rent canoes. I see people swimming in this lake when the weather is nice and during the summer, but honestly, I would never swim in that lake because it's not really that clean when you look at the bottom of the lake. They do have some bathrooms and some covered areas. I would say it's also dog and kid friendly, but you have to have a leash on your dog. There's parking along the side or they have an actual parking lot near the main entrance. I love coming here on a nice day when there's a nice breeze read more

Lake Pflugerville is a well-maintained place to be active and take in the lake scenery. Disclaimer that right now, the lake levels are quite low, so some of the on-the-lake opportunities are not available (boating, fishing, etc.). However, the path is still open and it's about a 3-mile single lap around the lake. It's great for walking, jogging or biking. The trail itself is well maintained. There's ample parking near a playground area - and when the water levels allow, a boat ramp. It's great to have a setting like this to get some fresh air and fitness in! read more

I don't know who like it more me, or my dog! This is my favorite place to walk my best friend and also my most challenging place for outdoor runs. There's always people fishing, biking, running, playing In the sand or sitting on the benches. There are no restrooms around the park, so plan to commit to the 3mile walk around until your next potty break. My dog is always intrigued by the ducks swimming around and gets very close to them as they are gentle and friendly. Very peaceful and quiet. I absolutely recommend catching a sunset there, beautiful view! Plenty of parking around the park and at the main entrance, lots of room for picnics in the shaded area, clean bathrooms and trash cans conveniently placed along the trail. Go get some fresh air. This place has an approximately 3 mile loop around a body of water. The trail itself is primarily gravel / dirt, with minimal trees or shade, and plenty of wind (especially on the south and east sides) and plenty of sunshine. There are several parking lots around the lake with access to the trail. The main lot is gated. The trail can also be accessed from a few of the adjacent neighborhoods. There are a couple of murals on the ground, and some benches dot the trail. Quarter mile marker stone stakes also make their presence known along the perimeter. Came here for the first time with my family and friends. We had a huge get together along the beautiful lake. We were conveniently near the patio and clean restrooms. There is a paved trail all around this small lake. It appears that you can rent a paddle board, but it was closed on Sunday. People were fishing along the several docks that they have there. The lake water was clear and safe to swim in. We felt safe there because they also have police officers patrolling the area. Although, we did encounter one of them on a Polaris cart and he was super rude and arrogant. There's a small turnaround to unload your vehicles and a nearby parking lot. read more

This is one of my favorite spots to visit with my husband because you cannot only swim here, but also walk around the entire lake to get your steps in. There is a beachfront area that can get a little bit noisy at times. But that's fine because I'll swear around the lake there are a little nooks and cute picture areas where you can go to get some peace and quiet. This is fantastic for picnics, riding on a kayak, or having barbecue with friends. My only gripe is that I wish there were food trucks. I think having a small food truck area would be really beneficial given the audience that tends to come to this lake. read more

Lake Pflugerville is a great place to get outside! I love walking my dog here as there are many other dogs (on leash), birds, turtles, and people to watch. The graveled path is clean and well-kept. And in the summertime, many people like to take their boats out to fish or just to float and enjoy the water. It does get pretty dark once the sun sets so be prepared with a flashlight or headlamp. The nearest ocean is 200 miles/ 3 hours away. And it's like 100+ degrees every day in the summer now. So it's nice to have a place to cool down with a beach vibe in central Austin, despite it being small and man made. Aside from the "beach", there's water sports, fishing, and jogging trails. With that said, manage your expectations..this is central Texas after all, and not Florida! There are multiple entrances with parking though the sandy area is on the east side only. It's free at the moment but given time, I'm sure they will start charging like with everything in the Austin Area. Anyways, I'm happy to have this as an option. read more

What's not to love? The park at Lake Pflugerville is fantastic for a family-friendly day on the water, without the noise and danger of powerboats and jet skis you'll get on Lake Travis. Oh yeah, and if you like to walk, run, or cycle on trails, Lake P-ville has you covered with a 5k (3 mile) crushed granite loop with quarter mile markings around the lake. Shade is very limited, so wear a hat or get here early in the morning to miss the brutal summer sunshine. Fishing enthusiasts may catch largemouth bass, white crappie, channel catfish, or bluegill here. There are submerged trees and artificial reefs installed in the lake to make these fish happy. Construction of the 180-acre reservoir began in 2005 and was completed in 2006. If you're wondering what the beach is like here, that's what I'm here for! This beach is about 20-30 mins from downtown Austin, and it's actually not too bad. It's built to be like a beach with tons of water and a big beach area. You can bring your own tents, grills and even paddle boats. There's a kids play area near by and you can rent a few recreation things as well This beach is definitely not a "sandy" beach like what you would think. It has a ton of rocks and can be uncomfortable for some. The water also isn't crystal clear. If you go on weekends, this place can get busy with families and young kids. read more

Cute walking path around Pflugerville lake. Great for early morning or early evening walks but beware! There is basically no shade so larger up that sunscreen! Along the lake are places to fish, a playground, a "beach front" and open grass area for family picnics. It's a nice canvas to bring your own fun. You can kayak or paddle board on the lake as well but, personally, the water looks a bit gross. read more

This lake is nice for the area but additional trees for shade, picnic tables and benches would really help with the volume of people who come to this lake after 5pm. During the day it isn't crowded but it's overly packed after work hours. Lately there are random clothing items discarded throughout the trail, trash everywhere even though there are trash cans, trash in the lake, etc... If only people would clean up after themselves. If you want to visit this lake and actually enjoy it without hearing vulgar language, being exposed to people smoking weed and having poor character it's best to come during the day. Also I'm not sure if some people are aware but I've seen alligators in this lake. I wouldn't swim in it or sit so close to the water like I've seen so many people do. read more

The lake is pretty close to our house and we don't go there frequently enough. Now that the weather is cooler, I'm hoping to go there a few times a week. They're redoing the main parking lot and expanding it though so you'll have to park on the sides. I think they get really busy on the weekends but we like to go mid week when we do go. It's a nice walking path and I enjoy that there's a play area, picnic areas, fishing areas, beach area, etc. for such a small little lake they have something for everyone. read more

I met Yelper Shannon B here as part of a very small, unannounced ROTDC. Not much to add to her detailed review of the amenities, except a few personal observations. 1) The trail is very well marked in terms of distance, which was a great benefit (in knowing how much farther I had to drag myself back to the car). 2) The trail follows the shoreline of the man-made lake. That makes it always a Kodak moment, but it also adds to the humidity of the day. But beware it also means there are no ways to shortcut the path home if needed. Also, roughly one quarter of the trail abuts nearby residences that are fenced off. Therefore the only two ways home are to finish the course or go back the way you came. 3) I love the number of fishing piers. It's a great way to enjoy the lake, fishing or not. Finding an empty pier to experience fish-ogling is a joy. There are plenty of minnows and smaller fish to see. Just beware the rogue kayaker with a rod and reel who will deliberately paddle across the lake and try to drive you off with a close cast. SPLASH! 4) Most of the trees are willows, which is to say there's not much shade along the way. Be sure to lotion-up because it's a full-sun experience, and less pleasant the later you are after 8a. 5) There are some established trails up the side of the dam facing Weiss. Great cardio challenge if you're up to it. Interestingly, there are no rules prohibiting walking on the dam. All-in-all, a very pleasurable experience, made even better with the company I kept. This is a very beautiful park that has a walking trail and benches. There is grass for the dogs and lots of trees. The lake view is very pretty too. It's a nice place to relax and unwind. I recommend coming here with your dog or children. The only thing is there aren't any bathrooms. Only disgusting port o potty's. So make sure to go before you come. read more

Great find for me! If you are training for a 5k then this is the place for you! The full circuit around the lake is 3.4mi according to MapMyRun. The track around the lake is all gravel, but there are pulloffs for benches, mini-docks, and piers. There is a kayak rental place (it was closed when I was there on a Tues afternoon) and a swimming beach. They have a few covered picnic tables and a restroom and a little playground for the kiddies. The only thing about the park is if you intend to do the full circuit, pee first as there are not restroom facilities around the lake, only at the main eastern entrance. Also, be sure to bring lots of water and sun protection as there is absolutely no shade to speak of on the trail, not joking, not even a tree! It is super windy as well, so if you don't want it to fly away, strap it down! But, the walk I did was nice and I took my time as some vistas across the lake are very pretty and you can see some interesting wildlife. I saw two HUGE birds that I assume are falcons flying and they were so majestic! Also, saw the biggest turtle that I thought was one of the huge rocks in the shore until it scuttled into the water. The ducks are great entertainment as well. Looking forward to making this my daily walk! read more

Whether you choose to stay by the shore and just walk, run, bike or fish... or perhaps go out kayaking, paddle boarding, or even wind surfing this is a beautiful and serene location. Good 3 mile trail around the lake. The trail is well maintained by the city, but unfortunately, the water is super low! There are piers that are standing by themselves. Hopefully that will change soon. I must come here to excercise at least 2 times a week and see alot of people fishing. I do not really see anyone catching anything though. Simply disgusting. This "body of water", hardly a lake, is full of weed, mucky water, and zebra mussels. It reflects an incredible level of incompetence by the city. Short of being on fire, there is no way I'd get in this water to paddle or swim. The lack of management by the city has also made this venue a nuisance for the people who live nearby. I willingly drive somewhere else for SUP and kayaking. read more
