My partner and I were looking to get our sod done in April 2025. We stopped by Lake Ridge Nursery (after Lowes and Home Depot), who happened to be almost 3X the amount. After speaking with the lady up front (I believe it was the owner Donny's wife, but not 100% sure) she talked us into using their services because she convinced us that their sod was locally grown and they had expert installers. We spend almost $1,000.00 and they came by the next week. Everything seemed to be ok after they left, but less than a month later, the sod stared to brown. MULTIPLE requests (including text messages, phone calls and visits to the store) and months later Donny finally agreed to replace the sod. NO notification that they were coming, I got a knock on my door the last day of October (7 MONTHS later) they were there to replace the sod. In the middle of the guys replacing the sod, Donny (the owner) literally pulled up in front of my house, got out and screamed in front of my entire neighborhood how he didn't think my sod actually needed to be replaced and to "never effing call him again" (Yes I have it all on video if anyone is interested). After an altercation, he trespassed me from his store. Nice way to deal with a customer that only wanted to get what he paid almost 3X what he should have from a local business. read more

Everyone is so friendly and good customer service. I came to buy a tree from the Christmas tree lot. I really like to v walk around the boutique because there is an excellent potpourri of various gifts and products to choose from. It's so nice they have a dedicated traffic light because it feels safer turning in and turning out. This place is absolutely horrible. I stopped by today with my 5 year old daughter to get pumpkins. I walked past 2 employees outdoors and neither greeted me. After browsing pumpkins we decided to check out the inside. My daughter picked up an item and the woman behind the register immediately yelled at her to put it down. That is no way to speak to a child. Not sure if it was because we were black or she was just extremely rude. I felt so uncomfortable that I decided being in that extremely overpriced store wasn't worth it. So, we go back outside and pick 4 pumpkins and take them to the outdoor register. A young girl appears and I tell her we are ready to pay. She tells me the outdoor register was closed and that I needed to walk all 4 of my huge pumpkins inside to pay. WHAT! ABSOLUTELY no customer service skills. Not sure if it's just the staff or racism but being African American at this place gets you nothing. Stay far far away. Saddens me that my 5 year old had this type of experience given the current world climate. read more

What a lovely store! I live in the area and NEVER stopped. I musta passed here thousands of times. Their spring, summer and fall flowers always looked lovely, but it wasn't until I needed a small bundle of firewood that I dropped in. It's actually hard to find GOOD wood in this area. Their firewood is good quality, ready to burn. The lady helping me also through in some small kindling pieces also. I only purchased a small bundle to the equivalent of what you would get from a grocery store, but they sell by the pallet which is about 1/4 cord for $100.00. Delivery is $30.00. I will make a pallet purchase eventually. The store itself even though it's off season in January is very quaint- like a cottage feel. Can't wait to visit this spring! read more

The lady who's the head person here is extremely rude. Not sure it was due to our race or what but she had a poor attitude towards my wife and I right after she got done helping another customer who she was extremely friendly towards. The other customer was a white lady and we are brown. We will not be going back here and do not recommend any other brown people to go here. Not to mention everything is extremely expensive. You can go to Home Depot or Lowe's for $14 boxwood and here it's $70+. I asked the lady if they had any other evergreens and she replied there are others in a rude way? yes there are others if you don't have them just state that without getting condescending The lady here does not like children and was extremely rude towards my 3 year old little girl. I pass this nursery daily on my way to work. We are on the search for a dwarf peach tree so we decided to stop in and see what they have. I was honestly blown away at how expensive the pricing is here. Hanging plants overpriced. We didn't find a peach tree so we ended up getting a few vegetable plants and left. Overall super disappointed with the pricing and didn't look like they had any specials either. Didn't have a large range of fruit trees either. read more

We've been buying our Christmas tree here for a number of years. I just wanted to write because the tree we purchased most recently was so fantastic. Thanksgiving was early, so we bought our tree very early in the holiday season as well. November 23. I honestly could not believe that tree lasted until we took it down January 5th. Very few needles falling out until the end, and the tree smelled so good I left it up longer than I normally do. I'm sure this isn't the most inexpensive place to buy your Christmas tree, but I've always found the price well worth it. Great selection, attractive trees. There's always a group of young guys to cut the tree, wrap it up and put it up on the car. Friendly staff inside, hot chocolate and cookies for the kids and a free poinsettia to take home as well. Lake Ridge Nursery has become part of our holiday tradition. read more

This review is for the pumpkin patch. First, I found the staff was not very pleasant. I don't think they wanted to be there. I'm very disappointed the price to play in the bounce houses go up the last weekend before Halloween, just price gouging in my eyes and you can't just leave because your kids were looking forward to going and I can't do that to my kids. Also, they really only have very large heavy pumpkins to choose from with their $0.69 per lbs price. We walked around trying to find the smaller pumpkins and felt that we did and they were 16 and 18 lbs. The bounce houses were very crowded and there is no supervision by the staff to limit the number of kids in the houses so play at your own risk for sure especially if you have little ones. For the short amount of time we spent there and the small selection of heavy pumpkins I feel very ripped off. I will definitely not be back next year. Lesson learned. The best part was the play area not the bounce houses. They have really cute structures like a ship, castle, airplane, fire truck and a couple others made out if wood with swings and slides. My kids loved them. And the free ice cream but not the lady the served it. read more

I went there because of the free landscaping estimate sign on the road. I took the day off to meet the owner because he does not do weekends for estimates. He arrived early to the appointment and after just a short time and even before my appointment time started, he said he would send me something from our discussion and he had another appointment , so he must leave. This was in May and no a word from them. I called and left my information about not being sent the plan and estimate, but still have not received a call. My budget plans were in the thousands, but after this type of service, why would I give this local guy a chance to earn. I will find another nursery who I can trust and use for the future. The other reviews surprised me when I read them before I met the owner, wasted a leave day and got no where, now I believe them. Stay away..... read more

My boyfriend and I went here on the recommendation of a family member but were woefully disappointed. Despite taking a wonderful tree home, the customer service was awful. We spent over $200 in purchases here (tree plus gifts) only to find out that they don't do returns. They have two small signs up that designate this- on ONE register and behind the counter. But, if you check out from the side register you can't see any signage. After I pointed this out- they got snarky with me. They said it was printed at the bottom of my receipt. To which, I calmly pointed out that wouldn't have helped me before I made purchases. They then kept telling me no exceptions and that I should just keep looking around. I will be sure to never recommend them. To add to my aggravation I tried to make a return with the same woman who checked me out- and it was less than 24 hours! Also, be aware that if you don't like animals this is not a place for you. They let their dog and cat run free on the property despite being on a busy road. read more

You could get lost in here it's wonderful being able to walk around all the flowers there's no entry fee and the workers are pretty friendly. The shopping site is cute and has lots of little knickknacks and vases to offer. The flowers are gorgeous and look like they are well-maintained it appears to be a very nice place the prices are average for what I have found. Pros: 1. They will have what you need. Hands down, the best variety of plants and supplies in the area. 2. The staff is very knowledgeable and nice. 3. Less crowded than going to the big hardware store garden centers. Cons: 1. They are EXPENSIVE. I've seen peony plants for more than double what you would pay elsewhere, though their plants are extremely good quality and often budding and in bloom. 2. It gets crowded--best to go early in the morning or later to avoid the rush and cramped walkways. Bottom line, come here if you're looking for something hard to find or just want to get everything purchased at once without shopping around. read more

Cox Farms is $20! Do yourself a favor and make the drive. Also, the jaded lady at the front desk that speaks to children as if they are morons (Sat Oct 5 at 3:30p) needs new job! If you don't know how to speak to children in a respectful manner don't work in an environment with kids! It's not always what you say but how you say it! And let's START by saying HELLO before you tell them that this is the probably the last year they'll be able to come here bc of their height. If you have 2 or 3 yr olds you will be fine. Any age above 3.... do not recommend!!!! I've always been happy with the service an quality of merchandise (plants) here. PROS: - Amy is a real gem, she is fantastic with everything related to gardening, and I learn something new every time I talk to her about a new plant. - They have a good selection of plants, many that you can't find at larger chain stores. Shop early in the season if you're looking for something specific. - They also don't use bee-killing pesticides (like the big box stores)! - During the holidays, they have a free sitting with Santa (no line when we went)! Hard to beat that. We also always get our tree here and enjoy the free hot cocoa and the 'hunt.' - They have a fall festival with various blown up moon-bounce play areas. And pumpkins (they are pre-cut, but still a ton to look at and pick from). CONS: - They are more expensive than big box stores, but their assortment of plants and expertise more than makes up for it. - The inside feels cluttered with non-plant related gifts - it's a separate 'gift store' but when buying plants, you usually have to go inside to pay. It's hard to take the kids inside to pay sometimes, too many things to touch! - Echoing other reviews of poor customer service, despite being a regular customer and known by some of the staff, the owner seems to not want to go out of her way to help or be friendly. At. All. Not a deal breaker (but taking off one star) -- they do have plenty of others to help the customers. My 7 year old insisted that I write a Yelp review. Lol. Our family enjoyed the fall celebration at Lake Ridge Nursery. We visited just yesterday. The bouncy houses were cool. The staff was engaged and attentive. The price was reasonable for a day of fun. It's fun, festive and lots to do. Loved the nerf range (if that's what it's called). These guys worked so hard. I'd been unable to keep up with my yard and handling landscaping following hip surgery. They got rid of weeds, removed old plantings, laid weed fabric, mulch, cleaned up. They may be a bit more expensive but well worth it in my experience. Through email, using pictures I provided, they gave me an estimate, plant recommendations, and design drawing. I googled the plants and gave my choices. They showed up and worked throughout the day with great results. Even mulched around trees and cleared leaves that weren't part of the job. Nice shrubs, however check Meadows Farms Home Depot and Lowe's before Lake Ridge Nursery for reasonably​-priced, healthy trees, annuals and perennials - especially if you plan to install the tree yourself as Meadows Farms, Lowe's and Home Depot offer a 1-year grow guarantee. On your own after buying from Lake Ridge unless they decide to bend the rules. Mixed review on staff, some are awesome and knowledgeable​ but avoid the rest - trick is identifying who to avoid because it's 50/50. Low expectations and hope for the best. read more

Expensive prices and rude service. I wouldn't have bothered to write a review about them, but the young man who worked there was rude to my four-year-old. We had to pay $12 on a non-holiday weekday for entrance to the fall pumpkin patch/bouncy house "fun land". I asked the young man which way to the bouncy house area, he sneered "it's outside." Well, yes, I got that part, but maybe a "oh it's just out those doors to the right" or something more helpful/less cranky would have been appreciated. The bouncy house play area was dirty and a bit boring. The entrance fee comes with an apple or an ice cream. After waiting for several minutes the same young man came over to help us. (Keep in mind this is a non-holiday Monday. The place was not busy). My daughter held the ticket out to him and asked for an ice cream, please. He stood and glared as if he didn't understand her so I said the entrance fee comes with ice cream or I guess an apple right? He scoffed and said, Yeah an apple, brushed past me and my daughter holding her ticket and went to get the ice cream. A female employee came over, said something to him and then he left. She got the ice cream for my daughter and was pleasant, but overall, a creepy, unnecessarily unpleasant and not-worth-the-time-or-money experience. (I did browse in the gift shop and at the flowers. All nicely laid out but very expensive, so with the strange and rude service, there's really no incentive for us to return.) read more

DO NOT GO HERE! My family went here on a Friday night with 40 minutes left until closing. The woman who checked in my family was very rude. My brother is 4 and my sister is 1- can't even walk yet. The woman says that she is charging them for the baby, but my mother got upset because the baby can't even participate in any of the activities- she was just there to watch my brother have fun. The woman then says that they are not allowed to put the baby down at all not even for pictures. She says, "If you put the baby down at all, I'm kicking you out." Seriously? I can't believe the kind of service they are giving. I thought this place was going to be so fun for everyone, but that kind of service ruined our experience. read more

I have to admit... this nursery have some very nice plants and the gift shops have many unique gifts. Most of the employees there are knowledgeable and friendly. It is a bit expensive but the owner hire many people to take care of the plants. I have been there quite many times just because it is near my home. I don't mind to pay a bit more for the quality of products I'm getting and the convenient of location. The only issue is there is this older thin lady.... she is not very friendly with kids. I go there with my toddler a few times. Let's be honest, kids are active and curios. He went behind the counter, she was scouting at him. He was then pointing to the owner's dog, again, with a mean tone "you can't pet the dog." One time my son went to the other side while I was looking at some plants. He wasn't far from me, she came over with an angry tone, & told me I have to watch my child. I like this nursery but I'm just uncomfortable when I see her. Please show some loving to children. I came here for a shopping/networking event. I walked into the small shop and thought that I would have to come back as they had some very cute gift items. When I was ready to leave the event my car had been totally blocked in by two other vehicles and I couldn't leave. I went to ask for help and a tall gentleman said he would help me and be right back. Well, he turned out to be the owner and he NEVER came back and apparently he left to go to a basketball game. I went back out to ask for help and spoke to a woman who was not even remotely apologetic and did very little to assist. In total I waited for over ONE HOUR for help finding the people who were blocking my car in. You would think at least someone would offer me a discount or maybe a glass of water but the only people who really gave a rip were the two kids that were helping out with the parking. I vote to promote them to management as they were great. To top it off, I was parked so close to the bags of mulch that every time I got out of the car to try to see if there was any progress being made I had to come out the passenger door. If this is how an OWNER treats potential customers than I think it is safe to say- don't take your business here.. read more

They are over priced. And there landscape department is terrible. They do not know what they are doing. They did this job with ground cover and put weed barrier down. This ground cover shoots runners under the ground and helps it spread. Well not with this job. When contacted them and they blew it off and said it was right. Even after a horticultural expert said so and information on the plant said do. They won't fix it and I wouldn't have them cut a leaf off of my dogwood. read more

I planned on spending the evening here with the kids and eating dinner here since they grill hamburgers and hotdogs. The entry was $30 which is already $10 too much (for two kids) but the buyers remorse set in when I attempted to order food and was told that they were out of hamburgers and hotdogs and would not be grilling because they close in an hour. Also the girl who helped us at the mineral mining station pretty much rushed my two daughters through the whole process so she could get back to socializing which was annoying. I will not be coming back here which is unfortunate because my kids and I have been coming here for the past few years. I guess some things just go downhill. read more

Every year this place gets more expensive and yet they still use the same rotting playsets of wood and moon bounces that are taped and faded. For $15 dollars we got splinters and dirty looks from employees. Oh and for $2 I got a Dixie cup of melted ice cream with no toppings. Don't think we'll be coming back. read more
