Your time starts when the first ball rolls down the alley. They got an upgrade to the modern scoring systems and the lanes are in great shape. Plenty of shoes available and lots of balls. Recently (june 2026) we tried Monte Bianco again. The place is even more rundown. The room smelled a little musty and under the carpet, the floor seemed soft like there might be rot. The mattress was comfortable, but sheets are polyester and tangled my hair. The room was uncomfortably hot on a warm night. Really these rooms are too small for a queen bed. There's only one uncomfortable chair, no table. There's a useless chest of drawers that's too wide for the space and who's going to unpack their suitcase for one or two nights? I took photos of the peelling paint job on the door's exterior, and the broken bedside lamp. The dome light on the ceiling - right over the bed - was painfully bright and since the bedside lamp didn't work the first night, we were stuck using that. In the bathroom, there were not enough hooks to hang up things like towels, a bathrobe, or a toiletry bag. The shower has plenty of water, but the pressure blasting out of the spigot is really harsh. They would benefit from adding some kind of shutoff or flow adjustment valve, both in terms of guest comfort and water usage in a drought-prone area. The "Garden" is a patch of weeds. I do not mean wildflowers. I mean weeds growing up through gravel, some sad chairs, an ashtray, and a cornhole setup. The parking lot is also weedy. Parking is, as other guests have mentioned, odd. I wouldn't want to park there in the snow because of the way the stairs are set up as a tripping hazard, with the rooms opening out directly into the weather with no overhang. As I've mentioned in a prior review elsewhere, this place might feel like a luxury for someone's who's been hiking the PCT, but it was not comfortable or particularly worth the money despite the budget pricing. I think the owners should REALLY talk to a consultant or designer about laying out the rooms for better efficiency and guest comfort.

Before you book here then get all sad later because it wasn't what you are usually accustomed to, read a few reviews and decide if this is your cup of tea. When I searched up a place to lay my head earlier this week I wanted to stay in the sweet new place downtown with the clean pretty people and the baked goods and coffee downstairs. But I was only going to be in the room to sleep and I was alone and even though I love me some pretty people watching I decided to sleep here instead and have coffee and baked goods over that other way in the morning. Because there are no baked goods at Mt. Bianco. There isn't much of any amenity, actually, other than the staples - an abundance of fluffy towels, a comfortable bed and comfortable pillows (why so often the latter is overlooked places I have zero idea - but pillows are clearly important here), a TV that generally works but it's small, an AC unit I didn't try, less than a 10 minute slow walk downtown for vittles and wildlife. Price point is half what Best Western wanted and a fraction what the new clean trendy place downtown was looking for (truth be told, I will stay there one day when I'm in the company of the one that grooves on the abundant amenities). This place works. It's simple. The lockbox key and texts to instruct/affirm are straightforward. It's old school and sometimes when the time is right old school is precisely what gets it done.

This past summer we visited Mt. Shasta Hatchery for the first time on their Free Kids Fishing Day…read more What am amazing experience! The Department of Fish and Game provided free rental poles, bait (worms and power bait), a link to hold the fish, then bagged and iced the fish to go when guests were done. The was a 3 fish limit per child and the ponds were so stocked the kids caught their limit within an hour. Growing up in a family that loves to fish, I appreciated this event as it gave the kids the opporunity to really learn how to fish on their own and they didn't have to wait too long before catching their first fish. Also, there were plenty of volunteers available to help bring fish in with nets and remove hooks that were tough to remove. The rules are clear, fishing is for the kids, no catch and release, you must take what you catch and there is a 3 fish limit. We saw fish of all sizes caught and were happy with what we got. The Mount Shasta Hatchery is also a great place for kids to learn about the fish life cycle, see them at different stages of life and feed the fish. Next time we visit, we hope to check out the museum. One thing to note is it is a very far walk in from the entrance to the ponds so get their early or be prepared to walk really far.

If you look closely, you can see scars and injuries the trout have from living together in such close proximity. Translation: Super clean and cozy rooms. Also safe and open outdoor parking. Derek is a wonderful and attentive host. Owner Brandon is a local. Most room neighbors were PCT hikers or travelers. We had forgotten wall chargers and Derek loaned us two for the kids tablets. Check out the employee owned Rays market or the cool gas/convenience station down the road. The local bakery has amazing house made bagels and breads, get there earlier than I did for the best pastry selections, or order a sandwich later. I wish I had taken some more pictures but the property is so nice and the Etna community is lovely and friendly. I hear there is a community pool across the street, but we arrived just after 7pm and weren't able to check it out. This is the second time we've been here and we'll be back!

He has no customer management experience and is easy to anger and raise his voice. When I arrived he never even gave us a welcome to Etna motel. While we had a different view of the security of my cc, he showed little respect to me as a customer and lacked curtesy. If you are willing to be treated poorly and give your business to this establishment you are the right customer for this business.

We made reservations for the park back in Nov 2025 and paid in full for 3 night, for arrival Jun…read more11, 2026. When we checked the new management said that they had no record of the reservation or payment. Checked our bank statement and couldn't find a record of payment. They did have a pull-through site for our 42' 5th wheel, however the site had overhanging branches the would not clear the top of our rig. Called the office and asked if the branches could be trimmed, or could they move us to another vacant pull- through site that were vacant close to our site. The front office lady went "ballistic" at that suggestion, and told us to get out of the park. However, the laneways were very narrow, and RVers parked front and back from our site were parked in the laneways. We asked those folks if perhaps they move their vehicles for a moment - basically told us to get lost. Fortunately with patience and help from some nice folks, we were able to extricate ourselves from the site . Took us about an hour to get out of the site, and found a nice hotel nearby. In discussion with several of the nice folks who helped us shared that they were literally scared of the managers, and that our experience was not unusual for the park. Be forewarned that not only us, but others have been horribly treated by this management.

Hot showers | train | no WiFi…read more We spent one night here on our way back to Oregon. We're in a campervan, so we booked a spot for campsite B, which is located in the back away near extra parking. I liked our spot. It has lots of shade. However, due to our location, we didn't get to connect to their WiFi because it's too far from the main office. What I liked about the campground: pool, mini playground for the kids, hot showers, activity center, shaded camp sites. What I didn't care for: trains are nearby and come frequently. We counted about 6 at night. This KOA is located next to an apartment complex. The road in is very narrow (two-way), so drivers need to be cautious, especially if you're towing. Guy at the front got jokes. This campground is well maintained.

This is a review for the Kidder Creek in Etna, CA and not for the Mt Hermon location in the Santa…read moreCruz mountains. Important to note they're different locations about 5/6 hours apart from each other which is a common mistake. I had done a lot of research prior to our recent trip (just got back a week ago) but noticed there wasn't much information about Kidder Creek in Etna especially pretty much none/minimal info online about their accommodations so hope this review will be helpful to you with your prep/planning. We just visited the Etna location with my son's troop. Had a great experience with all the fun activities they offer (horseback riding, hiking, laser tag, archery, swimming, fishing, petting zoo, zip line). The staff and counselors are great with both kids and adults. They assign counselors to each group to help as a guide throughout your time there and to connect with the kids which we really appreciated and found them really helpful and knowledgable. We also had a wonderful time of worship over s'mores each night and had ice cream the last night. They also have a snack shop right by the pond area where you can buy coffee and treats. A great experience overall. They offer different accommodations depending on what your group is looking for. We stayed in the Timberline area which includes "tent-cabins" with our own fire ring for campfire time, bathrooms, cafeteria/eating area which was really convenient. It's at the top of the hill of Kidder Creek and we either drive our own cars or ride their stagecoach down the hill for all the activities. Refer to my pic for what the cabins look like. These cabins are rustic and minimal so it's good to be prepared and set proper expectations (see below). The bathrooms in our areas have three separate areas: boys, girls and one single combined bathroom that's "adult-only" that includes a toilet, sink and shower). The boys/girls bathrooms have a sink area (girls have two sinks), four toilets and four showers. Bathrooms are equipped with hand soap and paper towels. Some tips of things to bring to help make your accommodations more comfortable include: camp chairs, portable battery pack, portable power station, foldable camp table, sanitizing wipes, power strip (if you don't bring a power station), twin bed sheets, pillow, ear plugs, sleeping bags, flashlights, an electric lantern, bag for garbage, shower slippers, personal toiletries, clothesline (to hang wet towels and swimsuits) and a about 1.5 yard of rope/parachord string. We also brought out own camping toilet since we already have it which made things a lot easier for us:) With that said, these cabins are built with just wood panels, a metal sheet cover that sits on the roof without any insulation, a roll of tarp attached on the outside that serves as window curtains and has no access to electricity and light source (no ceiling/wall lights), so similar to a tent, you can hear everything outside so bring ear plugs to help you sleep. Their windows are basically just a cut out with an open space with no frame/screens so keeping the tarp down helps with privacy and keeps some of the bugs out (they can still crawl around it since the tarps just loosely hang on the outside of the window and doesn't have a frame to seal them out) but this can also make your room very stuffy and warm. I noticed the beds in my cabin was pretty dusty and had some stains on it (therefore the sanitizing wipes and bed sheet recommendation). We went during one of the hotter weeks so our room just got very warm and stuffy at night until it cooled off briefly during the wee hours. There's no electricity in these cabins so you won't be able to plug in a fan (unless you bring your own battery/generator which you would want to do anyway if you want to charge your electronics/medical devices). They have a couple of outlets in the bathrooms and the cafeteria you can use for charging purposes but note that you'll be competing for outlets with others who may want to do the same (so therefore the power strip/power station/battery pack recommendation). I've noticed they have other tent-cabins onsite that do have window screens so you can keep your windows open at night so consider asking for these when you book to have a little more comfort. Also the tent-cabin doors here are literally just a panel of wood with an outside door handle so you can pull the door open (but no inside door handle or lock mechanism) which means the door does not close for privacy nor does it lock for security. Our troop leader thankfully was a good problem-solver and tied a rope to the outside door handle where I was able to tie the other end to the inside bed frame to keep it shut (therefore the recommendation for a rope/parachord string).
