Our family had a wedding here three weeks ago and this is a perfect location. If you have a lot of guests who plan on either visiting from out of town or just enjoying the whole family aspect of everybody being together. The location is perfect for this scenario. The wedding was hosted across the street at the golf course and my suggestion to the person who organizes both of these venues. I think you should offer golf cart transportation between the resort and the golf course. That would prevent a lot of people from taking the chance and driving that short distance while intoxicated. I noticed this first hand on several of our party goers. We had a beautiful cabin that was not on the lake, but close enough to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. I see a lot of reviews had a problem with cleanliness and honestly, we did walk in to a musty smelling cabin and dead, flying things all in the bathroom, but after doing a black light inspection of the mattress, I was reasonably assured that bedbugs would not be an issue. To me that's a big one. I highly recommend this location if you're planning a wedding at the golf course. read more

The location has potential, but our stay was highly disappointing. First and foremost, the checkout policy requires guests to wash all dishes prior to checking out. This is a major sanitation concern. IF the property thoroughly cleans and sanitizes the kitchenware between stays, this chore is an unnecessary burden on paying guests. If they do not reclean them, then the health and safety of incoming guests relies entirely on the honor system and the cleaning habits of previous occupants. It is incredibly unsettling to think the dishes we used may not have been professionally washed or sanitized. The cabin itself clearly got a "landlord special" French doors were stuck and wouldnt open. Had to call maintenance to get them fixed. The refrigerator and cabinet drawers overlap so tightly that opening the fridge makes the drawers to open, and vice versa. The fridge door is already dented, clearly from this problem. The blinds are old, broken, and don't close all the way. So we had to wake up with the sun every morning, spiderwebs in the ceiling corners throughout the cabin. For the price charged to stay here, guests should at least be guaranteed professional cleanliness. Unfortunately, this property missed the mark on all counts. read more

We have been visiting this resort for about 25 years and staying here regularly for the past 9 years. Our experience has been mixed, largely depending on the chalet. Our first stay was in a wooded chalet with no lake view. It felt more like a motel room than a resort cabin due to its size, furnishings, and overall atmosphere. It was adequate for an overnight stay, but not what we expected from a forest resort. We could also hear significant noise from neighboring guests through the walls. On a later visit, we stayed in a lake-view chalet and were blown away. The views of Lake Siskiyou and surroundings are stunning, and the chalet felt much more like a private cabin retreat. Since then, we have only booked lake-view units because the location and scenery are exceptional. The biggest issue is the inconsistency between chalets. Some have been nicely updated, while others remain very outdated. Over the years, we have encountered clogged toilets, loud furnaces, stained furniture, broken doors, inoperable windows, worn flooring, odors, and noise from shared walls. Our most recent stay in a two-bedroom chalet felt especially worn and overdue for renovation. This resort's greatest asset is its incredible setting, but all chalets should be brought up to a consistent standard. Guests should not have to wonder whether they will receive a remodeled unit or one that feels neglected. Adding hot tubs to some of the lake-view decks would also be a fantastic enhancement. We no longer dine at the restaurant after a disappointing meal. The food quality was poor, and the menu could benefit from fresher ingredients and more modern options. Overall, we continue to return because the views, lake, and mountain setting are hard to beat. With more consistent room updates and improvements to the restaurant, this resort could better match the quality of its location and earn five stars. read more

What a great place to stay. For us, cleanliness is so important. I want to feel like I can walk barefoot in the room. This place was spotless. Even the deck and deck furniture was very clean. Nice kitchen with supplies, very comfortable bed. We brought our dog and it was nice having a room that is in an area where others bring their dogs which avoids being around people who are not dog fanciers. Nice lawn area with supplied baggies. Of course, the scenery was wonderful. We attended a wedding and the food was terrific. Our family wants to come back and just vacation and relax. My only concern is with the dishes/silverware. We had to wash our own, but did the people prior to use do the same and did they do a thorough job? read more

Great resort & restaurant! I stayed at Mt. Shasta Resort in 2015 when I attended a Crones Counsel gathering there. We all loved the cabin with Lake Siskiyou in the back yard. It was roomy, clean, quiet & comfortable. Three of us shared a 2-bedroom cabin. In 2017 I moved to Weed, and started coming to the restaurant at the resort for special lunches and dinners. The wait staff in the dining room is superb. They always make us feel like family. I sat on the outside deck for lunch last summer, but the wait staff out there was not at all the same. Food was slow coming and the everything was cold when it arrived. At my request, the fries were replaced with hot fries, but we had almost finished our lunch by the time they came. The food in the restaurant has been great without exception. I always ordered the Pork Ragu for dinner until they took it off the menu. I haven't been back for dinner. When I first started eating at the restaurant, one of the waiters told me about their rewards club for locals that I joined. They send me a certificate for $10 off when I have spent a certain amount. I think it's $200 which adds up fast. They also gift me a bottle of champagne every so often. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use all the coupons quickly enough before they expire. read more

We stayed in a slow season when traveling through. They up graded us to a cabin and it was very nice. We did not use the kitchen but it was well staffed (no ice in the freezer so we filled ice trays). Bed was good. I'd add some no slip stair tread on the porch for the wet and icy season. We split a dinner at the restaurant. No bread or rolls and beware the cook likes garlic salt (way to much in the mashed potatoes)but the chicken masala was good. I bet this place is rocking in the Summer. Well decorated for Christmas and staff were very nice. It was dark and rainy so no views. Had a free breakfast coupon at Black Bear Dinner, it was the original one, staff were great food plentiful! read more

Location can't be beat...surrounded towering pine trees, right on the shore of Lake Siskiyou. The rooms are spacious and beds were comfy. The furniture in the rooms is definitely showing its age with lots of scuffs, dents and dings. The clubhouse is also starting to feel/look a bit tired. We love Mt. Shasta...I think this property is probably due for some updating. But overall, a fantastic location and good stay. read more

While transitioning from NorCal to Oregon, we wanted to cut our 10 hour drive in half so we made reservations to stay here. Please keep in mind, our stay was during summer conditions and not winter. So lets cut straight to the details: ~ Ease of getting here: Although Mt. Shasta is just scenic and you might be distracted at every turn. Getting off the 5 freeway wasn't too bad as there were quite a few signs pointing towards the resort. ~ Check-in / Staff: Checking in and out was typical and easy, so no issues there. The staff wore masks and they were cordial. I recall one of the managers play hostess at their restaurant. She also did her rounds and welcomed us while we were having dinner outside on the patio overlooking the golf course. ~ Our Cabin: As we drove towards the cabin area, away from the lobby and golf clubhouse about a quarter mile away, the parking lot was a pretty good size. It wasn't full as I did see a few small trailers, and a couple of cars with canoes. For the cabin itself, it was quaint and surrounded by large redwoods. It had the necessities; a king bed with clean sheets, a small kitchen and dining area, fairly common sized bathroom, and a large open living room. There was only one TV monitor with cable, but it was positioned perfectly above the huge fireplace. The only negatives I'd say was the furniture being a bit outdated, but no big deal. It was sort of expected. Loved the large patio, as did my little mutt. She loved relaxing out there, standing guard, and inhaling the fresh air. This cabin is great for couples, but probably more suitable enough for a family of four. ~ Onto the restaurant: First off, due to covid, our option was to sit outside in the patio area. This was fine as it was a cool summer evening. We started with the: * Brussels Sprouts ($9.99) with bacon and balsamic reduction. This was an excellent starter that really got my taste buds goin'! * Halibut VeraCruz ($30.99) which was just OK. Nothing special about it. I was hoping to see local caught fish on the menu, but I did not. This was the only fish selection other than the fish and chips. * NY Strip Steak Special with mashed potatoes and bacon wrapped prawns ($29.99, if i recall). The steak was excellent at medium-rare. Nice and juicy! While the bacon prawns were also a delicious compliment to the combo. * Both entrées came with a garden salad which was huge, and very refreshing! ~ For Take-out, we did: * Coconut Shrimp ($25.99) which was just sweet crunchy good! And also made for a tasty snack at night. * Buffalo Wings ($forgot) were GINORMOUS! I suckled on these for a while. They most likely were quickly deep fried, then placed in the oven for awhile. Tossed in that buffalo sauce, ugh heaven! Loved these! * And "thank you" Brandon (or Branden) for the Top-notch service from beginning to end! Give this guy a raise! It was my birthday and he took care of us. TL;DR The Mount Shasta Resort offers plenty of nice scenery, as well as a lovely golf course. Its located away from the main town nearby, but seems to be a good stop for folks that want a quick "get away". A relaxing cabin, fantastic service, and again a lovely golf course with beautiful scenery all around. Its probably not the best resort in the area, but would I stay here again? Hmm yes! Dedicated readers (Hi Mom!) know that I rate places based on value and expectations. So if I'm reviewing a Ritz Carlton in San Francisco, it will have different expectations than a golf resort in the middle of remote northern California. That being said, there is a lot of good things to say about the Mount Shasta Resort, but there are also some areas where the expectations should be managed. Our bubble needed to get to nature for a non-staycation and we had to have a place that 1) had its own bathrooms, 2) didn't share common hallways, and 3) had non-common air conditioning. Your Fearless Leader remembered staying here for a night in the chalets after an exhausting rafting trip on the Klamath River, and I threw this out for consideration. Yes, the chalets are a little dated. Yes, the kitchen doesn't have a dishwasher, the stove is tired, nor is there laundry in the unit, but you're in the middle of the woods, the chalets are duplexes with separate entrances, and you're looking at the charming Lake Siskiyou. None of us play golf, but we do play tennis and we were lucky enough for the restaurant to be open. Everyone was up for it. And man, did we have a blast. The chalets are on the path that goes around Lake Siskiyou, it's a great shaded walk and if you were daring you could walk to the bridge and jump off of it (we didn't). Or you could rent a pontoon boat and spend the day on the lake (we did, twice). Or you could drive for 30 minutes to the treeline of Mount Shasta and have an epic 5 mile hike with fantastic views. Each morning the kids rode their bikes on the trails, they can ride around the whole lake for miles. We always felt they were safe because they are away from the road. The trail isn't good for road bikes, but you could ride up to the mountain for an awesome climb. The restaurant food was generally quite good although the fish portions were small and the steak was not the best cut of meat. Well prepared though, and excellent service with outdoor seating. The tennis courts have one court converted to four pickle-ball courts, and I could sit and listen to those folks talk all day; they were a riot. It was sometimes challenging to serve when looking north as the view of Mount Shasta is breathtaking and just blows your hair back. In general, the staff followed COVID-19 protocols well, except I caught the reservations agent without her mask a couple of times, she was thinking the glass shield was enough (it's not). Other than that, they were compliant. Plus, the town of Mount Shasta is the perfect throwback to the 70s that is just big enough to take care of your needs but small enough to feel like a hometown and not a city. The stores had most of what was needed for the week. All this for prices that were less than the Holiday Inn Express in the Bay Area. We had a great time, one for the memory books, and it was definitely needed to get out of the house during this shelter-in-place. One of the pod had indicated he may retire here because of the beauty. That's for them to decide, but we plan on coming back, especially if SIP goes on for longer. read more

It made for an uncomfortable stay. Also, you can not access the lake from the cabin. Building a swimming dock from the cabins would be super helpful. I had my wedding here in October and I couldn't be happier with how things went. Rebecca, the event coordinator, was amazing. She was so helpful and tried to make everything as perfect and easy for us as possible. Talking with her in advance as well as during the wedding, she was nothing but professional and helpful. Our wedding went great and was beautiful, and we had no issues at all with the resort. We also stayed in a chalet for two nights, and I got my hair done at the spa there, and everything was perfect. I only wish I had more time to appreciate the chalet rather than running around being busy with the wedding! I hope to come back and stay here again in the future. Pros: We were allowed to check in very early (this made a HUGE difference since check-in is normally at 4pm, I imagine early check-in isn't granted during busy times - we are thankful but 4pm for regular check-in is way too late in the day) ***lake view*** (best part) Spacious Fireplace Deck Fully stocked kitchen Friendly staff Peaceful/quiet We didn't get massages (we will next time) but they do have a place for that. Cons: The check in/out times are indeed ridiculous (as someone else stated on here). Although they graciously allowed us to check in very early (but it was off-season), 4 pm is outlandish for a check-in time (it's getting dark this time of year at that time, which means no ability to even enjoy the view rooms. 11 am check-out is too early especially since normal check-in is at 4pm). Bathroom very outdated, gross actually, with problematic plumbing (a more modern spa-like bathroom would make a world of difference at a "resort" hotel chalet) The coffee (provided) tasted rancid The food at the restaurant is awful (but our waiter was outstanding), even though we really wanted to find the positive (as it was a birthday weekend for me and this is where I chose to celebrate with my husband) - we ate the remainder of meals elsewhere The calamari was particularly bad An overall upgrade to the chalets would make a huge impact (especially bathrooms and kitchen areas) Since the restaurant doesn't open until 11 am, some type of breakfast bar (with decent coffee) would be wonderful The restaurant even "ran out of creamer" for coffee, so the waiter brought me milk instead....how does a restaurant run out of coffee right at opening time? You'd think this basic item would be stocked before opening No pool or jacuzzi (a jacuzzi would be so wonderful over by the chalets) We don't golf, so there's not much to do. Mount Shasta is a sleepy little town with limited entertainment options, unless you have specific outdoor activities in mind, I was already aware of this (as I used to live in Mount Shasta) but don't expect anything like a Tahoe experience in this town - but my Bay Area husband was a little bored, lol. read more

We held our wedding here and it was absolutely magical!! The cabins provided enough space for guests with a beautiful view of the lake. We were within walking distance to walk down and swim with our downtime and you have a beautiful view of the mountain from the shore! We held a dinner at one of the beautiful picnic areas which were also easily accessible by the cabins. The venue itself was so crazy beautiful with the mountain in the background and the trees and ponds on the golf course. Rebecca, the venue coordinator, was sooo helpful prior to the wedding and on the day of!! The rest of the staff also were so nice and helped everything run smoothly! And the food was so delicious!! I have been here many times and I really enjoy the location and cabin feel. The only thing I can't stand are the uncomfortable beds. For the Fourth of July, they have a 3 night minimum. The rates are fair. However, I don't find value when I'm ready to leave after the first night. Nothing like tossing and turning all night because of the beds. I come up to Mt. Shasta (my home town) to relax, enjoy the lake, visit with family, and spend my money at the restaurants. I have even mentioned the uncomfortable beds to the front desk and nothing seems to change year after year. Such a shame. Skipping the 4th this year due to this issue. I may look for an Airbnb next time. read more

The course is stunning. The view of Mt Shasta took my breath away. We found a great deal on Golf Moose for $69 for two people and the cart. The course had plenary of shade. The greens were a little beat up, but not bad. The course was semi challenging and a unique layout with lots of elevation changes. There was no beverage cart service. That was disappointing as it was a very hot day. The young guy in the pro shop was not overly friendly. He didn't seem to want to be there. Why you should visit Mt. Shasta is a review on its own, but if you do happen to be here (best decision ever), this is the only place you should be staying. Not that I have ever stayed elsewhere in the area, so I do not have anything else to compare it to- but that's because it is THAT awesome. We've stayed both in a chalet with a kitchen and patio, and in a regular room, and I must say that a room is not much less comfortable than the chalet. It is spacious and has an outside back area with chairs. Fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. The rooms are also in the woods right by the lake, so it still has a very cabin-feel. As everyone already said, the location is amazing, with the lake and trail right outside your door. It is super close to Lake Siskiyou beach as well, just a several-minute drive. Customer service is great. Call them for any extra cups/coffee/toiletries/etc. and they'll bring it quickly. A few things I cannot attest to: only stayed in the summer, did not golf, did not dine at the restaurant, did not come with pets (only 2 young kids who behave like wild animals sometimes, and they were accommodated just fine). Check-in tip: if you are coming in after 9 (this was in the summer, may be different in months when it is dark earlier), call them ahead of time and they will leave your keys for you because they are not open 24 hours. read more

The chalets here have seen better days but they are comfortable enough if somewhat run down. We stayed 3 nights but were only left coffee for one morning. Close to the lake and nice and quiet. Friendly staff. The 4pm check in and 11am check out is ridiculous (don't blame it on COVID deep cleaning because they don't), especially at the premium rate they charge. We probably will look elsewhere next time we come to Shasta. read more

Had a very good dinner at the resort. I ordered the shrimp tacos, someone order the fish tacos another ordered the flank steak and lastly someone ordered the chicken with scampi. My meal was very good. The only dish that looked not perfect was the chicken with shrimp. The chicken looked over cooked and the rice looked liked it was scooped with a large ice cream scoop. The bar staff are very attentive and polite. Would definitely recommend Mt Shasta resort. read more

I am very disappointed and I am not sure what to really write. I booked a room but due to emergency reasons had to cancel, as one of my family Members suddenly had kidney failure and needs dialysis. MSR pleasantly surprised us during our stay. We had found the property on hotels.com and was the highest rated hotel in the nearby area according to their site and I'm glad we rolled the dice! My SI and I arrived a little late but the hotel called us to confirm our arrival time which made us feel good. The hotel restaurant was only open until 8PM for dinner so we called in and it was ready for us on arrival. The resort is set up as separate smaller properties of different sizes. After checking in we drove a short way to arrive at our lodge for the evening. Our room had a decent sized bathroom and a hot tub in the main room. In the morning the view of the mountain was amazing and the whole area was super quiet and relaxing. If you ever get a chance to stop by this area make sure you check out this resort for a night to disconnect. read more

Nice lodge overall with incredible views, good food and mediocre rooms. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly, but got us checked in and provided a map to get the the chalets. We stayed in a small room near the water, which I'd describe as a room, rather than a chalet. I didn't realize the rooms are about 1/4 mile from the lodge itself. Not far in the day time, but there aren't any street lights lining the path. Great for star gazing. The room felt dark and stuffy, ventilation and lighting could be improved. It seems like they tried with recessed lighting, but still pretty dark. I would have loved a big tub in the room or a shared hot tub for all resort guests. Also, golf cart rides from the top of the hill to the chalets would be a wonderful touch even if room prices had to accommodate for this. Still, the room was fine, a place to rest our heads after a day exploring. The back patio had two plastic chairs on a small concrete slab (3x5 ft or so) against a hill. The surrounding pines are pretty. There is a shortcut from the chalets to the main road at the very end (near chalets #210+) so you don't have to walk back to the spa to get to the main road. This wasn't on the map, but is pretty convenient if you're walking up to the lodge. The restaurant staff for both dinner and breakfast were very friendly and made our stay more enjoyable. The restaurant looks like a mix between fine dining and an upgraded Lyons. The food is good and was recommend by locals as one of the best restaurants in town. I would recommend the crunchy potato skins after a day out! This place has some real potential to be a 4 star resort! read more

This place is really tired and worn. A lot of things are broken or are as cheap as possible. The mini blinds, phone and kitchen faucet don't work. The refrigerator is very small and barely keeps things cold. The coffeemaker is at least 10 years old as is the barely functioning toaster. All the fixtures in the bathrooms and kitchen are old and cheap. The paper towels snd towels are the cheapest made. The beds are not comfortable. It is obvious that the owners haven't put any money into the rooms in decades. There is no housekeeping service at all. If you need towels, you can call on your cell as the room phone doesn't work, just to be asked why I need towels. The people aren't very nice snd hive the impression that guests are an annoyance. The good things are the location snd the units are big. read more

If you think you're booking a private, wooded cabin, think again. These 'cabins' are apartment complex duplexes - you're in an apartment complex environment sharing a cabin with someone else on the other side of the wall. Our bed squeaked every single time someone moved in the middle of the night, the tissue box was empty, no handsoap at the bathroom sink, and basic amenities at best overall. And they've designed their booking/cancellation policies so that you've lost at least half your money when you find all this out. This is NOT a beautiful private cabin in the woods - hope this review helps someone not make the same mistake we made. read more
