Dr. Rappaport and her assistant, Beth, have refined the drudgery of taking a kid to the pediatrician's office by cultivating a relaxed, welcoming, and warm office setting. That approach is central to their patient care. Whether it's for a yearly check-up or a sick visit--the high standards are the same. I believe Beth typically says, "when can you come in?" It's unusual in any business, let alone medicine, to find someone who looks to accommodate my schedule. Once we are there, both Beth and Dr. Rappaport take the time to listen to our concerns. They are in no hurry; I never feel rushed or flustered that I haven't had all of my questions answered. The care is exceptional. Dr. Rappaport has a common-sense approach and impeccable medical knowledge. She's never alarming, always measured, and extremely compassionate. It's clear she is not just a doctor, but also a mother, who relates easily to her patients and their parents. In addition, she has built a marvelous rapport with my boys. She has cared for them since they were toddlers--they are now very active 8 year old twins. She's as thorough with their physical exam as she is with their mental well being; dealing with topics such as bullying. She gives them (and us) clear-cut, age appropriate advise on how to deal with it. I don't typically write reviews, but I was compelled to do so in this case. This is a different style of medicine than I have ever experienced. My husband and I (first time parents) brought our six week old son to Dr. Franzia after going through two different pediatricians that provided no solutions to our problems. I called Dr. Franzia's office and was immediately set up with an appointment to see her. Within minutes of observing my son, she diagnosed him and had him on a plan to get him on the right track. My son has a milk protein allergy and acid reflux. She knew what his issues were and knew exactly how to treat them. Dr. Franzia was so positive and supportive to my family. She saw my son for the first time on a Friday and I called her crying the very next day and she was so supportive, so confident that we were doing the right thing for my son and she gave me the confidence I needed and reassured me to stick with our plan and my son would be better in no time. Dr. Franzia and her staff worked with my insurance company (we all know how annoying insurance companies are) and dealt with them to help us with prescription formula for my son because of his allergy. She wrote letters to the insurance company, answered phone call after phone call from us and them. She really goes beyond the average doctor. She is genuine and caring about children, she treats our son like she would treat her own children. I honestly can't say enough about what Dr. Franzia has done for my family. Unfortunately, our recent experience left us extremely disappointed. I called ahead to let the office know we were running a few minutes late as a courtesy. When we arrived--within what I understood to be the standard 15-minute grace period--we were told they would not be seeing us. I asked if they could make an exception, given our long-standing relationship and the fact that we did call ahead, but was told very firmly, "We only see patients who arrive on time." What was most surprising was how unprofessional the interaction felt. The receptionist told us we could sit in the lobby, but there was no guarantee when or if they'd be able to fit us in. She also stated that the decision came directly from the head doctor of the practice which was especially disappointing after over a decade of care. We understand that schedules are tight and policies are necessary, but there was no flexibility, compassion, or consideration shown--not even a reasonable explanation that we called ahead of time. It's unfortunate to be treated this way after so many years, and we're now re-evaluating whether this is the kind of practice we want to continue trusting with our child's healthcare.

In the middle of us having to pack our home to move due to the flooding I receive a letter saying (basically) I signed an agreement that I would pay the Dr. bills and I failed to do so. So, because of my tardiness of roughly about 3 months they would no longer keep my son as a patient and I needed to find him another pediatrician. Mind you, I am not trying to argue that not paying your bills is an okay thing to do, I am saying that it is a bit too much to kick a patient to the curb after a bill being unpaid for like 3 months. They sent it to collection in march and fire us as patients now we have to find a new practice after 16 years of being with this group plus I was a patient there for the first 20 year of my life. Working with a lawyer now it see if anything can be done about their unethical policy. Also let everyone know about it because they did not inform there patients of the their new policy that if you are sent to collection you will be fire as a patient even if you paid the past due bill right away.
