I have been to the rooftop patio on two occasions, late night bites with coworkers, and this past weekend with friends for pizza. Each visit contained the same two things- meh service and wind. The rooftop is a seat-yourself situation, and the waitresses are running back and forth so it is easy not to be noticed after finding a table or spot to sit at. The pizza we ordered was great and definitely something I would recommend to anyone looking to try it out. We had the Avventura and Supreme and both were hearty with ample toppings. I have never had pine nuts on a pizza before, and the roasted garlic complimented it very well. We ended up getting to-go boxes which they were rather big slices. read more

Note to self - The food was GOOD! The beers were just okay. But confirm what is on the HH menu/options. Quality/Quantity - Yes, finally made it to this location... If you are following, you know the last time we came, I did not check their hours and they were closed... My fault. Well today, only the rooftop patio was open?!?! See pictures. A private event in half the place. Then all the tables except 3 were reserved?!?! Not very inviting, even for a Wednesday. Both my buddy and I had a late lunch, not together, just coincidental. So neither of us were hungry and since we got here at 4pm, we just wanted to start with the HH beers. The waitress did not seem happy... Sorry, but many of the other tables were just drinking also?!?! After a few beers, we got the chicken tacos and dry rub wings for our appetizers/dinner. And of course, more beers. Ambiance - Beautiful rooftop patio, too bad it was so restricted today. My suggestion is to have the private events in the main dining area, or close the patio and have all the reservations and walk-ins in the main dining area. Got a space right in front, but then again, we got here right when they opened at 4pm. Service - Not sure if the waitress was new? Or just in a bad mood? She ignored us after our first beers?!?! If we would have had more attentive service, we would have drank and ate more. And when inquiring about the HH beers, with no menu, it was hard to know what was on HH or not, so I mistakenly ordered a beer that was not part of the HH options... I've been here a few times now and would definitely recommend it! The pizzas, salads, and wings are consistently great, and the patio/live music makes for such a fun vibe. The service is hit or miss, but that could be just about any place, and it was also quite busy. We shared the Dry Rub Wood-Fired Chicken Wings (5 stars), the Mora Pizza from the brunch menu, and the breakfast burrito (4 stars). This review is really about the happy hour! AleWorX Reno has a pretty great happy hour with $6 beers, $6 well drinks and $16 one topping pizzas. I really enjoy the cold IPA, it's one of my favorites in the area. Also the wood fire pizza is delicious. The patio is wonderful, but can be a bit hot in the summer if you end up in the sun. I wasn't aware that this Lake Tahoe AleWork wasn't self serve beer. That is totally fine by me. We had a good time talking with KATE, I think that was her name! She was very friendly and told us about the bands playing next-door that evening and also the DJ that was upstairs. Wow, three flights of stairs to get to the roof, fine by me, I love my exercise! Stopped in for the first time for quick drink and a bite before heading to the Aces game. We opted to sit upstairs on the patio. It had plenty of seat in and was refreshing. The staff was quick to bring us menus while making friendly suggestions. We opted for the nachos with chicken. They were huge and had all the fixings. Chips were crisp and fresh. My wife and I came in for a lunch date and had a nice easy lunch. We were hoping the rooftop patio was open since it was a beautiful day, but they hadn't yet opened yet so we sat in the main restaurant at the bar. That was actually my first time in there since we normally are on the patio, so that was nice. the bartender was friendly and quick to take our orders. AleWorx has a good beer selection, as expected, and while it looks like a pour your own tap setup, it's actually just a normal tap the bartender needs to fill that is across from the bar. This was my first time trying their wood-fired pizza. We ordered the Mora which has Blackberries as a topping and it was delicious! Of all the food items I've tried here, I think the Pizza is a standout and recommend trying as part of a meal. My only gripe about Aleworx is the parking situation. They have a lot about a block away and it's not in the greatest area so coming here at night may be problematic for some if you are alone or uncomfortable in sketchy areas. I've not had any issues but something to be aware of. We had a great visit, was happy we chose Aleworx for our lunch date and will be back on the patio soon! read more

Tried Lake Tahoe aleworx for the first time a few weekends back on a chilly Sunday with our main goal of watching football with a leisurely Sunday beer. The cocktail and beer menu was plentiful, but we were also impressed with the wonderful menu options and large woodfired oven next to the bar. We tried the nachos and wings and loved the flavors of both of the them. The wings were crispy and had an excellent, not too salty or overdone dry rub & The nachos were plentiful and a good sized portion, The building itself has been beautifully updated and opens up to the Alpine event center. We didn't venture outside or upstairs to their rooftop bar on this chili, January Sunday but looks to be a one of a kind rooftop bar in the downtown brewery District. Started off waiting for the host downstairs not knowing there was a separate host station upstairs so off we go to wait in another line. Once seated we ask what the house wine is, server had no idea, she didn't even know if the red was a cabernet, merlot, etc. Try to order a beer instead just to find out the beer selection is limited upstairs compared to downstairs, so I end up gambling with the unknown house red wine. Food was about average, nothing to write home about. My pizza came out nearly burnt, almost to the point of being sent back but the rest of the table had no complaints. The patio is a nice touch but be prepared for the typical Reno weather. It gets windy up there! Walking to the car after dinner was unsettling. Lake Tahoe Aleworx is famous for its IPA's and that's how I discovered the restaurant and event center. The Pizza and wings were excellent. The pizza comes in one size, medium which feeds 2 to 3 people. The wings came in 3 flavors Buffalo, sweet chili and barbecue. The waitress recommended to order them extra crispy. They were served super hot on the inside and crunchy outside. The area is called the Brewery District which is comprised of old Reno buildings renovated into breweries and restaurants. The area does have its share of sketchy surroundings so be alert. The service was great and friendly. The parking is street only. The roof dining area was also closed. read more

Grabbed some lunch with friends and came to Lake Tahoe Aleworx on a recommendation. We had heard the roof balcony was nice but learned there was a $5 cover charge to get up there and decided not to do it. We ordered the beer cheese nachos and a carne pizza. Both came out to the table lightning fast and hot. The pizza was great especially when paired with the ranch dressing served, and the nachos hit the spot and the cheese was excellent. The new Lake Tahoe Ale Works can be found in downtown Reno on 4th street across from the Depot. They have a rooftop bar with cozy fire pits and rocking chairs along with picnic tables, bar area for seating and wood-burning stove for pizza. We had the Italian sub no pesto and homemade chips. It was extremely tasty. We mostly enjoyed the sunshine and relaxing atmosphere. They do have a DJ on the other side of the rooftop, but we chose the quiet corner. This place is about seating with others and sharing space. Sarah & Katie were our services and they were doing a good job checking on us. They have their own parking lot on Record Street since the Reno Homeless area had which is now fenced off. I believe they moved down a few miles to the new shelter/service area. It's still has some homeless going on, but much better then before. They had staff taking care of people on the sidewalks to have them removed from the property entrance. This area is still shady, but I think it will improve overtime. I'm excited about this new place, I think it's going to be a huge asset to the area and they'll do well with the locals, UNR students, and of course the tourists. read more

We loved visiting aleworx in Tahoe and are so glad they have one in Reno now! The new location is beautiful with a rooftop that's complete with rocking chairs and fire pits. We enjoyed eating up on the rooftop with kids, relaxing in the rocking chairs and soaking up the sunshine. The building itself is in a neighborhood that is still being cleaned up but I'm hopeful that it'll be done soon. We love the tartufo pizza that has just the right amount of truffle. The crust is crispy and the flavors of the toppings all work so well together. They also have rotating taps to pair your pizza with some beer! Stopped in for early dinner on a Friday and the place was packed! Loved that they still had happy hour specials on Friday AND it went til 6pm--score! Really good deals too. Service was a little slow to start but again, packed, so nbd. We got a Cobb salad, pepperoni pizza, and sweet chili wings and everything tasted amazing. My husband did wish the wings were slightly crispier, and he said while they weren't spicy they were still good. The only bummer and reason for 1 star off was that the pizza came a good 15-20 minutes after the other items, so we were basically done before that. In addition, the pizza was for my toddler to eat--luckily he was into (barely) the wings and ham on my salad to hold him over, but it was a narrow miss if you know what I mean lol. Once it came though, it was really good and he chowed it down but the inconsistency was a little tough. I'd still recommend them and come back for another try though! A friend and I visited mid week for an early dinner. The location is quite pleasant with outside tables, trees, air and sun. We ordered and paid for both pizza and beer at the counter. Pizza was brought over by a waitress who seemed rather inexperienced (no plates, silverware, napkins - we had to ask....) Asking for a 20%-25%-30% tip just to have a pizza brought to our table is a bit much. Asking for the same tip for self-serve beer service is ridiculous. Begging for an additional 2%-3%-5%-7% on the credit card receipt is laughable. The pizza was fine. The choice of beer was very nice and the concept that allows you to choose which beer and how much you want to consume is excellent but it is SELF-SERVE. Suggestion: focus on your customers' experience instead of shaming your patrons to pay for non-existent service. read more

I could see that she was struggling. It took way too long for her to get our drink and food order. We couldn't order pizza because I feared we would be late for the show. Be no means was her fault that she was the only server. The food we had was great. I only wish French fries were on the menu and not chips. The drinks were good. Stopped into the new Lake Tahoe Ale Worx location today around 12:30 PM for lunch. We didn't know that only the brunch menu is served until 2pm on the weekends, so we were a bit bummed we couldn't get wood fired pizza which is what we were hoping for. Anyway, we ordered a beer and waters for the table. The crushable lager was light and refreshing, served very cold. Solid choice. We had to make a special request to order off of the kids menu, since it's not included on the brunch menu. The kitchen honored the request and we were able to order the kids buttered pasta as well as the chicken club with chips and the liege waffle. The waffle was tasty and the portion was average. Bacon was nice and crispy. The chicken club was seasoned well but the chicken was very dry and the sandwich lacked sauce, which it desperately needed. The kids pasta, for a price tag of $10, was an extremely small serving and came with no side options or included beverages. For the price, the meal was ok. The service was mediocre. The wait time seemed long between drinks and food orders. There was an included 20% gratuity on the check. I am not sure why. Our party was only 5, two were children, and then the payment device asked for an additional tip on top of that. I think the highlight of this place is the venue itself, though even that's a hard sell since it's located in an area of Reno that is often regarded as quite unsavory. The building itself is very cool though and offers a lot in terms of live music and downtown bar vibes. Overall, I would go 3.5 stars, and perhaps the lunch and dinner menu would be a bit better, but with the strange added gratuity, the average service, and just OK food, I leaned towards a 3 star rating over the 4. read more

The chips, however, were a little stale. The rest of our group went with the prime rib, and while the flavor was good, it arrived only semi-warm, and the rare order came out medium. This is their third restaurant and their only one in Reno. We've loved the other two and are happy to have one close. Great location, with plenty of parking nearby, and a beautiful venue! Two separate dining rooms inside, one that is more family-oriented and one that is bar and music centered, with a stage for live bands. There is also a beautiful outdoor, upper deck with a separate bar and dining area, with several fire pits for chilly nights! This can be accessed from stairs inside or outside. The artwork is super cool and they did a beautiful job remodeling the interior. There are two pizza ovens and a large menu to choose from. They have an onsite brewery for craft beer brewing, and three full service bars as well. We came opening weekend and it was packed and a little understaffed, but our server was amazing! She was covering the entire front area (family friendly side) and she did a great job! Our drink order was taken quickly, as was our food order. Our food arrived hot and fresh and she was super nice and friendly! She took great care of us and cleared all of our plates, ensuring we were well taken care of. We tried several of their flagship beers and loved them. My husband ordered a Moscow Mule and although he was disappointed that it wasn't in a copper mug, he said it was very good. We tried the Margherita Pizza, the Nachos with chicken, and the sweet chili wings. The pizza was ok, it didn't have tomato on top, only in the sauce, but the basil was fresh. The crust was good, but wasn't as wood fired as we'd expected. We may try a different pizza, but wouldn't order this one again. The wings were delicious! They were large, tasty and cooked perfectly! They are served with either ranch or Blue Cheese and the carrots and celery were fresh and crisp! The nachos were perfect for sharing and the beer cheese sauce was delicious.
