This is a pretty park opposite Lake Union from Gas Works Park. The MOHAI and Center for Wooden Boats feel integrated with this park. It is fairly spacious, there's a pond that children can play with remote boats in, a sidewalk fountain, a short bridge, and wooden tiers or steps to sit on the waterfront. You have a nice view of the lake and the Space Needle. I enjoy jogging here, walking around, and watching boats in the lake. Overall, I think it's a great park, I would study here with friends, or bring visitors from out of town nearby. read more

This was a great park for a stroll and a mid-day break. We sat on the dock and watched the sailboats and people seemed to be exercising, walking dogs, and picnicking in the park while we were there. It was a nice stop with adequate seating and a nice view of Lake Union. read more

I walk through this park on my breaks at work. Great views of the city, tons of seating. This park does a good job separating the city life with a peaceful atmosphere, as the park is centered around lake union. read more

A great place to sit peacefully or have a short walk around. We happened to go there in the late hours of the evening and it felt really nice to sit on the park beach and watch the cars going up & down the bridge.. There happened to be no rush and parking was not an issue. I only wish that the place was lit better as I hardly found any lights around which made the place a little dark unless you have a torch to save you from stumbling over something.. read more

A very pretty site at the south end of Lake Union on wc is located the Museum of History & Industry. There is a large fountain, a lot of grass & sitting areas & some large boats moored near an old fashioned clock. However, watch where you step in grass; lots of unpicked up dog poop in it. Definitely NOT a place where you'd want to lay in the grass unless you've inspected the ground carefully 1st. Side benefit of the park is being able to watch the float plans take off & land on the water nearby. A little difficult & confusing to get to the park parking lot because of construction currently going on, but worth the effort to get there. read more

This is one of the first places I visited when I was in seattle for a year.....it was my haven of quiet beauty in the middle of the downtown bustle that I would escape to every evening.Experience some fabulous sunsets,learned about the interesting maritime history and wooden boats docked there,excellent for people watching,always some activity going on......bunch of beautifully dressed high school kids taking pics,older couples,younger couples,families,boat rides,parties,MOHAI museum next door,view of the gasworks park across the lake,varying flowers as the seasons pass,cute canadian goslings following their mamas everywhere,new fountain walkway installation,argosy planes landing into the lake.....so many things to enjoy!One of my fond memories of my time there in Seattle. read more

We came here instead of Gas Works Park for 4th of July because the Paseo man said that place would be RIDICULOUSLY packed since that is the place everyone goes to. He told us to avoid it at all costs because the traffic out of there will take you over an hour. Now we wanted to experience the fireworks but this place was far and out of the way. I heard the view is also ridiculous since you get to the see the entire span of the fireworks but we were too damn lazy and didnt bother at Gas. We were advised to go to Lake Union since it was low key and you still got to see the show. You didnt get to see the bottom since buildings and stuff blocked it but it was good enough. Plus, it was walking distance from our apartment so didnt have to deal with all that traffic. The works started around 10 so we got there around 9 and you can pretty much find any spot on the grass. So celebrating the 4th in Seattle is totally different than the San Jose because there is actual food carts here serving legit food as if it was a food festival. Pretty damn cool. We sat on the moist grass until it started but once one person stands up and obscures the view of others, then everyone has to stand. Make sure to bring a blanket and something to sit on because the grass does get wet. The overall fireworks show was pretty good and comparable to San Jose but definitely not the best I have seen. All good though. It was my first time celebrating out of my state. read more

They did a nice job renovating this area. I meant to go to the opening day but finally walked down to the park this weekend. On this sunny, yet cold day, it was rejuvenating to sit in the sun and take in the beautiful views of the lake. There are plenty of spots to sit and/or lay down and watch the seaplanes flying in and boats on the water. There is a small beach area for kayaks to land. Be sure to watch where you step, the geese leave a lot of waste around. read more

I walk down here a lot. I love this park. I can say the geese are kind of a pain, but it's near water and it's Seattle, so geese are just part of the deal. There is actual grass in this park. There isn't much of it, but what there is, is beautiful. It is right next to the water and the boat museum, which has some wonderfully nice people. There are great little paths around the water to get the actual park; I absolutely love running down around here. For those who live in the 'hood, stop by. read more

A great escape from the busy city. Only downside is the goose poop so bring a blanket if you want to lay down but otherwise a great park

Great place for an evening or afternoon walk or run. The park is walking distance from Amazon SLU campus and the tons of apartment buildings on Dexter and and in SLU. The main attraction is Lake Union - if you visit in the summer, there are ton of sail boats. Lake Union is also the home of Kenmore Air, so depending on and off there are seaplanes taking off and landing from the lake. The MOHAI is close by as well. We often take the area for granted, but it is definitely 5 stars. Beware of duck poop. read more

Great park right on the shore of Lake Union with great views across to Gas Works. Also houses the large model boat pond and center for wooden boats which is very scenic. Great place to lounge around or enjoy a picnic on the huge lawn. read more

Such a disappointing park. What they could have done with this beautiful space boggles the mind. Instead, sterile expanses of gravel, miles of concrete walkways criss-crossing, curving this way and that for no good reason. Completely flat, except for a couple of grassy berms that serve no purpose, looking like some sort of earthworks art project. Contrived planting boxes suggesting boat shapes contain all the variety of the plantings in the park. You don't interact with the plants so much as view them like an exhibit, at a distance, contained, unnatural. Not many trees to speak of, none of any height. They struggle to grow out of the sun-baked gravel. A few tables and chairs, but not well-suited to a family having lunch. I suppose some nice picnic tables were out of the question. No shaded areas. Over-designed, but under-functional. The only reason I see to come here is to walk through it to MOHAI. A park designed to walk through, rather than linger in. Just a dismal failure. This is what the city comes up with when they hire so-called designers to "show off". Too bad the Olmsteads are long dead. Or they could have hired some Japanese garden designers. Oh well, the view from here is certainly nice. Sorry for the downer review, but we really should have gotten something better for our money. read more

Great park to take a jog, run or walk during the day. Good views of the city if you don't mind the Mercer traffic situation that has been in progress of years. An excellent variety of boats, restaurants and other local attractions around the park. MOHAI is just a walk away. Perfect place to hangout rain, sun or any type of weather. read more

Hidden behind gated areas of construction and beyond the Mercer mess is this truly underrated gem. If you can get here by foot (god knows it's best to not drive anywhere in South Lake Union), do it! On a beautiful day, it's truly magical. This is the perfect spot for a picnic or lunch. I love walking along the dock, checking out the boats, standing at the MOHAI steps or looking out as the sun sets. read more
