The roads are in need of repair very bumpy drive with a big rig. The playground by the bathhouse is very rundown, on the verge of unsafe & the horse shoe pits have no horseshoes & are also very worn down. All that being said, the campground as a whole is good. Very peaceful, the sites are large, lots of trees, the bathrooms are old but clean, the mini golf & playground by the ranger station are well kept, the pools are nice & there is a hot tub. The clubhouse it really nice, lots of games, books & some movies. There is pool table & shuffleboard downstairs, not many laundry machines though & the "fitness center" only has a treadmill & bike but they don't work great, they are pretty old. The ranger station has a movie theater you can rent for 3 hours at a time. Grocery store & restaurants aren't too far away. Overall pretty nice campground, will definitely be returning. read more

Thousand Trails Lake Whitney - Lake Whitney - RV Parks Near Me - Whitney, Texas

Our first time staying at this RV park. We stayed in "A" Loop as there were more trees and it seemed more secluded than the others. Being winter, there were very few people in the park. We were one of only three RVs in A loop the whole two weeks we were there. The spaces are gravel, pretty level with room between campers. They had just enough room for our 42' fifth wheel and dually pickup. Every site has a picnic table. It seems everyone picks up after their animals because we never saw any problem with that. There are no fire rings, but propane fire-pits are allowed. The office was large and very nice with a theater room off to one side for family movie nights. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. There's an activity building further back in the park. It has clean bathrooms, games and puzzles, tons of books, an old worn out piano, and more. The laundry room was nice, 4 washing machines and 4 dryers, all $2 each. The pool and hot tub looked awesome. We were too cold and didn't want to get in swimsuits for the hot tub, but others were in there and seemed very comfortable. There are several social things planned by the office each week, even though we had other things going on and couldn't attend. Cell and streaming service worked great with our ATT hotspot. The ONLY reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because the roads are badly in need of repair. We were told that the public areas like bathrooms, office, laundry, etc will be getting updates soon. Once that is done, then the roads are going to be redone. They're full of potholes and just all around miserable. We will be back to this park even if the roads aren't finished yet. We loved it out there! We greatly enjoyed getting to know Wendy Fox who helped us figure out the best Thousand Trails membership package for 2023 and beyond. We wanted to upgrade from the basic package we'd had last year. A pleasant experience without a hard-sell attitude from her. On this visit, we had to pay a $3 per night surcharge for 50 amp, however in the future all sites will be 50 amp and there will be no surcharge. read more

We had been to this Thousand Trails park many years ago ... maybe it was 16 years ago. We were curious if the park had been kept up because so many of the Thousand Trails parks have not been. So, we discovered it's not like it used to be with all the pristine amenities and decor but it's still very nice. This is definitely a campground and not a resort. However, that's not bad. That's good because it has just about everything a resort has except you don't have neighbors right out your front door. Sites are large and you definitely have the woodsy feel because there are lots of trees. The park is big with many different loops for camping. Many of the sites sit under the trees making satellite difficult. However, there are also sites where satellite is not a problem. There are also many pull-thru sites. The main roads are in poor shape. Some places it's been patched but other places there are so many patches that driving through is quite rough. We saw quite a few sites with black bags over the electrical outlets so assume repairs need to be made. There is a family lodge and an adult lodge. Both have pools and the adult lodge has a hot tub. Plus there are courts available for sports plus even a mini-golf course. There is a ma & pa restaurant onsite. They weren't open the time we were there but it's a nice addition to the park. We have AT&T cell service and we struggled with data. I'm not sure location in the park would make a difference. Anyway, we would definitely return for a few days if in the area. This is one of the better Thousand Trails parks. read more

I've been to several thousand trails campgrounds this year and this one is by Far the worst! The roads are horrific. Potholes everywhere. The road hasn't been repaved since it was first built and the shoddy patchwork they do to fill in the pot holes actually makes it worse. You have to pay extra for a 50 amp site and even if you don't need one the scarce full hookup sites are first come first serve. The main office team were pleasant enough when I arrived but they started hounding me (meaning calling and tracking me down on a golf cart) for a package payment not 2 hours into my stay. And let me preface that by stating that they told me to find my site and set up before returning with my site number and package payment. Plus at least 40% of the sites are "under maintenance" as it is so the pickings are even slimmer. Adding on top that I just found out the entire laundry room is unavailable until further notice and the office is closed on weekends so I can't even call to ask questions. Stay here at your own risk!!!! Edit: I've been here for 2 weeks, leaving tomorrow, and the laundry room is still out of order with no news from the main office. read more

We had a horrible experience here. The roads are in a terrible state of disrepair. Almost every electrical box was covered by the staff with garbage bags as a sign they were out of service. It took us 45 minutes of driving around just to find an available site The site we stayed at blew the 30 amp breaker constantly. The staff is obsessed with how fast you drive and scream at drivers, even though the roads are so bad that it's impossible to drive fast without tearing up your vehicle The check-in process takes forever. Cell service for both T-Mobile and AT&T is non-existent. There's no boat ramp and even though our jet ski fit without issue in our allotted parking area at the camp site, they have some ridiculous rule that prohibits it. We've been camping for years and never been pestered by the staff at anyplace we've stayed until here. In summary, the staff is rude and instead of working to improve conditions within the park, they are obsessed with annoying their guest. I love Lake Whitney but hate this place. read more

Large campground with 5 miles of hiking/biking trails. Main road is full of potholes so make sure to drive slowly. We chose full hookup back-in site B65 due to the excellent tree shade. Unfortunately the site was low in the front so it was difficult to level our class A motorhome. B section bathrooms were clean. On a positive note, we were able to program 40+ over the air TV channels. Sadly our AT&T and T-Mobile phones had zero reception at the site and the AT&T phone barely got 1 bar at the lodge/laundry room area. The lodge supposedly had free wifi but we couldn't get it to work. Excellent laundry room with well maintained machines. The price was a bargain at $2.00 per load and only credit cards are accepted. Paid wifi is available but we did not try it. All amenities except the pool were closed due to Covid-19. read more

Nice campground that needs many sites repaired. We arrived late in the afternoon on a Saturday which we normally don't travel on. After a 7+ hour drive we arrived and were told to go find an open site. That's one of my pet peeves....They should know what sites are open/available and have some recommendations of some sites that would work for us or have a site assigned. We unhooked our toad and drove around the park looking for an open site. Many sites were open but were bagged, some with a sign of Upgrades Coming Soon. There were way more open but bagged sites than open available sites which is what aggravated me. We did manage to find an available site after driving two of the three loops we were told to check out. Once on site everything was nice and quiet. Today, the Tuesday after we arrived and day before we leave a crew had started running new electrical cables from the park entrance. Looks like in the near future this park will have new electrical and hopefully all the sites will be available. Guess we'll see next time. The laundry only takes credit cards at a cost of $2.00 for washers but I was charged $2.50 on washers. and $2.00 for the dryers. When I got home and checked my credit card on line I had been charged an extra $2.50 twice. Don't recommend using the laundry facilities here. The park is fairly spread out and the sites are secluded from each other with trees/shrubs between them. There is a small dog run area for the pups which we always like. read more

Potholes galore. Have to pay for an upgrade when you use a 50 amp. Seriously? Have to pay for WiFi if you want any service. No spots are open, as a lot are closed due to whatever excuse they give. I do not recommend TT in Whitney, Tx. First come first serve on 50 amp even though you reserve a 50 amp online. Stay away and go to Lofers Bend or the State Park. Mccown Valley is also nice. Steer clear of this place. Don't waste your money on a membership. The place is run down. And they always have excuses for everything. read more

Park was great! Plenty of trees between sites, so it seems like you're far from everyone. Putt putt course was fun! Fishing site was beautiful and was easy to access! Plenty of family things to do. Pools looked great. Wish it was warm enough to swim. Great trip! read more

Cabins not as described, given little to no information regarding reservation details, double charged deposit, all amenities closed with no notice, and staff interaction leaves a lot to be desired in the hospitality industry. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else read more

This is our 2nd camping trip to a Thousand Trails location. The other being Lake Bridgeport. Both promise great amenities and family fun, both let you down. At least at Bridgeport activities were occurring despite COVID and the people were nice. At Lake Whitney they cancelled everything including 2 days of their welcome center/reservations/ranger station being open every week because of COVID. They have cancelled all weekly activities so literally there were just the amenities for the kids to enjoy. The hot tub didn't work and the light on neither the tennis court/pickle ball court nor basketball court worked either. The game room didn't have functioning games and the pol table had 1 broken stick to play with along with an air hockey table that turned on that didn't blow any air. The gentleman that runs the place whom loves on site in loop A is beyond unpleasant telling my children they were too young for the coffee bar and it wasn't open because of COVID after they watched others enjoy it. The roads have potholes everywhere and need repair. The actual RV sites do have a lot of trees which make them pretty but all are gravel and some very uneven. It was just a bummer nothing worked and nothing was going on for activities which wasn't disclosed before we booked or before our arrival. There are 2 Corp campgrounds every close by I would chose those! read more

It's time for them to spend less money on signs and more on fixing the place up. I made these reservations through Thousand Trails. They boasted of all kinds of games, activities, on site store and restaurant, WiFi, just to name a few. They did have WiFi for a price but nothing else. Upon arrival the man checking us in said they were pretty full and he 'doubted we'd find a spot with hookups'! What? And if they had a black bag over the pole - it was closed. So, this was a true free-for-all! We basically had to drive around up and down these pot holes loops towing a trailer hoping to find a spot. There were more sites with black bags than didn't. Very few site have full hookups (sewer, water, electric). How hard would it have been to assign the sites just like every other RV Park? ALL of the dumpsters were overflowing. Two young girls in a golf cart Came once to 'clean' bathroom - and stayed no more than 2 minutes. Née they said they cleaned them every 2 hours. We talked with other campers who were also Thousand Trails members who said most of their parks are about the same! We couldn't have been more disappointed in the overall condition of the place or the overall cleanliness. Pads are worn out, uneven asphalt. Low water pressure. No cable/antenna. No store - and you're mikes from anywhere. This was worth exactly what paid for it (membership was included with our RV) I feel sorry for those who PAID for this Membership. read more

This park is really nice. The pool by the office is clean and big. The office has water cooler and coffee( ask at desk for pod). Service is great. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. Trail to Lake Whitney from parking lot is cool. They don't have section open for pull throughs but the back in spots are very long. They have 2 pools but only one by office is open. The lodge is very nice. It has 2 floors. Top floor has tv, large dining table, and puzzle area. Downstairs has a pool table, ice hockey, darts and more and a separate room for younger kids. It has an older, small exercise room. It's less than 5 miles from grocery store and a few shops. Fort Wirth is 1.5 hours away and Austin 2.5. A lot of nice shady spots with most very level. Our levelers aren't working so we used 2 per leveler on one side. The roads aren't the greatest but just go slow! The sites with plastic bags: most of those are reserved not broken. read more
