After 54 years I had to have my 1st real eye exam. Perfect vision up to this point with the generic eye chart exams during physicals. I was a little nervous going in and the nerves quickly went away. The service was great from receptionist to Dr. Clifton and back to receptionist. All 3 ladies were very welcoming. Smiles everywhere! They just created a happy soothing environment. The exam itself very easy. Dr. Clifton was very thorough and was extremely informative and honest with my options after going over her assessment of my exam. Making it very easy to make a decision on the route I wished to take. I am extremely appreciative of all 3 ladies of this office. My 1st experience was a great experience! Terrible experience! My child recently went in for her 1st trial of contacts. Dr Monie Clifton could not get the lenses in her eyes. She decided to take her to different room to try again with another employee. I was suddenly told I had to go to the waiting room because parents were not allowed to interfere with the process. I was told I either sit in the waiting room or I could request a refund for the fitting fee. I do NOT recommend seeing this doctor. I do not think children under 18 should be required to be alone in an exam room at any time. This is unacceptable. read more

I am shocked how awful my experience at this office has been. Initially, I was happy to find a local eye doctor, but I will not be returning after this visit. The customer service is abysmal. The front desk staff or whoever ordered my contact lenses was incompetent. I try to be fair when it comes to writing reviews, and they made it exceptionally hard for me considering I'm left without a way to see properly at the end of this ordeal (outlined below). I made an appointment over a month in advance of running out of my daily contact lens prescription. When my Thursday appointment was finished, I was told the trial pair of lenses would arrive on the following Tuesday/Wednesday. 1 Week Post Appointment - I did not hear anything by Wednesday, so I called to see if the trial pack was ready. Madison, the front desk employee, said that my order wasn't showing up in the system. I was extremely irritated because I was almost out of contacts at this point. Madison offered no other options to resolve the issue. She said it would be another week until the trial would come in by Tuesday/Wednesday of the following week. By that point, I would be out of contacts. She offered no way to remedy the situation until I had to ask about any other options they had on hand. I was given a two-week pair of contacts that wasn't even the correct prescription to get me by until the next week. 2 Weeks Post Appointment - On Wednesday, I called the office and left a voicemail to see if my trial package arrived. The front office does not answer phones timely, so I had to call back a few more times after I left a voicemail to get a response. Madison let me know that my contacts would be arriving in another week. She did not have any idea of how to resolve this issue other than waiting another week and using the incorrect prescription until then. At the end of the call, I communicated that the office should give people a courtesy call if shipments are running late. She told me it takes 1-2 weeks for contacts to be delivered. I stopped her right there to remind her that she told me for two consecutive weeks that it would less than one week. If the lead time is actually two weeks, that fact needs to be communicated so patients can plan accordingly. I would have asked for my prescription outright and ordered from a different company rather than using an incorrect prescription and waiting around for the office to lead me on week after week. read more

Great service & friendly staff! Love I had the option to just pay a small fee to have images captured of eyes rather than have them dilated.

I had my first visit and ordered my glasses which cost me almost $400 out of pocket. I had added the anti glare, and progressive lens. This did include exam. I had to take the glasses back within 48 hours because the anti glare was coming off, and had to have them adjust the frames. I then was having trouble with glare and the lens looking dirty all the time. I tried everything they said to get them clean; but nothing worked. I went their office today to see about getting new glasses and they had the doctor look at them, and she doesn't see anything wrong. They call my old eye doctor in NY and called me back to tell me that is is the same material and that there is nothing they can do for me. So nothing like having a pair of glasses I can't wear. PLEASE NOTE that this review isn't of the doctor there but of the front staff. I still give it one star because it is assumed that the administration is directed by the doctor. The first call I made, I had to leave a message. It was on a Monday. But they were closed. The outgoing message explained that they are open every other Monday and Friday, which provides three-day weekends for the doctor and staff, I guess. The message was pointed in telling when they are NOT available to service clients. I suppose I would have to work around their schedule... I didn't get a call back. Determined to avoid a "chain" store, I called again. I was able to make an appointment about 2 weeks out. Must be a good doctor [!?] I did not receive a confirmation call. The morning of the appt, as I was getting ready to leave I had a nosebleed start. Really quite bad, I tried to wait it out. However, it was a bad one. I called the office and explained I might be a few minutes late... After the call I began to make my way to the office, hoping the issue would correct itself on the way.- about a 25 minute drive. I arrived at the office about ten minutes after my appointment time and immediately called them to tell them that I was in the parking lot and would come in just as soon as I could. I received a terse, "Ok" in reply. Finally, inside I was greeted with ambivalence. Asked If I had filled out my paperwork that I was supposed to have downloaded from the website. [?] When I replied "no", I apparently annoyed the young ladies behind the desk and I was then told that the doctor has a "meeting" that she had to attend and that I had been rescheduled for later in the afternoon and that I would have to come back then. I asked why, that I had done everything I could to get there on time. Without an apology- just explained that I was 36 minutes late and that they had taken the trouble to move things around so I could get in that day. There would be no other option provided. And no, I can't speak with the doctor- she's with a patient. I explained at that point that I felt like I was there at her convenience. And that I had been working around THEIR schedule from the beginning. I was out. On my way back to Charlotte- I called a number of places inquiring as to soonest availability. I found a Target [Rivergate in Steele Creek] that had a cancellation the next day and would be happy to get me in then. I cringed- [a chain..!] but booked it. There was something about the ladie's voice... and energy... And I am gonna tell you... I was amazed at how wonderful my experience was. The staff is amazing. The doctors there are very experienced. I got contact lenses for the first time in my life and needed extra help- they were great. read more

After nearly 8 years, we are seeking another optometrist. The staff at the practice declined to work with us for an insurance reimbursement (they were an in-network provider for EyeMed). Not only did they refuse to work with us, they pointed to a "policy" via a form letter stating they will not resubmit a claim. Even our payer tried to reason with the practice to no avail. So, we are out ~$200 from our payer because LWE stuck to their "policy". There are other options we will now seek. BTW: good luck getting an appointment. They have odd, inconsistent hours. We had to use another doctor (Dr. Poole) for an recent emergency (probably where we will start going from now on). read more

It was time for my eye exam and I wanted to find a local Eye Care provider. It was easy to get an appointment that fit my schedule. The staff e-mailed all of those documents you spend so much time filling out when you come into a new office. I was able to complete the required information at home and bring them in with me. I really liked that they took my insurance and didn't give me any hassle with it. I wish there were more options for glasses frames, but, I know most folks prefer contacts. On a very positive note, I found I had to go out of town unexpectedly and the staff rushed my glasses so I could have them in time. What life savers! read more

So the receptionist isn't very friendly, and to add to the poor customer service, this office isn't kid friendly in that they're closed everyday kids are out of school, so good luck getting your kids into this office without removing them from school...After discussing these issues, I decided to take my business and my daughters business elsewhere. read more

I'm not sure what that don fella was talking about. Kinda sounds like some yuppy bullshit to me. This place is great. I commend dr Clifton for her coming back to the office after having a bilateral pulmonary embolism. She's a great doctor and her staff goes wayyyy above and beyond. Don't listen to anything this don guy says, sounds like he got his feelings hurt because he didn't get what he wanted. He should have more respect for those who try to help him. I feel bad for people like him. If your looking for a great eye doctor and an awesome staff to go along with it then look no further than lake Wylie eye.
