The ladies at the front desk were nice but the problem is that the doctor was already really behind and no one was kind enough to call me and I had to take time off of work to be there on time.... my time is as valuable as the doctors. It is amazing how they can charge you for being late but never to they credit you anything for the doctor being 1.5 hours late... yes I said 1.5 hours late! He did not even apologize when he came in the room that he was late. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone in a position that should take the lead for their staff be more humble and appreciate the time of the patients? read more

Patient beware ! If you are considering cataract surgery avoid the Huntersville facility. Prior to my surgery I did not require corrective lenses for near vision - Following my surgery - I am unable to read text without lenses. My tolerance for bright lights has actually deteriorated and this was one of my reasons for surgery. My impression of the Huntersville facility was reminiscent of what I believe would be that of a 'puppy mill' I now am faced with a need for bifocals due to my cataract post surgery. For your sake and your eye sight - avoid this facility! read more

They don't give the right contact lens prescription and you send it off to another company. They didn't take and accountability and tried to blame me for not catching their mistake. Then never had a manager call me to discuss. Horrible customer service.Their doctor was OK. I highly doubt recommend 1800Contact for covering and fixing their mistake and covering the cost. Outstanding Service even for customers from another location Over the week end, the screw on the right side of my glasses came loose and dropped out and as goes the screw, so goes the lens. Don't worry, did not loose the lens. My Dr is Dr. Krug with Horizon Eye Care and he comes to the Huntersville once a month. He's great and because he does not go to the Mooresville Office, I normally have my prescriptions filled at the Huntersville Office or in an emergency, the Cotswold Office. Have never been to this office before even though they are part of the same network for the above reasons. On the way to work on Monday, I stopped in to see if they could replace to screw and correct the problem. The open at 8:00 am, I was there at 7:56 am and back out of the door a few minutes later. Great service with no questions or hassle. In and out of the door in less than 10 minutes and no charge. Great friendly service and I would recommend to anyone. read more

My family and I have been patients of Horizon for many years. I made an appointment for an annual eye exam several weeks ago at your Mooresville location. I was told the specific date and time (7:50am, 4/15/25) that Dr. Syracuse would see VSP insurance patients. At 7:45 am on the day of my appointment date I received a phone call telling me that there was a scheduling error and Dr. Syracuse would not be able to see me using VSP but I would be more than welcome to use my health insurance that would be $165 out of pocket. Since I was already in the parking lot I went to the front desk and the very nice ladies tried to help by speaking to "someone in the back office". I was informed that Dr. Syracuse refused to see me using VSP. Unbelievable that a Medical Doctor would refuse treatment to anyone due to an error at their practice, much less a longtime customer. Really great experience for my first time here! Emily (the tech) & Dr. Stolldorf were fantastic to work with. Great "bedside" manner, funny & very smart in their field. The front desk was efficient when checking in & checking out. The optical associate (I believe his name is Rich), fixed me up quickly with new prescription lenses. I'm retired Navy, on Medicare and Social Security. My vision had deteriorated significantly due to cataracts so it was time for surgery. I spent over a year visiting three (3) different cataract surgeons before deciding on Dr. Stolldorf at Horizon Eye Care. Those surgeons included doctors Jaben, Rheinbolt and Kansupada, all from CEENTA. They all had great online reviews. However I found them and/or their staff's to be arrogant, indifferent and condescending. I strongly do not recommend these doctors or CEENTA for cataract surgery or for any of your eye care needs. So when I met Dr. Stolldorf and his staff at Horizon Eye Care, it was like a breath of fresh air. He was receptive, listened to my concerns and was not judgmental or dismissive, no matter how trivial my concerns may have been*. We discussed my cataract surgery needs and agreed on a plan - distant vision in one eye, dashboard vision in the other eye. Not true mono-vision which I didn't want. We discussed the various lens options and costs, and having slight astigmatism in my left eye, he recommended a special lens which I declined due to cost. So I have standard IOL in both eyes. The Horizon Eye Care team executed and coordinated pre-surgery through surgery flawlessly. Surgery is performed one eye at a time about 4-6 weeks apart. I was extremely nervous during the first surgery. Dr. Stolldorf and the superb staff at the Huntersville Novant Outpatient Surgery Center did an extraordinary job helping me feel comfortable and relaxed during surgery. The cataract surgery itself only took about 25 minutes and was painless. I was very happy with the entire surgery process and experience. Fortunately I had no post-surgery complications with either eye. Healing was quick and I was back to my normal routine after a few days' rest. The vision change from cataracts to no cataracts was dramatic. I didn't realize how awful my vision was with cataracts until after surgery on the first eye was completed. Vision was clear and colors were bright in the operated eye, whereas vision in the other cataract eye was a hazy, blurred with a strong yellow cast. It was like I had a new eye! After about six weeks my eyes were for the most part completely healed, though I stayed on steroid drops a few extra weeks for one eye that was healing slower. It's completely healed now. My vision is excellent, though if I had to do it all over again I probably would have opted and paid for an astigmatism correcting lens in one eye, since vision is slightly fuzzy in that eye. My post-op vision wasn't perfect, but except for the slight astigmatism, it met all my expectations. Though I can function perfectly without corrective lens, I've opted to wear glasses to obtain the optimal vision for working both on computers and flying airplanes. Obviously my lens implants don't correct for presbyopia, so reading glasses are generally necessary for very small print, though I can read and use digital devices without glasses sufficiently if needed thanks to having one eye optimized for distance and the other optimized for dashboard vision. The entire process at Horizon Eye Care went very smoothly and effortlessly from the initial appointment to the last post-op appointment. *Except for my very last post-op appointment, and there are many, where Dr. Stolldorf seemed a little short with me over my many questions, the entire experience was flawless. I strongly recommend Dr. Stolldorf and Horizon Eye Care for all your vision needs. It's now eight (8) months since I had surgery and I'm experiencing no surgery related issues and my vision remains good. If only I could eliminate a few large "floaters" I'd truly have new eyes. Dr Stolldorf performed cataract surgery, both eyes on me. We selected a long range view lens for the right eye and dashboard distance lens for the left eye. The two surgeries went very well with no mishaps. I now can see very well without glasses. I prefer reader lenses for up close reading. Overall I am very pleased with my cataract surgeries. Immediately after my surgeries I moved to the Chapel Hill area and now have an Ophthalmologist in the UNC Health Care System and in particular the Kittner Eye Center. My new doctor absolutely raved about my cataract surgeries and how well they were done. What a recommendation read more

Been going there for years... Waited for an hour today for an appointment I showed up for as they direct and wasnt close to going into appointment. There was only two people in the lobby. They never shared and update. Walked out. I guess my time isn't as valuable as theirs Addendum: I rec a hand written letter of apology and gave the folks there a second chance. I'm glad I did. I was sent to Dr. Hunter Stolldorf for a specialist consultation. The office is nice and cozy and they ladies are the front desk are always pleasant. The entire team spent so much time with me on numerous occasions and would not stop until they figured out what I needed. And I need to give a huge huge huge shot out to Amy in the contact lens department!!! She worked with me and would not stop supplying me with different types of lenses of many varieties, brands, sizes and shapes and went above and beyond to help me knowing that I didn't want to make the step to laser treatment quite yet. Even though I went for a specialist consultation I would recommend them for any glasses or contact needs. read more

I would put 0 starts but you can't. The staff was absolutely terrible towards me the entire time. I went to get my eyes checked and Dr. Hunter Stolldorf spent a total of a minute and a half with me while looking at my eyes. Stolldorf didn't seem to care that I told him I felt like my eyes had gotten worse in the past year. Stolldorf then proceeded to write me the same prescription that I had before. Had an eye check up over a year ago, and was improperly billed for services that should have not happened until later in the year. I called and complained and they took off the bill, but apparently they decided to rebill me for those services. Basically they performed medical services at the same time as vision and did not inform me of the change. A month later I was getting new medical insurance which would have fully covered the costs of the medical services, but they did not inform me that I was also getting medical services as well. Previous visits, medical services was completely separate than medical. They need to be clear what services are covered under what plan. Currently on hold where they called me since they were not able to talk to me when I called them. This whole corporate structure is a scam. read more

Although there aren't any review for this location yet, I hope my review becomes helpful to someone else looking for an eye doctor whom they can trust. DR Johnson has a great sense of humor. He always has a full waiting room from as far back as 2006. My eyes are in perfect condition. After some minor ulcers a few years ago, I haven't seen one since. He's encouraged me to workout my eye muscles to possibly refrain from having to wear my contacts daily. It most certainly has helped me. He is a wonderful doctor and definitely reads into each and every single one of is patients. read more

This Mooresville office is awesome! One evening I called this location to feel it out. I spoke to Nekka on the phone. Immediately she was very helpful and kind and reassured me I'm coming to the right place and seeing the right doctor for my eye exam. From the moment you arrive your greeted with smiles by Nekka and Doris. Nekka made the sign in process a snap! In fact the whole office is truly pleasant. You could tell that everybody there truly loves their job! I was there for a routine eye exam/contact lens fitting. I was scheduled with Dr. Stolldorf. Cheryl preformed my eye exam. I really enjoyed my conversation with her and all the extra time she took making sure everything was correct. Next was the contact lens fitting with Megan P. She also spent a lot of time with me making sure I was happy with the lens choice. She was wonderful to communicate with as well. Next I was with Dr. Stolldorf and he was awesome. I've heard many good things about him and I'm happy that I chose him. We reviewed everything with my eyes and discussed the problems I've had in the past. He spent a lot of extra time with me. I can't thank him enough! The Bottom line is that this office makes you feel like your family. I couldn't be happier with my visit and will always return here. The moment I saw he was a US Naval Academy Grad I knew he was the Dr. for me. Knowing the Academy only accepts the best and brightest confirmed I was in GREAT hands. His staff is efficient and polite. I've had 2 cataracts removed since my first visit to Horizon in January. My vision is remarkable! Dr. Stolldorf was thorough in his explanation about the procedure and what I would experience through this process. I had NO surprises! I was given written details about the procedure and clear instructions regarding care for my eyes after surgery. I've always been seen promptly upon check in.
