I first would like to apologize I took so long to write this review. We camped out earlier last month and it was simply incredible! We took our own tent and in the morning a gracious wonderful lady came walking up with a karaffe of fresh coffee and fresh made muffins!!!! We were not expecting this! Lakesdale resort was very clean the kids enjoyed the kayaks and the freedom to explore. They went fishing and released what they caught. Simply said the place was magical and we will be returning!!! I have recommended this location to several friends and they have all gone (everyone) and came back wanting more, some already talikng about booking for next year! AWESOME. read more

The update: it's still wonderful, and my fiancé is now my wife! We've since returned with our own paddle boards, leisurely enjoying the placid waters of three lakes. Compared to other parts of SJ in August, Lakedake remains peaceful despite the influx of tourists (ourselves included). read more

Absolutely wonderful place to stay! We stayed in one of their two story log cabins for a week and it was amazing! The staff is all very friendly and helpful. We spent our days at the lake swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing. They have life size chess and jenga (super fun), and the kids participated in one of the many crafts offered. They stuffed an animal of their choice than made them a tiny tie dye shirt. The cabin was fully accommodating, a full kitchen including all cookware, toaster, waffle maker, cutting board, microwave, fridge etc. You only need to bring food to prepare. We had two queen beds, two full bathrooms, a living room and a great "backyard" including a lake! The cabin also had a fireplace that turned on with a light switch (amazing), and there's a private hot tub available too. It's such a family friendly place and just walking the property is beautiful! Lots of deer in the area as well which was a treat. They also had a small tv and DVD player and movies available to borrow. We would come back in a heart beat! It's almost smack in between Roch and Friday harbor and the drive to either harbor is mesmerizing. read more

Sigh. I really wanted to love this. About 12 years ago (before marriage and kids, and Yelp) I used to go to Lakedale Resort quite often. The log cabins were newly built, the lodge wasn't there yet, and it was wonderful. On these visits, I rented one of the log cabins. They are placed around a lake, have a comfortable, rustic feel and are exactly what one is looking for if the goal is to get away from it all. Earlier this year, my husband and I were discussing summer vacation plans, and I suggested a return trip to Lakedale. I had been eager to show them the resort, as well as San Juan Island at large. The prices have increased on the log cabins, but I was happy to discover they now had some Canvas Cabins available - which I though would be perfect for our trip. I made a reservation for four days. We arrived in late July 2012. Check in was easy, the staff more than helpful (one staff member even delivered a bundle of firewood to our campsite the first evening, even though the general store was closed.) and the resort was as beautiful as I remembered. The canvas cabins themselves were wonderful. The beds are comfortable, they are very clean and nicely furnished. Bath linens and a fold out futon for the kids were also provided. If I could have stopped here, I would have rated our experience 5 stars. Sadly, it was not to be. My first issue is that there is ONE bathhouse for all of the guests who are camping at the resort. For the women's bathroom, this consisted of three bathroom stalls and three showers. The bathhouse was a short walk from the canvas cabins, and located directly across from the group camping area. The second night we were there, a large family reunion and a motorcycle group filled this area. They also filled the bathrooms. Using the bathrooms was a chore in itself, and we were never able to take showers due to the consistent long lines for them. Sure, we probably could have taken one in the middle of the day, but who wants to sit around on a vacation just hoping you get a shower? We ended up spending very little time at camp, due to the challenges in using the bathroom and the general noise level from the group camp sites. There was animated, loud conversations going on until well after the "quiet time" at the campground every night. I mentioned this to a staff member, and he said he would have the night manager drive through. I think he must have, because the groups were quiet for about five minutes before picking the party right back up again. The final straw was the last night, when another large group moved in. They had t3 or 4 large dogs who were more interested in fighting each other than being with their owners, and walking my small children past this campsite to the restrooms became a stress in itself. We ended up leaving a day early. To their credit, the staff was very accommodating when I asked to shorten my stay by a day and explained the reasons why. They apologized, and shortened our stay without any difficulty. Honestly, it's not the staff's fault here. I believe that Lakedale is experiencing some growing pains. Primarily, this is related to the fact that the resort is located on an island, and from what I understand, there are a limited number of sewer permits available. However, if the resort management is unable to provide adequate facilities for the large number of campers there during the summer months, then they need to decrease the number of people they rent space to. After leaving the resort, we drove to Bellevue, WA where I paid 10 dollars less than the nightly rate for the canvas cabin. We had a private bathroom, and took what might very well be the best showers of our lives. I just expected a little more from paying 179.00 for a "glamping" experience. It is my sincere hope that Lakedale will read this review and address the situation. If it was a question of hospitality and setting alone, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I'm hoping to get a good deal on a log cabin rental in the off season. read more

Really wonderful private campground with virtually no cheesy stuff and lots of sweet touches. We were hesitant to attend a private campground, but this one was like a throw back to the olden days of sweet family camps. We stayed in a camping spot. The lake side spots are mostly great, but some of the interior ones are awesome and others are a bit boring or exposed. read more

A group of friends and I went camping here, and we had a great time. I would have to say that this was possibly the best camping trip I've ever had. Spacious campsites allowed us to meet other campers who were more than willing to share their food in a short notice potluck. Amazing tomales and carne asada...by the luck of God!!! In addition, there's an opportunity for volleyball, boating on the lakes, and exploring the downtown of Friday Harbor (just a short drive away). When you leave this place, you will be looking forward to coming back...and you might even want to make it an annual event. I wanted to love this place. The website shows people having a blast making tye-dye tee-shirts, fishing, and paddling around the lake. But each one of those activities costs extra. For our anniversary in late July of 2012 we made reservations to camp here, we were new to Whidbey Island and all the state parks on Orcas Island were full. This was the last resort if we wanted to camp in the San Juans. Lakedale Resort itself is pretty, but not beautiful. We were tent camping on the banks of the lake. When we were shown our tent space, we were shocked. I have never seen such itty-bitty campsites!! Rather than a relaxing retreat, the tent camping area was so crowded it was not unlike a refugee camp, with everyone up in everyone else's business. There is NO privacy. We were between a group of tents full of noisy teens, whose names we would soon learn every time the parents would grace the tents with their presence. (The parents were rich enough to do the "glamping" in the canvas cabins.) The neighbors on the other side of our tent had a young baby who cried frequently. Quarters were so close that our dogs were almost in the other tent areas on their 6 foot leashes!! There is only one set of bathrooms and showers. The price for tent camping isn't cheap, and my husband and I definitely felt as though we had been ripped off. The only positive note was renting a canoe which our dogs were allowed to ride in. Our hour in the boat, slowly rowing and taking pictured, were the only restful moments of this whole trip. We added an extra night to our trip on the way home at Deception Pass State Park. If only we had spent the previous two nights at Deception Pass camping as well. Skip Lakedale Resort if you are tent camping! read more

Don't even bother reading the bad reviews--this place was AWESOME! I created a Yelp profile just to give Lakedale a great review. My girlfriend and I booked one night at Lakedale last minute over Labor Day weekend. We stayed in the lodge and loved it. The room was spacious, the beds/pillows were comfortable, the porch and rocking chairs outside our room were perfect for a lazy Labor Day vacation, and the view across the lake was gorgeous. There were also tons of activities and things to do around the lodge that we didn't have time to get to. Had we had more time, I am sure we would have enjoyed some of these activities. Finally, our breakfast was by far the best hotel breakfast that I've ever had. The customer service was equally as great as the amenities. The hostess behind the front desk was really helpful and welcoming, and Mary Ann makes an awesome breakfast omelet. She also gave us great advice on what to do on the island before we had to catch the ferry back to Seattle. There were only two negatives for us. First, our one night stay was pretty expensive for a law student budget. But, even with that in mind, it is well worth the money! Second, there really isn't any good food options on site (outside of the awesome breakfast). There are lots of good places pretty close by though. I honestly don't know how this place got any bad reviews in the past. IGNORE THEM and book a weekend here! You won't regret it. Thanks, Lakedale! Hope to be back soon! read more

This review is for tent camping. Their signage is slightly confusing. Not all campsites are equal. Ours barely fit our 6 person tent but others are in a huge open field. We at least had trees! If you can, get one by the water. There is not water at your campsite. You have to walk to a pump. The closer toilets are horrible port-a-potties. Let's just say it's worth the walk to the bathrooms. This could be because we went at the end of the summer season. The bathroom has a few showers, sinks, and toilets. They are actually pretty clean. It reminded me of a KOA. The showers though... they are motion sensor activated but the sensor is under the knob. You constantly have to shake your hips or your hand down there because the water stays on for about three seconds. They seriously need to replace the shower heads! The water comes out like hose not connected completely. Water gets everywhere but on you. I've had better showers at state parks or in the rain. I get that your camping but with this camping price tag I expect a decent shower. The activities in the activities tent are slightly pricey. I suggest bringing your own stuff to tie dye or your own activities if you want to. They have a few cute and easy free ones and crayons and things which is cool. They are not joking about no cell service. The only way to charge your phone is by an outlet in the bathroom and it takes forever. Just turn your phone off and bring a camera. It's a pretty cool place and concept but overpriced for tent camping. I would look into other places if I were to go camping on San Juan again. PS: Make ferry reservations!! read more

This camping site is really out of the way, but it is 100% worth it! This location is the Nordstrom of all camping sites...excellent customer service and extremely clean! It makes all the other sites I've been to in washington look like crap...and that's no lie! LOL They also have nice cabins, canvas tent thingys(?lol), and a fancy lodge w/ free wi-fi. Those are all on a little more of the pricey side however. All in all, I'd come back here in a heart beat! Like I said, it's quite a long drive/ferry ride to get here, but it is soooooooooooooooo beautiful out here...It's the perfect getaway from the city. read more

**Lodge review only** I really really wanted to love this place. We looked at it several times wanting to stay but hadn't had the chance. We went up for a quick weekend getaway for our anniversary and upon seeing the lodge we knew it was going to be amazing. Parking was a bit confusing but as soon as we got inside we fell in love with the lobby. The check in clerk was very nice and gracious, the views of the lake was beautiful and the sun was shining. How could we go wrong? Well, when I arranged our stay, I thought I booked a lake view room with a queen bed, a fireplace and a balcony. Based on the photos and description I was so excited to surprise my husband. When we received our key, we were rudely awakened with how wrong I was. We stayed in lodge room #7. Looking at it doesn't make any sense. You walk in to see a bathroom on each side. One has a sink and a toilet, one has a sink and a bath. Ookay..(Ps the soap and lotion smell like an awful cologne). then a small sitting area with a computer screen they try to pass as a television. Then we see that our room is a two bedroom. Odd. We booked a queen one bedroom lodge room with yet got two twin beds with a view of a roofline and the parking lot. I kid you not, you open the doors to see the roof of the front entrance and the parking lot. Some view. And the beds, are you kidding me?? How do two twin beds make any sense? We are two normal sized adults and we were so uncomfortable the entire evening. The bedding was like sandpaper and the pillows were rock solid. And the fireplace was not at the foot of the bed like it shows in the photos in a romantic setting, it was in the 'searing area'. The "sitting area" had a love seat and a rocker but they were clearly outdoor furniture with outdoor pillows. So uncomfortable. We were so disappointed in our room but we were told when we first checked in that they were booked solid so we were stuck. The deck with the large fireplace was great in the sunshine with a glass of wine but that was the only positive thing I could say about this place. They serve breakfast in the morning which is a nice added touch but it wasn't anything to write home about. Overall, we've seen better at airport hotels and that is just sad. I see so much potential in this place. So sad we wasted $200 on such a horrible room. Review: hotel amazing, rooms (lodge #7 specifically) are inexcusable. Staff is very friendly, views are amazing. Great for a day visit but don't waste your money on staying here. May come back if the other rooms are anything actually like the photos. read more

Many different options for where to stay here- glam canvas tents, the lodge, a regular campsite, or bring your RV. My husband and I did the lodge and don't regret it. The view of the lake is beautiful, the service is great, and breakfast is delicious! Their yogurt and homemade granola is really good. It was quiet, relaxing, and off the beaten path. Only thing is with the price you pay, you don't get to just take out a paddle or row boat. They charge by the hour and it's pricey. Other than that, wonderful place to get away. read more

I was pretty unhappy to find out that i had been falsely accused of smoking in their lodge room and charged an additional $100 for property damage.... hours after I had left the lodge. The charge and the notice came to me via e-mail a few hours after I had returned home from my trip giving me no opportunity to dispute the claim. I've called to complain and explain that this is a mistake...needless to say they could care less. The property is pretty but when it comes to the camp sights & cabins, you are stacked one right on top of another. It appears quite claustrophobic. There are a couple honey buckets on sight for the campers, who doesnt love that? The three "lakes" are more like large ponds of which you can throw a rock to the other side. Thinking of bringing the rv? I wouldnt even attempt to squeeze it back in there, the mud path is very precarious with large trees & rocks protruding into your way. *If you value any form of seclusion, privacy or adventure when you camp this is not the place for you. * if you value being shown the dignity & respect you deserve as a human than this is not the place for you. read more

Six of us had a great weekend on San Juan Island camping here! I would do it again! We camped in a "Lakeside family site". The site was very spacious and easily fit our two cars and three tents with area to spare but we weren't exactly Lakeside I would say. As far as camping amenities go I was really impressed, it's pretty luxurious for "roughing it". The showers were clean and you never had to wait that long to get one. Tokens are $2 for five minutes. We rented poles and a boat and caught about 5 fish between the 6 of us in a few hours on their stocked lake, that was great fun. The loud toad is still there on the lake and it makes an ungodly noise (seriously, sounds like someone starting a lawnmower) all night but once you tune it out it's not that bad. The staff was alright, a bit spacey and you have to be sure to keep track of what you bought. We realized they hadn't actually given us our shower tokens and a few other things but they were good about correcting that. Main point, the campsites are spaced out enough with enough trees and growth in between that you feel separated from your neighbor, which is usual the hardest thing to find in campgrounds. read more

The difficult part of this review will be keeping it succinct. There were many things my wife, kids, and I liked and a few things we thought could improve. All around, 4 stars seems fair. Caveat Emptor: I spent a lot of time reading the reviews on Yelp before booking. In hindsight, I feel it very important to note... people on here are reviewing a camping resort as if it were the Ritz Carlton. Did you really expect that your camping experience would be a hotel stay in the woods or something? C'mon. This is a rustic, outdoor experience. Things are made convenient for you, but not walked to you on a silver tray by white-tuxedo adorned waitstaff tending to your every beckoning. I mean one lady ahead of me in line at the General Store was angry that the resort hadn't provided charging stations for her iPad. Really? YOU'RE CAMPING! Set your expectations accordingly and you won't be disappointed. We selected a log cabin. We got Cabin #1 on check-in, and it was amazing. Spacious. a bedroom with a queen bed, a loft with a queen bed, a comfy pull-out couch in the living room, a kitchen with plenty of counter space, dining nook with table and chairs PLUS a breakfast bar, a full refrigerator, a fireplace that heated the entire cabin a little too well our first night. :) Ceiling fans. Two full bathrooms. A full porch overlooking the lake. A fire pit AND a grill for cooking, in addition to the oven and stove inside. Sure... the utensils were spartan, and the knives needed sharpening. Sure the water had a bit of a green-ish tint if you looked hard enough (we brought bottled water anyway). But we were CAMPING... we didn't expect sanitation beyond measure. The dog certainly had no complaints with her bed and special house-made dog treats. We bought a boating package for $39. It came with 4 poles, bait, a rowboat that fit an adult and 3 kids (and a dog) easily. THAT was a great purchase. Pole rental and boat rental for the entire day would have been $120 easy. And the family caught 6 fish (trout and bass) during the day. We ate one and released the rest. Delicious, and fresh. So stop complaining that the lake has no fish, folks. We saw no fewer than two dozen jumping in and around our cabin. Catching them wasn't easy. But fun. Some of the amenities - especially the table tennis equipment and horseshoes - are in need of repair. But we had a blast playing "ping pong" under a tree with a warped table - it made things different. And fun. The oversize chess set was a workout. It was in need of some cosmetic work (people aren't very respectful of the wooden pieces), but it was a complete set and a lot of fun to play. Bocce... didn't try it, but saw lots of others enjoying. A few posts had confused us - we thought that breakfast came with the log cabin. It doesn't. The breakfast in the lodge is for the Lodge guests. The canvas cabin residents get some kind of "mess tent" setup. But in the cabins, you bring your own bacon. :) Which we did, and thankfully so. If you need food, don't go to the General Store. King's Market in town is very reasonable and well stocked as grocery stores come. That said, the prices in the general store are not nearly as steep as I would expect from an exclusive resort. Heck... $2 for 4 marshmallow roasting sticks that we forgot to bring along.... well worth not having to carve our own from tree branches. Even the firewood was about what we paid at Fred Meyer for a bundle. At least the Wifi in the lodge worked. It is great for when you just have to connect with civilization (like, when you just have to find a YouTube video on how to clean and prep a rainbow trout for cooking). But don't plan on watching full length movies... it's not THAT kind of wifi. But then again... YOU'RE CAMPING! Lakedale Resport will stay on my radar as a great place to stay on SJI. I think we'll maybe try the airstream, or canvas cabins. But we have a dog - so maybe a campsite... roughing it (hah... hardly) would be interesting. read more

We decided to take a mini trip to Friday Harbor for New Years Eve! We got to Lakedale around 10:30am from driving a few hours. Then spoke to Richard the front desk agent about checking in early. He said no problem at all. We can get you checked in at 12:00pm instead of the normal check in time of 4:00pm. He was very helpful and told us a couple of good places in town to check out. We stayed in the lodge in the Deluxe room with a queen bed. The room had such an awesome view right on the lake. There was a fireplace in the room with a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Everything was really clean and very comfortable. This was probably the nicest, cleaniest, and relaxing place we've stayed at. In the morning you can go down for breakfast. They make pretty much everything home made with is awesome. I had fresh greek yogurt, home made granola, fresh fruit, and a bacon omelet that was to die for. Everyday they make some kind of home made snack and set it out for guests too. The location is great because it's not too far from the downtown area. We didn't want to leave and almost stayed an extra night here. Lakedale Resort is a wonderful place to stay and just relax. Richard's customer service is phenomenal and I really appreciate him taking his time out to make our experience the best I've ever had. Everyone that works there really loves their jobs and you can totally tell. Please take my advice and stay there sometime. I know we will be back very soon :) read more

This is a great place to stay on the island. The bathrooms were clean in comparison to other campgrounds. Shower tokens must be purchased at a premium for $2 from the gift shop which I thought was a bit of a rip.. Everything was splendid until our last night of a 3 night stay. By Sunday, the garbage started piling up and the smell was a bit raunchy. Since most of the campers had left, we thought that it would be extra quiet.. Guess again! Some rowdy drunks decided to park at the site next to us and they didn't even have a tent nor did they bother to pay for the site. What made it worse was in the morning when the Security guard decided to harass us for parking our van in the road near the end of our dead-end street. What a jerk! We knew for a fact that nobody was in that space and that it would be empty for the following day and we certainly didn't want more party animals showing up to spoil our solitude. We'll still go back however, if you see a Security guard, make sure you don't get in their way! read more

I.LOVE.LAKEDALE! Wow - this was such the perfect escape for a weekend getaway from Seattle. Not only are the cabins and lake house dog friendly, during the off-season it's leash free so my boxer had 80+ acres to roam free on - he was in heaven! The service was phenomenal - not sure what these other reviewers are talking about. Everyone at Lakedale was a gem to be around. We went in January, so definitely the off season for the San Juans, but it was gorgeous. During the day it was great for jogs around the huge property and campsites with the dog, reading by Neva Lake, and they have complimentary breakfast in the morning for people staying in the lodge or the log cabins. It was totally tranquil and we got to unplug - no wifi or cell phone reception unless you are in the lodge which some might hate but for us it was heavenly. We are definitely coming back in the summer - they offer "glamping" or upscale camping in canvas cabins which look amazing! They also have tons of regular campsites if you want to "rough it" and even an awesome airstream trailer that you can reserve! Overall, it was an amazing stay with so many options. Perfect for a quick mid-week or weekend getaway from the hustle bustle. Highly recommend! read more

We stayed two nights in a "standard" campsite. Over the phone I asked if she had a favorite spot and #88 really is great. We were in a quiet location away from the screaming kids (it was labor day weekend) right on the lake. The downsides: they said they'd send an email for my reservation and when I didn't get one a few days later I gave them another call. I'm used to people spelling my name wrong (Meghan) so I was ok with not getting an email. We went over the reservation again and the woman said she'd send it. I got a call Friday night (Our reservation was for Saturday) asking where we were. But they quickly fixed that with no problem. The only major problem was that the showers were token operated and we were given no warning. When we went to the general store for tokens in the morning we were told they were out because the machines hadn't been emptied all weekend and the manager was MIA. Finally got tokens about an hour after we first asked. ($2. for a five minute shower). read more

This review is for the rooms inside the main lodge: ORGASMS IN STEREO !!! The rooms while nice, have no sound insulation in the walls. You can hear your neighbors, on either side, have conversations, and yes, the big O. Not necessarily a bad thing if you're into aural voyeurism, but it does make you feel like you're in a cheap motel or a college dorm. The lady on one side was a high pitched squealer and the guy on the other side a shouter - he woke us up in the morning banging the headboard up against our adjoining wall. Now the fun part: we heard both "noisy" neighbors leave the room in the morning to go down to the common dinning room for breakfast, so we went down and played "match the faces with the noises". The best part of the rooms is the gas fireplace that is connected to a thermostat that serves as the room's heater. However, the carpet was soiled and due for a makeover. The caulking around the shower walls had black stained mold. If I came back here, I would not stay in the main lodge, but would try one of the cabins if they have one small enough for two people. I think when we checked, they were all pretty large and expensive. If you do stay in the main lodge, I would recommend booking an end-unit room. That way, you'll just hear an orgasm in mono (unless, of course, you're into that sort of thing... ;) read more

Yep, five stars. There were a variety of camping spots, some right on the lake, some up in the trees as well as some other options like a vintage airstream trailer. The general store had everything you could want/need. Wed-Sun they have evening activities geared for kids and pancake breakfast. The bathrooms with pay showers were clean and all of our interaction with the staff was pleasant. read more

7 of us just spent an awesome night here! (of course the tequila helps) . We asked for a campsite away from people, since we can be a lively bunch. We got exactly that. The site was very clean, No trash from other people. They have the cleanest porta johns I've ever squated in. If you plan to camp on San Juan, skip the kid infested, site-next-to-site state park and come visit Lakedale. They have horseshoes, fishing and a general store that opens at 8am and closes at 9pm, We will definately go back! read more

A note of caution to would-be guests: they DO NOT take reservations for specific sites. If you ask for site/cabin/tent #55 (or whatever) and they will only TRY to accommodate you. If someone else shows up an hour before you, having not even called ahead, they will allow them to take your site if they want it! They claim it's because they were breaking "promises" when a site would get flooded. What!? I see, they're doing me a favor by not reserving a site I'm paying them for...got it. Avoid this place if your heart is set on a particular site, they make NO GUARANTEES! Oh, they also only have 1 bathroom for the ENTIRE resort! Unless you're lucky enough to be in a cabin you have to schlep to the one bathroom on site and could wait in line for a very long time! Not good if you have little ones needing to go NOW! read more

My husband and I stayed for three nights in the lodge and we were lucky enough to have the entire place to ourselves (COVID and off-season). While we did contactless check-in, we still had a few interactions with the staff, all of whom were very friendly and helpful. Our stay was peaceful, the entire property was beautiful and the room we stayed in was perfect. Because we were visiting during the winter, a lot of places on the island were closed. However, this just meant that we did a lot of hikes and ate a lot of takeout in bed - perfect! The gas fireplace was great, I took TWO baths (I generally don't enjoy baths but the tubs are jetted and the wifi meant I could stream Netflix), and the bathrobes provided kept us warm when we had our morning coffee on the balcony. We are looking forward to returning during the summer, perhaps once it is safe and they are able to resume their activities (tie dying, fishing, boat rentals, BREAKFAST!!!). However, the peace and solitude we were afforded made it the perfect winter getaway. read more

While I understand camping or 'glamping', in this case, involves living among the things that bump in the night....sleeping with mice is not my idea of fun-Especially at $300 + dollars a night. 3 of us decided to do a late summer weekend away glamping at this 'resort'. We arrived late and had little light to find our way around our tent. Once settled and in our beds, tent zipped up and ready for a restful night sleep, we immediately heard 'rustling' around. When one of us was willing to get out of bed and find the lantern, she saw 'something' scamper across the floor. Clearly...we were not alone. Once we realized there was something other than the three of us in the tent, falling asleep wasn't easy. I don't have a fondness for rodents-in fact I am terrified of them. Next day-when there was enough light to see, we noticed our friends had been on our beds leaving 'EVIDENCE' of their presence on the beds and pillows. We headed up to the lodge where we were told by the young lady at the desk, there is an infestations of mice they have been trying to deal with all summer. NICE! That would have been great information to know AHEAD of our plan to stay. My thought was this. If I had gone camping-in a tent-I would have zipped myself in without concerns mice would find there way in. AND it would not have cost me $300+ a night to do it. There was no offer to change tents or perhaps a discount for the fun droppings found on our pillows. YUCKKKKKKKKKKK Wait. They did offer to change the sheets. Really? I should only hope so! I would go on to give you more examples of horrible customer service, but after the droppings found on the pillows and beds, I don't think any more detail is necessary. Bottom Line: If you don't want to sleep with mice-go camping. It would cost you way less in money and you'd have a much better time. read more

This review is over Management Response to our issues in Cabin #6. We paid the $500 per night to have a cabin; when we checked in I said I hope we have a lake view. The staff barely replied to me and said all the cabins had been assigned and we were in #6, the only one not on the lake. I said OK, we'll be here 4 nights, can we move.....no you can't. So OK we checked in and were happy enough with the cabin (a bit tired but clean). We looked out back and saw a nice pond and felt a little better until we went outside and sat down for cocktails.......zoom, screech. We were right on the road - and it continued all night (with the added bonus of seeing the car lights go by) and all day. Back to that later......so if you want any service during your 4 days (each night is full price) you can put your towels in a bag on the front porch for new, but NO housekeeping. Did a miss a multi night discount? Back to cabin location: upon leaving we asked for a discount for being on the road. They give a road noise warning for the Yurts along the road, but not for our $500/ night cabin - #6. We were told to write to a specific email address and our note would be forwarded to the GM to contact us. Four notes, a month later, we've heard nothing. Tsk tsk. The lack of accommodations on SJI makes this place more acceptable than I think it should be, definitely pushed the price up! There you have it! UPDATE on this review below.... The manager called my husband and I a few days ago apologizing for a terrible experience and refunded our entire trip with them. I have to admit that was really nice of them. (I gave them an extra star for this) ...... The website was not a good representation of the campsites, the web site should show more tent site camping pictures.. The campsite was not great (picnic tables weren't very stable) & originally we had a 'lakeside' site which was a terrible location because we had to hike down a hill to get to it and there were blackberry bushes between us and the lake side that we paid EXTRA for. Our site was really really far away from a sink or a real toilet and ALL our neighbors were extremely loud until 11:30pm-ish at night and no one drove by to announce quiet hours which I DID ASK the camp staff earlier that day if they would (and they told me they do). We also had to pay $2.00 per 5 minute shower... this is ridiculous.. this resort can't accommodate their guests with a shower? ... Plus for the entire grounds there was only 3 showers and not kept clean. Also, WHY would you have your staff go around and clean out the port-a-potty at 8:00am and when everyone around us was eating breakfast. It smelled, it was loud, and very unrelaxing. I have camped at a lot of places in my life but I had one of the worst times here. We won't be returning. read more

Loved the canvas cabins - so fab. Queen size bed was super comfy and warm (and I thought I might need to bring a sleeping bag - as if!). The cabins have wood floors, bed, a sofa, table, chairs, outdoor patio area. They are deluxe. And the bathrooms and showers were tiled and very clean - not your average campground that's for sure. Staff was super. Our cabin was ready early so they let us drop our luggage off early. Huge help as we were on bikes. The Lodge with it's deck overlooking the lake is definitely worth a look-see and a nice place to sit back with a glass of wine and contemplate life. As for breakfast - we were expecting something to match the deluxe quality of our cabins - not so. I'd recommend bringing a JetBoil to make coffee if you're an early riser (coffee/breakfast isn't ready until 8am) or just going out for breakfast. read more

We stayed in Neva Lake cottage #6. With the king bed and chandelier, you'd think it would be a romantic place for couples, right? No. Not even close. Instead we were packed in next to a family with three screaming children and parents that bickered for hours and hours and hours. It was a nightmare. The front desk told us that this was a "family friendly" resort. There was nowhere else for us to go, or else we surely would have left. Thanks to the screaming kids, we had a horrible time. We were forced to listen to every single thing they said, many things that we didn't want to hear. There was absolutely no privacy, the canvas tents are all packed together, just feet apart. Quiet hours start at 10pm. If you plan to stay, plan to listen to your neighbors the whole time. This is not a place for couples at all. We'd planned this trip for months and were incredibly disappointed with the noise level and lack of privacy. read more

Just spent a wonderful 3 days at the Lakedale resort! An incredible surprise in the woods! Spent 2 days in the beautiful lodge - the accomodations are top-notch! The staff is uber-friendly and super attentive. Moved on the 3rd night to the Canbas Cabins (i.e. Glamping). Loved it! Its truly hard to believe you CAN go camping with just your toothbrush! But Lakedale Resort makes it very possible! Lots of places for swimming, boating, hiking or just sitting on the deck relaxing. Great areas for kids to play inc. activities, ping-pong, oversized chess and daily arts & crafts. Almost stayed in town in Friday Harbor - SO glad we didn't!!! Loved it! read more

Simply put, Lakedale is amazing! I have always wanted to go "glamping" since I first heard of such a thing some 15 years ago. I had the opportunity to stay there this last week. I do recommend booking in advance. I stayed 2 nights in the middle of the week. Not being able to have a fire was disappointing, but certainly not anything the resort has control over (State wide burn ban and all). You are allowed to use charcoal in the fire pits or bbq grills, and in the Canvas Cabins (aka Glamping) you are given a complimentary bag of charcoal and there is a ready supply available for purchase in the general store. First and foremost, I want to point out that Glamping is Glamorous Camping.....it is still camping. You have a wonderful canvas tent with a queen size bed, side tables, a dining table that seats 4 and a futon couch for sitting or sleeping, exterior picnic table and chairs for sitting outside. They provide towels, a flameless candle, shampoo and conditioner, more than ample bedding, and hands down one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, they also have a lantern, flashlight, small cooler, charcoal (this time) others a bundle of firewood, and cooking on the grill utensils. Everything else is all camping, this includes pine needles, bugs, and a hike to the port a potty. Which I would like to point out are plentiful on the property, and very well maintained. You will need to bring everything you would normally bring camping, with exception of tent & sleeping bag. Bring food, camp stove, extra towels, bigger cooler....whatever camping means to you. If you forget something, no worries, the general store has just about everything you could possibly need. Including tent repair kits, games, ice, and some hot food. There is a bath house on the property, and it can get pretty busy, try and plan around peak times. If you are staying in the Canvas Cabins, Breakfast is provided in the "mess tent" near the other cabins from 8am to 10 am. This is a more than adequate continental breakfast. They have a pancake machine (it is so cool!) that makes an incredibly good pancake, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal and fixins, fruit, and juices, muffins, bagels, and then some. The supply of food is ample and there is inside and outside seating, or of course, like me, you can take it back to your cabin and watch the lake while you eat. I can also strongly recommend ordering the kabobs, for one of you meals. Just divine! Steak or chicken, marinated, and ready to be cooked with a skewer of new potatoes. Grill them over your campfire (or charcoal) or I believe I read they will cook them for you. I wouldn't know, because I was all about the experience, and it was just amazing! Because there are various experiences within the resort, everything is pretty much ala carte. so you only pay for what you use, keeping their prices reasonable. Just about everything seems to be done out of the general store. Boat rentals: Kayak, row boats, paddle boards, peddle boats, shower tokens etc. Do not bring your own watercraft for use on their lakes. These are fresh water lakes surrounded by salt water, and the eco system is a delicate balance, and they can't risk outside watercraft bringing in foreign microbes and such. Totally get it! One less thing I had to pack. They have hot food and latte's, beer and wine, ice cream, ice, wood, etc. So the accommodations are excellent. But the staff bring it all together. Hands down the friendliest staff! Everyone from the guy that goes around at night to enforce quiet time, to the guys/gals in the general store to random employees running around the property. Also, a special thank you to Brandon for getting my brass do hickey thingy off my cook stove that I had apparently put on with a strength previously unknown to me. You are my hero! There is a strict quiet time starting at 10 pm. Yes, you will still hear noises, the lakes create quite the amplifier. Every ounce of this experience was everything I had hoped it would be, and much more. Thank you to the staff of Lakedale for an exceptional experience. read more

Let me start off by saying I'm high maintenance. I don't camp. I put in a lot of hours at work and the LAST thing I want to do is WORK on my "vacation." I am usually a JW Marriott or Westin person, but since I live in the northwest, I feel some pressure to camp--and thank goodness God invented GLAMPING! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the Neva Canvas Cottages (the ones with the nice indoor bathroom and chandelier inside). They are absolutely Top Notch! In the morning you head to the mess tent (think of it as the concierge lounge at the Marriott) & there you can grab breakfast and look out onto nature. Sara who is the breakfast assistant is WONDERFUL! She has a lot of great tips of the island and is just a pleasure. Then we head out and grab lunch in town after site seeing and then prepare a campfire dinner with the kids. Totally easy and Totally fun. No mosquitoes, clean property, my daughter loves the swimming & the star gazing at night is epic. If you aren't a camper, you will still LOVE this place. Promise. read more

I have been to Lakedale a few years in a row now and I have to say it is by far my favorite spot to camp. All of the campsites and clean, quiet, and well laid out. The showers are hot and plenty big enough to bring all your stuff in with you. The general store is great for any last minute purchases. It is also really fun to take out their little boats on the lakes. read more

There is no guarantee which tent you will be in. You can't request on you like. The tent was nice and warm, fire pit great. Too close to other tents and the bathroom was waaay to far away. Too expensive for sure. Just under 200 a night for a tent. There was an especially nice guy there who really went out of his way to make us happy. read more

Very sweet place, low key, smells like the forest. For the money however, camping is the way to go. We got a yurt for 3 nights, which was nice but not worth nearly 400/night. Heater doesn't work well and kids cried all night next door (muted enough I slept ok). Still had to rent boats and pay for activities, and the lake is so weed infested it was not appealing to swim. Ok for smaller kids to swim in the small roped swim areas. We used our grill, hot tub and enjoyed the island. Great place to camp I think. If I come back I will do that. Yurt would be worthwhile at half the price imo. Super nice staff! read more

Reminiscent of Dirty Dancing. They have outdoor activities to help pass the time (chess, tetherball). We stayed at campsite 27 - it was awesome! It is more private than the other campsites we walked by bc the actual site itself was at the bottom of a small hill & your vehicle pretty much blocks the camping area. We used the rowboat on the bigger lake and it was neat to see how big it was. The only negative thing was the showers were wonky. There's a specific way to turn them on (motion sensor) and it took some trial and error to figure it out even with the directions they gave us. It's about 10min from Friday Harbor, 20min from Lime Kilm State Park. Would definitely go back again, staff was friendly! read more
