Just returned from a two-night stay here and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. We had a deluxe cottage that overlooked the marina - it was spacious and homey, with a huge jetted tub and a two-person hot tub on the porch. The mini-kitchen provided a sink, microwave and mini-fridge and the bathroom was enormous. The bedroom and living area were lovely - there was comfortable seating and a cozy fireplace. I found it incredibly thoughtful that they kept a flashlight in the room just in case of a power outage. My husband visited the management office twice to collect breakfast - they had a lot of options and trays to allow folks to take their food back to their cottages. The staff was extremely helpful - we missed the 4pm ferry from Anacortes and didn't end up getting to the resort until after they had closed the office for the night. I thought we'd have to make some frantic phone calls, but it turns out that they had made accommodations for anyone not making it over the water on time. The next day, maintenance came by to check on our hot tub (encouraging, to say the least!) and the gentleman had great suggestions on places to visit or walk to. Some things I learned after my first visit to Orcas Island: - Cell service is pretty much non-existent outside of the main hub of the island, Eastsound. - Bring lunch fixings from the mainland so you can take a picnic lunch somewhere or so you can make a few sandwiches to take onto the ferry with you. There are a couple markets and gas stations on the island, but things will be less expensive if you bring them from home. - Get gas in Anacortes. - Take a drive to Mt. Constitution. - Take a walk. It's beautiful here!

Stayed in a studio cabin. Nice view of the boats and marina. Ice available at front desk. They also have snacks for sale, and rental DVDs. WiFi is additional.

Very nice place, super friendly staff. We stayed in a one bedroom and it was beautifully done. Amazing view, private hot tub, nice pool and BBQ area and gym. Would definitely go back! Across the street from the marina and close to Island Pie Pizza which you can just walk to for a great meal. This island is so pretty, go up to Mount constitution and see the AMAZING views you won't be dissapointed. If you have a Discovery Pass bring it. Tons of hiking and tent camping on the way and beautiful lakes! East Sound has shopping and some fun little places to eat.

The first is of the Deer Harbor and the next two are of Cascade Lake in Moran State Park.

This is the place is the place to be. You have it all here. The location is right on the harbor side. You access to fishing, crabbing, whale watching and sea plane rides. The cottages face the harbor and the amenities are perfect. But if you plan to be on the phone forget it. The cell reception is non existence. But they do have wireless. So you can keep up with emails. The island has a quaintness to it the town of filled with shops and restaurants and there is a grocery store. The island is home to Moran State park a must if you visit. Lots to do.

    Keeping warm. Love the fireplace.

First time here. We arrived late Friday 3/21/14 but front check in was awesome I did not get her name. Security was so nice. My hubby was tired but they managed to get him to laughing his but off that made our whole weekend there awesome. They help us with our internet connection even told us about the cell phone booster that we can use. Honestly we have been to other wyndym resorts & they were the best friendly attentive customer service we ever had experienced. Wish everywhere else people could be more like them. You never know what we/anyone are getting away from to relax and just to get that wonderful experience just makes us appreciate what we have. God Bless.

Having a private fireplace was just the best. And my first night I saw a shooting star!! Inside is super comfy with a king size bed. The television was super easy to navigate and on a pivot mount that turned towards the bed. Relaxation made easy. Plenty of throw blankets too, for star gazing in warmth. The bathroom had an ocean view too. Like wow. The shower was a tad small, but that's ok. This is a boutique style place. Right on the water. My daughter, who lives in Olympia, Washington, encouraged us to visit the San Juan Islands (and take her with us, of course) this year. I looked at several possibilities and settled on the San Juan Waterhouse because of its location to the ocean, its view of Canada, the fact it had Internet (I thought I might need to work) and its online reviews. We were lucky that our son was also able to join us, so we felt we needed three bedrooms. The San Juan Waterhouse sits on the edge of the Haro Straight. Its water facing wall is nothing but windows, so nearly every location in the house (including the master bathroom) provides an easy view of the water. The house has three bedrooms. The master bedroom is situated so you can see Canada from the comfortable king size bed. The second bedroom is in a room with three walls of windows. This bed is a Queen. The third bedroom has two twin beds and has high windows overlooking the sod roof of the house. The main room of the house has comfortable furniture surrounding a beautiful stonework fireplace (gas) and padded window seats with many pillows for reading and gazing at the water. The kitchen. Oh my goodness, the kitchen! It has everything you could possibly need for cooking (including basic spices) and an amazing Viking stove. I'd never used one of these before and now covet one for my own house. Because my family was not going to be together for Thanksgiving, we had a Thanksgiving celebration two weeks early and cooking the meal was a breeze (and fun) in that kitchen. The kitchen also holds the house's main heat source -- a gas powered iron stove. It really heats up the place -- even the master bedroom which is down a long windowed hallway. The house has two bathrooms. One, as previously mentioned, has views of the water through the windowed French doors. (they have curtains, so don't worry about privacy). This bathroom has a claw-foot bathtub and a separate shower. The second, smaller, bathroom holds a second claw-foot bathtub (no shower). While the house itself is amazing, the best part is the location. The architect took great pains to fit it in with the surroundings and Frank Lloyd Wright slopped ceilings guide your eyes to the beautiful landscape out the windows. The house is situated on a small cove. My son and daughter ventured out during a late-night very low tide and found some interesting sea life in the tide pools. We had one beautiful sunny day and one day with strong winds and violent waves. We saw many gulls, three eagles and two small deer. I am already plotting our return to this beautiful house -- hopefully in the summer next time.

This review is for the kayaking experience. We took a Saturday 9am paddle with Sandy (one-half of the owners). It was marvelous. They have the best-priced guided kayak tour on the island, and an excellent location to depart from. Sandy and Carl (her husband, the other owner), were friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. They answered all kinds of questions about Island life, environmental policy, wildlife, kayaking, etc. The gear was in great shape and they even had long boats (for the 2 tall men in the group) and gloves and boots for all. 8 of us went out in 4 boats and Sandy expertly assessed the group's interests and skills and kept us all herded and engaged. We saw bald eagles, seals, and plenty of intertidal stuff. After hearing that none of us had pressing engagements, Sandy stayed out with us an extra half hour, at least (hard to tell time on the water). Overall, a fabulous experience. Well worth the money (oh, and they take credit cards).

BUT...it's like Fort Knox due to the fact that the owners will not allow ANYONE but those that are on their approved inhabitants list (no more than 10 and I don't just mean overnight quests - which I would understand). No family members, friends or folks that you may meet on the Island during your stay are allowed to step ONE TOE on their property lest you will have the sheriff physically escort your guests AND yourself off their property at any time without refund (which is in their cheery follow-up email that you receive a few days before your arrival). And they make sure of this by having camera's at the door to monitor your comings and goings and also conveniently park their RV just over the fence to keep you on the up and up. You may say that maybe they've had bad experiences but heck...charge a hefty deposit if that's the case. We asked permission to simply have my brother and his family come for dinner one night and we were promptly denied. The bedroom was cozy and comfortable and not to mention pitch black which was amazing for sleep!
