I just had three vehicles inspected at Lakepoint Auto. I have to say they are friendly, efficient, and honest. The third vehicle inspected had tinted front door windows that don't meet North Carolina standards. They gave me the option of taking the vehicle back and removing the tint and then bringing back, or failing the inspection, which would have costed me $30. I took the vehicle back and removed the tinting film and called Lakepoint back up and they got it in immediately for the inspection. Lakepoint Auto is probably the most HONEST Auto Service in America. I am sooo happy they were recommended to me. I will never to anywhere else. The owner, Rob is as honest as the day is long. I'm a widow on a fixed income and have been ripped off by AAA and the KIA dealership in Mooresville. I went into the KIA dealership for a recall and at the end of the visit they handed me a list of things that needed fixed with a total of $2000. I took that list to Rob and not only was there a Valve Cover Gasket Replacement listed for $685 which Rob had replaced a couple of months prior but Rob fixed everything on that list for $865. Excellent work, honest, fair price, accommodated my schedule. I tried the A/C recharge kit off the shelf and ended up overcharging the system to the point where it didn't work. Completely disappointed in them. We have trusted them for the last few years with our vehicles and recently their service has been terrible. We had tires rotated and balanced on our car then my husband got on the highway and had to pull over before the wheel came off since the lug nuts were loose and worked their way off one of the tires. Then my sons truck was having lurching and rattling so we took it to them and after the diagnostic tests we were told it's an engine issue and they cannot work on it probably around $2-$4,000 to repair. We had to have it towed to Charlotte which cost $135 only to find out that it was an oil issue and was fixed for $129. They never checked the oil when they had it (which they said they did) and it cost us the tow which was not necessary. When we talked to them about it they said they would give us a $100 credit on the account, but that's it. We just wanted the tow cost back. No thanks! y'all have done quite enough! read more

Took my pickup here to have clutch, pressure plate, etc replaced @ a year ago because it was convenient.. I knew there was an oil leak from the rear main seal and made request to replace seal.. The charge for this was $1040.. The manager/owner called me after removing the transmission and informed me that the clutch was saturated with oil (already knew this) and suggested it might even be possible to clean it up and re-use.. I said "NO,NO" replace everything as per original repair agreement.. Then he told me there was also a leak in a seam where oil pan attached inside the bell housing.. This he said he could not repair and he would put some GLOP on it to try to stop the leak.. Well of course, within a month the clutch was starting to get soft and within 2000 miles slipping as badly as before.. Had some surgery, so did not use truck for a few months, but when I recouped, took truck back where manager/owner insisted clutch was operating perfectly, engaging just like it was supposed to, and he couldn't/wouldn't help... Since I really needed the truck for pulling my boat, hauling firewood etc, I had to find a real mechanic.. Luckily for me, I found Moreau Enterprise, who replaced the clutch, pressure plate, rear main seal and everything associated with this job.. He was also able to repair the "impossible to repair" lip seal that was causing leak from oil pan.. Now no more oil leaks.. His charge was pretty close to same as Lakepoint, but at least he did repair it.. Yes I had to pay for this repair twice, but I hope to enlighten people to do some research and find a reputable mechanic.. Since this happened to me, I also have heard other reports of discrepancies in repairs like replacing radiators to stop coolant leaks only to still have coolant leaks.. Shame that a person cannot trust a mechanic to fulfill an agreement and a business would not stand behind their work.. Joe Moreau will.. Thanks for listening to me vent..
